Thrilled to hear that you saved your die and that your new machine arrived, Christine. This card is cute and out of the box. Your creativity knows no bounds!
What a fabulous idea Chrissie with the fly agaric toadstools so beautifully coloured over the plank wreath, and the added acorns look wonderful, and the finishing touches with the sentiment across the middle plank and the bit of twine fashioned into a double bow are just perfect...I love it. x
Sounds like quite an adventure getting the bits out of your broken die cutting machine! It’s funny how our brains work isn’t it, receiving one wreath inspired another quite different one…I love how it turned out💕
Terrific card, love the idea, very rustic. Great that you got your goodies out from your machine. You would have been quite relieved. Thanks Christine and have a lovely day xx
Oh my goodness! That was quite an adventure getting your old machine apart! That would happen to me. You could have made a blooper video of it! What a cool card! Just love this one! You are so creative and talented!❤❤❤
Hi Christine. I really enjoyed watching you make this card and I will definitely be giving it a go Loved the idea of the wreath made out of fence palings. Thanks as always Christine. ❤🇦🇺
How imaginatively rustic; definitely needed a twine (rather than die cut) bow. Very realistic mushrooms and acorns and the additional plank across the middle to hold the sentiment was the perfect finishing bit! Glad you were able to beat the misbehaving die cut machine into giving up its prey!
I think you should write a sort of comic book of all the fun ideas and experiments you have had changing the original items into something different as well as the experiences you've had with your equipment. You always seem to be able to "pull the cat out of the bag" and be able to laugh at the situation and enjoy what you're creating. THAT experimenting is a real asset, and enjoyable to watch/listen to your thought processes. Love the rustic plank wreath with the beautiful red mushrooms/and green acorns for a beautiful thank you card.😉
This is so kind. I do love experimenting; not everything works out well, but we learn by our mistakes don't we! I do love have a bit of fun! Thanks so much🥰🥰🥰
Oh my!! Laughing so hard from your description of the die removal process. So sorry about your machine but glad you got your die back and have a replacement on the way.
I remember the woodland die and your card very well. 🥰 I'm so pleased that he's sent you more dies to try. It's a win-win-win (you, him and us)! LOVE what you've done with the fence posts - so innovative! I know it was from different sets of dies, but it looks so cohesive that you would think it were a complete set. Lovely! And thank you for updating us on the cliffhanger from yesterday - I was on pins and needles. 😅 Sounds like you were able to release a lot of stress and frustration in the process too! 🩷
There's nothing quite like wielding a hammer now and again to get one's way! The WD40 was the finishing touch. Now I need to use it on my squeaky chair! (The WD40 Not the hammer)🤣
Thanks for sharing the tale of retrieving your plates and dies. It's wonderful what a bit of brute force and WD40 will achieve! I love the rich red fungi highlighted by the rustic tones of the wooden planks. Only you Chris, would attempt such a project and make it work! TFS 🍄🍄🍄
Oh my word l wouldn't in a million years think of making a wreath with fence panels, it's amazing, my gast is flabbered 😂 and the mushrooms look very 3D. What a triumph. 🥳
Dropping your machine would have been a great video!!!!!!! haha Glad you are back in business. Love this wreath. You and your adventures are so fun! oxoxo
I really like this card. All your cards are beautiful, but this one just seems different from your normal style, and I like it equally well. Job well done! I do learn a lot from you. Thanks for teaching us.
Enjoyed your story of how you got your plates and die out of your machine. Sorry it broke but it’s always nice to get a new one too. I would have never thought to use fence posts for a wreath but it turned out really cute. Have a good rest of your day.
Hi Christine. So happy to hear you were able ro "rescue" your die and plates. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your new Platinum 6 to arrive. Wow, I admire your creative genius in creating a wreath from those plank die cuts-- you truly have a "think outside the box" ability. Well done on the card. ❤ 🇨🇦 😊
That's really nice and rustic looking,a bit more unusual than the regular wreaths. Glad you got plate and diies back. I wonder if your neighbours were watching, lol
Good to hear you got you precision plate and the die out eventually, the neighbours must have wondered what you were doing in the cold we having. 😅. Interesting dies, and as always you make something so lovely out of it. ❤
Love the descriptive nature of the destruction process. I was picturing me doing the same thing. You might not have been laughing at the time but you provided a laugh for me today. Clever wreath using planks and mushrooms.
I will have to keep an eye out for those precision tools ( the brick, the sidewalk etc…) to release jammed plates. 😊 I ran into the same problem this past summer. I am enjoying my new machine. Love the rustic card. Thanks for sharing.
Great use of dies from fence panels to wreath. Great to see you getting given dies to use for your channel it's a great help for inspirational ideas, I often get put off buying unusual dies as im not sure what i would create out of it. P.S. Your chair needs a bit of that wd40 you have a squeak😂😂.❤
HUZZAH! YIPPEEEEE! You got your plates back! I was surpised that once you got to the metal structure holding the rollers that there were no screws holding it together. I guess they must have redesigned the guts. I still have their original red model & it's good information to have should it ever break beyond fixing. I almost had a heart attack the 1st time my husband took a hammer to it (he calls it "percussive maintenance"). I was cheering you on during your description of your extraction method (lots of "you go girl" & "you got this"). It was quite exhilarating! I love this card! I keep forgetting how disress wax really enhances the color making it so much richer. (Now where did I put it?) So adaptable for sending to a man too! I'd only need to switch out the bow for a rustic gummiapan tag stamped with happy birthday attached with a die cut rusty nail. Definitely a good card to keep at hand!
Your cards are lovely. My magic mat had the same problem a while ago so in desperation I put it in my sink flat and poured boiling water on it and left it till water went cold. When I retrieved it all bits were floating, there were none left and it was in lovely condition, I couldn’t believe my luck, I thought I was going to ruin it but it worked beautifully!
1st of, love the card as I've always enjoyed "wreath" shapes made from a variety of odd bits! 2nd, oh what an odyssey it has become to recover your precious bits from the broken machine! I remember how frustrated I got many years ago while in college the first time when I couldn't open a jar of turpentine or similar liquid, as I was experimenting with oil paints for the 1st time and needed to clean - what to me at the time - were these very expensive brushes. The liquid was in this plastic bottle with a childproof sort of cap; and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it off! (That kind you're supposed to press down while turning!) Foolish me, I decided to take a straight edge razor to the bottle top to cut it off. Well, you can guess what I did. The razor slipped and sliced into my hand just below my thumb narrowly missing the tendons. So, there I was in my dorm room pressing a clean towel very firmly onto the gash to stop the bleeding, and realizing I somehow had to get somewhere to get it stitched up. (I was afraid I might have nicked the tendon too, as I couldn't move my thumb right.) Keep in mind, please, that this was wintertime and it was quite cold outside too. I couldn't figure out what to do as I couldn't stop the pressure on the cut, but I couldn't get my coat on either as my hands were busy. Thankfully my roommate walked in about then and got rather freaked out as she doesn't like the sight of blood. She did call the campus police, however, and they got there pretty quickly. Not that the cop had any training in first aid, as - in spite of my explaining about the need for the pressure - he more or less just held my hand. Blood started spurting everywhere, of course, but I got my coat on really fast. (my roommate did faint!) But I got pressure back on it pretty fast and got taken to the health clinic and got fixed up. Thankfully there was no damage to the tendon, but I've had a lovely scar on that hand as a permanent reminder of how stupid I was. Oh, and I threw out the oil paints and have refused to touch them ever since!

I love your wreath, I have some real fence posts but I don't think they would work as well. I am glad you got your die and plates out of your old machine and happy that Amazon has next day delivery. Take care, I hope to see you tomorrow.
It’s not a magnetic mat it’s a magic mat and the bits become embedded in the surface. Heating is the only way I’ve found to remove them easily. It flattens the mat at the same time, which is good !
I feel your pain over the die cutting machine Chris 😢I’ve broken a few machines, electric and manual ( you would think I would have learnt by now) 😅 anyway I’m back using my good old (ancient) Cuttle bug and I have to say it’s the best machine I’ve had 😊 hahaha. fabulous card ❤
I was skeptical but you managed to get a really wonderful rustic wreath out of those planks. It's great. I'm so glad you were able to retrieve your precision plate and die. I've only ever used my precision plate once on a fiddly scripty sentiment. Mostly I've been able to just use my regular plates especially since I got the Switch. I also would just pull out my Original red Sizzix with the lever for detailed dies and it would work every time no matter what so I didn't own a precision plate until I got my Switch and I only got it because the place I got the Switch from had such a great deal on them both. I hope your new machine arrives promptly. We're forecast to break temperature records for this day in history tomorrow. No rain in sight. And we had a small earthquake this morning. No damage. It's just a jarring way to wake up in the morning. The epicenter was only about 10 miles away which made it quite a jolt for such a small one. Have a great day.
OMG I’ve never experienced an earthquake I don’t think! Quite scary I would think My new machine is here so I’ll be using that tomorrow! It’s quite chilly here !
What an adorable card. I feel like I am in a forest in my old home.Your skills and knowledge to use just the right colours and arranging everything so perfectly is pure genius! Thank you for teaching me/us your wonderful art.(did you purchase a new die cutting machine, the one that does the cutting by itself? )That is my next purchase in February and I can hardly wait. If so please let me know what you think of it and is it worth the price. The colour of the wood logs are perfect as is everything on the card.❤😊
I replaced the machine which broke with a like model. I do have an electrically powered die cutting machine and also an electronic cutting machine. They each have their uses !
My memory is bad too, it never used to be as I was a carer to my partner (now my ex) he had 2 strokes so I had to think for me and him. But then we split up and a few months later I had the vaccine and since then my memory isn't good and I get lightheaded a lot. My Dr's won't agree it's since then and have even done tests on me for Dementia and Altseimas of course I haven't got any of that but at least it was proven. I'm 66 and retired now but I have been unable to work since the vaccine anyway so it doesn't feel any different. Beautiful artwork xx
I struggle with blending alcohol markers and wonder if coloring the whole thing with the lighter color then the dark shadows then blending with the lighter… have you found any other tips for me that are easier please. You make it effortlessly lovely or am I to close to my own and too critical
You should have got your hubby to film you throwing and hitting your your die cut machine it would have been a great video😂😂😂no sorry you had to send it to the bin.
Thrilled to hear that you saved your die and that your new machine arrived, Christine. This card is cute and out of the box. Your creativity knows no bounds!
I enjoy what I do!🥰🥰🥰
Love how you got your dies loose from your broken machine!
Just a little brute force !🤣🤣🤣

I struggle with blending alcohol markers and wonder if coloring the whole thing with the lighter color then the dark shadows then blending with the lighter… have you found any other tips for me that are easier please. You make it effortlessly lovely or am I to close to my own and too critical
Sometimes I start with the lighter shade sometimes with a darker one, it just depends of what it is and what cardstock I’m using !
You should have got your hubby to film you throwing and hitting your your die cut machine it would have been a great video😂😂😂no sorry you had to send it to the bin.
What fun that would have been🤣🤣🤣
Christine I broke my also - is there somewhere I can send it. We took apart but it still won’t work.
I didn’t even look, mine has been used daily for some years so I simply bought another.
I pour boiling water over my magic mat which cleans it in an instant, this also flattens i.t
Yup, it’s the heat that does it!
