  • My friends, ever wondered how a model might look with everything painted in its respective color but with no enamel or oil paint weathering?

      I love watching your technique get better and better! You have to be the best on TH-cam now, you’ve gone to another level now! And I do remember the 3day chipping techniques you shared on those tanks and I remember thinking how can this man have so much patience! Yet on another level! Lol Great video as always and can’t wait to see this in the end diorama ☺️👍👏

    I would keep the weathering light for this model; I think it looks great already and it would be a nice contrast compared to some of your other recent models.

      @@NightShiftScaleModels well, weathering was nice imho. Moderate with lots of details, even some uneven white stripes with some drops and stains. Looks like a downscaled real IS-2, like straight from battle or museum. Respect ✊🏻

    Very nice presentation. The odd color adds a realistic touch. At the time the IS-2 was in service, the Germans were in full retreat and they located the Russians by seeing where on the horizon the dust cloud was. Tanks were more worried about death from the sky, the turret bands, than tactical colors.

    I’m really tempted to pull my Tamiya kit out and build it after watching what you’ve done with it. Out of all the video you made the IS-2 is my favorite.
    Edit: is the inside of the hatches supposed to be white? I always thought it would be the tanks base colour?

    • @flyingscotsman9657
      @flyingscotsman9657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      from what I know the inside of tanks was a light colour (usually) as they were very dark when buttoned down so they painted them light inside to help the crew see slightly better than if it was all painted black for instance (I don't think I have explained very well but you can get the gist)

    • @willthorson4543
      @willthorson4543 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some Soviet units painted the inside hatches some kept them white. The hatches were not forward so they couldn't be seen well to worry about being bright enough to see. Thats where references come in pretty handy. I'm doing a jsu122. And a jsu152 one of them had white interior hatch color and the other was the same color as the outside.

      I saw the hatches in BW photos in a dark and pretty pale color, so I assume both options are correct. Here it was pure artistic license to add some more visual interest to the model :)
