      Im sure the faster times in general can be attributed to better technology, training and access to more advanced training for younger sprinters on top of just raw talent. Im sure theres more to it but thats just the obvious to me.

    Nobody talks about it, but speaking from experience, it’s the shoe technology.

    • @madMARTYNmarsh1981
      @madMARTYNmarsh1981 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +9

      It has to be. I am from England. At 16 years old, I sprinted 100m in 11.4 seconds. Not exactly fast compared to these lads, but it set the county record at the time. I'm 42 now, and my body hasn't aged well (13 years in the Army and too much rugby) but with the new sprinting shoes from 2023, I was still able to finish 100m in 12.9 on track. I have looked after myself the best I can, I'm still strong and I have a lot of loading/launch potential in my legs so I get off the line fast, but I should see a bigger decrease in sprint speed after 26 years. Out of curiosity, I ran the 100m on a school field, grass, no sprinting spikes, just regular running trainers. My time was 16.1 seconds. I don't remember the gap being so significant from grass to track when I was a teenager -2 seconds at the very most? To my knowledge, track surfaces haven't changed that much; the amount of spring from the track feels similar (accounting for age and the resultant memory fatigue) and the grip was close enough to what I remembered that I couldn't tell the difference (with the same memory caveat as before) between them.
      I appreciate that diet and training are constantly being tweaked. New legal supplements (I hadn't even heard of Creatine back when I was young) are used, but I can't see how a legal supplement would give that sort of boost.
      So we could have one of, or a combination of these potential explanations:
      1. An exotic, undetectable P.E.D. upis in use.
      2. Sneaky spike technology similar to the long-distance shoes that caused so much controversy a few years ago.
      3. Some of the sprinters could be lying about their age; it happens, no one should dismiss it because it is rare.
      4. These lads are phenomenal athletes and sprinting is set to have its records shattered.
      I hope it is 4, I want to believe it is 4. But I will not close my mind to the other possibilities. However, being a phenomenal athlete should not necessarily lead to accusations, but questions must be asked for sport to remain fair and viable.

    SUB 10.... in High school??? Lol
    Theres been Olympic finals that have barely cracked 10 sec in the past few decades, but now we have 17 and 18 yr olds dipping 10 on the track. 😨
    Craziness.... I think it's simply because kids are peaking quicker, earlier then in the past.
    Meaning, Idk if an 18 yr old who runs 9.98 in HS.... will automatically be a 9.7 monster come their mid 20's.?🤔 In fact, that time might just be the fastest they'll ever run, or close to it. I think these HS kids are peaking physically much sooner. Certainly appears that way....

    I think for short sprints there really are the top guys who will show in Paris Coleman, Lyles, Kerley and TEBOGO the GOAT
