I used to enjoy taking tests etc. Then I started getting pressured by my family. They were never happy. I eventually went NC. Now I am feeling happier
That's because Ella's not pressured to be smart and she can still have fun like a kid. Patty wasn't able to enjoy herself and she was forced to use her smartness

Yes it’s nice of the dad for Ella to be a kid, but he’s trying to pressure her into being one. She’s still one, but she does have her own mind and decisions, so he could’ve asked her how she felt about everything and support her.

Agreed Whole heartedly ! The difference between the two is just that the grandmother forced her daughter, where as the chid's dad went in the extreme opposite direction, neither realizing that there was an obvious middle ground that would have worked for either. Thankfully they both learned from their mistakes.

This made me cry. My mom is a very controlling person and also beats me up so bad when I was a kid. I never enjoyed my childhood. I am smart and have lots of talents but she never appreciated it and wants me to excell more. I couldn't keep up with her expections. All I could remember was the thousands of times I hid somewhere whenever I cry because of how cruel my mom was to me. I am 41 years old now and been taking medicines for my depression. My mom is still the same. Maybe I'll never ever be happy. Maybe the only time she will realized my value is when I'm finally gone.
