Excellent film! I've seen this several times at Wilton Town Hall Theatre (Wilton, NH) as a feature before the annual Christmas showing of Frank Capra's "It's A Wonderful Life". It's such a beautiful film, and perhaps a bit ahead of its time in terms of cinematography and the modern-retelling-of-a-Bible-story storyline in film. All the quirky lines and bits that date it only add to its classic telling of the redemption power of the Gospel for ordinary people. Only through Jesus can you have peace, for He is the Prince of peace in the hearts of His followers. Jesus loves you all. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

The only place I could find this short film on DVD was as an added extra on a DVD of the movie, "Christmas in Connecticut", which was a great movie also. Except I cannot find those DVDs anymore. So I just shared this video with myself via email and now I can watch it every now and then when I feel low and blue. This video should be on every Christmas video sold also.

J. Carrol Naish pretty much plays the same Italian he played for an Oscar in the Bogart movie "Sahara" from 2 years earlier. Carrol still had enough "star" power for this little production. He starts as the sort of guy who always says, "Bah, Humbug!" He changes as he sees the overflowing milk of human kindness. So let's call this a Christmas Carrol.
I was one of the fortunate ones who grew up in this era when morals and decency and family values were at the top of the list! I just can’t understand why Hollywood can’t make these type of movies anymore, it just breaks my heart for the kids of today and the younger generation, they’ll never know what it was like! And that’s so sad.
Funny, one of my relatives said while watching this "we valued life a lot more back then" and I laughed so hard thinking about what was going on during 1945 compared to even simple things like overall quality of life, suicide, and murder rates today compared to then. That all aside though, shorts like this are endearing in their own way.
