I really like the direction hugo boss is taking with their fragrances, trying to make more long-lasting memorable fragrances instead of average freshies or something that has no performance.
I own Hugo Boss Bootled Elixir which I really love - However I tested Absolu 2024 but I have to say there is realy small differences as Elixir. It smells almost the same.
Crazy to hear your review as niche. So many say its boring and to save your money. Wonder how it will fathom in its discontinuation. I think its an amazing, super beastmode of fragrance. And yes you are right its a strong scent!
Loving this. And thanks Boss for the perfect timing for release. Fall time, cooler weather. Versace and Issey Miyake dropped the ball on timing this year.
Love it. Bought it today. First wear. A much more wearable and daily version of Bottled Elixir, which may to a bit too much for your morning coffee or for work. Not at all reduntant if you have Elixir. Similar, without the intense eastern labdanum and explosive power of the Elixir. Both have their place, and both are absolutely amazing. My Bottled Parfum is probably made reduntant because for an every day and more tamed fragrance, Absolu absolutely does a better job.
I'm reviewing this myself today and I can't help but emphasise the Bottled lines move away from the spine structure it used to have including the apple and spices. The new 3 flankers have all been centred around Amber, patchouli and frankincense. Patchouli being actually the most commonly prominent note in all 3.
I found it had a bit of vanilla going on in it, what do you think? I like this fragrance exactly because its leather smell isn’t too in your face prominent, like TF Ombre Leather. Boss is much more versatile because of that.
Thanks for sharing! Yeah the leather is definitely not on the same level of intensity as Tom Fords Ombre Leather. Boss Bottled Absolu (to me) is a smooth leather that takes a backseat to its woodiness 😊
This one blew me away smelling it in store today, first I thought it smelled very similar to the Elixir flanker but, wearing them both side by side, the Elixir almost comes across as a freshie. The only problem is that I'm not sure when I'd ever get to wear it, as it 's might be perceived as too challenging to the general public.
my words I own ELIXIR - I LOVE IT! But I tested Absolu and I have to say it smells almost the same as Elixir - there are only really small changes.... so no way why to buy this one...
I just got it macys 119 usd with a discount, i was undecided either to buy elixir or this one absolu after spraying both and 30 minutes later… went for absolu !.. i find it less complex than elixir and yes is very similar as Layton or carlisle of PDM … with less performance
I think you are one of the first to review this. I haven't seen it for sale yet in the UK. Btw, I've just picked up a favourite of yours, Van Cleef & Arpels, Santal Blanc. It should arrive next week.
@@jeanluc5311 when I smelled Absolu for the first time I thought I was going to throw up, i sprayed absolu and elixir on both hands and after few hours I actually smelled more absolu it was already very good and it is much stronger than elixir 👌but the first impression is the smell of a rotting corpse 🤢
Not a fan of leather personally, but im more into the crowd pleasing easy to wear stuff, no not for compliments, i wear fragrance for myself, its just what my nose likes lol im not into the niche style scents, maybe later down the road but for now ill stick to what i love
I feel the same way about the leather note. It smells like cigarettes to me and I'm a non smoker. I smell the smoke smell in Cedrat Boise and Rochas Moustache. I own them both and I keep trying to like them lol
In the drygown it reminds me of Xerjoff Tony Iommi Monkey Special. At least 50% similar. The opening is not that pleasant, reminiscent of cheap oriental fragrance.
Can’t knock Hugo Boss for not smelling leathery if that’s just what you expected… like, if it was Boss Bottled Leather, and it didn’t smell like leather, then sure - be disappointed. But you said it smells good… isn’t that what we’re asking for?
Good question 😊 While they are not the same, there are definitely some similarities and they sort of share the same 'scent style'. So in a way yes. Don't think you need both unless you absolutely love quite woody and sort of smoky scents, etc and want different variations of that stuff.
Sounds good. How similar do you find this to the elixir? I really enjoyed the elixir. Sorta in the same style of sauvage elixir just more woods and incense vs spice and licorice
It feels like they created Absolu (sort of ) based on the Elixir. With the core of both being the woodiness but whereas Elixir has a sort of freshness to it, absolu goes into a deeper and fuller woodiness + smokiness with a bit of leather to it. BB Elixir for a fresher take on that woodiness. BB Absolu for a richer take on it with an added depth thanks to the leather. BB Elixir got better over time. Not sure if it needed maceration 🤷♂️ Might do a comparison. 😊
Hi! Like I mentioned in the video, to someone else the leather in it might be something quite intense, but to me it's not the most prominent part of it and there are definitely other more intensely leathery scents 😊
@@rottenrebels I’ll have to try it. I do enjoy leather notes as long as they’re not overwhelming or too animalic. So you were expecting a more prominent leather in Boss Bottled Absolu? Expectations not met?
Boss Bottled Absolu is not my kinda scent at all, there is something that is off-putting for me in it, mayby it's the leather or it just don't fit my skin, i do prefere the ELIXIR...
I cant Respect Houses that keep making new perfumes and keep discontinued them . Hermes has like 10x years more than these new Xerjoff, PDM houses and has less perfumes than them... This is respect to their customers.
Not entirely true. It means it will be a hit or miss with the general public. Niche is more evocative. With designer, you are a lot less likely to have someone approach you and ask what you are wearing.
Hmmm....That new Boss Bottled is intriguing now. I have two Boss Bottled, 1 is "OUD" and 2nd is "Parfum" which both are incredibly good and I was very impressed. I have never thought I would be impressed by Hugo Boss fragrances before when there are so many other great designers fragrances. I also bought Hugo Boss The Scent Elixir (not the Boss Bottled Elixir) and I love it! I know you also love that one. I'm like you, I also love leather notes in fragrances if that's is done right and I'm still curious with this one although you were a little disappointed with the leather note. I should try when it hits the retailers here in Canada eventually.
You will have to let us know if it grows on you. It sounds interesting to me so I must try it. Like you say you have to respect hugo boss for taking risks 🫡

Dislike smells like musky body odor with vanila
9.5/10 for me. Absolute masterpiece! Niche quality!
@@DaneCologne compared to bottled elixir?
@@byMRTNjournals Elixir smells like Coca Cola to me. Absolu is woody, smoky, sensual and more masculine.
@@DaneCologne thanks. Yea I can understand the cola vibe.
It’s available in Germany and I used it a couple of times. I absolutely love it!!!
Hugo Boss is crazy with these niche quality scents lately. I really enjoy them all. Well done
In the drydown it really reminds me of Pdm Layton
I really like the direction hugo boss is taking with their fragrances, trying to make more long-lasting memorable fragrances instead of average freshies or something that has no performance.
This and they don't go the male leaning unisex fragrances path
Great impressions. Actually sounds pretty decent!
Hugo boss has been coming out with some very good fragrances. I ordered The scent elixir Confidently, without ever smelling it.😂
Forget the fragrance... drop a link to the jacket you're wearing.

Google…bomber jacket
Beautiful leather and smokey and creamy scent. Perfect for Fall/Winter

🙏 What are your thoughts on the previous one, the 'Elixir'? 🤔
@rottenrebels It smelt really nice I like how it wasn't irratiating. It was a smooth blend and smelt "really full" to put it that way 😂

The leather accord would be my no 1 reason too to get this. I love that in combo with Woods and spices. Too bad they didn't lean more into it.

@rottenrebels I'm a big fan of the Elixir. It was one of last year's best releases.
Haven't tried any of the new elixirs or this one, but whenever I find any of these 3 for a great deal, I'll puck them up.
😊 Would love to hear your thoughts on Santal Blanc 🙌 Highly recommend using that thing for layering as well 👌
@rottenrebels Will do my friend. It has been on my wishlist for quite some time. A great offer came up today, so the button was pushed!
Im wondering between this and Boss Bottled elixir , which one do you think is better ?
The absolu is the Best imo
I love both.

Absolu more gourmand.

When you hear "smells niche" that means it's weird...
Higher quality, more nuanced, better blended, etc. Sometimes harder to understand for new fragheads.
