  • Not an amazing cinematic travel film or vlog, but hopefully useful information if you are planning a trip to The Galapagos Islands by land. What are the islands, how to get there, wildlife you'll encounter, and how much it will cost. The Galapagos Islands are one of my favorite travel locations and I wish that I had some of this information before going there on my own last year.

    Leaving for a 2 week tour of Ecuador next week. Will be spending 4 days on Santa Cruz to finish. Loved the video. Can't wait to check this off my bucket list.

    Stunning footage! What gear did you use for all of the underwater shots and vids?

      I use a Aquatech water housing for my Sony camera. It’s primarily a surf housing though. There are better ones for diving.

    Thanks for the video. Great one!
    A breakdown of the price will be helpful... another time! Maybe when you go there again ;)
    ps. I get what you mean about the water but they also have plenty birds and animals in land worth to see etc.

    Hi, you mentioned you liked San Cristobal the most. What did you like the most over there? I will be visiting only 2 islands, trying to dicide between San Cristobal and Santa Cruz.

      I liked the dives over there. Also the size of the town.

    I'm not sure if I missed it, but how much did you pay for your flight from Quito to the islands?

    Hi! You mention the water being murky…. We are a family of 5 planning a trip to the Galapagos. Our goal is to see/swim with the sea lions and giant turtles, explore and more. We are looking at late May. We love to snorkel but we are not scuba certified. Is the water always murky this time of year? Is it still good enough to snorkel??

    • @Benj_Steele
      @Benj_Steele  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d have to research when water clarity is best. That being said, it was amazing most of the time just murky that one day. Might have been due to weather or the location. I’d double check on that as seasonality might make a big difference. Have fun, you’ll love it.

    Did you need a wetsuit? How cold was the water?

    • @Benj_Steele
      @Benj_Steele  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pretty cold, but wetsuits are easy to rent everywhere you go!

    what's your thoughts on doing this with children,,, age 6 and 8

    • @Benj_Steele
      @Benj_Steele  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Chris, honestly I'd hold off for a bit, but that's maybe just me. The kids would definitely have a great experience, although they may find a few of the water activities a little challenging or much (maybe depends on the kids). I suppose it could go either way depending on who the kids are. Although I was really adventurous and loved the outdoors as a kid, I might have been best suited for a trip like this at 10+. I guess if you have the cash to maybe go back when they're older, send it.

      Summer in Ecuador is from December to April , June to October is not summer there , a bit cold and the water is cold

    • @Benj_Steele
      @Benj_Steele  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey@@jillcarman8031 , you're absolutely right. Sorry, I misspoke saying that I left for there around summer my time, not that it was summer there (sorry my bad and confusing). You're absolutely right the water was a bit chilly, however, I didn't find the isn't too cold for the most part. And I'd venture to say the tourists are less? I absolutely loved it, but I guess I could see arguments for other times of year!
