I'm building a small fishing boat in my shop right now. I got the main sides and bottom together and started to seal it. I decided to try poor mans fiber glass (canvas and waterproof wood glue) and I'm really impressed how it turns out. I thought I'd have to use atleast three coats to get it thick enough to work. Well after sanding the first coat and applying the second coat yesterday, this stuff is good as fiberglass. I'm glad I did spend the extra money and headache with fiberglass. After sanding this coat, I'll be ready for paint!
Certainly gives me confidence in the boat I want to build! I especially like that you didn't try some crazy splicing of the bottom sheets. I want more rigidity so I plan to do two layers of ply and not overlapping the seems. Have you used fiberglass before? It'll be my first time.
I would have filled the hollowed parts with spray foam for extra safety so the boat doesn't sink if it ever got damaged, than you could save it and fix it
that boat cut through that water like a knife! nice reebok strip on the side lol i see some pressure treated lumber in there but why not the whole boat?? other q's are those screws stainless and are they self tapping?? i would worry because that looks like a hefty screw adn so many of them going through that thin strip looks like 1x2 or less. other than that you built the "sh$$" out of that boat!
@@fishingbear5538 i used body filler to flatten the surface then paint it with epoxy primer before finishing it with rust-olium marine coating boat boat bottom paint.😊

now that is some good advice. i would add also make the whole boat with pressure treated lumber not just part of it

that thing looks really small but the speed that thing is going is incredible. might even be a 2.5. the only reason it can go that fast is the v hull

The width is 46inch and 13feet long.it weighs 75klg.without a motor.😊
