    That was my first bike when i was 16. Mine went really well, 70 mph no problem, great acceleration it wasn't till i went to Honda to buy some parts for it that the bloke there told me it had been fitted with a 100cc H100 engine 😂 wish i still had it.

      Thats super cool! Always love a slightly bigger capacity engine swap using the same brand.

    My first bike back in 1986 over here in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 before moving onto a 125lc 250lc 350lc and on and on here today with an MT10 and an R1 .. never will forget my 50 gave my first taste of independence and freedom

      They say it's more fun riding fast on a slow bike than riding slow on a fast bike. I tend to agree! But the 350LC would give those words a run for their money.

    I had an MT50 many years ago when I was 16, 3 years ago I purchased one in boxes, it was really bad. I've rebuilt it to 'as new' but there was no way I was going to leave it restricted to 30 MPH so I used my 2 stroke knowledge to full port the engine. It runs a re-profiled head with a working squishband. The exhaust looks stock but been modified internally so that it actually works as a proper expansion chamber, it also runs a 6 speed gear box from an MTX80. It also runs a bigger than stock carb and a programable ignition system. It does an easy 55 MPH on the flat and over 60 down hill. I have other bikes but my MT is my 'go-to' bike, it's just good fun to ride!

    Great video. I have the 1991 model. Here in Sweden they are restricted to 1hp and 30kph.

    • @SmallBikeStuff
      @SmallBikeStuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      That seems quite difficult to live with! Haha. Do they get inspected by anyone to check the speed?

      Yes, it seems like that is the police's main priority. @@SmallBikeStuff

    That thing looks like fun. It sounds like you are going irresponsibly fast while in reality you can hardly keep up with traffic. If you rode that anywhere in the states you would eventually get a concerned citizen yelling at you haha.

    • @SmallBikeStuff
      @SmallBikeStuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s exactly it! Going full speed you’re still not really causing any mischief. Super fun to ride.

    They were very popular in the Netherlands, super easy to tune and people like myself that lived close to the German border often installed German 80cc engines that for some reason were available and super cheap over there. Great fun!🙂

      @SmallBikeStuff  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’d then have to watch out for the police and their portable Dyno power testers right? I love all these stories coming from the Netherlands!

    little blast from my youth,,, my best mate had one brand new, look the part but it was so slow in the UK they were restricted to 30mph,, another mate had the MB 5 which was almost the same bike just lowered and more a street cafe racer style,, i couldnt afford a new bike so had an old honda Cub 50 but that would do 50mph they laughed at me to start but i used to blitz them on the roads,,,

    Ha, my first bike. I fitted racing drop handle bars on mine with an Autisa 65cc Bore kit. RM125 rear shocks from an old dual suspension model. Got me in way too much trouble as a 16 year old.

    My youth!!! Had several MT's with 70cc and modified carburetors/ exhaust systems. Runs pretty well - at the end I installed a 80cc engine with 110 cc Malossi Kit - this was really the end level. But I had to look for the police every minute.... at the end I suvieved 🙂

    Very good video. These were very popular in my youth. Especially as back then under 18's were restricted to 50cc bikes.
    Which part of NZ are you from? You don't sound very Kiwi.

    Every man and his dog had these in Sweden when I was 15. 4 speed.. 1 hp.. no license needed from 15 years age. These and DT50 definitely the most common mopeds mod 90's in Sweden. Zündapp still way cooler.
