I just installed the same cover on my 2022 Denali 8' bed. Super easy for one person to install. I ran onto the same issue with the hold down knobs, since it was dark out towards the end of the install I did not realize they are Nylon Lock Nuts. I used channel locks to tighten. You would think hand knobs wouldn't be NYLOCK!!!!
Completely flat and smooth, doesn't blow up or rattle or chatter or nothin. It's very solid. Sorry so long to reply, I'm emmersed in tik tok these days..
Plastic "clips" at the end of the rail near the tailgate. Mine keeps popping off. Does/did yours and if yes what did you do to stop it from popping off?
Every bit of mine has held strong so far, I know what you mean but mine are so far so good, maybe contact them they might send ya somethin. A lot of these companies will help out with customer service
Hey hey sorry about that, there are 2 little rubber strips that are intended to hit first when you first start to roll it and cushion, so that's where they rub a little. But it's just a rubber cushion that hits on top first. I guess it just wears off the dust a little and shows up. I don't ever notice it really.
I’ve had the revolver XR for three years in minnesota and always experience problems with the plastic clips freezing and thus inoperable during most of the winter months. The first year I tried forcing the roll up and broke several of the clips. Had to order more from the company. I would not recommend this cover for anyone living in the northern states unless you park in a heated garage.
I'm considering this Tonneau cover for my new Chevy truck. Are the only options either all the way closed or all the way rolled up or is it possible to roll it up 80%-90%% and then secure it with the straps? I tow a 5th Wheel and I sometimes have a Little Giant ladder on the floor up against the cab and like how with my folding cover I can leave the last panel down which offers some weather protection for the ladder while traveling.
Any fading issues with the leather top? I had that issue with the revolver X2. Now I’m looking for a hard tonneau cover for the new truck I just got, I really like to get another roll up cover, but worried I’ll have the same issue
No fading on the top material, but some fading on the plastic pieces on top where the straps go, but not cracked, or broken. I still have zero issues, I use it a lot and it's performed very well. The latches work perfectly, rolls nice, and is very nice looking still
I guess I'm too cheap. Gaskets not being in line, people saying they only last 4 years, I don't see me buying one. $250/year cost of ownership is too much.
Id be worried about that area 1 minute into your video. After a few years with my X2 the wind peeled all that rubber back clear along the whole back edge and started peeling the vinyl back. Design on this X4S doesnt look much different.
Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it but do you live in the northern states where it gets cold? If so, any issues with getting the cover to roll up? That's the only concern I have before buying this.
Sorry so long, no but I am in st. Louis, and it does get crazy cold, and honestly I've rolled mine up in winter many times with zero issues. I see some people saying that that is an issue they've had but never for me
How difficult do you think it would be to get in from the side or end? I do realize that if they want in they’ll get in. But just for “ it’s not worth the effort and noise sake “
Would no be easy unless they really brought big boy tools and would be quite loud. The top and clamp rails are all aluminum, the bite blocks are locked to the rails and at the cab end you're for sure not getting in. If your gate is locked like mine can then you would be very secure. You would really have to make a lot of noise and bring a big crowbar. Hope this helps!
For reference, my X2 went 5 years before id say it should have been replaced. Now 7 years old and its destroyed. It lives Outside 24/7. My buddies X2 is now 7 years old and garaged every night. His one still looks great. Even still has the original felt. Both in Ohio.
I definitely have not stood on it or put much weight on it I'm not sure I would attempt too much of that. Honestly the mechanism that goes down the rail that holds the bite blocks kind of just holds the blocks in place and the bed rail pieces are just on there with clamps I imagine sure you could probably put 500 lb on it if you spaced it perfectly evenly but honestly that would be ridiculous nobody's doing that. I can imagine if a small child climbed up there and stood on it that it probably wouldn't be an issue at all but I have knocked mine out of alignment more than once kind of easily. I do think that it is great it is held up very well it rolls great even in the cold.
Wait till the glue starts to loose it adhesive after time. This is a absolute disaster of a bed cover. In the cold climate the roll up cover cant be open. In the heat the adhesive sill start to loose its adhesion.🙄 Hard cover is the only way. You get what you pay for and BAK industries does have a shitty customer service.
So far not a single issue and it's been around a year and a half. No peeling, no separation, not too much weathering or discoloration. Really like mine.
Sure wish folks could not move the camera around so much makin me sick! Good grief; cannot watch it. Want to go throw up now..... fast forwarded and saw some rectangle marks in the top; that is from it melting when hot as it is rolled up. NOT good; they need to change that material. In fact, heat seems to be the death of every top I've investigated. Nothing but diamond can stand the heat I guess, but that's way overkill.
Best cover out there, I have mine on my 2013 ford f150 is been 6 month and it been great
How has it lasted until now?
I have the older x2 model on my F-150. My Super Duty should be arriving in a few weeks and the x4s is going on it.
Amazing video, I have the MX4 and the Revolver is my next purchase. Thanks for the content.
Thank you!
I have owned both the Bak Flips (Roller and Fold) the roller style lasted about 4 yrs, the fold X4 has out performed the roller style.
My fold version lasted about 4 years

Yeah I did the same with channels, almost have to to get them super tight. Awesome man! Glad it worked out! Thanks for stopping by!
When you drive your truck on the freeway, does the cover rattle and shake or does it stay nice and flat and smooth when in closed position?
Completely flat and smooth, doesn't blow up or rattle or chatter or nothin. It's very solid. Sorry so long to reply, I'm emmersed in tik tok these days..

So no one does a video that I can find that describes how to lock this cover in place somewhere between fully open and fully closed. Can it be?
No it can’t.
Just installed mine. It hasa little dip all the way across near the cab. Did you experience this?
AT 4:00 you started to explain the two rectangular discolorations on the cover, and then just stopped and went on to something else. What are they?

Have you thought about adding crossbars with it? I cant seem to find a set of crossbars that work well with my X4S yet..
Did you move forward on crossbars? Get anything yet? What are you considering?
I think there is a new version on realtruck made for rails
2 year review?
Does it make noise when at high highway speeds, both when closed and open?
mine doesn't make any noise at all
@@robertwood9628 mine does not either.

Sorry so long but no, to secure it you would have to roll it all the way up for the straps to reach
@@beabetterbaker3741 No problem. I appreciate the reply. I haven't bought anything yet and this is still in the running.
Thank you for your review... Does it rattle?
Mine does not at all.

Do they make a version that doesn’t make you install side rails, narrowing your bed space?
Haven't seen one like that. They make these to have the bite block rails. So this one had to have the rails.
Has anyone noticed getting better mileage with a tonneau installed.
You will not get a difference
Where did you buy yours at?
Got mine on realtruck.com but I would google search and see who has the best price. Realtruck is a big new online truck store
Thank you!
I guess I'm too cheap. Gaskets not being in line, people saying they only last 4 years, I don't see me buying one. $250/year cost of ownership is too much.
it does have a 5 year warranty so $200 a year 🙂
They need maintenance like anything else. I had a couple gens ago. Did go to 💩. But I didn’t really maintenance it.
Id be worried about that area 1 minute into your video. After a few years with my X2 the wind peeled all that rubber back clear along the whole back edge and started peeling the vinyl back. Design on this X4S doesnt look much different.
Not a single issue yet! Rubber is solid, not peeling, all the mechanisms work perfectly. Very happy
Mine did the same thing.
Maybe you mentioned it and I missed it but do you live in the northern states where it gets cold? If so, any issues with getting the cover to roll up? That's the only concern I have before buying this.

Where can I buy one
Got mine from realtruck.com sry so late I don't get on here much
Can you lock it half way open?
No. Rolled up all the way or closed.
People say after 2- 3 years it starts to fall apart
For reference, my X2 went 5 years before id say it should have been replaced. Now 7 years old and its destroyed. It lives Outside 24/7. My buddies X2 is now 7 years old and garaged every night. His one still looks great. Even still has the original felt. Both in Ohio.

Are you referring to the version before the X4s? because to my knowledge they resolved that issue with this latest version..
