- Soldiers have been rigorously training to become Britain’s next military leaders. Gunners from 7th Parachute Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery (7 Para RHA) have been braving the harsh terrain of Sennybridge, Wales, in an effort to boost their rank to Lance Bombardier.

The thing i love is how eventhough the last man was behind, he carried on and the fact that the instructors werent angry he was last but instead proud because he tried his best! Best thing about the army... Brotherhood
Last guy dies. Pays to be a winner. No place for feelings
@ @@TheActiveAssault ??? geez wouldnt want to be in your team...to be a leader you have to show proper empathy. if you dont youre not a team player, no one will follow you because lets face it, you dont care and worse, you might be a sociopath...but hey it pays to work as a team and leave no man behind...thats how i work...so far, thats worked so good.
@@TheActiveAssault you dont seem like a leader.

@@idid1609 i dont think youll really understand this even if i explain it to you, but war is a conflict management system....peace keeping and peace making are all conflict management systems...These people are part of an age old system of soldiering. it is that very tradition that allows you your freedom of stupidity.
I like the mentality of the British Army. Very disciplined and tough.

The uniforms are ridiculously antiquated with the dopey hat and the rest of it looking like it needs colour restoration. And let's be honest wash your faces you are not fooling anyone with those camo face stains. The Americans seem to get things done with a smart clean appearance why do the british feel they can gain a tactical advantage from looking like tramps? This isn't the vietnam jungle those days of close quarters camo are no longer nrcessary.

But if you got any special pressure the British people will make sure that you will be satisfied.....

its standard to look both ways here in ozzie when we get contacted we set up a 360 til we can identify the size and where the contact is before we decide to follow threw and eliminate the threat

I am honored and privileged to serve beside the British armed forces.
I would not be able to cope with the pressure and stress. These young men protect what I can not. Amazing what a human can be trained to be. And the British do it best.
these sort of training should start in pre-school. You cannot train the mind & body the same way as you would after a certain age. The Spartans new it, and proved what early military education is worth. If you compare the British army to shit, it always seems better. If you were training from 3-4 years and up, today you could be a beast, able to cope with pressure and stress in the most critical situations. It's like football players. Sure, you can get a bunch of guys and train them to "play" football in a short period of time, and if you didn't know much about football, you would say they are okay. Imagine an army when today's special forces are just regular solders. That is how it would be, and better.
Im british and this looks like so much fucking fun
Best? I dont think so mate.

After the budget cuts, the new training will be giving them 5 pints of larger, spinning them and telling them to run in a straight line.

They couldn't afford the straight line. lol
Lmao😂funniest thing all day

Joking about it but in actual fact Armed forces budget has been increasing ever since may took to parliament eeeeeeeee
you'd think it's easy doing what they do because the camera doesn't show you how truly cold it is especially after getting soaked wet multiple times. then after that obstacle course they needed to do some light mission and drills etc it's tough to be honest. carrying all that weight you wouldn't even feel like turning your head to the right, left or up because of all the energy being sapped away from you, much less run or perform contact drills etc. kudos to those guys in the film!!!
Marklin Ho solid description. Especially about the incremental movements seeming completely impossible when you’ve been thrashed around already. I miss it but also, I don’t miss it xD
Paul Wilson I guess the training does give you a reminder of the good times when doing it with the other guys and how it made an impact on your life.
But you also don't miss it because of how difficult it was back then.
It's like breaking yourself down and building it back up stronger than ever.
SITTING WATCHING THIS TURNING UP THE HEATING THAT EXTRA LITTLE BIT MORE
Funny how the cyber warrior wannabe's are having a go at someone on the video... When a contact is called YOU NOT only look to the contact point but you do a SWEEP or all around to make sure there are NO OTHER contacts or anything that can or could be considered a danger... But then again I think those commentating have only ever been on a leadership course @ KFC!
These young lads are giving their best. The Artillery we have in the British Army are second to none. I'm ex Foot Guards but I'm proud of the Gunners. Sorry meant to say Our Gunners.
You hit the nail right on the head. Civvies...pffft!
Alright pal calm down

The first line "Keeping warm is the first challenge" If you're doing Sennybridge in the winter you can forget that right away. You're going to be cold wet and muddy all the time and all you're kit is going to be soaking wet. Sleeping in a wet sleeping back with soaking wet boots in freezing weather where you're just praying for daylight so you can move around and try and warm up. I have never been so cold and wet in my life but I still have great memories of my time there. RGJ 1975.

Sennybridge. It literally never stops raining.
Being army airborne myself, it’s crazy to see how similar our tactics are with the British. Patrol bases are the same, Ruck marches formations the same. Where we set up our gunners, how we take contact. All very similar.
They are artillery

I'm just in awe of the British training, THIS is why British and Australian troopers are the best in the world, and why the world DEMANDS that we train them, and yes, that includes America!
Where do you think Delta Force came from, and how they maintain their standards?💪💪💪
Been there done that, late 80s early 90s.

Best experience of your life that you never want back again. Ever :)
I went through this training, it is a very hard and you need to have common sense and fitness. It is considered you have past records in something. The priority we have is splendid. I came home with legs hurting and arms, but it was worth it, today I am here. With a full uniform, gun, and a Sergeant rank. I would like to thank all my fellow comrades and companies helping me in Fights worth the while! 🤝👍🏻😁💪

God damn Brecon beacons is a hateful hateful place! I did an exercise with the Blackwatch there years ago it was -12 and digging trenches was incredibly difficult while the grounds made of frozen rocks!! A week we were in the field. Truly grim!
That would be concrete hill made from slate. We dug and we dug for days and still did not get far. It was -14 which was easier then -1 or plus 1 as frozen water is better then rain.

Apparently if your in the middle of active combat, you can pull out a little carpet and pray to allah.
Believe me mate you weren't cut out for it anyways.
It’s an ad mate it’s not representative of the real thing it’s just to make it look good to the people in Whitehall and the public, you are the type of person who would have believed the old Frank ads from back in the day were what being in the army was actually like.
We are decimated now. We no longer have any morale because of the cuts to Pay, Pensions,Promotion, and overall prospects.
Our British Army is so small we don't count as an Army in NATOs eyes. We are at about 77,000 soldiers. As recruitment continues to decline and retention becomes poorer, we are in the worst shape ever. Despondent, Disillusioned angry and Bitter. Look at the New AFCAS2018 it's the worst one since 2007. Year after year we are shit on and overworked, under paid, and completely unappreciated. I can't ever recommend joining the British Army for the next 25 years. This is when the pension will be reviewed.
Rip, my friend is joining the army this year. He's 16, 5'2 and like 100lbs. He is pretty fit and can do all the exersises and what not but Idk, I can't imagine him having a nice time there.
@@Masa6x of course he will have a good time, the army look after their men. If he's looking for a good pension and long term might be worse but he will probably do under 10 years and move onto a better job. Life experiences are more than worthwhile from the army. Friends, professionalism, fitness, qualifications, pay, experience and finally ur best years
Code 9 well said mate !! Spot on! Zero moral these days
There's ment to be know Morale, you understand that?
They are preparing for a civil war not an external threat , this is why we have gone to armoured vehicles that can be used in citypes and women are be g brought in a given guns as a great equaliser.
I join in February, partly due to the fact that we're not doing great and some people need to get up and do something about it 👍🇬🇧
This looks fun, I’d be up for doing this.
Go on lads!
yep been there done it , best training area {infantry} in Britain
Interesting at 3:17 (I may be wrong or it could be my old eyes)but one of the chaps appears to be wearing a prototype helmet that delivers similar results to Predator armour!
I'm far too soft and pdgy to do something like this, much respect!
I'm an army cadet with Hereford and Worcester acf, I passed my 2* fieldcraft at Sennybridge training camp. we got there at midnight on the Friday, put our basha's up at 2am on the Saturday. it was cold, wet, and our morale was right down. it definitely taught leadership. we all helped each other get through it thankfully. I cant imagine how hot they must've been by the end of it.
Where they put up their harbour area was where we put ours. We were learning harbour drills and set our snap ambush exactly where theirs was. and that road you see them patrolling on we had to patrol pretty much 6 times a day to get to our training areas. it was definitely tiring, and stressful. but it was very fun.
Shush
