So... You took a shield tank, without shields, with unengineered HRPs, against a Hydra, lost the canopy... and then killed the Hydra anyway. There are those of us who speak your name only in hushed tones and with the greatest reverence. Things like this, and your ability to make it all look effortless, are why. o7, CMDR!
@@WarCrafter42 thats kinda my only gripe with the off center seating as well, having a giant canopy brace damn near dead center in your view. Other than that though its a fun ship that helped get me into my conda
the hard point is very poorly positioned to maintain contact for vent, and the ship cooks even without shields. Hard to orbit up with the cockpit view to make it work, though good radar management can overcome it. The ship fares better in AX as a shields on team player.
Thermal Vent helps keep your heat down, but it is no use in GETTING your heat down. When gauss cannons fire, they instantaneously produce a huge amount of heat, but the thermal vent beam gradually transfers heat onto the target. There will be a split second of heat over 20%, and the thargoid will re-lock-on, and deal a little damage to you
So in the build, the hull reinforcements and main hull have no Deep Plating experimental. Is this on purpose? Also the Power Plant is Stripped Down. I'm a noob engineer so forgive my stoopid questions...makes the build look cheap to put together, tempted to try it out. The FDLs amount of utility slots makes me drool.
haha actually no lol, there is no good reason :P basically when i'm doing these reviews i'm just putting together the modules i have to hand :) i have a lot of HRP's in storage in varying states of engineering and I forget to check if they are fully engineered most of the time. with the hull it was soetihng that was engineered remotely on my carrier so no experimental effect. I would definately advise getitng everything fully engineered but I was just making do with what was available. So funny though that exporting the build from Inara tells such a story :D
The canopy was my biggest issue running the FDL. Great ship and fun as hell to fly but given the size and location of the canopy it blows really easy. Really annoying having to rush back to a station in the middle of a bounty hunting session cause of a cracked canopy.
When you go out hunting, I almost, ALMOST feel sorry for the Thargoids. Just for the wondering. Have you found a ship that you just plain could not make a viable AX fighter out of?
I really am interested in fighting thargoids more, but I just really don't want to do any more grinding. I've done soooo much fcking grinding in this game

This is the most informative review I’ve come across so far.
Thank you for the video, Commander.
Keep up the alien extinction.
May I ask which title you prefer?: Teacher, Professor, Proctor, Instructor, I wish I could think of a few more.
Glad I’m not the only one who likes the off center cockpit

Why not add a 4A Beam laser with Thermal Vent??? Wouldn't that help with the Heat issue??

Yup.. keeping to my chieftain.
Might make a new build for AX out of Krait though.

Nice review Katie, but flying a FDL for AX without Gatling gauss is selling it short :) - CMDR Mechan
Nice video!

Fdl is a nice alternative to the chieftain. Not a perfect match, as compared to the challenger, but still capable enough in the right hands
the FDL is a great ship but the canopy.. i just cant.. even the python is hard to fly for me lol
