I was so surprised when i googled her. Here i was thinking i had another prospect that might be a fitting future wife, and i find out she is fifteen years older than me :O But if i had the chance i wouldnt say no :P
S1: A pretty tight and solid season but considerably the smallest in terms of story S2: It focused on the love story, which they crashed later on. It was good S3: It's very obvious that they are aware that the show is being cancelled, so they tried to up the ante but also added a lot of filler. They made the season last a little to long. Cain is a good villain and his final fight scene is pretty awesome. Clearly, they tried to not be cancelled by Fox by raising the stakes in the show but ultimately, they were cancelled. S4: While i find the prophecy-part a little silly, everything else is damn awesome. It's very obvious that Netflix gave them a bigger budget but they allowed them to have a better rein on the show. So they went back to around ten eps, improved Luci's devil face, had cooler fight scenes, and actually explored the nature of Lucifer, aka ask deeper questions. Netflix is the best thing that happened to the show
S3 was definitely my least favorite, a lot of great potential but Cain's characterization was inconsistent and he went from being somewhat sympathetic to pure villain at the end and that just didn't work for me, and felt off and rushed (S3 is a bit of a mess with regards to storytelling and characterization). It's still watchable because of a great cast of supporting characters and Lucifer himself is always fun. I really loved S1, S2 and S4, though. They are all different but executed well.
As soon as S4 started with him singing Creep while the camera moved around him and his outfits changed, I was like “oh okay this is a NETFLIX show now.” Immediately felt more interesting
Theres a scene early on, where Lucifer decides to show his psychiatrist his true face. Rachel Harris is spot on, a brilliant actor. But Tom Ellis... His acting talent I sum up in that simple moment of one quiet scene. He opens up, and the look of 'scared but optimistic' is there for a brief second. And then, ofcourse, she reacts with terror, and you see it in his eyes, the rejection, that feeling that ' i was right all along, I do need the mask, I am a monster', breaks my heart.

Well that's kind of a problem tho. It's kind of like all the other shows where a cop is partnered with a "special interest" character. Whether or not it's the Devil, a chimp, a dog, a psychic, a fake psychic, a maid/nanny, a former cop, a former gang member, a cartoon cat/rabbit, etc.... It's a cliche at this point.

Season 1: A great start Season 2: A good sequal season Season 3: it dragged a bit well it dragged a fair amount. Season 4: Pretty much the perfect comeback and perfect season that took it over the best season. Season 1. Which is impressive.

That's what basically put me off personally. Finished season 1 & it just wasn't for me. The whole civilian/consultant helping cop thing has been done to death imo. Especially in the past few years. From Castle, to The Mentalist, Monk, Perception, White Collar, Medium & Psych just to name a few. But this time, it's like that but with the devil. Honestly, I'm not even hating, I'm just kinda "burnt out" on that whole genre. I'm also burnt out on cop/detective shows in general. Just a personal preference IF this show focused more on the supernatural element & less on police stuff, I would've legit been onboard. But hey, to each their own. We can't force ourselves into like stuff.
Dude!! What about Dr Linda!! She's one of the best, especially when she learns the truth about Lucifer. If you talk about Lucifer, Dr Linda is a very essential character

How could you not mention Chloe's daughter Trixie, she's the cutest thing ever and she's the best thing about Chloe. And yes, we defiantly need a crossover with Constantine.
Especially Trixie's interactions with Maze, they definitely needed more of that. It was something I looked forward to in each episode and was disappointed when they cut her out altogether from some episodes.
Love the series. Which is why I did something I never do and actively got envolved in the fan campaign that actually led Netflix to pick up the show from Fox. And then when Netflix announced that season 5 would be the last season, we managed to get them to give the show runners more episodes than they had initially got. And then we managed to get a 6th season. Thus proving that when you don't mistreat the fans and focus on delivering a good show, the fans will pay you back. They did it with Lucifer, they did it with Sonic. And they didn't do it with Star Wars because LucasFilm constantly did the opposite)
Absolutely loved all the characters in this show, and how they grew, but my favourite thing was the relationship between Lucifer and Amenadiel. For me the best bit in the show, even better than the finalie, was when that young black kid got shot, and Lucifer just had his back. No questions, no jokes, he was just like "I'll drive" and then while his brother beat up the main guy, he made sure nobody interfered. That was the most brotherly moment of the show. 2nd best being when they were in the hospital, and Amenadiel was protecting him, and stopping anyone from interfering with him. Basically every time they team up, I'm giddy and all about that shit
Yes! This. As much as they bluster and threaten and misunderstand each other they are brother who love each other in their own way. And those moments are the proof.
The show is funny and serious and sexy and sometimes heart-rending. And very compelling. The stuff with Cain was pretty darn good amongst many other things
The longer you make the show - more probable it is that it will lose its wind and direction. Thats why its always hard to make a good show more than 7 seasons long too.

I LOVE Tom, which is why I kept watching in the first place. I was thrilled when Netflix picked it up. I agree they took it in the proper direction. Maze IS unapologetically Maze. She "loves" who she loves, and decimates who she hate. That's what I LOVE about her. I also love that she doesn't get how scary this makes her to others. I can't wait to see where she goes. I like that they let Dan reveal (cause I never bought that acceptance thing) that he REALLY hates Lucifer, because no man, with an ego like his, grows to like a nother man, with an ego like Lucifer's, who has captured the love and attention of "his family" that he loss by his own jacked up actions by-the-by, and be okay with that dude. It would NEVER happen. Dan has shown himself to be not that guy. I personally love Decker, because she's a great person. She does the best with what she's been left with. She's a great mom. She has built a hedge of protection around her baby to shield her from all the ugliness that she knows that's in this world to best of her ability, and that includes her ex, with his duplicitous ass. She does all that while managing to not becoming bitter, hate-filled, walled off and mistrustful. She sees the good in everyone, but she's nobody's fool. That's a tough balancing act. The lab chick is cool, and super intelligent. She makes her job look interesting. But they made her life interesting too, and made me love her to life everlasting. She's adorable, kind, lovable, loyal, tough, protective of of her people. Everything you'd want in a bestie. And Constantine makes everything he's a part of better.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the music with Tom Ellis, as Lucifer, covering all these great and amazing songs, further living up to the character itself.
I think season 4 is definitely the best and most complete of all the seasons so far....but I don't think it became SOOOO much better...I felt it just took what was great fun and made it glisten that little bit more :)

Tom Ellis by and large single-handedly carried the early seasons of the show, he is just SO CHARISMATIC. HOLY. Really reminds me of Tom Hiddleston playing Loki... The fact that they're both named Tom and play anti-heroes with devil archetypal backgrounds in their respective lores, coincidence? I THINK NOT.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Lucifer, I'm so happy you like the show. For me Lucifer is one of my favourite shows. Its so much fun and is comfort food whenever I go back to. While it is formulaic and long winded at times, its the characters that makes it stand out. I love Lucifer, Maze, Ella and Charlotte. And as much as I like seasons 1-3, season 4 was much better because it was concise, darker, more dramatic and focused on the mythology.

The actor absolutely nails the roll, and elevates this series to a new level. That said, as much as i was happy to hear the series will continue, it also scares me. There aren't that many series that can keep up producing quality for many seasons.... Also nobody cares that this series is technicly part of the DC universe, and i definitely think they should keep it that way. The DC series are almost all good, but as they move on and try to pull of a DC avengers team up, it just becomes too complex.
I hate the obsession with having all these properties interconnected. I don't want Batman to exist in the same universe as a literal crime-fighting fallen angel. Just like I don't need Narnia to be the continent west of Westeros. Let them be their own things.

Feel the same way about Chloe "Detective" couldn't stand her character for a long time. I love the show BUT every episode it's a phone call, followed by a murder, follwed by them solving it lol wished it would get away from the crime of the week and more on the Lucifer stuff. That's what's interesting to me. Hope they fade away from the crime stuff just don't intrest me.
Jeremy's review of Lucifer just reminded me how much of a story-departure that was done to THE MASK! The graphic novels, were violent, dark and vary interesting. So, who thought it would be a good idea to transform the cop into a night club singer??
that was total cringe lmao, it was out of nowhere like WTF the writers were even thinking. seriously I hated Dan the most in season 4, he was just doing idiotic stuff out of nowhere. I think the writers have really ruined his character, and Maze too. she was the most useless in season 4, her role was only that she wanted to have a smooched with someone lol
@@MelCraft10 It wasn't out of nowhere. Both Dan and Ella were completely shaken by Charlotte's death and both were struggling to navigate their grief throughout the season. Ella lost her faith, starting doing drugs and drinking too much, spiraled out. Dan kept doing more and more terrible and dangerous things, subconsciously TRYING to push people until they retaliated so he could get the punishment he thought he deserved. The other characters felt Charlotte's death, but not nearly to the same degree. So in that moment, there were two friends who were both making terrible decisions because they didn't know how to deal with their grief, but they knew they were both grieving over the same thing, so they turned to each other for some comfort. It wasn't romantic, it wasn't even lustful, it was JUST a poor attempt at a distraction from their grief; they immediately regretted it, things got awkward, they knew it was a mistake... the only other time they did anything like that was afterwards, when Dan used it to manipulate Ella to try and cover up his transgression, and he explicitly admitted to Maze that doing that made him an asshole and he wanted someone to hurt him for it. It was a totally realistic and believable sequence of events for two lost, grieving adults.
Confession time: I'd actually given up on this show halfway through season 3, because I was so bored, but when season 4 came out and I heard how good it was, I picked it back up and oh, I am so glad I did. As bad as season 3 is, season 4 makes up for that tenfold.
I lost all hope in s3 it was so utterly dull. And the writing was soo bad. The dialogue was painful. And the few episodes I liked I looked it up they were unaired layovers from the previous season. Must have been new writers. I got back into it in s4. Thanks Netflix.

I absolutely love Lucifer!! Its one of my favorite shows, I love pretty much everything about it. Tom Ellis was literally born to play Lucifer!! I'm so happy that we'll be getting season 5 in August and we will be getting a sixth and final season as well!
I've seen all of them and totally agree with your review mate. What I've felt throughout the entire series have been an amazing ride, but now it's time for the actual lore to come.
In my opinion the best show on Netflix. It deserves to be as popular as Stranger Things. It's only cause it's a foreign show that ppl can't be bothered to watch it which is a shame.
A lot of people miss the fact that Decker is intentionally boring in the earlier seasons, her life was pretty much a hell loop before Lucifer showed up, it was monotonous, she worked, looked after her kid, and did nothing else, Lucifer comes along and provides the spark for Chloe to break out of her hell loop and to be more fun and interesting. Which is why Chloe is much better in S4, 5 and 6, and a lot of Chloe's reactions and interactions with others are really subtle, especially in her facial expressions, sometimes it's hard to notice due to Lucifers screen presence being insane it's hard to take your eyes of what he's doing. But Deckers whole character arc was breaking her out of the rut she'd put herself into, which you see it really start to change in the later stages of S2, S3 she regresses a bit because of the new LT, then S4, and 5 she finally embraces it and becomes the best version of herself.
I just finished season 2 and I absolutely love Tom Ellis as Lucifer. I watched the first episode just because a family friend put it on while we were on vacation and I immediately saw why people loved this show so much
Season 3 had a lot of filler episodes but the best ones was the one in the PoV of Linda's ex husband, and the AU episode. Having Neil Gaiman voice God is the show's cleverest casting choice.
@@benzaiten933 they finished most of the principal filming prior to the "outbreak", and there has been talk of them extending it to season six. this came from Lucifer himself, Tom Ellis, in an interview. last I heard, they needed a few of the cast to sign on yet, that may have changed.
If your reviewing series' now, I highly recommend Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's the show that gets better the further you go. So It won't start on a high note, but you can guarantee it ends as one of the best shows in history.
Love this show, Lucifer understanding his humanity and developing his emotional intelligence is so therapeutic to watch. It makes me question things going on in my life. On top of that everyone is attractive, the show is hella funny and includes historical references. It's *chef's kiss*

My favorite thing about S1 was Lucifer's very slow but certain character progression through therapy. What a dope premise: a supernatural being who has just become a person and is now slowly realizing the extent of his old and new humanity, such as when he discovered what projection was or when he had that breakthrough about hating himself. It's such a shame that this aspect of the show is so wildly inconsistent, stopping and reseting over and over depending on what the writers wanna do that season.
The show runners themselves say they base the character of Lucifer on the comics, not the Bible. In the comics, Lucifer is thrown out of heaven because he disagreed with The Presence (Dad) about whether or not humans should have complete free will. The Presence wanted to limit free will and force predestination on aspects of the human condition. Lucifer didn't. He wanted humans to have complete free will. As a result, Lucifer, and those who agreed with him, were forced to go as far away from The Presence as possible in this universe. Once they reached that spot, "Hell" formed around them. After a few billion years, Lucifer got tired of Hell, so he evacuated Hell, locked the gates and gave the key to "Dream Of The Endless", one of the seven most powerful beings in The Sandman series. He eventually set up shop in Los Angeles. BTW: in the comics, Amenadiel is more nasty than he is in the show. In the comics, Lucifer's full name is "Lucifer Samael Morningstar". In the series, they referenced "Samael" a couple of times.
The show is "cheap" but the meat of it is the amazing writing so even tho the effects and its world can be a little small and simple the story and characters are SO good
I originally gave up with Lucifer after a few episodes in season 1... but a few months later, opted to push through and see where it goes. By the time I got to season 2 and the new avenues it opened in the mythology, I was so glad I'd made that decision.
Tom Ellis' casting as lucifer is easily one of the best castings ever!!!

Honestly, I'm not even hating, I'm just kinda "burnt out" on that whole genre. I'm also burnt out on cop/detective shows in general. Just a personal preference
IF this show focused more on the supernatural element & less on police stuff, I would've legit been onboard. But hey, to each their own. We can't force ourselves into like stuff.
I think season 3 which had like 26 episodes really was an overkill when it came to that

Especially Trixie's interactions with Maze, they definitely needed more of that. It was something I looked forward to in each episode and was disappointed when they cut her out altogether from some episodes.

Love the series. Which is why I did something I never do and actively got envolved in the fan campaign that actually led Netflix to pick up the show from Fox. And then when Netflix announced that season 5 would be the last season, we managed to get them to give the show runners more episodes than they had initially got.
And then we managed to get a 6th season.
Thus proving that when you don't mistreat the fans and focus on delivering a good show, the fans will pay you back. They did it with Lucifer, they did it with Sonic. And they didn't do it with Star Wars because LucasFilm constantly did the opposite)

Absolutely loved all the characters in this show, and how they grew, but my favourite thing was the relationship between Lucifer and Amenadiel.
For me the best bit in the show, even better than the finalie, was when that young black kid got shot, and Lucifer just had his back.
No questions, no jokes, he was just like "I'll drive" and then while his brother beat up the main guy, he made sure nobody interfered. That was the most brotherly moment of the show.
2nd best being when they were in the hospital, and Amenadiel was protecting him, and stopping anyone from interfering with him.
Basically every time they team up, I'm giddy and all about that shit

The key to this show is the characters. They are all so enjoyable to watch, I'd watch them all do a play together.
The show is funny and serious and sexy and sometimes heart-rending. And very compelling. The stuff with Cain was pretty darn good amongst many other things

I LOVE Tom, which is why I kept watching in the first place. I was thrilled when Netflix picked it up. I agree they took it in the proper direction. Maze IS unapologetically Maze. She "loves" who she loves, and decimates who she hate. That's what I LOVE about her. I also love that she doesn't get how scary this makes her to others. I can't wait to see where she goes. I like that they let Dan reveal (cause I never bought that acceptance thing) that he REALLY hates Lucifer, because no man, with an ego like his, grows to like a nother man, with an ego like Lucifer's, who has captured the love and attention of "his family" that he loss by his own jacked up actions by-the-by, and be okay with that dude. It would NEVER happen. Dan has shown himself to be not that guy. I personally love Decker, because she's a great person. She does the best with what she's been left with. She's a great mom. She has built a hedge of protection around her baby to shield her from all the ugliness that she knows that's in this world to best of her ability, and that includes her ex, with his duplicitous ass. She does all that while managing to not becoming bitter, hate-filled, walled off and mistrustful. She sees the good in everyone, but she's nobody's fool. That's a tough balancing act. The lab chick is cool, and super intelligent. She makes her job look interesting. But they made her life interesting too, and made me love her to life everlasting. She's adorable, kind, lovable, loyal, tough, protective of of her people. Everything you'd want in a bestie. And Constantine makes everything he's a part of better.

For me Lucifer is one of my favourite shows. Its so much fun and is comfort food whenever I go back to. While it is formulaic and long winded at times, its the characters that makes it stand out. I love Lucifer, Maze, Ella and Charlotte. And as much as I like seasons 1-3, season 4 was much better because it was concise, darker, more dramatic and focused on the mythology.
One of my new favorite shows being reviewed by my new favorite TH-camrs. I love this show,and I agree I want more of that Sandman Neil Gailman stuff in the show, we might get there, we might not. Tom Ellis owns the Role of Lucifer Morningstar. I'm surprised that you brought all the characters and said your opinions about them except one character...Linda, the Pychologist. She's one of the best characters of the show, right next to Lucifer IMO. Great video!
The actor absolutely nails the roll, and elevates this series to a new level. That said, as much as i was happy to hear the series will continue, it also scares me. There aren't that many series that can keep up producing quality for many seasons....
Also nobody cares that this series is technicly part of the DC universe, and i definitely think they should keep it that way. The DC series are almost all good, but as they move on and try to pull of a DC avengers team up, it just becomes too complex.

"Little formulaic at first" is all I needed to hear, I'll start it tonight. Started it about a year ago and it seemed to be really like "Dexter but with magic"
Feel the same way about Chloe "Detective" couldn't stand her character for a long time. I love the show BUT every episode it's a phone call, followed by a murder, follwed by them solving it lol wished it would get away from the crime of the week and more on the Lucifer stuff. That's what's interesting to me. Hope they fade away from the crime stuff just don't intrest me.
Jeremy's review of Lucifer just reminded me how much of a story-departure that was done to THE MASK! The graphic novels, were violent, dark and vary interesting. So, who thought it would be a good idea to transform the cop into a night club singer??
More people should talk about this show. FUN, engaging, great characters. So few great characters around these days. Lucifer has plenty. 😈

I think the writers have really ruined his character, and Maze too. she was the most useless in season 4, her role was only that she wanted to have a smooched with someone lol
@@MelCraft10 It wasn't out of nowhere. Both Dan and Ella were completely shaken by Charlotte's death and both were struggling to navigate their grief throughout the season. Ella lost her faith, starting doing drugs and drinking too much, spiraled out. Dan kept doing more and more terrible and dangerous things, subconsciously TRYING to push people until they retaliated so he could get the punishment he thought he deserved. The other characters felt Charlotte's death, but not nearly to the same degree. So in that moment, there were two friends who were both making terrible decisions because they didn't know how to deal with their grief, but they knew they were both grieving over the same thing, so they turned to each other for some comfort. It wasn't romantic, it wasn't even lustful, it was JUST a poor attempt at a distraction from their grief; they immediately regretted it, things got awkward, they knew it was a mistake... the only other time they did anything like that was afterwards, when Dan used it to manipulate Ella to try and cover up his transgression, and he explicitly admitted to Maze that doing that made him an asshole and he wanted someone to hurt him for it.
It was a totally realistic and believable sequence of events for two lost, grieving adults.
Confession time: I'd actually given up on this show halfway through season 3, because I was so bored, but when season 4 came out and I heard how good it was, I picked it back up and oh, I am so glad I did. As bad as season 3 is, season 4 makes up for that tenfold.
I lost all hope in s3 it was so utterly dull. And the writing was soo bad. The dialogue was painful. And the few episodes I liked I looked it up they were unaired layovers from the previous season. Must have been new writers. I got back into it in s4. Thanks Netflix.
But the (real) ending if S3 - #23 & #24 - are amazing.

I absolutely love Lucifer!! Its one of my favorite shows, I love pretty much everything about it. Tom Ellis was literally born to play Lucifer!! I'm so happy that we'll be getting season 5 in August and we will be getting a sixth and final season as well!

Decker was written as a real cop reacting to some guy who keeps insisting he's literally the devil.
A lot of people miss the fact that Decker is intentionally boring in the earlier seasons, her life was pretty much a hell loop before Lucifer showed up, it was monotonous, she worked, looked after her kid, and did nothing else, Lucifer comes along and provides the spark for Chloe to break out of her hell loop and to be more fun and interesting.
Which is why Chloe is much better in S4, 5 and 6, and a lot of Chloe's reactions and interactions with others are really subtle, especially in her facial expressions, sometimes it's hard to notice due to Lucifers screen presence being insane it's hard to take your eyes of what he's doing.
But Deckers whole character arc was breaking her out of the rut she'd put herself into, which you see it really start to change in the later stages of S2, S3 she regresses a bit because of the new LT, then S4, and 5 she finally embraces it and becomes the best version of herself.
I just finished season 2 and I absolutely love Tom Ellis as Lucifer. I watched the first episode just because a family friend put it on while we were on vacation and I immediately saw why people loved this show so much
Season 3 had a lot of filler episodes but the best ones was the one in the PoV of Linda's ex husband, and the AU episode. Having Neil Gaiman voice God is the show's cleverest casting choice.
My ex-girlfriend used to say Jeremy looks like Tom Ellis in this series. I think it's a stretch, but hey, I can see why she thought so. xD

@@benzaiten933 they finished most of the principal filming prior to the "outbreak", and there has been talk of them extending it to season six. this came from Lucifer himself, Tom Ellis, in an interview. last I heard, they needed a few of the cast to sign on yet, that may have changed.

My favorite thing about S1 was Lucifer's very slow but certain character progression through therapy. What a dope premise: a supernatural being who has just become a person and is now slowly realizing the extent of his old and new humanity, such as when he discovered what projection was or when he had that breakthrough about hating himself. It's such a shame that this aspect of the show is so wildly inconsistent, stopping and reseting over and over depending on what the writers wanna do that season.
I like Lucifer because even though he's the devil, he just makes things fun. He's like the good devil on your shoulder.

The show runners themselves say they base the character of Lucifer on the comics, not the Bible. In the comics, Lucifer is thrown out of heaven because he disagreed with The Presence (Dad) about whether or not humans should have complete free will. The Presence wanted to limit free will and force predestination on aspects of the human condition. Lucifer didn't. He wanted humans to have complete free will.
As a result, Lucifer, and those who agreed with him, were forced to go as far away from The Presence as possible in this universe. Once they reached that spot, "Hell" formed around them. After a few billion years, Lucifer got tired of Hell, so he evacuated Hell, locked the gates and gave the key to "Dream Of The Endless", one of the seven most powerful beings in The Sandman series. He eventually set up shop in Los Angeles.
BTW: in the comics, Amenadiel is more nasty than he is in the show.
In the comics, Lucifer's full name is "Lucifer Samael Morningstar". In the series, they referenced "Samael" a couple of times.
