What a clever take on the letter box with all the envelopes flying through the air and arriving at the box Chrissie, and it looks great in that lovely bright blue. x
What a wonderful little die set, and I love what you’ve done with it. That’s a lovely card and useful for many occasions. Thank you for sharing another splash of inspiration. You’ve inspired me to get this set when it comes out next year. It’s probably too late for this year. Have a great week . - Dawn 🌅🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
That's so sweet! I like the mail theme..."Heard the good news!" or "Sending get well wishes your way" or "You're invited" Again, multi-useful die. Great ideas, Chris. From Cheryl in AZ.
Love the dies and your ideas so much fun. But love most of all you talking to yourself I can hear myself when you do it loved the comment about the knife you make my day. Thank you so much love watching your daily posts 😍
I like that die! And I love your card! You could do all four seasons with a die like that, very versatile. I enjoyed your video! PS: The closed captions are back - hooray! 🩷
Love your self admonishments…they make me laugh. When I worked in an office and made an error I used to call out “ girl blunder”…even if I was the one that laughed 😂 love your card xx
I didn't knew the color on US mail box either, so thank you for this information 👌❤️. I am looking forward everyday to watch your art work, and thought behind it😀❤️
Good morning, Chris! It’s been so wonderful watching what you do with each days dies. I so look forward to watching you & Deb each morning while waiting for my husband to get home. He works the midnight shift at a 24 hour pharmacy. I just love your card today. It’s quite fun & the sentiment is perfect.
It turned out adorable I really like the way the winter weather is blowing the letters around.Your art of coming up on the spot with a little picture and bringing it to life is incredible and I love it ❤😊
It’s fun seeing you pull out some of the same dies and stamps I have accumulated over the years. Your stash is much larger though. I marvel at how you remember what you have. Perfect sentiment for the dies. Fun, fun card.
I do have heaps of stuff and I need to de-stash as I hardly have space to move in my craft room. I can remember lots of the stuff but occasionally I come across things that I have no recollection of purchasing!🤣🤣🤣
Well I've never seen a Blue Post Box before! I'm glad you knew immediately where it was from and coloured it accordingly. The way you layer dies make such a different to the dimension; it brings them to life. TFS 📭
Hello again. I believe the bottom section of the box is the part the postman opens to retrieve the letters. Our new boxes only have a small slot in the top now instead of flipping open to deter mail theft. These days thieves will take ANYTHING that's not nailed down. (Actually, I think an entire box was taken once!) This card is so attractive. I just got a 6 part Santa die from Gummiapan that I'm thinking of using with this mailbox. I think he's the right size. We'll see. Yesterday's gin is quite interesting - A Portuguese Shiraz Blue Magic gin. So far I've loved the selections in that calendar, too. See you Monday.
Goodness that gin sounded exotic ! I seemed to remember some mail boxes in the US which had a sticky out bit on the road side so that people could mail letters without getting out of the car. 😊
@@Chrissieannie Yes, they did. Now at our post office where you drive up to "conveniently" drop off your letters, they put the slot on the other side and no more part that sticks out. 🤷♀ You literally have to get OUT of your car to walk around the box to post your letters. It's bizarre. I always go inside anyway and post them there unless I just put the flag up on my box at home and have my letter carrier take it.
@ that's one service we DON'T have... Our postmen would never collect a letter from us for posting, we have to do it ourselves, in a post box or post office!
Yes, the default color for that model of US postal box is a dark, royal blue quite similar in tone to that used in the British flag. Princess Kate seems quite fond of that color as well. I should add, however, many cities in the US have programs encouraging local artists (many of them high school art students) to paint them to a "theme" of some sort. I live next to Lake Erie, one of the Great Lakes surrounding Michigan, and also one of the first encountered by the large number of cargo ships of all sorts that ply these waters as it is a great shortcut between ports and the north side of New York (for shipping things to the East Coast of the US) to Chicago Illinois for shipping things to the mid-west and all parts elsewhere in the US; not to mention all the ports on the Canadian side of the lakes. So, the theme for our area are those cargo boats, the lighthouses, and all that. Very colorful, in other words!
The top hatch opens up like a tray, so you can put short stacks of things and even smaller, flat parcels on it that are tipped to slide down into the box. The same design is used at many libraries for book and DVD returns. The door in the bottom part of the box can only be opened by the postal worker to collect the items. If I'm not mistaken, the ones I've seen in many British shows are painted bright red and are circular. These boxes are usually positioned so people in cars can drive up to them to mail their items without having to park or leave it.
I used to live in the US for a while back in the late 70's, so I remember much of this. Our boxes are indeed red, some cylindrical as you said, some are just flat fronted and recessed into walls. Where the volume of mail is not so large they are simply rectangular cuboids mounted on a pole. There are some post boxes which are painted gold... These can be found in the hometowns of various Olympic athletes who won gold medals for our country. The only other curious decoration that we have is that from time to time Toppers are crocheted for them, with topical themes. Take a look at the images here uk.images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=Awr.pFT.hlZnCwIA_lUM34lQ;_ylu=Y29sbwNpcjIEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3BpdnM-?p=post+box+toppers&fr2=piv-web&fr=ipad They're great fun and beautifully made.
Our mailboxes for regular post are solid blue, sometimes with signs on them stating pickup times. At the holidays our department stores set up red ones so letters can be "mailed" to Santa. :)
@Chrissieannie yes, I believe Macy's started it first at the holidays when I was a kid, now a few other large department stores get in on the fun too. They even have the letter making supplies there so you can write one on the spot to Santa :)
Oh how cute, l love what you did with it, similar to what l was thinking but l thought red letters, snow instead of leaves and a little Robin on the top. sentiment saying sending christmas wishes 😊 really liked the glaze you used. Thanks again. X
Wonderful card Chris, I love your use of the stencil in the back with the swirling letters. Lovely card all round. Thank you. I am trying to do the last touches to multiple cards laying around my desk. I find if I finish them right away I miss all the little things that make it special.
You are so welcome! I think that in the ordinary away I might spend a little longer or give more thought to planning, but for the calendar dies it's more a question of just get on and do!😊
Another lovely card but I was a little sad to begin with as mine came on it's own with no envelopes.I remembered our early bird die and I'm hoping that envelope is same scale ,I'm sure icand get away with it. When you were on about the craft knife and possible comments you may receive I wasn't thinking of the knife I was thinking ,oh cut a couple in craft card saddo that I am 😀
I would have a really good look for the envelopes, often people think that little pieces are missing but may have slipped out of the packages unnoticed. It has happened to me and others ! Do have a search! 🤔
I was obviously oblivious to its presence whilst I was working, but as soon as I watched the video back, I was appalled that I had left it there so long!😲
You always do a superb job! The postal box in US is a darker blue... photo lighting may make it look lighter but they are closer to a navy (like our flag (yours too)... and do have red, white and blue logos... Gummiapan, unlike other designers, does provide the added touch of layering... ugh
While I've been loving their dyes AND your series. Christine, since you've introduced us to them, there's no way to change the type of currency used on their site. It is Swedish, I guess? Nor is it clear if they ship and sell to the US, Canada, Australia, and so forth. Nor do they appear to be connected to any of the many other paper crafting retailers as their products don't show up at any I've checked. I'm very saddened by this as I'm not going to buy something if I don't know the cost, or if I'll get it!
They ship worldwide! You can translate their site into English, by clicking the English button at the bottom of of the page on their website. What I do is to pop the amount of my orders into this website www.xe.com/ to get a conversion amount in my own currency, so I know what I'm dealing with. However in the description of my videos is a list of places where they can be obtained including a company called Color Me Nordic, in the US!😊
