This video is 16 years in the making and I'm excited to finally release it to the world. In 2005, after two years of working for the Peace Corps in Honduras, I jumped on my trusty Trek 8000 and began pedaling north. The destination was Boulder, Colorado-4,000 miles away. I had no idea what I was doing, but I figured it out as the journey unfolded through Honduras, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico. Along with my friend Jeff, we had the adventure of a lifetime. This epic bike ride is what inspired a life of documenting adventures on video. *There are no drone shots and no GoPro footage, this is standard definition footage from my little Sony Handicam.

Says Ryan: "Those worms don't want to come out yet. They still have some growing to do." Says me: Now I know what you meant by 'raw footage', Ryan! Holy cow, kind of a real-life Aliens thing going on in your shoulder. That aside, this was, by far, one of the most interesting stories you have told. I love the juxtaposition of some of the harsh living conditions of the people you met along the way with their absolute down-to-earth friendliness, kindness, and joyfulness. Great work. You have certainly lived a full life so far! Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us. Pete PS. So glad you were not harmed in the horrible event yesterday in your home town. I pray for those that perished and were injured and hope everyone can help spread some peace and goodness to offset the violence and evil.

Such a great insight into Duzer ‘the Lad’, and there’s so much spontaneity and a real sense of a journal written on the hoof. I think the older tech adds to the nostalgic effect, grounding it firmly in its time rather than detracting from the enjoyment. Best bit - your interaction with the locals and trying to pop the bots! Worst bit - definitely the poor game cocks.

"Now what do I do?" You changed a lot of peoples lives and after that moment continued to do just that! Even inspired me to get back into cycling and currently planning my first bikepacking adventure. Amazing video. Would love to add a subscription after this video like everyone else, but I've been subbed for a while. Keep being you man! The positive vibes are contagious.

We just stumbled onto this on our TH-cam feed, it was enchanting. The botflies, man, though. I was shouting at the screen "Don't try to pull them out!" We didn't really get the whole story on how you were able to get rid of them, whether they were already dead in there or what, I'm glad you didn't get a massive infection. Ah, youth. A great little film, we enjoyed it very much.

This is beyond legendary! He travelled all that distance before we have Google maps, Uber, and all that technology!!! There was so many possibilities that he could be lost in the road, but he made it back home! That's crazy!! You should be in Guinness World Records for being the toughest man alive!!!

Thanks for sharing. You are an inspiration to me. I am 37 years now and I have always wanted to bike everywhere since I was a kid. And now I have started. Since April this year I have only used my bike as my transportation method for my self and my family. I liv in Norway and I am going to do this for life. Much love from Norway and once again thank you.

Truly inspirational and heart warming as usual. Your work over the years has been such a pleasure to watch and experience. THANK YOU for sharing!!! Your Insta post this morning put my mind at ease knowing you were OK after the unpleasant and disgusting event that occurred. My heart goes out to everyone effected and the community. Watching this video with your excitement to return home, announcing to the city "Boulder I'm Home", makes yesterday's event feel like my heart has been torn out of my chest. When its that close to home, its rough. Im on the front line with these kind of incidents and they are terrible to work. Having to care for the unfortunate ones in such a senseless act of violence and loss of life. Life is precious and no one should ever have it cut short like that. Ill continued to bless those effected, your community and your work. Stay strong BOULDER!!!

This was a fantastic and epic voyage of the heart and gives me a while new perspective on your channel. I smiled when you stopped in Omoa, Honduras, where I was working in a clinic in 1987. The coastline leading to the border recalled so many memories. I would never have dared to make that trip, but now I can through your story.
