Hopefully this makes you feel better..... a little! 1981, Daytona beach, riding my KZ650 with Koni shocks etc. I went to pick up this girl I met, got to her place, the shoulder is SAND... period! I popped the clutch in 2nd gear throwing sand everywhere (Showing off) and the back tire caught the blacktop and I high sided violently throwing my right arm into the pavement at about 15 miles an hour. I am 69 and my elbow will still open a can of peaches. No matter how badly you feel you didn't do anything that could have been prevented with your knowledge at the moment. I have MANY more injuries than you will probably ever incur. You both do a great job considering the experience level you operate with. Congrats on the minimal bike damage. In my day you'd be paying... twice! Thank you both for looking out for each other and staying real about it! Nice job!
Hope you shake it off! Most importantly you weren't hurt, and fortunately they were cool about it, so try to see it as a good lesson cheaply bought. Thank you for sharing your journey with us with such exuberance and humility, it's a always a pleasure
We have ALL done it - so don't feel bad!! When I was 16, I had to drive my brand new Saturn out of the dealership showroom. The only problem? I had no idea how to drive stick. I bucked and stalled at least a dozen times. I could see the ENTIRE dealership doubled over in laughter in the rearview as I finally navigated my way out. I was mortified - but it makes for a great story! You will learn from this and not make the same mistake again. I no longer ride, but love seeing your adventures. Dust off and get back in that saddle!
Been there done that, hurts your pride so much more than the bike! Backing my Street Glide up my foot went in a pot hole I didn't see! As they say, get right back up on the horse and try out another bike! I did enjoy the test ride and the commentary but felt really bad for you when you went down.
Oh man! I’ve heard a few stories similar to yours where footing is uneven and the bike goes down. It’s cool for me to learn from not only my mistakes but also everyone else’s. Thanks so much for sharing and watching!
I'm glad you're okay. It looks like the bike absolutely needs an engine guard. Mirrors, Bar Ends, and cover plates are all easy to fix. Hopefully, they have business insurance to cover it.
It's great that you were able to see your actions and know how to not do it again. That's super important, and be grateful that it happened at a low speed. Do what I do and call it your "one" because when you ride motorcycles, it's going to happen at least once. My one was back in 2009. 1973 CB750 that I just couldn't get running correctly (carbs.. ugh.) I was out on a test ride, after a long, humid, still kind of drizzling day, and in Texas, that means slick roads. I think it's pretty obvious what happened. I was doing around 40mph probably, and I slid for a good little bit, and the bike went further. Broken bars, lever, and brake pedal, but that was it. The worst part of it, I was still in uniform. And because I was in uniform, I had to call and tell my section SGT. I wasn't in trouble, but my NCO's made sure I felt stupid for months after.
@rumbeard8688 I like that, that was my "one"! I learned so much from it. Oh man, thanks for sharing your story, thats wild and I'm glad you were ok! Can't believe you were in uniform 🙈 Thanks for watching!!
Did basically same thing only I was at a bar with twenty bikers watching .got a real standing ovation took years to live that one down almost forgot about that thanks for reminding me lol
ooofff sorry for the reminder 😆 But!!! If you read through the comments here it will probably make you feel better, everyone does it, seems like the key is learning from mistakes. Thanks so much for watching!
It happens, don't beat yourself up. Love the channel and the positive vibes, I live in MA and MOM's is a great spot with good people. I ride a Triumph Bobber and it has a super low seat height and super fun power, might be worth checking out. Keep up the great vids guys! 👍🏻
I’ve been riding for nearly 6 years and I’ve absolutely dropped my bike. One time was while doing slow speed maneuvers and stopping incorrectly (like what you experienced), I’ve also low-sided twice around 25mph. One was when my rear wheel hit gravel on a back road going around a turn up a hill and slid out from under me, the other when trying to pull off and emergency stop into a parking lot I didn’t notice was full of potholes. 🤦🏼♀️ It sucks, and it’s VERY humbling. If you can learn a good lesson from it, though, I find it easier to bounce back from. Glad you’re OK, and good luck with the inspection! 🩷
ugh it's the worsttt, I'm sure it's just as bad when it's your own bike. Thanks for sharing, these stories make me feel better. I'm going to look into that Enfield Demo Day by the way, Justin and I were able to check out the Triumph one around here yesterday, it was a good time. Ride safe, thanks for watching!
You dodged the bullet... On an excellent and engaging bike there! In all seriousness though, I'm glad you walked away relatively unscathed and didn't end up with a bike that you didn't love. Have you tried out the MT09 or (even better) a new Street Triple? It doesn't seem to me like you'd like the Street Triple RS because of it's more aggressive ergonomics but you might like the R. And if you don't like those you might love the MT09. The Street Triples and the MT09 are just such all around excellent and versatile bikes and might just be what you're looking for.
I wanted to test ride an MT09 myself, but they didn't have one on the floor -- they DID have an MT10, but those are not for test rides as they're not covered by their insurance. I was jussssst about to saddle up on the XSR900 myself because I think they're wicked cool bikes, but after Bugzy's mishap, well, we all saw how that went! We'll have to go back to test ride some other bikes, hopefully soon. We do love it there.
Almost dropped mine about 3 times. Only brute force and luck that I haven’t yet 😅 Feel for you ❤ Cool that you’re not shy to share the good with the bad. All part of riding bikes 😊🤘
I've dropped mine twice. The first time was probably my first or second time on the bike. I was in my friend's neighborhood in Walpole learning how to turn at slow speeds. I started to take a right and a minivan materialised out of thin air. I squeezed the front brake while I was in the turn and the bike went straight down haha. That's when I learned that the Dyna has some sort of thing where if you drop it you have to turn it on and off a bunch in order for the bike to start again. I thought I broke the bike. The second drop was a few months later. I rode from Braintree to my aunt's house in Marshfield. Her driveway was on a bogus corner that people whiz around. I started to aim for her driveway on the left just as a car booked it around the corner. I twisted the throttle, hit a pile of soft sand, and vigorously dumped the bike right in front of all my relatives. It was sooooo embarrassing. I had a perfect late afternoon ride home all the way to Braintree, but all I could think about was the bike drop. That was years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday haha. Oh well.
glad to hear you were able to get into the driveway before dumping the bike -- there's a wicked bad pair of blind corners book ending my parents' house and I used to hate taking the turn into the driveway on my bike, basically just gun it 🤣
Aww Bugzyy!! That sucks, and 100% why I'm terrified to test ride any bikes haha. Glad you're okay. I dropped my own bike the day I bought it, but thankfully it was on grass. It was rainy and the grass was wet and it was my first time riding a proper road motorcycle (moving from dirtbikes) so I wasn't used to the center of balance and plopped it right on the ground. Definitely bruised my ego on that one haha. I've almost dropped it 2 more times but have miraculously kept it up!
I dropped my first bike (brand new) the very first time I went to ride it to work. Sand in a curve with too much lean. It was out of commission for a couple months. Glad you didn't get hurt or damage anything badly.
This happened to a friend of mine on his way to my house on a new CBR and even though it was low speed (thankfully and he was OK) the way the frame hit the guard rail totalled the bike
@matthewthomas4620 oh man! thanks for sharing that! 👀 stories like that have me on the constant lookout for sand, and wet leaves, and lawn clippings... why do we ride again? JK 😅
I'm new to this whole motorcycle thing and just recently bought my first bike, a 1997 Yamaha Virago, and within 24 hours of owning it dropped it because I didn't realize that the kickstand was not fully down. I learned 2 things that day, 1- accidents happen, that's why they're called accidents and 2- always make sure the kickstand is locked in before trying to put the full weight of the bike on it
A month ago I dropped my bike the day I got it. Not at the dealer thankfully but after taking it home. Got too confident and tried to do a U-turn in an alley without putting my feet down. I let out the clutch a smidge too much, engine died and lunged forward, I hit the front brake with the wheel at full lock and went down the same way you did. Broke the end off the front brake lever and scratched a bar end and exhaust cowl.
Sorry about the drop. Glad you weren't hurt. I think the XSR900 is a too much of a sports bike. Those type of bikes encourage you to go fast to have any fun on them. (Plus the seating position isn't that comfortable.) You should stick with the Triumphs, Harleys or Indians and the more "cruiser-type" machines, where you still can do the speed limit and still have fun (but they are still powerful enough to do the highways too.)
yeah I think I'll stick to bikes that I'm not immediately uncomfortable on... for now! In some was I'm glad I push myself to go out of my comfort zone but in other ways I see how I need to dial it back, for safetys sake. Thanks for watching:)
I've been riding for years but I still dropped my bike the same way as you at a gas station in front of a dozen people. It was embarrassing for sure. Things happen. I'm glad you are alright.
Alexaaaa! So cool to see that you ride now AND that you got this channel. Just subscribed. This is Adriano btw. I worked with you at Bertucci's. Haha. Let's ride sometime!
@nycmaverick Yeah they were way cooler than they needed to be and I'm super grateful for it. I love that you're looking at MOMS for your next bike:) You'll have to keep me posted. Thanks for watching! 🌹
@@BugzyMoto I could tell from your riding position on that Yammie 900 that we’re not going to like it. Motorcycle choice is so personal. What makes you smile when you see your bike in a parking lot is not going to be the same with everyone. That’s what puts the passion for riding in us. All my riding buddies mostly old guys like me enjoy their Harley’s or Indian’s and can’t understand why I ride a ZX 14 but that’s what makes my pulse go when I see it and fire it up. You are doing a great job trying so many bikes but I think you already know what you want.
@@nycmaverick Really curious about the ZX-14 since it appeared that alot of that bike they tuned the engine down and made into the (discontinued) Concours. Can you throw a set of saddlebags on it and it is a reasonable sports tourer or is that bike too hyper for that.
Aw haha, I've been riding for almost 10 year and dropped my friends bike on a test ride recently, it happens lol. You've got to rev these bikes out to feel that power though!!!!
Bike drops do suck, but I view them as somewhat inevitable. I’ve been riding 40 years and had one last year coming to a stop on a dirt road. Oh well, Glad you’re OK and I look forward to you riding an R12 now.
@@BugzyMotoThey look cool, but for everyday riding, I'd be happy with the standard cruiser model. (Looks like you may be drawn to the scrambler style, so I guess the Triumph Scambler may end up being the winner. 🙂)
I started a turn at a 4way. Person also started to go. I hit the front brake with the bars turned. Instant drop. The only damage was my pride. We've all been there
Have they charged you anything to cover the damage? I am glad that you were okay. Yes, xsr900's turning radius is horrible. Uturn is even more difficult than my harleys.
I would not trade either one of my Triumphs, but I recently rode the XSR900 and I loved it. That's a bike I would get to fill the sport bike spot in my garage. Also tell Justin I love the shirt. Would have been better if it was Aliens though. 😉
So many people love this bike!! I might have to give it another try. Have you tried out the street triple?! I grabbed that tee for Justin the second I saw it, too good to leave on the rack 👽
@@BugzyMoto No I haven't. I'll definitely need to ride it one day. I only rode the Yamaha cause Caitlyn was trying a Yamaha Bolt, so I needed to ride a Yamaha and that's what I chose. I had no expectations and it surprised me. I think you made a better choice with the Scrambler. It's a jack of all trades, and I think low-end torque is more fun. I noticed you have to really rev the Yamaha up to tap into the power. But still, if I one day have money for a sportier bike, it's currently on my list! I need a dirt bike first though, and Caitlyn gets the next bike in our garage since I have two already and she just has the Rebel.
I was gonna go to moms today. They were doing a Triumph demo day. But I had a horrible tooth ache for the past few days and ended up having to go get it taken care of (root canal ooof). And I can't go tomorrow either because my wife and I are going to visit our daughter in college this weekend. I really wanted to ride that Rocket..
Oh man.. I made my first comment before I finished watching the video. We've all dropped a bike at one time or another. If you ride long (or short) enough.. its inevitable. Glad you're ok.. and glad the bike's not damaged. Next time I'm at Moms.. I'll be sure to tell Eric that I don't actually know you. 🤣
oh man tooth aches are the worst, hope the root canal wasn't too bad 🥺 Justin and I went to MOMS for Demo Day yesterday! It was a good time, we were on a time crunch though so we didn't ride any 2025 models. These end of summer weekends are so busy!! I hope you enjoyed family time this weekend. HAHA yeah tell Eric I'm sorry again next time you see him 🙈
Dropping bike's is something that WILL happen, its just WHEN, my 1st bike, a 84 CM250, I was ripping up and down the street on it(before i was licensed) and when i went to come back onto our front yard, I came in to hot and the front end kicked out, broke the mirror but i was fine, scared the shit out of me but i learned from it, my 2nd bike, a 84 VT750, fell over a few times due to my stupidity, broke a couple signals a couple different times. and my current bike, a 97 VT1100, although im probably going to jynx myself, hasn't gone over yet but its came close a few times, it almost fell off the bench i built to work on it, could of been bad. Dropping bikes will definetly always happen, no matter how experienced you are. The important thing is to get up, dust yourself off and keep going, learn how to recover from it, and although, it'll hurt the ego a bit, the lesson learned is forever!! Keep your shiny side up and ride safe!!!
wow, you've made me a feel better-- I'm in good company with the other riders willing to admit mistakes and learn from them!! Thanks so much for sharing and I dont think you've jinxed yourself with your current bike 😆
I remember bombing around the yard on my first dirtbike (1973 Honda XL70) and I was goosin around a make believe race track, hit some leaves on a 90 degree turn and wiped out and broke my wrist
@@BugzyMoto Pulling out of Quirk Chevy on the Weymouth/Quincy line salesman told me it was clear to go and miss judged the speed of the approaching car and got T-boned. the clown that hit us was high/drunk and going at least 60 MPH in a 35 mph zone , not my fault but I was driving so I totaled it. salesman got a broken arm and pelvis / me I was fine.
I just got a 2024 XSR900 and have come close to doing that a few times because of the limited amount of steering before you hit the steering stops. I havnt got used to it yet to be honest.
Thanks for saying that and thanks for watching, the comment section on this video is full of kindness 💗 I didn't love the bike like I wanted to, it wasn't comfortable for me.
So far, of all the bikes I've seen you ride, there is one that really suits you the best. Size, looks, power, style, coolness, versatility, all that....the XS650 hands down! PS.....stay away from digital dash....so uncool.
awww I feel the same, that bike is soo me:) I just need her to be more reliable. I took her out the other day and she's doing something new-- stalling at red lights 👎
Seriously.... all the way back to the dealership and you dump it. Thank god you are okay! Glad you are not on the hook for having to pay anything. But at this point, no more test rides, you need to buy a bike and be done with it.
Every new bike I’ve bought, I couldn’t test ride until paperwork was done. I had 30 min or 30 miles to cancel the sale. I’d be pissed if this wasn’t disclosed to the person that bought it.
Poor little Bugzy 🌞I felt bad for you. I thought maybe you grabbed the front brake with the wheel turned. Please Please 🙏 no sport type bikes it’s not you. I detest sport bikes they are for 20 something’s and adrenaline junkies. Your back would be hurting on any long rides. 8:42 good 👍 thing you were not going to fast. Justin was seeing $$$ signs 😂Justin”You just bought this bike.” Bugzy “ But I don’t want this bike.” 😎Dave H
I had JUST finished reading and signing the test drive waiver when Bugzy came back to the lot, so the liability for damage clause was verrrryyyy fresh 🤣
I spent an entire winter building the 78 Sporty and had convinced myself the only true way to start the bike for the first time was via kick -- I lost my balancr and dumped it so hard into the garage wall that I dented the oil bag and chipped the front fender ☠️
I dropped my bike after three years of riding. I got caught in the rain riding for almost 45 minutes and then got to the gas station, rain subsided. I stopped with wheel turned at pump and stood up just to find myself falling. My bike is short and had a lower softer seat on (I’m 6ft) had I been on a taller bike I would’ve saved it.
U grabbed front brake at low speed while turning, that was the problem Not to mention you grabbed the front brake with 4 fingers, make it even worst Same as your left hand, grab clutch with 4 fingers , recommend you change those riding behaviors
Yeah totally, I learned a lot from that. In the video you'll hear my break down of what went wrong and how I learned from it. I've been practicing with 2 fingers hovering over the levers, is that what you'd recommend too?
I’ve dropped my bike a couple times.. once after I had just had cams installed the the shop wanted a photo with me and the bike.. I was so excited I forgot the damm kickstand when I got off.. lol my brother also dropped a bike Mom’s .. he was in the lower level looking for a bike.. he has never since sat in a bike lol
You should test this again. You were way too high in gears. It actually tells you when to shift by blinking the gear number. It's happy at 5000 to 8000 rpm. You were at 4000 at most. There you're not gonna feel the power.
If you haven’t made mistakes in life…🤨. Been there, still learning and sure to make more. Forgive yourself and move forward. I’m still working on it. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
The truth is you were nearly stopped and you applied the front brake with the bars turned. The bike instantly was to much for you to hold up. If you stopped with the bars straight that would not have happened. It will happen again if you stop with the front tire turned. You were stopping.
MOMS welcomes all riders and I’m grateful for it! They totally understand that mistakes happen (at all rider levels) and their response to my mistake is part of why they’ll get my business! Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective.
Thanks for saying that 😊 I had a dirt bike for a few seasons and I think about getting one again all the time. I’d need a trailer though cause there’s not much trail riding around me. I see a trailer in the future though, we want to travel with our bikes more and avoid this New England winter when we can 😆 thanks for watching bendahh
I dropped my bike a few months ago, a 99 suzuki marauder 800....I got lucky and only broke a mirror mount. Dropping a bike is no big deal, just dust yourself off and get back riding. Safe Riding

Adriano!! So good to hear from you, funny that you found my channel! Yeah let’s ride!
Moms rocks for not being dicks about your misadventure. I have actually started looking at their inventory for a new toy😊 because of your vids.
Tomorrow is Triumph Demo days, we couldn't make it there today but might be there first thing in the morning to check it out
@nycmaverick Yeah they were way cooler than they needed to be and I'm super grateful for it.
@@nycmaverick what color is your ZX14? That green/white livery turns me into the "shut up and take my money" meme 😅
@@nycmaverick Really curious about the ZX-14 since it appeared that alot of that bike they tuned the engine down and made into the (discontinued) Concours. Can you throw a set of saddlebags on it and it is a reasonable sports tourer or is that bike too hyper for that.
Stuff does happen ‼️ Did the same thing on my new bike shortly after purchasing (🙀) That evening I ordered crash/highway bar 😎
oh man!!
The new cruiser BMW R12 would be great, but that is getting up in price. (I've been eyeing them myself. 🙂)
woah you guys the R12 is sweeet 😍
@pcthayer @LeroyHeeneyWine woah look how cool this is-- pipeburn.com/bmw-r12-scrambler-walzwerk/
We've all been there
Oof yes I can totally see how that would happen! Thanks for watching and sharing 🌹
Have they charged you anything to cover the damage? I am glad that you were okay. Yes, xsr900's turning radius is horrible. Uturn is even more difficult than my harleys.
They are not going to charge me anything, I'm extremely lucky!! Very glad I've done all my test rides at MOMS 😊 Thanks for watching!
These are the things that make your channel watchable 😂
Haha I hope you like the videos where I don’t make stupid mistakes too 🤪 thanks for watching!!
@BugzyMoto Definitely. All your videos are great and I love watching them.
Slow speed turn and front brake will drop you 99% of the time. that being said I totaled a pick up truck on a test drive.
Dude what! I need to hear the full story there 🙈
@@BugzyMoto Pulling out of Quirk Chevy on the Weymouth/Quincy line salesman told me it was clear to go and miss judged the speed of the approaching car and got T-boned. the clown that hit us was high/drunk and going at least 60 MPH in a 35 mph zone , not my fault but I was driving so I totaled it. salesman got a broken arm and pelvis / me I was fine.
I go to MOMs South too. Please don't ask to take my bike for a teat ride . LOL
🤣🤣
@@justinmantell Hope to see you out on the road. Ride safe.
Right back at ya! Keep the rubber side down 🙌
I just got a 2024 XSR900 and have come close to doing that a few times because of the limited amount of steering before you hit the steering stops. I havnt got used to it yet to be honest.
I can imagine it would take a minute to get used to! enjoy your new bike, that quick shifter sure is fun:) Thanks for sharing!
You tried the Rebel 500, probably under powered. Try the 1100, might be a fit
I'll def be riding more rebels! It's cool cause they're so popular I can rent them anywhere I go!
Your not whack, it happens and you learned from it. All my accidents have been at low speeds. And most riders have dropped their bikes at some stage.
yoo foxboro moms is where i took my msf! great place
No worries, drops happen, glad you were ok. Aside from the drop, what did you think of the bike!!?
🙈
Every new bike I’ve bought, I couldn’t test ride until paperwork was done. I had 30 min or 30 miles to cancel the sale. I’d be pissed if this wasn’t disclosed to the person that bought it.
Bugzy 🌞in the manger’s office at MOM’s they will have a picture of you- Do not let this woman test ride a bike 😂Just kidding
😎Dave H
HAHA I'm happy to say I'm not banned from MOMS
Poor little Bugzy 🌞I felt bad for you. I thought maybe you grabbed the front brake with the wheel turned. Please Please 🙏 no sport type bikes it’s not you. I detest sport bikes they are for 20 something’s and adrenaline junkies. Your back would be hurting on any long rides. 8:42 good 👍 thing you were not going to fast. Justin was seeing $$$ signs 😂Justin”You just bought this bike.” Bugzy “ But I don’t want this bike.” 😎Dave H
I’m 60 and ride a ZX 14R I definitely am not a kid😊
That’s fine if that’s what you enjoy riding. But I think you would be in the
Minority at that age.😎Dave H
I had JUST finished reading and signing the test drive waiver when Bugzy came back to the lot, so the liability for damage clause was verrrryyyy fresh 🤣
Is that Kawa's answer to the Hayabusa? Has a similar look, I love it in the green/white livery 🔥
I’m glad the Bugzter was wearing her long sleeves 😎Dave H
I spent an entire winter building the 78 Sporty and had convinced myself the only true way to start the bike for the first time was via kick -- I lost my balancr and dumped it so hard into the garage wall that I dented the oil bag and chipped the front fender ☠️
Justin does your dad let you ride his Shovelhead? You’re Sportster is good 👍 looking bike.😎Dave H
I took it for a ride a couple years ago, but didn't like the forward controls or the exaggerated rake out front -- it's the bike version of a Led Sled
Myself I love forward controls. Plus you look cooler Lol 😂 😎Dave H
haha cant deny that forward controls look cool!
Dropped my mk1 XSR900 the first day I got it. Bent the brake lever!
Bike drops on the first day seem to be a very common thing, glad the lever was the only thing that was harmed!! Thanks for watching:)
You need a medium sized dresser, windshield n bags for your gear.
U grabbed front brake at low speed while turning, that was the problem
Not to mention you grabbed the front brake with 4 fingers, make it even worst
Same as your left hand, grab clutch with 4 fingers , recommend you change those riding behaviors
I was so excited I forgot the damm kickstand when I got off.. lol my brother also dropped a bike Mom’s .. he was in the lower level looking for a bike.. he has never since sat in a bike lol
ooff so brutal! you'll never forget that lesson though lol oh my gosh your poor brother 😅
exactly!! Love it! 🌈
The 700 had more power then you’ll ever use,the throttle does twist past 1/8 turn
The truth is you were nearly stopped and you applied the front brake with the bars turned. The bike instantly was to much for you to hold up. If you stopped with the bars straight that would not have happened. It will happen again if you stop with the front tire turned. You were stopping.
Yeah exactly, thats the exact lesson I learned. Thanks for watching!
That bike sounds nice. The odometer looks like a small phone iPad, screen looks dark.
Yeah it sounded so nice, I wish I liked it as a whole but it’s all good 😊
Mode 4 is really slow. It’s like maybe 25% of mode 2. It’s seems to me it cuts hp and you have just like 35-40.
As a dealer I'd never hand a bike to unexperienced riders
MOMS welcomes all riders and I’m grateful for it! They totally understand that mistakes happen (at all rider levels) and their response to my mistake is part of why they’ll get my business! Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective.

Thanks for saying that 😊 I had a dirt bike for a few seasons and I think about getting one again all the time. I’d need a trailer though cause there’s not much trail riding around me.
