  • It's a simple task to complete the oil change on a 7.3 gas Super Duty. Even though it's simple there are a few areas to check and inspect to make sure you'll have years of service out of your rig. I show the few important areas to lube the suspension and driveline as well as common failure points.

    Mine takes 8.5 quarts to full on the dipstick. Also great tip on the 3/8” drive extension for the spare tire.

    My 7.3 Godzilla seems to take about a half quart more to get the dipstick where I want it. Great tutorial on how to maintain these trucks, you covered just about everything! I'm in Arizona too but my garage is nowhere near that awesome, I'm doing it all with jack stands in the driveway which means I'm not doing much this time of year haha.

    Love the wheels but covering the hub is no bueno. Great looking truck.

      I agree. I tried to convince my parents to run with out the end cap, but they like the way it looks!

    Have your parents had any major issues with this truck in the 75,000 miles?

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      They have only owned it less than 10k miles. No issues to report in that time frame. It was a one-owner prior to them.

    When i do my oil change and put exactly 8 quarts it calls for it looks a little low on dip stick. I trust the 8 quarts more then the flimsy dip stick. If i were to fill it to full on dip stick it would be more than 9 quarts.

      I always wonder which I should follow. The spec or the dipstick. I typically follow the dipstick.

    • @rockie307
      @rockie307 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DrivingForwardBuilds I follow the spec, but remember where it is on the dip stick so you know if it's ever getting low. I wouldn't ever let it get below or above the fill lines but have seen some vehicles where if you fill it to the top line its way above spec. To much oil lowers fuel economy power could even get air bubbles. I figure the engineers know how much oil is best, Oil pans are consistent, but dip sticky can vary and are more likely to be off a little.

    How are they liking the bed cover?

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s been great. I actually borrowed the truck to pick up another car this week with a ton of parts. It was great to cover the parts up in the rain.

      @@DrivingForwardBuilds I love mine as well. It's not perfectly dry in some areas but acceptable

    Get that stuff off the water heater, that water heater needs to breath. Always maintain a clear area in front, all around and on top of the water heater. If it starves at all from air it will run rich and cause issue with the burner assembly plus it could become a fire hazard.

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nothing “on” the water heater itself. 30” clear air space on one side and the side with insulation panels is 12”. Both of which are more than the airspace to the wall. Is that enough?
