My mother who was a family clinic P.A had to repeatedly asked overbearing parents to step out of the room when questioning teens about sensitive subjects or threaten to call cps. One girl brought my mother flowers thanking her for confronting her mother about the girl's S.A abuse from her stepbrother and finally having him arrested. A great deal of parents really are pathetic.

I don't think it's pathetic to want to be by your child's side in the ER. I think a lot of parents don't trust others. They are ignorant to the reason why the staff is asking them to leave. A parent who may be innocent of abuse but has trust issues doesn't give their children privacy except in the restroom.

I totally agree! Showing emotion demonstrates just how much they really do care about the children they cover on their channel. I can’t imagine how hard bringing these stories to us must be. It is so important though. People need to be made aware of what is going on. That is the only way we as a society can make changes so incidents like these no longer occur. This was a truly horrific tale and I do feel some sympathy for this young girl. She must have had problems with her relationship with her own mother. That is not an excuse though. We cannot blame the school either, but I believe that teaching abstinence only sex-ed is not helpful and it is a form of willful ignorance. Teens need options and resources for problems when they occur. The school should have a compassionate individual on hand to talk to teens about things they might not want to talk to their parents about. I don’t know how this girl thought she would be able to get away with what she did. Clearly, the medical professionals would have known she had just given birth and asked where the baby was. This is such a heartbreaking situation all around. RIP baby Alex.

I’m 7 months pregnant and everything I’ve heard about this case makes me sick. I understand being scared; we tried for a year to get pregnant, and I’m still terrified (but also so excited and ecstatic) of childbirth and motherhood. She had so many options: abortion, adoption, dropping the baby off at the hospital or fire station, hell, she could have probably handed the baby to a random stranger on the street and he’d still be alive! I under that this happens but I also know a girl who hid that she was pregnant from everyone but her roommate in college. Her parents didn’t know nor did the baby’s father or her current boyfriend. I was on the track team with this girl and I trained her her every day. And some of the things I said and did haunt me because of her lies and deception because I remember max lifting with her and there was an accident because I encouraged her to keep going. I knew she had gained weight and I was quiet about it because I thought it was because she was eating too much when transitioning from distance running to throwing. I didn’t know but she did and maybe if I had been more aware or just said something the accident could have been prevented. She also got the entire track/cross coaching and athletic training department fired because the AD couldn’t believe that no one knew and then shamed them for not knowing.
The sad thing is she still lies about it to this day. We know the truth only because her roommate had photos and documentation of trying to set up doctors appointments. So that’s my slant on this sort of stuff.
It’s disgusting what happened and how many lived were tarnished and damaged by this event. And yet to this day I keep asking why did it have to happen.

It confounds me that the medical staff didnt initially request Lexi's mom leave the room when they were asking her personal questions about her period/sexual activity. She was literally already an adult so her mom didnt even have to be in the room! I wonder if her mom hadnt been there if lexi would have given them an honest answer, or if she was just too much in denial herself

She wouldnt have told the truth because she'd be afraid of the doctors telling her mom or her having the baby and them finding out when they came back in the room and saw her with it. I dont know why Alexee didnt take the easiest and best answer which was to have the baby in the bathroom and just leave it there on the floor or something or hand it to a nurse in the hallway. Then the baby would be alive and its legal to give up your baby like that. They will take the baby no questions asked and give it up for adoption for you. Family not being there for their pregnant sibling/child is terrible, ESPECIALLY if it was from a S.A. However, I do see why there is a stigma around teens having a kid at 16-17, at that age you’re too young and immature to even know if you really want a kid for 18 years of your life. A very large number of teen mothers neglect and or abuse their child. I’m not saying every teen parent turns out to be terrible but at that age you barely know anything about life yourself

I'm gonna throw artesia high school under the bus for a second because I never liked my school in the first place but in April of last year there had been whispers going around the school about the whole incident. The school's response had been to email teachers threatening suspension if they spoke about the topic in class or allowed students to talk about it in class.
When school started again Artesia high school held a TWO HOUR LONG pep assembly to try and distract students from the current situation as it had really blown up over the summer. They never addressed it, nor did they apologize for ignoring the entire thing as it went down. Again, they reprimand any teacher caught discussing it still today.
My boyfriend is the child of the old cheer coach who quit after the situation came out, they had news stations showing up to their houses for interviews (because of my boyfriend is the reason I knew about the whole thing the day right after she was caught in the hospital). From my understanding, Alexi won't be serving much time and is attempting to be accepted into ENMU.
Once I graduate I plan on speaking out against Artesia high school. Despite our football team's success, the school is AWFUL. The principal is one of the worst and biggest contenders to the school's major issues.

To preface I am a parent of a wonderful 10 year old: This girl can be convicted of murder and also have my sympathy for being put in a situation like this in the first place. Yes she had a lot of other options but clearly, for whatever reason, she didn’t use them or felt like she couldn’t. Both of these things can be true. She is guilty but damn what a sad situation. These young girls/women having unwanted pregnancies and either out of fear or shame or simply being uneducated in what options are available, choosing to get rid of their children in horrible ways. I hope their legislators see the trend and work towards giving better education on those options.

I am pregnant with my second and I can say there is no feeling like feeling your baby kick. It's the best feeling in the world. However, a woman can have what's called an anterior placenta, where the placenta is in an odd place in the womb, in the front instead of the back. In those cases, women usually can't feel their baby kick because the baby isn't kicking the front side of the abdomen. However I don't think this was the case with the girl in this story. I think she knew she was pregnant the whole time. She's just using that "I got scared" explanation as an excuse to kill her baby.

Of course, I was a teen and I wanted intimacy. So I did just that. When I told him I wasn’t a virgin, he talked to me about contraceptives, took me to a gyno, and allowed me to start taking BC. I still am so thankful my dad was compassionate, understanding and honest with me about this topic. I couldn’t imagine not doing the same when I have my own children. I talked to my daughter as well about this sort of thing, you have to talk to your kid, boy or girl about this topic. She’s 15 now, and I’m going to put her on BC as well, I told her, if she does it before she’s married or an adult and she thinks she’s prego, she got to let me know, no hiding it, but also that just because I’m putting her on BC doesn’t also give her a free pass to sleep with anyone. We as parents can’t completely stop our kids especially when they are Teens, from doing stuff, it’s better to know than to be in the dark, and some parents scare their children rather than try to understand the fact that they will do things that we will never want them to or agree with. I’m happy that my daughter comes to me for everything, even as teen. So kudos to your father for being amazing ❤️🙌🏻

It's disgusting to see the way these young ladies are so afraid that they are so afraid that think the only option is to discarded their beautiful healthy babies when their are so many families desperately wanting what these young ladies do not... Don't be afraid to show your emotions, it's definitely something that warrants tears! What exactly would the parents say/do?
I am in a state in which abortion is illegal - even for women who are literally dying of sepsis and need to go to other states to save their own lives.
I'm seriously wanting to know: take a girl aside with her first menstrual cycle, get her to a gynecologist and get her on the pill - *hoping* that her teenage mind will remember to take it every day exactly on time, making sure she is not taking counter indicative antibiotics for instance...
I'm afraid the "just talk to your kids about sex" is way too simplistic in these current times.
Sure, teenagers have "raging hormones". So do married men whose wives are pregnant and "need" relief. And lots of other people in various situations. Do we teach teenagers that behavior doesn't have consequences, if it feels good do it should be the mantra.
I am glad that *finally* this first world nation of the US is allowing the over the counter sale of progesterone birth control pills.
Not all parents and families approve of premarital sex for religious or other reasons.
And believe it or not, there was a time in modern history when teenagers were not having intercourse.
      They survived.
      We as a society survived.

Please don't feel bad about crying--I cried too when I heard about this case. My first daughter would have turned 5 this month if she had lived. I was thankfully blessed with a 2nd daughter almost 2 years later but getting her in the first place was quite hard. We had the BS abstinence only sex ed in high school as well but I grew up with a combo of a medical book in the house that explained sex and pregnancy in great detail and parents that were comfortable answering my incessant questions when I found the book (I was about 9). I got in trouble at school for telling the other kids how to actually make babies LOL. Even though I am what you would call a very religious person, I still plan on telling my daughter everything about the birds and the bees, birth control, and so on openly and honestly. If she requests birth control, I will gladly take her to get it. I plan on teaching her how to put on a condom as well in case the boy hasn't learned yet. And if she does get "blessed" i.e. pregnant, I might be a little surprised but ultimately overjoyed in the end and will be happy to help her out. I've always viewed babies as a blessing and a gift and I'm super protective of them. I might not be the best mother as I'm autistic and Adhd (not diagnosed until after I had children) but my weirdness and bluntness about the whole thing might be a good thing. I had to go hug her the first time I heard of Alexee and I had to go hug her again just now even though she was in time-out LOL. Thank you guys for covering these hard cases and never shy away from being emotional. People NEED to feel emotional about these things--that's what makes us caring human beings.

I don't know if there are any high schools or middle schools that teach about the Safe Haven laws..
And in this day and age, with how many abusive parents there are, we cannot trust that they are learning about it from their parents!
Even if the parents aren't abusive... Most of them don't think to tell their children about this law because they don't think that this could happen to their child!!
I have all daughters, and I asked my eldest one who is 24 and has been trying with her husband to get pregnant and has had 5 MC, If they were ever taught about the Safe Haven laws in school or in college.. She said NO! She had only a vague understanding of what it was even as an adult!
I asked my youngest who is almost 16 if anybody at school had taught them about the Safe Haven laws since they've been going through 3 years of reproductive health about males and females.. She had no clue what I was talking about!
I told her exactly what it was, we looked it up for our state, and then I told her to please inform her friends, male and female!
If our children don't know about Safe Haven laws, then how can we expect them to utilize it?!?

@emeraldrayv3n in our profession, we focus on teaching our deaf students about "incidental learning". Much of what we know is overheard in conversations that adults have in our presence as children.
If my son is around me when I see a news clip for example, I make it a point to say hey dude, check this out. I explain these things to him without fear of repercussions because I know as hard as it may be to hear that the world is indeed a hellish place to exist, it could very well save his life.

As someone with a controlling mother, I saw her in Rosa the first time I saw the hospital footage. When a mother controls the narrative of their child's life through fear, information control is a major part of maintaining the childish dependency that they depend on to feel important. The way that Alexee reverted to childish behaviour when caught is a big red flag for me. It's obvious that Alexee was acting out of fear of her mother above all else to me.
That will never excuse what she did to baby Alex, ever, but ignoring this red flag would be an injustice to Alex just as much as letting Alexee off the hook would be. This is a situation where we need to address both sides of the equation if we want to be effective in preventing more babies like these from suffering.

I was looking forward to your video on her and her baby. While at the same time kinda hoping you guys might not cover it. The work you two put in to the details of these cases involving children is second to none. So much so that I've had to purposely not watch sometimes because it's not exactly the stuff I want running through my head when I get home to eat dinner with wife and kids.
I'm 38. My oldest is 22. I have a pretty damn good idea of the fear she was feeling and yet it ABSOLUTELY disgusts me at what she did. She was in the hospital when she gave birth. She wasn't at home or at school. Her mother infuriates me. Listening to her speak at the hospital and the day the officers come to arrest her is wild. When kids do some bad things and people say "It's not the parents fault" I can't help but disagree. When a kid grows up with a level head, good work ethic, strong morals, and true empathy towards their community people say, "He/she was raised right." You can't have it one way and not the other. Somewhere, somehow...she was failed. It doesn't remove blame from the girl at all but it adds responsibility on to the parent/parents.

My mother was pregnant three times by age 21, the first time she got pregnant was at 15 and she had my brother at 16. She gave birth to my other brother at 18. Granted it was all with the same father, someone she had been with since she was 12. However he was an alcoholic and drug user, he ultimately succumbed to his alcoholism at 55 and passed away with cirrhosis of the liver. She picked a poor partner and had children so young, it's no surprise that she had an abusive and neglectful father. Or that her mother passed away when she was only 6. No one ever actually told her mom passed. Just that she was sick. They said this even after her mom had already died, I believe. People didn't treat death the same or talk to kids about it back in the 70's like they do now. My aunt, her sister would go on to not be a teen mom, but to be a multiple drug addict with bipolar disorder and ADHD. Their father was a child predator who preyed on his own daughters like a sicko and was just abusive in every possible way it sounds like. I'm glad my mom didn't have him in her life or around us. As you can see, the circumstances she grew up in/with weren't the greatest; which likely probably contributed to teenager motherhood and her choice in her partner and the father of her children. She had saved money and stashed away a few grand only to find it gone and suspected he blew it on drugs. When she found out he was cheating on her, she left him. Some guy. She told me she'd pick her kids up (my brothers) from his house still wearing the same clothes she dropped them off in. 2-3 days straight. Absolute neglect.

I'm so very sorry, Yergy, that you've had trouble conceiving. (I also experienced problems, so I understand your pain) Please don't apologise for your tears or your comment. It must be so hard for you & Drewby to research these cases. I'll NEVER understand how a woman could throw her newborn baby away, as though the little angel is just trash!! It sickens me to the core!
Yergy & Drewby, I have so much admiration for you both. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for what you guys do!
    Sending love & hugs!

I can’t stand to even look at that despicable creature, especially because she had the nerve to SUE the hospital after SHE murdered her own child! 😣

Baby Alex, and all babies, should be given consideration for the miracle they are. Life sometimes presents a person with hard choices and you don't always have a long time to make the right decision...
Decades ago I was prepped for surgery to have a hysterectomy for Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer (the kind of cancer that travels all over your body). About 5 minutes before the surgery was to start the Surgeon told me that I was pregnant. He asked me if I wanted him to terminate the pregnancy or did I want to go home. I was totally shocked!!! This day was also the day of my Dad's funeral.
You all know that I took off home as fast as my husband could help me back into my street clothes and get me out of the hospital. I delivered a beautiful Miracle Baby 8 months later. I am still alive today because I made the right choice and lazers were FDA approved by the time I was able to have the surgery for the cancer again and the cancer had stayed in place for me while I had been pregnant. I would probably be dead today if I had been cut.
It is always better to make the right decision. Things will always be better in the long run that way....

I'm so glad you got your rainbow. I only lost one and it nearly killed us both (me and my husband). OUr rainbow arrived 2 years later. I always have to go hug her after I hear about a case like this.

The sad part for me is that most Hospitals, including the one that Alexis was at, is a safe haven spot, you can surrender an infant no questions asked up to 90 days old.

Just because she was in denial about being pregnant doesn't make her not pregnant... She most certainly knew that she was pregnant!!

Thank you for giving these kiddos a voice. As a formerly abused child, I really wish, even to this day, someone spoke about me. I know it's a terribly difficult service you provide, but you are giving us a voice, and showing us all that we can speak too. That these words and knowings are allowed in the world and we will still be ok. You are so loved and appreciated.

Seeing you upset really broke my heart. I had issues for a long time getting pregnant and was told after losing a child that I wouldn't be able to have children which resulted in me turning to bad things to cope with the pain of that. I was however blessed with two children but unfortunately lost two. My first would be 23 now if I hadn't have lost him. I was underage but chose to have my baby but unfortunately that decision was taken away from me and still to this day it hurts and it will always hurt as well as with my other child that didn't make it. I really feel for you and wish I could have given you a hug when I seen you get upset. You guys are amazing and are one of my favourite channels to watch because you can see how much you care. I really hope that one day it will happen for you because you would be amazing parents. Sending you lots of love and hugs xxx

Kudos to you for doing this story. It was raw, but you said what needed to be said. Love to you both and have a good Thanksgiving.
