I live in Adams county Wisconsin. I've worked in potatoes all my life. Your videos are so special. Most people don't even know how a bag of potatoes are made. Thank you
Hey buddy, I am from a small town called Lake view South Carolina. I enjoy your videos up in here now now after I’ve seen your daughter in the videos it has been amazing for me. This little girl is brilliant. I am very very, very amazed about her content, I don’t know how you made it out Everything that she needs to say but I don’t think so. I think she made it as it went, I’m going to try my best to get her as many stars as many life as she needs. I greatly greatly appreciate it that video to see a young child want to show so much support for their father is amazing. That is the way man that’s what made me so much in love with this videothank you and you have a blessed day with your family and I said small town Lakeview, South Carolina. It is miles and miles away from you but we have full support for you thank you and have a blessed day.
Read on young man.. Early 70's driving a single axle bulk body truck beside a 2 row Lockwood Digger( that's what we called it) and we thought it was large scale! This was in South Florida growing spuds in the winter for the potato chip maker in the northeast east to have fresh product. I am AMAZED at how you guys do it now. THANK YOU for this great video. It makes a retired 68 year old want to work a harvest again !
Glad to see your investment working well would be nice to have a video this winter with grandpa dad mom and everyone involved just to get some more of the history of how things have evolved over the years not only for us but for future generations of your families
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Last year I did a video with my grandpa with a little bit of the history but I will probably do another one this winter because he turns 90 in December.
Your mother is a beautiful lady. Nothing but respect, shes a hard working worker that has a load on her plat keeping things running on the farm. I can't imagine how much she carries on her shoulder to keep her family staying on top on the money to feed her families and all the families that depend upon your farm. Hats off, treat her well.
I love watching the modern harvesting machine run those potatoes. I can't help but think of how tough this job was way back in the day prior to all this new stuff. The yield looks great to my untrained eye. Great explanation on things too. Thanks a ton for sharing. I'd love to ask a few more questions, but I'll wait until you guys are all squared away and cleaned up after harvest. Hope the rest of the harvest goes great for you guys. Stay safe and thanks for feeding us out here. I love potatoes.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. It was definitely hard back in the day. I know most farms were about 40 acres when my grandpa was a kid and it would take them two weeks to harvest 40 acres now we harvest 80 acres in a day.
RMF, That was a great video! Very nice job of explaining/videoing this amazing processing. So great to see all generations of your family involved in your farming ops. Keep up the great work and God's speed on a abundant crop. Boe 👍👌😊
Absolutely loved this video. Families working together to get things done! The efficiency and productivity is terrific to watch. I loved grandpa out there checking things out, he's seen a harvest or two.
What an awesome video . Very interesting how you harvest potatoes. Nothing better than a baked potato with butter and sour cream. Thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for taking us along on your journey! We know it takes soooo much longer to drag the cameras to capture your potato harvesting. Another thank you for ALL THE TIME you spend editing these videos! (In addition to all your hard work farming!!!) My husband and I really appreciate the care and expertise you do to provide food for us all!!! THANK YOU!!! May God overwhelm you, your family and staff with blessings!
This is the best video so far. I've been watching all the hard work getting to this point and now we're harvesting. One thing that came to mind is there's no way for a person to just say I'm going to be a potato farmer. Looks like one area of agriculture that's got to be multi generational. There's a lifetime of learning to get to where you are. From the fields to the cellars it's amazing how clean the potatoes are. I can see how potatoes would need a cold dark place for storage. It made me think of my mother in law. She's a pretty cold dark place. 😊😅😂 Just kidding, she's actually a great mother in law. Keep the great videos coming. 👍
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. There’s definitely a lot to learn when it comes to potatoes but we’ve been doing it for a long time and I feel like we get better and better each year.
I lived in Oregon my whole life and drove truck through Oregon and Idaho a lot and saw all kinds of potatoes being grown and harvested but never knew how until I watched your videos....thank you we love our potatoes in the NW USA!!!!
Hey, I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. It’s been a pretty good harvest so far and yes we don’t want any rain. I’m glad you’re able to watch our channel from Russia. Hopefully things over there will cool down soon and you guys can get back to normal life.
From a fellow Bingham County native (grew up in a farm in Rockford, now live in Riverside and not farming) I thank you for the great channel and videos. It's good to get my spud harvest fix. I have used many vacation weeks over the years and worked harvest in both Terreton and west of Blackfoot. Good luck the next couple weeks.
Outstanding video that very effectively explains to a layman like me how, on a large scale, potatoes are harvested and stored. Everyone who loves potatoes but is not a grower ought to see this video to appreciate what it takes to feed the country and the world. Thank you!
Oh thanks I appreciate that. I did really try hard to make this a good video. It was the start of harvest, and I knew this video was probably going to get viewed the most out of all of our harvest videos. All the videos from here on out are more day-to-day operations videos, but it took me about six hours of filming and another six hours of editing. So I’m glad you liked it.
🚜 From digging to loading, it's amazing how much tech goes into harvesting potatoes. Love how they handle the dirt and keep those potatoes looking pristine! Great teamwork! 🙌
Your response to comments is such that viewers feel more closely aligned to your operation and therefore more likely to stay with you. Count me in. Col, NZ
This is a fascinating video/ footage of the potato harvesting machinery and how it works. You did a Great job of showing(teaching) us the many fascists about potato harvesting ... including the previous machinery matenance videos. TH-cam is fortunate to have this highly educational channel.
Oh, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I tried to do a pretty good job of explaining how everything works and why well also making it family friendly I know there have been a few schools who shown my videos in class to explain how things work.
Absolutely awesome, your team work so efficiently together. When i was harvesting my potato crop with what i thought was a good set up [2 row harvester filling 1/2 ton bins] occasionally a huge day would put 80 tonne in the shed but needed a day off after it hahaha 😂. Our district average yield was approximately 23 ton per acre, my best yield ever for only one paddock was 40 ton per acre, Your yield this year appears much better than you expected in an earlier video. The potatoes have certainly filled out well at the end of their growing cycle. Well done
The amount of equipment it takes is amazing! Love seeing the new equipment and the different jobs that everyone has to get the potatoes in the cellars. Great footage of the entire operation
My favorite time of the year and could run any of the pieces of equipment too bad you get old and only have memories Thank you very much for your videos
Thank you for posting this. I’ve always been intrigued as to how the different kinds of farm machinery operate. You gave a very clear explanation. Thank you again. I truly enjoyed watching and listening to your presentation. Very informative.
Very good videos, the machines are very complex, lots of moving parts, always amazes me on the advancement’s of all the different farm machinery. Thanks for the videos, GOD BLESS ❤️
Interesting and impressive! Thank you for your effort to explain the workflow to us viewers! I am relieved to see that the tractor driver can sit looking sideways, rather than having to look over his shoulder. I notice that the actual harvesting machine doesn't feature a buffer storage. I seem to remember from European footage that the combines (or whatever, I'm urban) feature a storage that allows them to run without an accompanying truck for some minutes. (There are quite some agricultural videos (in German) on the channel of NDR (public broadcaster from the North of Germany. And I enjoy the weekly vlogs (in Dutch) by Kees Huizinga, a Dutch farmer in Ukraine, on the NieuweOogst channel.)
I’m glad you enjoyed the video they do make harvesters with a storage bin, but ours just doesn’t have that feature. I’m sure in the future we will have one with that but it’s going to be a while.
First time seeing your channel. I watched a corn harvest the other day and this is my first ever potato harvest. The machinery was very interesting and you gave some good commentary on the operation. Nicely done.
Great looking potatoes! Confident to say that is a credit to your farming practices. Love the new cellar equipment, especially the hopper conveyers. I never did like the bolt-together set ups, they were a real pain!
Really interesting video 😎, when I was a kid we picked single drills at a time into baskets, back breaking stuff, love seeing how machinery is progressing. Thanks for your excellent output👌
Amazing upgrades to yours potatoe harvest. Looking like its working much better than last year's harvest 😊 Your place doesn't have the dirt and trach that builds up at the unloading station.
When I first stated watching I was a little concerned about the amount of soil being deposited in the trucks, but that was slowly removed at the many cleaning stations along the way, with only a tiny amount being left at the last cleaner just before stacking. Nice also to see the whole family getting involved. Hope the weather holds for the rest of your harvest.... :)
This operation illustrates to perfection, the economy of scale. The cheapest potatoes I can buy at present are $NZ2.60 per kg; they have been as high as $5 and $6 kg. I wouldn't mind those high prices if I thought the grower was getting a fair cut of it, but I have my doubts. Distributors and retailers cover their own arses before all else.
This is one of the best videos I have ever seen on TH-cam!! I have only two questions: 1) The crossover digs 6 rows into 1 windrow, but the harvester was piking up those 6 ros and 4 more. Where did the other 4 rows come from? 2) The expanding conveyor... Where does the extra belt go when it collapses down? It must wrap around and double up somewhere? Again, the best of youtube, right here. Awesome job. PS I guess I do have another question: Your brother is Chris, and I recall him saying your name but I've forgotten. And dad and Grandpa's names too! Thanks Ron
I’m glad you love the video. The four rows that the harvester digs up are just in the ground so the crossover puts those six rows on top of four more rows, and then the harvester digs up those four rows with the six rows on top of it. The expandable is actually two separate conveyors that are hooked together so the bottom conveyor is actually about 4 inches wider than the top one so it can slide along the outside of the top one. My name is Tehren, my dad is Rick and my grandpa is Ronald. Thank you so much for watching.
Geat video spuds look good Did notice the high drop on cross over and off of the boom. Spent a lot of time to reduce bruise and it sure paid off in the storabilty of the spuds. They used to be wet when we took them out of storage after bruise was brought undercontrol they were dry.
This is another awesome video. It is so informative and looks like a good harvest. The only improvement i could see, the 6 people that are doing the vines could do with being a little taller, so they can reach the middle 😂😂
I live in Adams county Wisconsin. I've worked in potatoes all my life. Your videos are so special. Most people don't even know how a bag of potatoes are made. Thank you

Great to see a family all together from the UK
Yeah we get along pretty well. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. It is very complex.

Been driving potatoe truck today for Beutler Farms in Dayton, Idaho
Been working for them in the potatoe harvest for the last 20 ish years
That’s awesome as a potato farmer where he always need good drivers. Thanks for helping out some farmers.

Wow, thats all beautiful Spudnik equipenent and big loads beautiful potatoes
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Nice upgrade to the operation!
The new conveyor is awesome!!
Yeah it’s all working really great. Thanks for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
RESPECT! To all our farmers! Without them.... Fantastic video, extremely informative to us lay folk.
Glad you enjoyed it
First time seeing your channel. I watched a corn harvest the other day and this is my first ever potato harvest. The machinery was very interesting and you gave some good commentary on the operation. Nicely done.
Well, I’m glad you found the channels. I hope you enjoyed it. Equipment is definitely different than most harvesting equipment.
That was awesomely incredible to watch 😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love watching your videos!! This is a far cry from digging by hand like I did as a kid growing up. Great job!
I’m glad you love watching. Things have definitely changed a bit.
I've never seen so many potatoes and the new equipment looks great apart from the rewire thanks looking forward to the next video 😊
Well, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Great looking potatoes! Confident to say that is a credit to your farming practices. Love the new cellar equipment, especially the hopper conveyers. I never did like the bolt-together set ups, they were a real pain!
Glad you like the video the hopper conveyors are definitely a good upgrade
Good to see spuds from field to bin how it is done good video.
Glad you enjoyed it
As evidenced by the 260 comments in 18 hours, a really good video. Very informative. Great job.
Yes, I’ve been loving the comments. Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
Really interesting video 😎, when I was a kid we picked single drills at a time into baskets, back breaking stuff, love seeing how machinery is progressing. Thanks for your excellent output👌
Yeah, my grandpa tells the stories of how it used to be done and it was definitely hard work. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Very informative and interesting and thank you and your family for being farmers especially in these days and times as hard as it is to farm.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Farming is definitely a hard way of life.
Great to see the young generation helping out the future looks bright
We sure hope so right now Idaho is trying to shut down all the farming in Idaho, so we hope they get that figured out
Excellent video! Very educational and thorough. Loved the drone flying into the cellar! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching. Share it with your friends.
All of your potato videos are literally really good and I like them so much
I’m glad you’re enjoying all the videos. Thank you for watching.
Wow this is Amazing so many potatoes.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow, some operation, man. Thanks for your effort, it's fascinating and the scale is enormous. Best wishes for the harvest.
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed the video
Amazing upgrades to yours potatoe harvest. Looking like its working much better than last year's harvest 😊
Your place doesn't have the dirt and trach that builds up at the unloading station.
Yeah, the new equipment does a lot better job. It also helps now that we vine beat because we didn’t used to do that.
Just wow! Thank you!
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it
I love these videos! Keep them coming! Thanks!
I’m glad you’re loving it
When I first stated watching I was a little concerned about the amount of soil being deposited in the trucks, but that was slowly removed at the many cleaning stations along the way, with only a tiny amount being left at the last cleaner just before stacking. Yeah, we do a pretty good job of managing our dirt. Thank you for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Just incredible.... This type of operations is on another level
Yes, we have to keep growing in order to stay competitive with the markets. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video, I know it takes a lot of work so thank you.
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it
Outstanding Video!
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
You have great soul for potatoes to grow in. Just sandy enough to release the potatoes.
Yes, the soil in Idaho is also very volcanic which is great for potatoes. That’s why Idaho grows more potatoes than any other state.
That potato looks dam good!!!!!
I would have to agree
thanks for taking the time to show and explain this. very interesting
No problem glad you enjoyed it
Good luck with the potato harvest from across the pond in England
Thanks for watching
same here

Great video!!! Watching from PEI and we start our potato harvest tomorrow or the next day!!
Awesome I’m glad you enjoyed it. Good luck on your harvest.
Awesome video taron!
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it
I've never seen this process of harvesting. I live in the corn belt. Thanks for sharing this process. New experience for me.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope you keep watching.
Great video. Boy harvester have come along way since I work the table thank for sharing
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Things have definitely changed over the years.
Absolutely amazing system!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for your excellent video.

Spudtacular!
Glad you enjoyed it
Very nice set up!!!!
It is pretty nice. Thanks for watching.

Yeah, we sell 100 pounds for about 8 bucks but I’m glad you enjoyed the video
Pretty cool stuff.must have a fortune in equipment.
Yeah, the equipment is definitely worth a lot. We will be making payments on it for a long time.
Looks like so much fun
It can be it can also be a nightmare depends on the weather, and how many breakdowns you have
awesome video! a lot of steps to get the potatoes out of the ground!
Yes, there are a lot of steps. Glad you enjoyed it.
This is one of the best videos I have ever seen on TH-cam!!
I have only two questions:
1) The crossover digs 6 rows into 1 windrow, but the harvester was piking up those 6 ros and 4 more.
Thanks
Ron
My wife smacked me and said: "Mom too!" Sorry Mom!
I’m glad you love the video. The four rows that the harvester digs up are just in the ground so the crossover puts those six rows on top of four more rows, and then the harvester digs up those four rows with the six rows on top of it.
