The instrument panel, gauge cluster and dash are by far the best looking of the classic cars. I mean that is a dashboard like I’ve never seen before. Wow!

My father had one of these, back in the day. The car always felt modern, even years after it was new.

Also the air conditioning worked well. Air blew threw from front to back, and kept the back seats cool. (As a child I was all about being cool in the backseat.)

I am 71, have seen many 64-66 T-Birds in my life, but this is a fine jewel.
    Wow!

I'm glad you kept quiet mufflers on it, that makes it a truly classy car in every way.

@Matrox One I like the last generation T-birds though. Seems like that was the very last American car to have any sort of luxurious style.

We had a brand new 64 white with white pearl interior. 390, AC that spit ice cubes and it road like a slot car. Smooth and sharp. One quick Bird for the year. Just a peach of a car.

    That’s the most 50s, 60s car I’ve ever seen.

I can tell from from the acceleration sound that the lady was driving it in "Drive 1", not "Drive 2". This was a common mistake of unknowing people driving with the Cruise-o-matic transmission from 1964 - 1966. Most shifters were P R N D 2 L, and you used D. These transmissions were P R N Drive1 Drive2 L. Drive 1 (the usual driving position for all other shifters) was actually for snow, and started up in second gear (less wheel-spinning torque) and then shifted to third. Drive 2 was the normal Cruise-o-matic drive position which started in first gear and shifted correctly to second and third. The way to know for sure is to put the gear leaver in neutral (N), then push downward without pulling it toward you and see where the travel stops... always Drive2. Mustangs were the same way with the Cruise-o-matic "T-bar" floor shifter. Put the shifter in N, pull it toward the rear seats without pressing the black unlock button and see where it stops... Always Drive2. Strange but true. An additional note, if you wanted to downshift to second gear while descending a hill, you simply shifted to "L" (below 70 mph), which forced the transmission to second, not Low. Once the vehicle slowed to below 35 or so, it would safely downshift to first. I've done it many, many times.

yes, the correct drive position to start off in 1st gear was identified by a green dot on the shift quadrant. The other drive position had a white dot.

for someone as young as me, its pretty strange that I'd want this car, found one all sorts of rusted and wanted to buy it but ended up not getting it in the end
