Always dimension in model space. This is because model space dimensions are actually anchored to the drawing elements, rather than their relative position in paperspace. If you dimension in paperspace and you modify your drawing lines at all, your dimensions will not update accordingly and you'll have to redraw them.
big up mi yawdi....nuff ratings. the video well done sah. I used revit tho. wondering how to impliment this for my cad tech who uses CAD becuase i have to export it for him to use.
I'm not sure if this method would work for imported work from Revit. This works specifically for AEC objects in AutoCAD Architecture (similar to families in Revit). It wont work well for 2D linework or other 3D objects. Thanks for watching tho. Big up everytime!
Thank you for all your classes. They have been helping me a lot. Is there any way to change the dimensions of a room after you draw walls. When you start sketching plans you are not sure of your rooms and overall dimensions. How can you change a room from 10 feet to 12 feet without offset. Can I type a new dimension? To offset all the time you change a room dimension is double the work. I hope there is a way to do that. Thank you
Thanks man. And that's a good question. I've never tried it before...sounds like something similar to what Revit does. I will look into it though. If anyone else knows I hope they comment it here.
Great video (as usual) this really helps a lot. However for some reason my dimensions are not showing in work/paper space, the dimension lines are showing but not the dimensions??
@@TDVision_U The scale is the same, so I kind of found an interim fix by exploding the dimensions and they showed up immediately, but so far that's the only way they will be visible in paper space.
Whenever i make AEC dimenions, the text is far too large, and if i shrink the text the diagonal lines get far too large, and idk hwat to do. the only way its readble is if i drop the entire drawings scale to 1-1, but thats not a good solution
You perhaps need to edit your dimensions style. Make it Annotative. Make the text height 3/32" or 3mm. Make the arrowheads 3/32" or 3mm as well. I have video that will explain all of this, called "Dimensions and Annotations in AutoCAD".
Unfortunately, that's a topic I am not versed in. If you have a high budget, you can certainly get some good PC or even laptops out there. Most computers in the 1000 - 1500 USD range can get you started off on a pretty good note.
Please bro i want tout learn that method everything you do for doing all your vidéo à montage an everything bro Please learn me brother i am student of civil engeneer
It sounds like you have pure AutoCAD installed and not AutoCAD Architecture. You should be able to get the Architecture Toolset with your purchase of the software.
@@TDVision_U sir I have purchased architecture version recently but now after using that option it only show lines no text on those lines, can you help me with it?
Yes B for sure.... but I don’t like the small wall thickness dims crossing the first line of dims. We were taught dims shouldn’t cross another string. Just sayin....

Question from a beginner…. Do you always annotate/dimension in model space? Or would you in paper space?

If you dimension in paperspace and you modify your drawing lines at all, your dimensions will not update accordingly and you'll have to redraw them.
sooooo helpful!! Thank you!

Great video (as usual) this really helps a lot. However for some reason my dimensions are not showing in work/paper space, the dimension lines are showing but not the dimensions??
Could it be that the scale that is applied to the dimensions is different from the scale in your view, in paper space?
@@TDVision_U The scale is the same, so I kind of found an interim fix by exploding the dimensions and they showed up immediately, but so far that's the only way they will be visible in paper space.
How do I change the units in the dimension to imperial? My drawing is in imperial but the aec exterior dimensions are in meters

Muchas Gracias, Muy bueno el contenido, Hablas español? Soy arquitecto de argentina, y muy pocas personas usan este fabuloso programa.

Measuring to structural elements is possible, yes.
Good afternoon TD. Plz i need a beginner video to watch and learn. Thank you
Cool
How to get the dimensions in imperial?
Just realized that I don’t have continue or AEC dimensions in my dimensions tab or drop down menu - is this because I’m on the student version ?
That's quiet possible. I can't think of another reason why you wouldn't see it.
Sir can u make a 2 story 120 sq m floor plan ideas?

HOW TO ADD AEC DIMENSION IN AUTOCAD 2021 BECAUSE I CANT FOUND AEC IN AUTOCAD 2021. THANK YOU
Hey, you will not see AEC dimensions if you're not using AutoCAD Architecture, which is different from the pure (vanilla) AutoCAD.
@@TDVision_U ahh ok. Thank you.
I used to both way B is faster but I really prefer A there are times when I would like to move the dimensions wt leaders but B cannot do so

Yea, I get what you're saying. Its a preference thing. But it's acceptable to have them cross each other.
