Yes it amazing Pamela what one can do though abstrat you called it acustic painting it's colors are wonderfully played out. Your my mentor I will affirm alwaysLove your gift in the Universe that someday I can be the best version of me. Thank you.Pamela Caughey.
I am only a year in to making art. I have discoved cold wax/oil and love it. I love watching your videos and hank you. I never seem to catch them live where I can comment or ask questions. I have a couple questions. If I use pigment powder in the cold wax medium do I still need the G gel and will using the pigment help it dry faster? Can I use some type of varnish or clear coat to give the end painting a glossy finish if I want to add shine? Thank you!
Hi Susan - I usually don't recommend using any pigment powders unless you are wearing a respirator and goggles. Many of these dry pigments are toxic and can cause neurological disorders if inhaled - and the particles are microscopic when airborne. Marble dust is also especially toxic. I don't add any pigment to cwm; I just use the oil paints, but it has nothing to do with adding GGel that is totally separate. Pigments are not meant to speed drying and ratios are important - if you are adding pigments to cold wax, you shouldn't add to much - but no one, including Gamblin, will tell you what "too much" is, since it depends on each pigment. You can apply a varnish IF you have used less than a 1:3 ratio of cwm/oil, according to Gamblin colors! Hi Pamela. I love your paintings and your videos. Thanks for sharing! I've got a question: when you use cold wax with oil paint, do you varnish your painting at the end? How long does it take for the cold wax to dry? Thank you very much in advance for your answer.
No they are completely different -encaustic is made with beeswax and damar resin and needs to be heated; cold wax is made with beeswax, solvent and galkyd and should never be heated! 😊
I love watching you. You teach so very well.
I am a Sumi painter and also love collage and mixed medium. You are such a great help. ❤️

Is the cold wax is the same wax that we use in encaustic medium
