    To those people that disagree with this man's methods, nothing is stopping you from buying a tiller, working the soil, planting some taters and other veggies in your own garden. He is successful and so am I. I produce the other thing that goes on your plate. That T bone Steak.

      There are two types of people business minded and employee minded. Obviously there are a bunch of employees here that think it others responsibility to provide them a job. They will never understand that they are responsible for their own well being not those around them. Long ago this guys ancestors eeked out a meager living and struggled through the years trying to improve their situation day to day year after year to get to where they are today. Then you have these employee minded individuals that demand that this man give up a part of the years of struggles and the risk that they incur, so the ones who risk nothing can automatically have a job because they say so. These people will never understand what you said about starting their own business and there are millions of business out there to start. To start a business one has to find a need and fill it, but they are to blind to look around to see what needs to be done because they need someone to tell them what to do.

      Moneyandtime Freedom well said but you failed to mention that most employees aren’t good enough to work for hard working private enterprise so they get a job for the government. There’s two types of people lifters and leaners.

    Fantastic. We've come along way since I picked potatoes by hand out of a field in the 60's. Love modern innovation. I also love potatoes and love everything about them. I raised potatoes for 30 years near Blackfoot!

    I used to drive a truck from the field to the shed in McArthur California.. We were harvesting potatoes for "French and Fry" who grew potatoes for "Granny Goose". Early 1970's. Haven't seen Granny Goose Potato Chips in a long time. Amazing what modern ag machinery can do. Our digger at that time had seats on both sides where moms and teenagers sat and separated the dirt clods. At the end of the season or the harvest French and Fry let the locals come in and pick up all the potatoes left on the field that were too small or just missed in burlap bags to take home. I thought that was kind of them and remember.

The farmer let us pick thru the field when they were done!! Found some nice bakers & lots of smaller " salt potatoe" size. We ate potatoes for free most of the year.

      Come on... in Genesis, God said that by the sweat of your brow, you shall eat. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus sweated blood as He prayed. As the drop of His blood dripped into the soil, He redeem mankind. If not for politics and business competition the whole world need not be in need of food or have to sweat to eat as in some of the poorer countries. Imagine if the agricultural systems here can be duplicated in those poor countries there will be more than enough food.

    He talks about cutting jobs like its a good thing

    • @THEoneWITHaFACE
      @THEoneWITHaFACE 8 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      The farmer is just like anyone else in the regard that he/she pays for everything at retail price. But then he raises crops/livestock and is only able to sell it as wholesale. So they buy for the most money and sell for the least. Any business who does this would normally go under. If the farm becomes more efficient due to better engineered equipment that the farmer spends a ridiculous amount of money on, the farm is able to pay less employees and not lose his/her family business.
      You talk about cutting jobs which occur on an agricultural operation like it's the worst travesty of our age. They cut jobs to keep their farm. So they can make ends meat and put food on the table.
      Think more about what your government is doing to produce jobs in your area instead of what one farmer does on his farm.

      Immigrants are not just unskilled labor, there are for example educated doctors & engineers in the USA example who came to the country as legal immigrants.

    As watching this, in thinking about Irish potato famine and the plight of many people. In the movie Empire of the Sun a quote that hit home: "People will do anything for a potato"

    Thank You! I live in Toronto Canada. Today I ate potatoes and wondered what kind of work it is for people to harvest potatoes. I have looked at a number of different videos that include everything from gardeners to huge farming machines, and, sizes in between. My question as a city dweller is, what kind of food do the people who grow food crops, have the safest, healthiest, most enjoyable time growing?

      +framfull A field usually has rocks in it when it's planted to potatoes for the first time. After that, it's fairly free of stones and rocks.
