      Hello Jan! For decades I had so much difficulty just wanting to get into my studio-too much fear, so I procrastinated-too much doubt and lack of confidence. So if this video can inspire you then I am so thrilled! I will be teaching in New Zealand in 2020! Happy painting!

      @@janettereid7549 Hey - I believe I will be doing three workshops - one with Lorna Crane - brushmaker and painter - in GlenOrchy - one in Wanaka and one in Takapuna in 2020. If you are interested, please reach out to Kathie Vezzani through www.Bellissimaartescapes.com as she is the one putting the details together. These workshops are not LIVE on any websites yet so there is plenty of room!

    I liked the listing of tools needed prior to your class so helpful. I was not interested in cold wax , but I was curious and so glad I listened to your explaination about it so now I know more about it I can try it at a later DATE it did seem fun so many options to use I was amazed . I never used oils painting I felt it was so difficult with use of like those oils solution s you mentioned at beginning . I was intrigued that mixture and cleaning was so MUCH easier so safe and less energy for prep and more energy to create! That's what change my mind. Maybe years ago I was not to interested in so many steps to make Artwork. Gosh! So this method so much nicer!! Absolutely! Thank you your inspiration. You make it possible to make this style to "let go and Have FUN"

    Hi Pam.. I have been watching and rewatching your wonderful, informative videos...I've been working with encaustic for about two and a half years but have been increasingly very interested in cold wax.
    I was also an acrylic painter for about 25 years..
    Searching for another deeper, perhaps,
    way of expression.. Anyway, wanted to thank you for all of the information and tutorials..I have redone the studio,and now have the necessary supplies, to begin. Have my oil paper taped off, mark makers at hand, cold wax and paint at the ready.
    Watching and listening to your timeline and bio, I now know why want to do this. It is a piece that is missing..
    Hoping to keep in touch and perhaps do an online workshop. Live way over here in Eastport,Maine..(looking across the Bay to Canada), so seems more appropriate to that.. Really have loved your videos.
    Excellent teacher.

      Hi Judith! Thank you for the wonderful comment! I so appreciate it and wish you the best and much happiness working in the cold wax medium! I will soon be launching my new online "Powerful Design and Personal Color in Cold Wax/Oils" class at the end of November should you have an interest! It is a very comprehensive course, much like the college level courses I taught in foundations - and if it is currently being beta tested by 50 of my former students who attended live workshops. If you'd like to be notified about updates as to when it is available, please visit www.artandsuccess.com/p/powerful-design-and-personal-color-in-cold-wax-oils Best, Pam :)

    Pam that was great also to mark the plastic bottles of what's in side there good for safety purposes. And also rubber gloves to bring for class I noticed you wearing those what type are they? Brands available ! Thin or thick ? Is that same type you use for application for paint on canvas or not as your hand tool?

    what are the palettes you use as canvas?

  • @runway12
    @runway12 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like the way that the colors can be pushed around or removed completely using the same tool, and in such a " sterile " environment ! If I tried to give a similiar demo using just acrylic water based paint - there would be water everywhere. It would be a very messy procedure.

    • @PamelaCaughey

      Yes, I know what you mean! I work in acrylics as well - different medium, different tools! I guess each has its pros and cons! Thanks for your note! Pam

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shelly - it takes hours to a few days before you can keep working on the surface - and as far as a finish, I use either cold wax medium or Gamblin's GamVar Gloss! Thanks for your questions! If you are interested in learning more about this wonderful medium, please subscribe to my newsletter on the home page of www.pamelacaughey.com and also, click on my "Workshops" link! Cheers! Pam

    Loving your videos. I’m new to the idea of cold wax, I use a lot of non acrylic supplies and am in cvp2019, I use oil pastels...cold wax looks fun. But so far the mediums I have seen all have either turpentine or orange oil, both of which I am allergic to. I do tolerate oil pastels, and I was considering making my own out of supplies I tolerate and pigments so thought cold wax looked like a fun medium to mix with that as well. Have you come across any cold wax mediums that don’t have turpentine or orange oil?

    Hi Pamela, Thanks for your tutorial. How I can to apply the cold wax for the final coat replacing the varnish, on deep textured oil paintings?...

    • @PamelaCaughey
      @PamelaCaughey  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For paintings that have a greater than 1:4 ratio of cwm:oils it is recommended you do use cwm rather than a varnish. Allow your painting to dry thoroughly, and then apply cwm with a clean blue shop towel in a thin layer. Once dry, you can buff to a slight satin finish or leave as matte finish. Best, Pam

    • @Argendiego
      @Argendiego 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Pamela, but for my oil painting I did't use cwm, still is good idea to use cwm for the final protection?
