    My dad bought an SKX013K back in 2003, he passed away in 2005 and left the watch to me. Still wearing it up to this day, in fact, I'm wearing it now. Miss you dad, great job in choosing the SKX013K.

    • @luckyguntausky
      @luckyguntausky 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Saruul Myagmar it has several scratches but only visible once you look at it closely, it still looks brand new to be honest, no discoloring whatsoever

    I'm 6' with a 6 3/4" left wrist and the 013 is my current daily wear sport watch. It's a great watch. The 38mm gives it a vintage vibe that I prefer over the larger 007. I too took it off the subpar Seiko bracelet and wear it on a two piece black Nato style band. Your Strap Code looks great too. Great video.

    I bought this watch a couple of years ago and I absolutely love it! Will definitely stay in my collection forever. The sizing is just perfect for my fairly slim wrists. I just wish they made a pepsi version!

    Other tip for small wrists: Seiko Baby Turtle srpc37 or srpc39 - divers with 42mm diameter but crazy small lug-to-lug size...it easily works for 6inch wrists and up

    Great review! I have its older brother SKX031 since 2004, it is 39mm in diameter and the winder is at 3 rather than 4 and comes with an oyster strap. It still keeps great time!

    I’ve owned one for about a decade, and it’s never let me down. Like you say, I also wear mine when I’m swimming at the beach. I’ve used different straps, but my favorite is a simple, blue NATO strap. Definitely my favorite watch.

      The Modest Man thanks. I checked the watches, but I guess I'm spoiled by the price and quality of Seiko but the watches you listed were out of my price range aside from the invicta...and the invicta is a quartz. I don't mind quartz, but I just want an automatic diver around 37-38 for around $150-200. the skx013 is a great watch but there's no variety...I would love some additional color options.

    My wrist is 6". Small wrist by any standard. The SKX013 was my 1st watch and I totally agree - awesome fit for small wrists. It's substantial enough to wear smart/bus-casual and jeans/shorts. Looks appropriate with most my outfits. Not too expensive so I don't obsess over scratches. I love it.

    I've had the skx 007 full sized version since 1996, but recently picked up a new old stock skx 013. I never really looked at this model before, but I was really impressed by it and have worn it a lot this year! The lug to lug width is not much different from the 007, which surprised me , so although it is smaller at 38mm, it actually wears like a normal 007? I don't know which one I would choose if I could only have one, though? Luckily I don't have to!

    Get an Islander 38. Hand made by Marc at Long Island Watch. 300 bucks (cheaper than an skx013) with a lumed ceramic bezel, drilled lugs, sapphire ar coated crystal, solid bracelet (Strap code I believe). Can't beat the price because the SKX013 is crazy now. I paid 360 for my skx009 and a strap code lmao.

    Nice video, I have that exact model and I love it. The 013 is really the only good dive watch from what I can tell for people that need 40 mm or under. I would also recommend an oyster bracket as it looks way better than Seiko's rubber and jubilee.

  • @leehargreaves7473

    I have the SKX013 and I quite like the Jubilee strap. Yes, it's rattly and snaky but I don't think I'l replace it for a while. When I do it will be for a black leather, white stitch buckle strap.

    Great video, great watch. The only design problem is that it's 'too thick' (as said on the video), technically the movement is a little outdated (no hacking, no hand winding), if none of these are problems, anyone with small wrists (like me) will not find a better affordable, small 'truly' diver automatic watch, period.

      Humberto Ramos Costa ...but what country is the watch from? Any idea?

    • @HumbertoRamosCosta
      @HumbertoRamosCosta 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never saw any skx013 from Japan, the 'made in japan' models ends with an J (like SKX007J), but even it is disputed, people say that the movements are made overseas and the watch is only assembled in Japan (if so). Anyway with the affordable Seiko divers every comparison i saw say that there is no difference in quality from the J and K versions.

      conradwasalski4200 before you start talking BS about the jubilee bracelet how about trying it first. There's nothing wrong with it, it's comfortable as it's much more flexible than oyster etc. It also is one of the things that make the SKX what it is, if I wanted something more modern looking I'd get one of the SRPs or similar.

      Hand windable means you can manually wind it up, rather than letting it wind itself with movement. Hacking means the second hand stops when you set it, so you can synchronize it to an exact time source.

    What about the skx173 at 40mm is it still too big for smaller wrist?

  • @BeerMakesHappy
    @BeerMakesHappy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello Brock,
    I really like your review of the SKX013! I'm really looking into buying a diver for myself and am a bit in love with the Seiko SKXs. I Have pretty small wrists as well (around 16cm or 6.3 inch) and I really don't know, which watch I should choose. On your wrist the 013 looks awesome, but I ordered an Invicta 8932 (almost identical in size) to see how it looks on me. The Invicta seems really, really small, almost like a Lady's watch, but the 007 might be too big. Sadly Seiko stopped producing the SKX031, which had 40mm in diameter and would probably be perfect for me. Which watch should I order?
    I'm going to buy an SNK809 as well: with a nice leather strap, domed sapphire, and polished case, but I want something bigger "just in case".

      I would definitely go with the 013 and not the 007 if I were you 👍🏻

    Brock, your videos are getting better and better, I love the new setup and I really love your laptop stand but I don't think its in the "MY GEAR" Section of the description, do you think you could tell me what it is?
    Also what did you do to your forearm?

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! The stand is from a company called Grovemade (it's the walnut color). Will link it up in future videos. I fell off a skateboard and cut up my arm and leg. It was a ...learning experience.

      Cool thanks! I'll look into getting one for myself, it'll match my desk! I hope your arm and legs heal up nicely, at least you got the experience...I guess?

      Yes, already healing. Had to skip a couple of workouts, but I'm back on the board and feeling good. All part of the process!

    let us know when you find an automatic affordable dress watch for us small wrist blokes! The only one i can find and love right now is the tissot visodate, such a beautiful watch and is 40mm (which i believe is the max for me) but is quite expensive for me

    Check out the Tudor black bay 36....perfect size, dressy and sporty. Nice seiko man. As for the submariner....too many people have them lol, great watch but hate it for that reason. But if its your grail watch go for it :)

      +Random Reviews thanks! Dude the Black Bay 36 looks awesome.... honestly though, right now my grail is a Datejust 1603 with a grey/black dial (one day). Would also love a vintage Omega dress watch in the meantime!

      The datejust is perfect and suits your style from what I can judge you from YT. Very classy piece, perfect size and a icon. I like the vintage subs tho. The reason I like the Tudor 36 is because of its vintage looks and style. Awesome channel, just came across it and will sub,

    I'm thinking of purchasing this watch. However, I worry that I can't set the time precisely when I need it (I work on a ship and we often synchronize our watches before a difficult passage). Any thoughts?

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can’t easily set it to the second (although it is possible). If that’s something you’ll be doing all the time, I’d recommend finding a different watch.

    Can anyone tell me how is the accuracy of this skx013 after years of use ?

    • @tomellingham8627
      @tomellingham8627 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luis, I have had a couple of Seikos with the exact same mechanical 'movement' inside them. They are both at least six years old and one of them I wear nearly every day - at least 300 days a year. The difference being mine are SKN models and not waterproof like the one above.
      The worst they ever get is 24 seconds out per 24 hours, and that's only if I haven't worn them for a week or so. Maybe they take a day or so to get fully wound? Once fully wound, they have never been more than 12 seconds out per 24 hours, at least when I've checked them. You can rely on them. Brilliant watches.

    • @boris3484
      @boris3484 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomellingham8627 mine as well, meaning 5min off every week, in my opinion, that is very bad performance for an automatic watch, I would not recommend the SKX

    • @ICXC0
      @ICXC0 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boris do you wear the skx very often? If not, that might be the problem because skx have about 40 hours of power reserve in less than two days and you have to be a very active person to “charge it”, if you will, because of the lack of hand winding
