When I moved to Toronto in 1982 the first record store I went to was Sam The Record Man. The store was enormous and Sam Sniderman greeted me by saying You look lost. He proceeded to show me around the store and introduce me to his sales team and stressed that they will find what you want. Before the internet this meant massive cross referencing books. I say this because back then the stores were staffed with customer service people who loved what they were doing. Today a visit to a store like Kops or Sonic Boom is devoid of customer service. Complete indifference is the order of the day. And calling used records from 40 years ago vintage as a way to jack up the price is quite a pisser.
LOVE Grace. Always wanted to see her live. Been trying to hunt down Hurricane for the longest time now. Almost 10 year hunt now. But epic album. Probably my fav of hers.
Glad to see you out and about. Been missing your videos. Get the YES album. Bloodrock 2 is a good album. There are some great albums there. What were the prices like ???
Hi Christina, I really enjoy these store videos.... Always good to start with a bit of Undertones playing in the background... I haven't seen that Pickwick T.Rex Greatest Hits Vol. 1 in years, it was expanded into a double and came out as The Collection.... love the Bowie wall... nice to see Squeeze's Argy Bargy in the background.
Yes, that store appreciates the Brits and glam (like us) but because the owner is a cool Brit so it gets it. We have alot of Brits that live here too. Love your eye though. LOVE it.
Love that villains sign, willnever sell mine for obvious reasons. Saw a pretty good disco one in the bargain bin. Ypsilon not bad , check it out. Store looks clean
I love these digs. Saw a Phil Ochs record in the flips that’s pretty iconic. Pleasures of the harbor. Very good album. Though it’s folk. ABC was a fun band. Oh, I saw the Peppermint Rainbow. Need a Laugh? Flip it over and check out the polyester suits.
Taking you vinyl record digging through Toronto's Kops Records a local franchise that recently opened a store in the Greektown area! Dive in!

Nice vid sis! That’s a cool record store. They seem to have a great 45 section with a lot of Soul 👍🏾👌🏾❤️
Most definitely, she's a beaut.
Mops is a great store..they have another great location in Oshawa..hope all is well Guru❤️❤️❤️❤️Glen
Yes, they are a staple!
The First Pretenders is a must own ! Grace Jones does a good cover of Private Life but James Scott rips an incredible solo in original version 🎸
LOVE Grace. Always wanted to see her live. Been trying to hunt down Hurricane for the longest time now. Almost 10 year hunt now. But epic album. Probably my fav of hers.
R. Dean Taylor. I don't think I've ever seen an album of his. His hit was Indiana Wants Me complete with sirens as they go to arrest him!
Nice store!
The first white artist on Motown.
The Vinyl Guru is like a Pinball Wizard, with crazy flipper fingers.
I have to get to that Kops in Greektown. I’ve never been! The QOTSA cutout is awesome. You rock VG!
Happy too see you back! :)
Thank you, Al! Toodaloo!
I've always gotten kind of a creepy vibe from the Koppels but I definitely did a double take seeing Yoko's Fly in the cheap bins!
Right young lady, you go straight back to that record store and you buy that Slade Alive LP you flicked straight past!!!
Great video by the way 👍👍👍
LOVE Slade! Noddy Holder is a legend. I have it or else...you know what time it is!
