Hope for improvements on UE docs, for all tools - editor, blueprint, c++, etc, as currently if you're not partners with Epic, you're going to have hard time while learning the tools

I love Amy Hennig works , she wrote my favorite game Legacy of kain I think it's one of the best dark fantasy games stories out there , it's just sad to see her hype a super hero empty game that will defiantly flop but it will sell cuz the people never learn .
I also got tricked and hyped by trailers and bought games on release like fallout 4 and was underwhelmed
It's sad that the best game I've played I enjoyed and really got addicted to and invested with it's world is Elden Ring , it reminded me that games still worth it
I hope the industry leaders see the flaw and but down the greed , games are a huge market and hyping and tricking people will work for time then it's going to be disaster
Games aren't like movies , you still can go back and enjoy older games and that's what a lot of people recently are doing
As a long-time developer, modder, and player, as soon as Chapter 5 came out I noticed the animations were incredibly fluid and I would cycle them in different directions while just appreciating what was going on. Now I see why! I 100%'d LEGO Fortnite up until the update for Chapter 2, and it all really shows the amount of effort put in. I played on PC, Xbox One, AND Nintendo Switch, and the performance and intricacies were so obvious and clear to see. When I first started doing TH-cam videos as a kid in 2006, I dreamed of the future, and what a lot of people today don't realize is this is the future, we are here.
@UnrealEngine Implement contextual search and ability to download to PDF/XML for import into an AI LLM training model would be the game changer.
Animation tools look amazing.

I REALLY hope that improvement to parallelism is actually a big one. I am a little afraid it’s not as I feel like they would’ve talked about it more, but it’s one of the biggest things I think need to be improved about game engines in general, not even just Unreal, but it’s especially good it’s happening in Unreal given how many games use it.
Games nowadays are becoming extremely CPU limited. Our GPUs are extremely powerful but the games we play have engines that really only utilize single core performance and therefore hold our GPUs back. Why? We have processors with 16+ cores now available to consumers and we still are using mostly a single core? It’s such a waste, and pointless performance loss. We have the hardware, now the software needs to actually utilize it. It’s easier said than done of course but this is the next thing that needs to happen for games to have vastly improved performance. Unreal 5 specifically is extremely expensive on the CPU. But it’s not because the latest i5, i7, and i9 can’t handle it. It’s because it’s using a small percentage of the horsepower available to them.
Yes, the Marvel 1943 "demo" or "technical snippet" looks fantastic, but it's hard to get excited over a concept that may not be fully realized by the time the project is finished due to current console hardware constraints. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Fortnite and Lego updates as those are basically locked in at this point.
Yes... I'm very cautious about such demos nowadays while looking from a different perspective. While it looks impressive and very much cinematic, it doesn't mean anything if there isn't actual gameplay.

It looks awesome. I would preffer such sceneries:
1. Beautiful rustic nature with rustic old village houses
2. Fantasy with castles, tombs, vulcanos, lava, forests, magic.
3. High tech modern futuristic space scenery.
4. I miss some cancelled Unreal 1 effects like fog light, fire light.
5.I would like to see place with multiple see through portals for example one in dusk or dawn in lava world leading to evening in cold mountain snowy world, other one leading to the forest in noon, at other one to the spaceship place where spacesheep is in space nebula. It would be great to have different worlds within one level with one knot/node world habing see through portals in proximity each leading to different worlds with completely different settings and time of the day from each other. One could have 3 suns, other one could be revolving around huge planet on the moon of that planet, other one could be in deep space, another one in lava world with dense dark violet or blue or red clouds like in quake 1 and dark castles and lava, another one winter world at night with snow world and another one beautiful noon in the rustic forest with ooolllld vilagr, another one on modern spaceship, and anotherone underwater base and another one on Mars or Venus. It would be great to have multiple settings in one level with see through portals where you can look from one world to portals leading to other worlds and jump between them.
UE5.4.1 The bug issue with the motion graphics function remains unresolved, the same as before; Especially when generating SVG models and opening them after saving, if the axis center point automatically deviates, the use of the animator function above is also prone to failure. When the animator switches to Sequence control, the effect is unstable or ineffective. Material designers cannot save multiple effects, and custom colors for material design become invalid after switching text parameters to semi transparent----Recently, text bugs have been discovered, text animation strokes, the preview window is normal, and the MRQ rendering output has no strokes. After the preview stroke is saved, it directly returns to the default first material when opened, as well as texture cloning, and the preview and rendering output effects are unstable.

UE 5.x is a another significant leap for Epic and whole industry. Clearly Epic with UE wants to be the first who enters and wins the uncanny valley. I am only missing OG Unreal Tournament... not sure why Epic dropped its development and not even supports UT3 anymore.
A little disappointed that there was no tak of Project Avalanch, but everything else looks pretty cool, I'm excited for the future or UE!
Its in the preview release though and several content creators already have looked at it, if you just wanna get an introduction...:)

No, they said they are still refining it and won´t release until full release, so still a few months possibly.
The 500 animations are coming "later this year" after 5.4

Dawg it's bewildering to me that these presentations (not just Unreal's, but so many in the games industry) are *so* awkward and uncomfortable. It's always as though the speakers aren't natural speakers (and I get that- then hire someone that is?), or they don't really know much about what they're speaking about (not the case here).
It does make it impossible not to see though once you've seen it once. That weird speak about the Epic Games Store. Weird.

Would appreciate it if Epic would have fixed the documentation for Unreal Engine. The docs are very bad. Resurrected their forums and provided support for UE4. Otherwise, everything looks good...

15:26 you actually could have shown each of Cap's foot prints dynamically leaving a trail as he walked here. Right now it looks like he's floating above slightly above the bridge snow. Would have showcased the tech you were talking about 1 min ago.
BTW Naughty Dog have been doing footprints for how long now?? No excuse for other game Devs not to have this in their games or demos in 2024!!
Well Naughty Dog has there Own Game Engine called Naughty Engine and Physics engine and some other stuff so they can get there own Engineers to add that in because they get paid to add stuff to there engine if they need to whereas Unreal Engine has Multiple things they are working on from Chaos and so many other things

My point is that in 2024 a lot of the tech that has been around for years, should be easily togglable in a game engine like Unreal (or even Unity), which the team should have done in their showcase last night. They literally just talked about dynamic terrain, then ignored it in the very next cut scene 🤦🏽♂️.

More recently I was the project lead on MonoGame Framework project when it started and people like Supergiant used it for Bastion or Polytron for Fez and others back then to get their XNA games onto other platforms. I'm currently on the board of the MonoGame Foundation. I'm using MonoGame on an after day job project.
I have been in IT etc for 30 years and I try to keep up with gaming tech. What about you?
