That is probably true, but only because in low-tier battles, many tanks are equipped with machine guns or autocannons, and premium ammo is seldom used in the low tiers. Add up the number of rounds used in all battles, and the number of premium shells used may very well be 5%. That does not mean that the average number of premium shells used in the higher tiers is 5% though.

In this top-tier matchmaking, our hero fired 15 AP rounds, 2 HE rounds, and 29 APCR premium rounds. This equates to 5% of his ammunition fired being premium.

It is true, those 5%... Or was. Cos tier 1-3 auto guns. Huge amount of shots fired that cover up gold spam in higher tiers. Not sure if it is true now, tho, thanx to stat padders who go to tier 3 with full equipment and crew and - spam gold there, too. I played some tier 3 matches some time ago (started grinding new tech tree) and this is what I encountered. Only "balancing" factor is that this MTLS they gave us now can frontally bounce most common stat padding tank at tier 3 - Pz.1c. If it only had a better gun...

No need to watch replay, run the game and press "Battle". For example, I take Tiger 2 and run into tier 9 and 10 heavies and - they shoot the crappiest tier 8 heavy with gold. And they can pen it anywhere with regular. HEAT ammo is most easily noted, don't even need any hit logs. Just look for fiery glare...

Umm, because psychics aren't real and you can't just divine that someone is gold spamming before you've watched the video. And sure, the gold ammo has been in the game forever, but it was 1,000x better when gold ammo could only be purchased for gold.

Vladimir_Lemon I watched a WoT Tourney on twitch once, live from official WG. Russia vs USA. Russia used all Type 5s, USA used 3 Type 5s, 2 Mauses and 3 IS-7s. Battle ended in 4 minutes with the Russians not even losing a single tank. *skill based*

SteamedBunGaming then spam prem ammo until you upgrade it. It will be easier to play a bit. Just dont shoot what you know you cant pen with or without prem ammo and you are good. You will even make credits with premium account. If you dont have premium acc it will be a bit harder considering the credits. Good luck with the grind
The T-44 was really good at the Start of WOT, like way back then, but I guess it became uncompetitive when better tier 8 vehicles were introduced.
Totally true I had 5000 games in my t44 before it was transformed into HD 3 marks 3k max experience it was a beast before all of those buffs for other mediums and brend new t8s

Reminds me of the early days and back then I was in love with the T-44, so much so when I got my T-54 (at the time top tier medium) I actually sold it again to go back to the T-44.
Play it with the 122mm... Only bring like 6 AP rounds. Shoot mostly APCR... Let them cry... Bathe in their tears.

You really need to be in the right mood to play it with the 122, but once you get a feel for it, it becomes such a troll. It's the gun people don't expect. You also safely penetrate high tier Swedish td's.
the 122mm with apcr still only has 217mm of pen so it's more situational than the other gun if it comes to being bottom tier

I first played through the T44 a couple of years ago and loved it. It was the first tank I ever two-marked within the course of grinding to the next tier. I couldn’t understand why I hadn’t heard more about it. Same with the A43. That little tank is an absolute monster. Criminally underrated.

Im a console player and I think the t-44 is a good medium tank.
I got 2 marks while grinding it and i had great fun playing it

Yeah, me too. The gun was great for flanking, and I loved playing it (got it to 93.5%, but sold tank for money for T-54 before I could 3 mark.) And I actually hated the T-54 so much after going back to grind out the T-62a that I rage sold it after completing the grind, even though I don't sell tier 9's and 10's. Still don't understand why people didn't like the T-44, though. Awesome mobility, good enough gun playing it right, and enough armor to decimate lower tiers.
PC Player, and I agree completely, T44 was my favorite Tier 8 grind, more mobile than the indien panzer or panther 2, better gun/DPM/Mobility than the M46, I liked most of the tier 8 mediums, but the T44 was my first and still my favorite. The T54 is just plain expensive due to the high ammo cost

Yeah, that was the thing that ticked me off about the T-54. The penetration of 201 is just piss poor at T9, and I would say that 183 pen at T8 gets you a lot further than 201 at T9. But then you load your balanced 330 heat pen rounds, and all your problems disappear for the low low price of like 4 or 5 grand per shell!

I actually really enjoy playing my panther 88, I'm no good in it but I always seem to have fun driving it and laughing at the occasional high tier gun bouncing off my turret
I never said it wasn't enjoyable, I enjoy it myself, but it started to feel so weak compared to all the other premium meds
azbunker Yeah WG definitely seem to have forgotten about a lot of the older premiums, with the way the game is at the moment tanks like the panther 88 just can't compete nearly as well as they used to when you consider the sort of opponents they are going to face. The 88 does great when it's top tier but I rarely get those sorts of matches anymore

it's a piece of shit with a 6.33 second reload, most of the times it gets spotted, ammoracked, set on fire, 1-2 dead crewman, trust me, i have 2 marks on it in 318 games

Maqueciau The best tier 8 medium after T-54 Mod.1 and T-44-100. Play STA-1, TVP, TVP VTU, Indien Panzer, T-34-2. Think of a non shit Tier 8 medium and you'll probably only say T-44 and Obj. 416

Come'on man I did average 2,000 damage with the 85 Mm gun, my win rate 61%, easy just load the gold, (kidding, only use gold when necessary, like fighting the side of a defender) it's still pretty fast with stock engine, just be a support vehicle, look for opportunities to shoot, like waiting for the enemy to fire then poke out to take the shot, using your team like a shield! And if you can't find any shot just reposition, because you wont get anything out of it..

This was the first tank I three marked... absolutely loved it, way back when it was the mediocre all rounder. Now I like it all the much more :D
T-44 is sooo good now. I was looking to grind though it but now thinking of keeping it for good! The best buff was 2 updates ago when they buffed the maneuverability and the armor, the latest buff to the engine is just the icing on the cake!

No, it's P2W because you have to buy a premium account and/or premium tank(s) to make up for the credit loss, especially if you're grinding tanks. Even if you are a good player. Take a look at AgingJedi, he has several tier 8 premiums, and also runs a fulltime premium account, and is also a reasonably good player to say the least, but still fires as much standard ammo as possible over gold ammo.
Also, very good players such SirFoch almost never fire gold ammo, which proves you don't have to fire gold ammo to be good

I used this top of the tree to get to Obj 430,and played with this new and buffed T44 and it rarely gets to play as a top tier. Usually every 7th games you get over 3.5k dmg :)

I used to play wot every day. I have 3 tier X and many other tanks. Now i am playing about once a month. This game is fucking disgusting. You are trying to get to position as heavy. 1. Invisible french tank spots u 10 secs after game starts, 3 scorpions g takes 3/4 of your health 15 secs after stards and then u met defender and u cant even pen him so u die XD

For eveybody crying about premium ammo lets end this stupid topic once and for all.
When you are grinding your tanks you are so much more weaker than what you are when fully upgraded. Hands up how many of you are being bottom tier most of the time. What do you do when you see for example tier 10 tank in tier 8 tank? Use premium ammo ofcourse. Its balancing mechanic, you are tehnically having tier 10 standard ammo (lets say avr. gold penetration at tier 8 is 255) penetration. Even tier 10s strugle at times against tier 10s frontal armor. For example Chinese Tier 10 HT that without gold ammo is a OP tank. Frontally almost unpenetratable. Instead of crying its OP which its not shoot some gold at it amd its balanced. It dies very quickly then becouse:
1. Arty is focusing him becouse he is huge amd slow target.
2. He is constantly stuned almost becouse of 1. which makes him even easier target to take out. Then its time for you to react instead of hiding and push him and brawl in you HTs which is what they are used for.
3. He dies and you can continue fighting.
For all of you in tier 8s that dont have enough pen to penetreate him then when 1v1 get to his side and shoot him there, hug his side with yours and move back and forward to make it very, very hard for him to hit you since he is much taller than other tanks(mostly).
If you see E100, you can pen his turret ring with 250mm of pen(its 50/50 with penetration RNG but its better than 270+ of turret cheeks.
If you can hit his upper turret its 150mm I think. So if you can hit it you can penetreate it frontally even with tier 7s.
Defender is also easy to penetreate frontally EVEN WITHOUT GOLD. Visit tanks gg site on internet and check out defenders armor profile under the gun barrel. If you shoot under the gun it auto bounces in 40mm thick plate and penetreates. Ofcourse on long range you will strugle to hit but thats why you dont engeage him frontally at that range. Dont even try amd you wont have problems then.
I think ive said more or less everything. This guy in the video in T44 could maybe have less APCR but since he has 175mm of pen on standard ammo he does need APCR more times than not. 3-5-7 mm is not good for tier 8s and its not easy at all without gold ammo. You CAN do it at times but not allways so why not use something that eveybody is using amd therefor making it balanced. Further gold ammo balanced op tanks. So Wg isnt stupid or whatever you want to call them. Its the ignorance of players and 0 knowledge mostly that trigers them to rage about mostly everything in the game lately.

I hear gold ammo is balancing factor tell that to that tier 10/tier 9 tanks and games where gold flies like there is no tomorow. Game is not balanced by gold/prem ammo its ruined by that requires no skill, I used to play t44 without gold in tier 10ns just fine pre buff but what is the point when all of the others spam that prem right up your ass. My dmg of t44 cant really remember overll was around 1700/1800 per game tier 10 or tier 8 game I never finished tier 10 game in it with less then 1k dmg without spending 1 prem round and it all comes to playstyle and thinking. WG gves you gold so you would use up creddits and you hve to buy prem tanks and acc to conpensate for it overbuffing tanks and its armour is ridiculous in this game. Plus when you need to grind the tank it is suposed to teach you how to play it when underpowered/ tier 8 in tier 10 game you start as weak tier 8 to learn how to flank and use tank when bigger boys come but now just press that 2 key and all is fine

RTW Iceorb you make a good point, but I must add that overusage of gold, gold spam at tier 10, gold spam at targets you dont need for are really not the things I was talking about. The thing I said which you also mentioned, tier 8s in tier 10 games wont always be in a situation to flank. When in a slow HT for example in a city map there is very small chance of flanking someone becouse if not in next street the one after it will shurely have an enemy vehicle. Also when driving tier 8s sometimes gold ammo is not even enough to penetreate tier 10s if you just shoot without knowing where to aim at.
Also I must add, you make a good point regarding the f2p issue. Yes it is very hard to play the game for free if you are spaming gold at the targets you dont need it for. But tier for tier encounters dont force you to shoot it more times out of 10. As I have stated in my initial coment even the OP defender is penetreatable without it. So kind of it only comes down do spaming the gold at the targets you dont need it for... But the again if you think about it if you can penetreate it with it or without it then why do you care? Its not your wallet then that has to bleed money in order to maintain a some what good credit suplly in garage isnt it? Let me explain myself. If you are driving a light tank and somebody with enough pen on standard rounds shoots you with gold whats the difference for you?
I think its mostly the problem that people get angry that they cant troll noobs that much anymore. Since not even noobs are noobs forever(im talking about actuall players not bots since actuall people get better at the game the more they play it and they learn what they should and should not do) and they will sooner or later load the gold in lower tier tank when facing the "OP" bigger tier one, aim at the weakspot and shoot.
i dident read your note but i tell you one thing. WHy dont make gold standard when its the balancing thing? Cause right now thats pay to win. if i right now would play like him with that loadout i'd be broke in 5-10 games. but he can do it cause he is paing for stuff.

I last played T-44 when it still had the same gun as the T-34-85 had. The D10-T which is now I think in an improved state, the gun of the T-54 LWT. Wet ammo rack module was obligatory on T-44 back then.... So much has changed.. would be interesting to re-buy it one day.

The T-44 is by far my most played medium other than tier 6 for detachments now and I must agree with the statement that is is one of the best at tier 8. I have not had a match as good as this one but 5 kills and a carry was worth it for me. Thanks for showing it off. Keep up the good work sir.

Taking appart the facts of the overbuff to the t44 and the ammo loadout, this guy played this game perfectly.

I have no idea what the enemy team was doing a good 75% of the time.
In a normal game once you are versing 11 people what happens is quite simple.
Everyone just rushes you, ignoring any damage they take, keeping you spotted for everyone to shoot at.
What follows is you dying while getting shot at by them while arty shits on you the entire time.

I think he may have been using an illegal mod to be honest.
He was pre aiming at people who were not spotted.
Look at the part the t69 drove around the corner, he aimed there before he'd actually seen him.
Same with the borsig that had moved fairly far from his last known position but he still aimed almost directly at him before spotting him.
Making a bee line for the Jgpz IV also seemed weird, although he got shot by him earlier.
A few other people have also pointed out he did some odd things.

The move the borsig did was completely predictable. Lets be realist, he only moved like 200m in straight line.
And the jpz4 I think it was pure luck.

constantly hitting the bull's eye with 0.35 accuracy seems legit. i have problems with just 0.33 in a german "sniper nation" tank.
Jhakoon you are playing the leopard 1 or e50 m? Give Lemmingrush a chance and watch his vid how to play a leo right. The Leopard 1 is no sniper tank. The obj td has 0,4 acc and of 300 games you hit 90% so acc doesnt really matter. Sad that players think leo or e50m are sniping tanks. If you want to get dmg and win more games you need to frontline. Especcialy with the leo you are fast. You just drive around seek opportunitys and fire at the right time. He misses so many easy shots with the leo in his vid.
As 90% of games in a tier 8 tank will be tier 10 matches, his loadout isn't that surprising. Would love to see a T-44 doing well in a tier 10 match. In a top-tier position it really is a no-brainer to do well in this tank.
I have a T-44 and I still love it. It has the tier-8 gun sure slow reload but still good overall damage.

Awesome video as always QB, wish that WG would have taken a look at the chinese medium line and gave it some buffs, cause it took WG a couple of patches to give the 121 5 degrees of gun depression. Also the CDC feels somewhat lackluster now.
I just suffered through the T-44 and FINALLY got the T-54 only to find the first two guns on the T-54 are tier 7 guns on a tier 9 tank. Then started playing the T-44 (losing in a T-54 is expensive) and the T-44 looks great. I'll take the buff.

been a big fan of the 44 for awhile now but with this buff i am close now to the 430! i only carry about 10 gold rounds though! Great VID QB! keep up the great work.

Waow...top tiers in 3/5/7, with full premium ammo load... so amazing display of the T44 real potential.
this is why I'll stay around only 50% win rate. I didn't even notice the tanks coming up behind him I was concentrating so much on the T69

Back in the times the only thing T44 was good for was getting ammo-racked and bursting into flame everytime he was hit on the left side. Up to the point the wet ammo rack was mandatory and climbing mine hill from the South camp a deathwish...
the one time i won that great medal was some years ago i was lagging lost conection when i reconnected i was a hetzer standing alone against 9 enemys . u guessed it right 9 bullets were enough xD
I loved the T-44 even before all of the buffs in the last couple years. IMO the best tier 8 medium tank and then they buffed it. 3 marked it with mostly AP shells, turret is good enough even against some tier 10 tanks. Only problem the tank has is the frontal ammorack.
This tank to this day back in 2012 I got the most kills in a single game 11... miss this tank in my garage but I need a room for the t54
''Lightly armoured'' Maybe hull, yes (just like most tier 8 mediums). The turret however will bounce tier 10 shells if they do not hit the mantlet flush.
I like the T-44 now, it actually works with 190 mm pen AP and don't need to spam APCR as much as it used to.
The T-44 is such a great machine right now. Probably one of the best tanks tier for tier in the game

I'm not impressed with the praise for him running away and bailing completely on the KV-2.
That's why you don't use a slow tank in WOT.
Once the potatoes you are matched with inevitably die, you get overrun.
So you ditch the potatoes and run with your fast tank, shooting at a distance.
Armor doesn't matter anymore so taking a slow armored tank is a bad idea.

i just got my Obj 430 and i love T-44
It's the tank I have most games in tbh ^^'
I even liked it when it still had 175 pen because it was such a good flexer. It did nothing perfect but everything kind of well so it fit perfectly in my play style.
The T-44 was better than average at least one buff ago, now it's one of the best if not the best T8 tanks you can't buy outright.
I thought it was op before the buff and now it's probably the best tier 8
Hmmm I have always loved my T-44 never sold it even after I was way past it. Might take it for a spin tonight.
This tank was a beast in beta, T-44 wolfpacks was very common then.
I've been playing the t44 ever since I got it, never sold it and it was already a really good tank. Now they buffed it to the ceiling and I bet in a few months or weeks people will start to cry that its op and will get nerfed lower than it was before hand...
That 36 APCR should help a lot
Well before the buff it was my favorite tank :D now it still is. I have 3 marked it and I have the most games played in it. I think now its the best all-rounder
