    I think people are confusing low porosity with product build up. You should honestly be able to go up to 5/7 days without using products.

You may want to check out the ingredients such as glycerine and the how it interacts with your hair and your environment. And consider sealing in the moisture with an oil such as jojoba or with a light butter once you have successfully hydrated your hair which comes via water. Keep in mind, our hair at least mine loves water. Lastly, consider not covering your hair in the shower so that the steam can refresh your strands. Be well.

    My natural hair is dry and frizzy even when directly under the shower, the water just runs off without soaking the hair and the hair doesn’t clump. This is especially so for the middle and top of my hair which aren’t heat damaged, whereas my heat-damaged ends can get soaked and clump together. This is why I figured I have low porosity hair.

I think why the misconception of low porosity hair is hard to moisturize is because people are not really working the products or water in. I’m kind of new to the game so that was my first thought when I heard of the properties of low vs high porosity. So I’ve been so confused this whole time as to why people keep saying their low porosity hair is dry. I’m like but once the water gets in there it stays so…. Why is it dry? Could it be build up cuz you don’t shampoo enough? 😮
    Edit: I realized that first sentence ran a little long so I broke it up lol.

    Idk what other people are doing, I just know how my hair behaves. In the beginning when I was learning my hair I did have a hard time moisturizing it until I started the indirect heat method, but I was also using any and everything when I was in that exciting honeymoon phase with my natural hair too so … but my hair isn’t hard to moisturize at all and it retains moisture all through the year when I’m being consistent with my wash days and overall routine. In fact, usually people with higher porosity are the ones who struggle with moisture retention because their hair loses moisture as fast as it drinks it … that’s always been what I’ve heard and seen from ladies with natural high porosity and also ladies who’s hair became highly porous due to some kind of damage.
    Also, I never get product build up. I’ll refresh my hair once a week to keep it detangled and moisturized, but product buildup and actually seeing or feeling gunk from products sitting on my strands has never been my experience. I have low density hair and fine strands but even when I use heavy products this does not happen to me.

    Low porosity hair have a shine to the hair shaft the cuticle have a bond that allows the medulla and the cortex to be locked in with its own moisture so that’s the reason why low porosity hair is very dense and it doesn’t need a lot high porosity, hair, or whatever comes in three texture form, and it can be very dry and brittle, depending on the curl pattern with the hair shaft. It can be a little bit different, then low porosity hair, even though you have a low porosity hair that comes in the percentage of how the hair traps, the moisture in the cuticle cortex of the shaft of the medulla in each strand of the hair

    I recently discovered i have low porosity hair and have been doing a deep dive and everyone on social media keeps talking about how to get moisture into the hair. But i've been so confused like that is not even a problem i deal with. In fact, I took a shower 5 hours ago, and it's STILL moist from that lmao But even when it's fully dry, it feels smooth and "moisturized," just easily weighed down and products (especially "moisturizing" products) just sit on top of the strands and looks icky, hence me trying to deep dive and find good advice. This video FINALLY made sense and made me feel not crazy!

      There is no shampoo and conditioner for low porosity hair. Porosity just describes how efficient your hair can absorb water or products. @@AfrikanHairGod Thank you for breaking that all the way down for me. Well, what do you recommend for very curly, very dry hair? My hair is shedding badly when washing to the point it’s scary. I need a very moisturizing shampoo and conditioner what would you suggest? Thanks so much for your reply 🙏🏾

    Idk why I’m listening to hair tips from a bald guy but is this true for low porosity straight hair?

    • @AfrikanHairGod
      @AfrikanHairGod  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would answer you but I'm just a bald guy that happens to be a hairstylist and salon owner... So I don't know. Ask someone with hair 🤷

      @@SlytherinQueen537 no offense taken. So tbh curl pattern or lack thereof has no impact of how porosity affects hair. They are 2 distinct characteristics

    Then why tf can't water enter my hair, yet can't stay moisturized for long ?

    • @AfrikanHairGod
      @AfrikanHairGod  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If water can't enter your hair then why does your hair revert and get frizzy? Hair is a porous fiber and you saying it can't get wet speaks to your misinformation and misunderstanding about your hair? Low porosity doesn't suggest that hair can't get wet... You should do your research

      @@AfrikanHairGod I am Arab and I did not understand what you were saying, but my hair I think is low in porosity. I do not know what you are saying in the video. Can you write what you were saying so that I can use the translator? My hair is originally curly, but it has light curls. It is not African It used to shine, and when I activate it, my hair becomes normal and soft, and I love that because it is known that curly hair fluffs up when combed, and because I have grown and lost all that shine.
