The only reason that Gaijin succeded is because they don't have competition in tank "realistic" games. They put out enlisted with the same greedyness and they failed massively, because there were better WW2 shooters to play. If someone made a better alternative, everybody would have abandoned War Thunder. There is just one problem: no one wants to do it. Why: they are scared of failure because they see war thunder and think that Gaijins monopoly is to powerful.
World of Tanks is the only other alternative i can think of that’s even close to War Thunder. And even then it’s far from realistic. You can just shoot at the engine enough times and eventually the whole tank will go boom. Realistically shooting at the engine or even the radiator or transmission will immediately immobilize the tank. And if we were being ultra realistic the engine and all other components would wear down over time and eventually you may have to J out.

As a guy that has like, 3 Japanese battleships Grinding here is much more painful than ground, I do like how the AA is an absolute menace to CAS, making CAS as not as a problem as in tank does, it does however, suffer badly from balancing, if heavy units are almost useless in GRB, in Naval RB, the bigger guns you have and the bigger you are, the more likely you win. where other lighter stuff needs to aim at specific parts, battleship can just sneeze on them and make them lose 50% of their crew, don't even try to be daredevil destroyers like in WoWS, DD here move very slowly, and the closer you get, the easier for the big ship to hit you, as secondaries can be controlled manually

I think more so the new players weren't coming, that's why. Biggest whales for Gaijin is those who watch Top Gun and download the game, realize it's gonna take forever to grind your way to F-14 and just pay 60$ to get the top tier jet, if he stays and pays more, even better for Gaijin. If he leaves then they already got their money. They asked Steam to remove the negative reviews because it pushing off a lot of new players.

It does. But I’ve been playing for 6 years, and stopped last December. The game is just getting worse. Gaijin is getting greedier. Yes, we made our displeasure known last year (or was it the year before?) and you could almost smell the sweat as Gaijin had a panic attack about their gravy train going off the rails. And, for once, they made changes that didn’t make things worse. The ‘monkey paw’ be careful what you wish for approach to customer feedback that Gaijin has. I’d been feeling a bit dirty giving them money for stuff after the z-fashy slips they had but I was still playing. When the great review bomb attack didn’t address a lot of the main issues I have with the game, spawn camping and the module grind for example, I decided to call it a day. I still watch videos to see if there’s any improvement, after all I did play nearly every day for six years. But no. And so far, I’m glad I’m out. Anyone want to buy an account with nearly every premium up until they started charging more than $50 for a single plane or tank? No? I’m joking. I’m hanging on to my account just to see is things get better when the game stops expanding in users, and it will happen. Fingers crossed that won’t just make Gaijin try to grift harder before it all goes belly up!
The biggest problem with Tank RB is planes. Its literal sky cancer. Increasing SP by 3x would make the game actually playable but US mains would cry endlessly. The revenge bombing from 12 year olds mad you killed their french clown car doesn't help either.
They should have bigger rewards for shooting down planes, everyone complains about CAS but nobody wants to play AA, and when they play AA it's because of "side armor i like"
Gaijin is never going to do anything because the player base is stupid. Most of them are “addicted” to a video game they hate. The only way they’ll take a hit is if either someone comes along to compete with their product or they themselves give up on WT and I don’t see either of these things happening soon. Nobody plays naval and those that do absolutely hate it. Gaijin has almost all but abandoned it because of the low player count and the fact that players know there are other better alternatives.
And when Gaijin started to implement some improvements the player base immediately gave up on the boycott and not pushed harder while they had the momentum.
Ground battles. once upon a time i used to play a lot that shit with a friend. Often being us 2 alone against complete teams (because latam servers where really bad, we didnt even get the online HQ) yet is outside Black ops 2 the most fun i ever had in CoD
Tanks in war thunder feels like playing rock paper scissors. You're always playing paper. Your armour is made of paper, your shells are made of paper, and everyone else is scissors.
The worst part is that CAS is just annoying. But when im in any plane it is just boring even when i get kills the only fun i had in a plane was with my Pe-8 and a friend carpet bombing the whole map
It also requires players to either be willing to invest in AA vehicles or be willing to use a fighter in a tank match. The game forces you into it even if you don't want anything to do with planes.
And if you commit to the AA grind, and you shoot down like 5 or 6 planes, there's next to no real reward for it. Still towards the bottom of the score board
Unfortunately gaijin doesn't actually have a map development team, instead it is entirely done by 2 guys that don't even talk to eachother and so the maps are designed for looks instead of gameplay as some examples are pradesh or middle east. Not to mention all the maps that are basically nothing but open field or desert.

He whined a lot about how hard it is to work practically alone, some pretty skilled people who worked with Gaijin's CDK offered him help and he shot everyone down. No clue about the other one, WhiteWolf always implied that he was alone.
What's crazy is the amount of effort gaijin puts into accuracy of models, statistics, and ammunition. The game is like an encyclopedia. And encyclopedia that you play. And that's the only good thing I can say about it. Uninstalled a year ago.
I prefer the way ground arcade implemented aircraft CAS Instead of spawn points, the only way you could spawn CAS is by getting kills, 3 kills and you get to spawn in a bomber, 2 and you get to spawn strike aircraft (or the true CAS plane) and with 1 kill you'd get to spawn in a fighter to intercept the other planes Some time before the atomic thunder april fools update (i remember it being part of some major update but i couldnt find anything backing me up but trust me bro) the fighter line was one of the most annoying plane in the arcade gamemode, you can just spawn in it whether theres other enemy fighter to intercept or not, you can just spawn in and absolutely ruin someone using an open top vehicle for a minute and also now you know where everyone is and go to where they least expected, basically ruins the whole CAS thing just as much as RB But sometime after the update, they fix this issue by making it so that you cant spawn a fighter unless theres other enemy fighter to intercept, while also taking away your ability to see where everyone is on the map (basically giving you the RB experience) soo you wont know where everyone is anymore, nerfing the sh!t out of the fighter spawn My point is, gaijin knows how to fix the current situation, they just refused to do so
You know what is crazy to me ? Nobody talks about the fact that a plane and a tank is same research points yet you need 4-5 tanks for ground yet 1 plane is enough for air rb. You can master and unlock a single plane while ground you need to suffer through 4-5 different tanks
thats something i always say (and is one of the main reasons i hate ground and i often play as 1/2 dead leaver) you need a full ass lineup that need to be grinded (most of the time they are useless until halfway/almost spaded) while having less reward (14 kill and 4 captures and win with premium is like 13k RP)

No joke, my life has been better since I quit. I had top tier air and ground in 3 or 4 trees and mid tier in the rest. 2,000+ hours. I quit back in January. Haven't looked back
same, I had enough of the game at the end of 2023 so I one day sat there and just deleted it, my life is still kinda meh but without WT and multiplayer games in general I feel better right now
Actually as a long time player, I find researching tanks easier and faster than air. Simply because you have multiple spawns. In air RB you spawn, fly for 20 minutes to just reach the battlefield. And then you get one shot by someone with an explosive 30mm round from behind, while your pilot goes sleepy time from G overload
depends on how good you are and how good your teammates are ( also luck ) if you kill more than one enemy in air rb then you can easily do the trees. And to me, ground RB is harder.

I stomp matches in air RB with 3-6 kills every game and I'll tell you air RB grind is extremely easy and fast. I can spade top tier jets in few hours. Lower tier jets in

Your manual ATGM control is quite insane! The point I am mostly agreed with is the Grinding part. By default, the research point of Air RB is about 4.5x to the ground RB. For some parts and modification, you will need hours of grind to be even useful, not just enemy's food playing ground tech tree vehicles (like M46 - M48 tanks). Other than that, I kind of see the reason for only 3 simple capture points. The actually strategy evolves around these capture points can be very complex, and sometime quite elegant by different maps. Just like football/soccer, there is only 2 goals, and the field is plain, but the gameplay/strategy around it can be very thrilling. It is the other unbalanced parts and low average player experience that lead to some stale experiences. For the CAS/AIR problem in ground RB, there is something called Arcade battle mode...Ok, Jokes aside. I do agree Gaijin's purposefully doing this: they think Air is the main part of the game, and they want to make sure that AIR could have superiority in the combined RB mode. For one reason, this is for the realistic experience. CAS/Air superiority is never a fair game in real world. The side losing it is probably just going to L. Another point: most player probably start ground mode from AB. Once they get more experienced and move to RB, Gaijing just want to lure them into playing Air part of the game, simply by showing them how effective the CAS element in the combined game mode.
I pretty much finished grinding because i rarely play war thunder now and i honestly find the game a lot more fun because i just play tanks i like every once in a while
In battlefield 5 we had a game mode called “breakthrough” there were multiple sectors and you had 2 bases in each sector. If you capped both bases the sector would move forward with the barrier changing so that you would die if you didn’t move forward. This prevented spawn camping and constant mobility. There was also a limited amount of planes each side could have (around 2) I believe this could make GRB better.
The problem is inherently with the grind. If Gaijin released a new mode, people will ignore the objectives just to rush in fast light tanks to spawncamp the other team.
@@g.williams2047 I see what you mean but the LT issue could be solved by using maps with lots of cover and as tanks will blown up by the game(not the players) this encourages playing the objective. But the grind is already a problem the gaijin shows they don’t care abt. But they also show that they don’t care about adding new games as they’re scared it might split the community. I thought about it and i might want to add someting i call "1 side bombs the other gets to be bombed" cycle If youre losing a match the enemy will get more bomber bec they got the point for it, makes sence if you don't think much about it This means tho if a team already has an advatage it just cycles into unlimitedness Youre team has less players, less anti air, less of youre team being able to go fighter to intercept, not even only that, more dead players means that everyone in youre team needs to be at the frontline else youre gonna lose within seconds, so you just end up in this cycle Less teammates, more enemy bombing, less teammates, more enemy bombing repeat, ...
A thing that I constantly notice in WT tank match when it goes stalemate is the absolute ignorance of the points. For some reason at one point everyone just forgets about their tank’s excellent mobility and the entire purpose of the gamemode, and start endless skirmish. Considering how basically all maps in WT are, people completely forget the opportunities those hills present, aka flanking.
The worst thing its that their bussiness method its working, bc if you think about it, you cant stop playing no matter what, even if you leave, you come back not so long after
i started playing war thunder back in Dec 2022 with the goal of getting the 2S6. 1 year 5 months, decreased desk integrity, the whole 5 stages, burning hate for rocket carriers, rat cars, CAS and revenge bombers. The most I'd ask for in this god forsaken game is to add penalties for spawn camping ;-;
I play with 3.0 France and i wanted to smash my computer when my 2C couldn't even kill an M22 locust in one shot in it's most vulnerable place and instead it killed me in two shots
There shouldn’t be penalties for spawn camping, atleast if you are talking about just getting pushed back to spawn by an entire team compared to someone immediately rushing your spawn at the start of a match (this deserves a punishment). If your team got pushed back though? Too bad, use it as a learning experience
The grind gets even worse if u want to be effective and have a lineup. For arb even if u wanted u cant bring more than 1 plane. Map design also matters a lot, every single map added in the last year or so was complete garbage and broken, all have overpowered spots that break the game flow etc. That is not an issue in arb. Playing ground honestly feels like cbt sometimes

The spawn points for CAS needs to be increased, rewards for killing CAS need to be increased and the rewards for playing SPAA. Also (because I really only play top tier Germany, Sweden, and USA) SPAA missiles need to be buffed or made more responsive even if it’s not “historically accurate” CAS is a problem.
@@gian.4388 All that will do is completely discourage players from even taking SPAA in the first place. There isn't always a plane or a heli up, but when there is, you're glad someone spawned SPAA.
I'm British AA, what are missiles? We don't get funny things like starstreak till 10.3. It can be really annoying to kill 4 enemy planes and still be lower on the board compared to someone with 1 assist. Would be interesting to get more rewards if you manage to take out the plane that still has their ordinance
I used to play War Thunder and World of Tanks. Once WoT became unplayable I started War Thunder, then it declined and right before the review bombing I deleted my account. Best decisions I've ever done. I was up to 6.0 in tanks, but it wasn't worth the grind at that point. Heck, It started to get insane at 4.0.

7200 hours from the beta of the game. unistall after the apex predator update and switched to DCS/Steel beast/arma/ghpc wich are way more better military game
some good points, some bad. planes are op, yes heavy tanks and spg's are useless? no (skill issue) different variation of game modes? it was tried in the world war mode, dont know what happened to it honestly but it was mid the biggest issue i have with the game is the increadably inconsistant damage, sometimes you will pen and do nothing, other times you will nuke the entire crew

The worst part about capture points(imo) is that there is usually no cover going to and on the point. It’s *FAR* more beneficial to just sit outside of the objective and farm kills rather than actually capturing it
Soon as tanks were introduced to war thunder, I left. I miss war thunder where it was just about planes and f86 and mig 15 was the top tier. No missiles nonsense
I love GRB. Im a hybrid German/Russia main. In real life planes and helis are the best way to take out tank. There are two things I'd to change, that's spawn point cost for airplanes which needs to increase and then the ability to spawn out of the map and drive in if enough enemies are detected near the spawn. But if you're getting spawn camped you will lose either way, and many times it's free kills. Ill wait until the spawn is covered with enemies and spawn in a premium like the tam 2ip or 2s38 and just farm them till i die.
One use for planes and at a late stage? Nah, is a game about cobined arms. No volumetric? Nah. With no volumetric impossible shots are gona be created. Is gona break armor. +heat and apds are good shels. If you dont like it, it will not get better,stop grumbling,just make harde to spawn on planes,no time cap.
To claim that the game is gonna die bc they only have 3 modes in ground is wild, especially since the playerbase has doubled since i started in like 2020. Also every tank type is usually fine you just have to play them differently. I grinded pretty much all of america using the doom turtles and have like a 3.0 KD with them, despite them being the slowest vehicle in the game.

When it comes to the grind, Gaijin wants it to be ridiculously grindy, therefore to get anywhere in a tech tree in any reasonable amount of time you have to purchase a vehicle.
It's annoying how if u die in a tank without doing anything In a game, you get rewarded by being able to spawn in a plane or heli and get multiple kills like nothing. When I play ground RB I die to planes or helis 80% of the time, it's hard to even notice I'm in a tank game mode when I look up and see everyone flying around
I enjoy French tanks so much more than soviets The lack of filler also helps alot, and I'm just reaching tier 3 with soviets while France tier 4 is in reach
I think ground forces could use procedurally generated maps. It's impossible for new players to compete against veterans who have memorized every nook and cranny of the same maps they've been playing for years. They know every optimal angle and can hide their bush-covered tanks very effectively against some poor guy who just unlocked his KV-1. If the maps had elements of randomness to them, or are completely random, then there will be more tactical variety and general mechanical skill will be emphasized over encyclopedic knowledge in terms of performing well. My opinion comes from having played a couple of strategy games that have procedually generated map options. Having random battlefields each time and having to adapt to them really shakes up how you play, especially against human opponents.
I want to offer a slightly different perspective and pose some arguments, I am of the opinion that war thunder is a game with amazing potential which is being squandered by gaijin. However some criticism in this video is a little over the top. 0:00 - Gaijin is slowly removing any way to get any kind of premium currency or gaijin coins without paying, fully agreed and it fucking sucks. 1:48 - Having this tank, paper, scissors triangle type of balance only works if you have classes with very small deviations among each class. With war thunder having so many different vehicles in each class which can vary amongst each other a lot it kind of merges into a circle balance where almost every unique vehicle has it's place. 2:10 - When I play Ground RB I mostly play
I feel with the stock missile thing to be not as bad as stock shell. I'd argue at 11.0+ where it matters more, they do give you kind of workable missiles stock. But you can always farm the ai for xp as well. Under 11.0, you can always full send head ons if you don't have the performance. You don't see many all aspects here either and the ones you do see are easy to decoy if shot frontal aspect. Imo the bigger issue here is 9.0-10.3 where you can see decent rear aspect missiles go against planes with no flares
I do not entirely agree on your 2:36 point. It would be a good argument not to spawn a specific vehicle if this game had an unlimited amount of respawns for any of the vehicles player has (or at least if your spawns were limited by a team tickets, like in the Battlefield games). Otherwise let's say you take a fast tank into the uptier and lose it. Then by your advice next course of action would be just to leave the battle entirely. Without changes to how the spawn system works many players are gonna be frustrated by the balance issues nevertheless, because they are forced at one point or another to either leave the battle or suffer against unfair opponents.
@@MikaeIla I can see how you interpreted it that way but that's not entirely what I meant. When starting a battle most people start off with the vehicle they feel most comfortable in with that specific map, that's their best vehicle for the occasion. This way when you die early in your best vehicle you'll be facing up against more of the enemies best vehicles until they can be picked off and the enemy will be forced to spawn their weaker vehicles. The penalty for dying early is being at a disadvantage for at least part of the remainder of the battle. That doesn't mean you should immediately leave, it just means you have to use your next best vehicle. If you survive for longer your reward is having a "better" tank then the enemies. In the end technically you would probably perform best by having a lineup, spawning the best vehicle for the map and then leaving the match. So if you want to maximized your K/D that would be the way to play. For actually grinding, spawning another vehicle and continuing with the battle is more effective because activity is more important than a K/D. There's definitely problems with saying "just spawn x tank in x up/downtier. Some lineups don't have any reliable light tanks like 5.0-7.0 Germany where you only have armor reliant tanks. some have no heavies like Sweden, Israel and France kinda. It's just a rule of thumb I use to try to make the grind slightly more reliable and enjoyable.
I've been following all the hype about War Thunder since 2018, but I've never played it. As an armor enthusiast and avid fan of military history, I tend to be a bit of a purist when it comes to historical accuracy portrayed in games, movies, series, etc, due that reason I have been very hesitant to try this game for the first time in all these years, contrasting so many suggestions from friends with the well-known problems of the game which the community reports and Gaijin ignores on a daily basis every time I get the urge to install and play it. Videos like yours just confirm to me that I made a good decision in choosing to stay away from all that mess. thank you, you really deserve more views!
I remember playing war thunder before update 1.37. It was a great game in 2013. I remember unlocking multiple vehicles per level up. Things seem to have gotten a lot worse in the 10 years that i have not played
The push for realism maximum and ONLY having symmetrical gamemodes are warthunders biggest issue Realism is why aircraft are so dominant in ground rb, because realistic a bomber should be slaughtering tanks
GRBs biggest issue is CAS, solution: higher sp cost for planes with ground strike capabilities (bombs, rockets, AP belts etc.) and make the planes spawn from the runway (maybe exept bombers). also ground only mode would be also highly apprecieted. boycot vol2 when?
the D point was a dynamic objective, yet the game mode where it was available has been removed, I don't clearly remember the reason but it had been backed by player stupidity or something similar back then
Dude, Gaijin used to add other objectives to their maps before. I remember the AI swarms on Carpathians, or the landing ships on Jungle spawning AI convoys. Hell, I miss the Team Death Match event they ran like 8 years ago, where they gave you infinite respawns and your only objective was "reach 100 kills" with your team!
But I think the best place to take notes about balance is Titanfall, where youd think that spawning in a massive 24 tonne metal behemoth would be extremely broken, but actually when you implement a count down that everyone gets to call one in it actually becomes pretty fun. Obviously this system couldn’t be implemented but it goes to show that a form of balance can be achieved.
4:21 the whole point of "Combined battles" in warthunder or "Ground RB" is to be semi realistic. Moving points does not make sense as thats not how it works. If you're at war and your objective is to capture an airport.. Would you expect said airport to magically move every few minutes?

The only reason that Gaijin succeded is because they don't have competition in tank "realistic" games. They put out enlisted with the same greedyness and they failed massively, because there were better WW2 shooters to play. If someone made a better alternative, everybody would have abandoned War Thunder. There is just one problem: no one wants to do it. Why: they are scared of failure because they see war thunder and think that Gaijins monopoly is to powerful.
World of Tanks is the only other alternative i can think of that’s even close to War Thunder. And even then it’s far from realistic. You can just shoot at the engine enough times and eventually the whole tank will go boom. Realistically shooting at the engine or even the radiator or transmission will immediately immobilize the tank. And if we were being ultra realistic the engine and all other components would wear down over time and eventually you may have to J out.
Wot is much much bigger. Casual players who wants to play tanks play wot. WT is for more into players

Grinding here is much more painful than ground, I do like how the AA is an absolute menace to CAS, making CAS as not as a problem as in tank does, it does however, suffer badly from balancing, if heavy units are almost useless in GRB, in Naval RB, the bigger guns you have and the bigger you are, the more likely you win. where other lighter stuff needs to aim at specific parts, battleship can just sneeze on them and make them lose 50% of their crew, don't even try to be daredevil destroyers like in WoWS, DD here move very slowly, and the closer you get, the easier for the big ship to hit you, as secondaries can be controlled manually

Biggest whales for Gaijin is those who watch Top Gun and download the game, realize it's gonna take forever to grind your way to F-14 and just pay 60$ to get the top tier jet, if he stays and pays more, even better for Gaijin. If he leaves then they already got their money. They asked Steam to remove the negative reviews because it pushing off a lot of new players.

It does. But I’ve been playing for 6 years, and stopped last December. The game is just getting worse. Gaijin is getting greedier. Yes, we made our displeasure known last year (or was it the year before?) and you could almost smell the sweat as Gaijin had a panic attack about their gravy train going off the rails. And, for once, they made changes that didn’t make things worse. The ‘monkey paw’ be careful what you wish for approach to customer feedback that Gaijin has. I’d been feeling a bit dirty giving them money for stuff after the z-fashy slips they had but I was still playing. When the great review bomb attack didn’t address a lot of the main issues I have with the game, spawn camping and the module grind for example, I decided to call it a day. I still watch videos to see if there’s any improvement, after all I did play nearly every day for six years. But no. And so far, I’m glad I’m out. Anyone want to buy an account with nearly every premium up until they started charging more than $50 for a single plane or tank? No? I’m joking. I’m hanging on to my account just to see is things get better when the game stops expanding in users, and it will happen. Fingers crossed that won’t just make Gaijin try to grift harder before it all goes belly up!
The biggest problem with Tank RB is planes. Its literal sky cancer. Increasing SP by 3x would make the game actually playable but US mains would cry endlessly. The revenge bombing from 12 year olds mad you killed their french clown car doesn't help either.

Gaijin is never going to do anything because the player base is stupid. Most of them are “addicted” to a video game they hate. The only way they’ll take a hit is if either someone comes along to compete with their product or they themselves give up on WT and I don’t see either of these things happening soon.
Nobody plays naval and those that do absolutely hate it. Gaijin has almost all but abandoned it because of the low player count and the fact that players know there are other better alternatives.
And when Gaijin started to implement some improvements the player base immediately gave up on the boycott and not pushed harder while they had the momentum.
The game mode COD WW2 had where one team attacks and the other defends and the offense moves up as you succeed is a need

The worst part is that CAS is just annoying. But when im in any plane it is just boring even when i get kills the only fun i had in a plane was with my Pe-8 and a friend carpet bombing the whole map
It also requires players to either be willing to invest in AA vehicles or be willing to use a fighter in a tank match. The game forces you into it even if you don't want anything to do with planes.
And if you commit to the AA grind, and you shoot down like 5 or 6 planes, there's next to no real reward for it. Still towards the bottom of the score board

I can imagine War Thunder gamemode to be similar to Operations in BF1. You have few zones, one side defends, other tries to attack.
Unfortunately gaijin doesn't actually have a map development team, instead it is entirely done by 2 guys that don't even talk to eachother and so the maps are designed for looks instead of gameplay as some examples are pradesh or middle east. Not to mention all the maps that are basically nothing but open field or desert.

What's crazy is the amount of effort gaijin puts into accuracy of models, statistics, and ammunition. The game is like an encyclopedia. And encyclopedia that you play. And that's the only good thing I can say about it. Uninstalled a year ago.
I prefer the way ground arcade implemented aircraft CAS
Instead of spawn points, the only way you could spawn CAS is by getting kills, 3 kills and you get to spawn in a bomber, 2 and you get to spawn strike aircraft (or the true CAS plane) and with 1 kill you'd get to spawn in a fighter to intercept the other planes
Some time before the atomic thunder april fools update (i remember it being part of some major update but i couldnt find anything backing me up but trust me bro) the fighter line was one of the most annoying plane in the arcade gamemode, you can just spawn in it whether theres other enemy fighter to intercept or not, you can just spawn in and absolutely ruin someone using an open top vehicle for a minute and also now you know where everyone is and go to where they least expected, basically ruins the whole CAS thing just as much as RB
But sometime after the update, they fix this issue by making it so that you cant spawn a fighter unless theres other enemy fighter to intercept, while also taking away your ability to see where everyone is on the map (basically giving you the RB experience) soo you wont know where everyone is anymore, nerfing the sh!t out of the fighter spawn
My point is, gaijin knows how to fix the current situation, they just refused to do so
You know what is crazy to me ? Nobody talks about the fact that a plane and a tank is same research points yet you need 4-5 tanks for ground yet 1 plane is enough for air rb. You can master and unlock a single plane while ground you need to suffer through 4-5 different tanks
thats something i always say (and is one of the main reasons i hate ground and i often play as 1/2 dead leaver) you need a full ass lineup that need to be grinded (most of the time they are useless until halfway/almost spaded) while having less reward (14 kill and 4 captures and win with premium is like 13k RP)

Actually as a long time player, I find researching tanks easier and faster than air. Simply because you have multiple spawns. In air RB you spawn, fly for 20 minutes to just reach the battlefield. And then you get one shot by someone with an explosive 30mm round from behind, while your pilot goes sleepy time from G overload
depends on how good you are and how good your teammates are ( also luck ) if you kill more than one enemy in air rb then you can easily do the trees. And to me, ground RB is harder.

Your manual ATGM control is quite insane! The point I am mostly agreed with is the Grinding part. By default, the research point of Air RB is about 4.5x to the ground RB. For some parts and modification, you will need hours of grind to be even useful, not just enemy's food playing ground tech tree vehicles (like M46 - M48 tanks). Other than that, I kind of see the reason for only 3 simple capture points. The actually strategy evolves around these capture points can be very complex, and sometime quite elegant by different maps. Just like football/soccer, there is only 2 goals, and the field is plain, but the gameplay/strategy around it can be very thrilling. It is the other unbalanced parts and low average player experience that lead to some stale experiences. For the CAS/AIR problem in ground RB, there is something called Arcade battle mode...Ok, Jokes aside. I do agree Gaijin's purposefully doing this: they think Air is the main part of the game, and they want to make sure that AIR could have superiority in the combined RB mode. For one reason, this is for the realistic experience. CAS/Air superiority is never a fair game in real world. The side losing it is probably just going to L. Another point: most player probably start ground mode from AB. Once they get more experienced and move to RB, Gaijing just want to lure them into playing Air part of the game, simply by showing them how effective the CAS element in the combined game mode.
I pretty much finished grinding because i rarely play war thunder now and i honestly find the game a lot more fun because i just play tanks i like every once in a while
In battlefield 5 we had a game mode called “breakthrough” there were multiple sectors and you had 2 bases in each sector. If you capped both bases the sector would move forward with the barrier changing so that you would die if you didn’t move forward. This prevented spawn camping and constant mobility. There was also a limited amount of planes each side could have (around 2) I believe this could make GRB better.
The problem is inherently with the grind. If Gaijin released a new mode, people will ignore the objectives just to rush in fast light tanks to spawncamp the other team.
@@g.williams2047 I see what you mean but the LT issue could be solved by using maps with lots of cover and as tanks will blown up by the game(not the players) this encourages playing the objective. But the grind is already a problem the gaijin shows they don’t care abt. But they also show that they don’t care about adding new games as they’re scared it might split the community. I fr can’t wait for a new game to come out cause as soon as that happens I’m leaving warthunder unless changes are made

yeah ground RB is a snowball. the first 2 or 3 minutes decide the entire game most of the time
A thing that I constantly notice in WT tank match when it goes stalemate is the absolute ignorance of the points. For some reason at one point everyone just forgets about their tank’s excellent mobility and the entire purpose of the gamemode, and start endless skirmish. Considering how basically all maps in WT are, people completely forget the opportunities those hills present, aka flanking.

There shouldn’t be penalties for spawn camping, atleast if you are talking about just getting pushed back to spawn by an entire team compared to someone immediately rushing your spawn at the start of a match (this deserves a punishment). If your team got pushed back though? Too bad, use it as a learning experience

The grind gets even worse if u want to be effective and have a lineup. For arb even if u wanted u cant bring more than 1 plane. Map design also matters a lot, every single map added in the last year or so was complete garbage and broken, all have overpowered spots that break the game flow etc. That is not an issue in arb. Playing ground honestly feels like cbt sometimes

I like war thunder and I enjoy playing it, but it’s annoying to grind for the next vehicles.
The spawn points for CAS needs to be increased, rewards for killing CAS need to be increased and the rewards for playing SPAA. Also (because I really only play top tier Germany, Sweden, and USA) SPAA missiles need to be buffed or made more responsive even if it’s not “historically accurate” CAS is a problem.
Gaijin will never buff SPAA as then idiots won't drop $70 on a new CAS premium.
And killing tanks with SPAA should also be discouraged by giving considerably lower rewards for them imo

I used to play War Thunder and World of Tanks. Once WoT became unplayable I started War Thunder, then it declined and right before the review bombing I deleted my account. Best decisions I've ever done. I was up to 6.0 in tanks, but it wasn't worth the grind at that point. Heck, It started to get insane at 4.0.

im playing planes but once get bored and grind to Pershing, then all 6.7 line so now I'm just sitting on 6.7 and farm sl for planes

Ground is so bad I can’t even force myself anymore, getting top tier grinding all the way is literally not fun and it won’t be the way it is now

the biggest issue i have with the game is the increadably inconsistant damage, sometimes you will pen and do nothing, other times you will nuke the entire crew
Yeah I'm a noob at tanks, my opinion could very well be wrong. But I didn't say that heavies and SPGs are bad - I said that tanks that are specifically SLOW are bad, as they are so vulnerable to getting bombed and caught out of position

The worst part about capture points(imo) is that there is usually no cover going to and on the point. It’s *FAR* more beneficial to just sit outside of the objective and farm kills rather than actually capturing it

Soon as tanks were introduced to war thunder, I left. I miss war thunder where it was just about planes and f86 and mig 15 was the top tier. No missiles nonsense
I love GRB. Im a hybrid German/Russia main. In real life planes and helis are the best way to take out tank. There are two things I'd to change, that's spawn point cost for airplanes which needs to increase and then the ability to spawn out of the map and drive in if enough enemies are detected near the spawn. But if you're getting spawn camped you will lose either way, and many times it's free kills. Ill wait until the spawn is covered with enemies and spawn in a premium like the tam 2ip or 2s38 and just farm them till i die.
One use for planes and at a late stage? Nah, is a game about cobined arms.
No volumetric? Nah.
With no volumetric impossible shots are gona be created. Is gona break armor.
+heat and apds are good shels.

To claim that the game is gonna die bc they only have 3 modes in ground is wild, especially since the playerbase has doubled since i started in like 2020. Also every tank type is usually fine you just have to play them differently. I grinded pretty much all of america using the doom turtles and have like a 3.0 KD with them, despite them being the slowest vehicle in the game.
You are aware that was around Covid right? Where every digital boomed since everyone was at home? Not to mention how terribly they are off now since they just wanna see profits that are literally unreachable rise.

When it comes to the grind, Gaijin wants it to be ridiculously grindy, therefore to get anywhere in a tech tree in any reasonable amount of time you have to purchase a vehicle.
It's annoying how if u die in a tank without doing anything In a game, you get rewarded by being able to spawn in a plane or heli and get multiple kills like nothing. When I play ground RB I die to planes or helis 80% of the time, it's hard to even notice I'm in a tank game mode when I look up and see everyone flying around

The lack of filler also helps alot, and I'm just reaching tier 3 with soviets while France tier 4 is in reach
I think ground forces could use procedurally generated maps. It's impossible for new players to compete against veterans who have memorized every nook and cranny of the same maps they've been playing for years. They know every optimal angle and can hide their bush-covered tanks very effectively against some poor guy who just unlocked his KV-1. If the maps had elements of randomness to them, or are completely random, then there will be more tactical variety and general mechanical skill will be emphasized over encyclopedic knowledge in terms of performing well.
My opinion comes from having played a couple of strategy games that have procedually generated map options. Having random battlefields each time and having to adapt to them really shakes up how you play, especially against human opponents.

I want to offer a slightly different perspective and pose some arguments, I am of the opinion that war thunder is a game with amazing potential which is being squandered by gaijin. However some criticism in this video is a little over the top.
0:00 - Gaijin is slowly removing any way to get any kind of premium currency or gaijin coins without paying, fully agreed and it fucking sucks.
1:48 - Having this tank, paper, scissors triangle type of balance only works if you have classes with very small deviations among each class. With war thunder having so many different vehicles in each class which can vary amongst each other a lot it kind of merges into a circle balance where almost every unique vehicle has it's place.
2:10 - When I play Ground RB I mostly play
You're probably right about balancing classes, I'm a tank noob after all. But it seems we both want the same things from Gaijin
I feel with the stock missile thing to be not as bad as stock shell. I'd argue at 11.0+ where it matters more, they do give you kind of workable missiles stock. But you can always farm the ai for xp as well.
Under 11.0, you can always full send head ons if you don't have the performance. You don't see many all aspects here either and the ones you do see are easy to decoy if shot frontal aspect.
Imo the bigger issue here is 9.0-10.3 where you can see decent rear aspect missiles go against planes with no flares
I do not entirely agree on your 2:36 point. It would be a good argument not to spawn a specific vehicle if this game had an unlimited amount of respawns for any of the vehicles player has (or at least if your spawns were limited by a team tickets, like in the Battlefield games). Otherwise let's say you take a fast tank into the uptier and lose it. Then by your advice next course of action would be just to leave the battle entirely.
Without changes to how the spawn system works many players are gonna be frustrated by the balance issues nevertheless, because they are forced at one point or another to either leave the battle or suffer against unfair opponents.

I can see how you interpreted it that way but that's not entirely what I meant.
When starting a battle most people start off with the vehicle they feel most comfortable in with that specific map, that's their best vehicle for the occasion. This way when you die early in your best vehicle you'll be facing up against more of the enemies best vehicles until they can be picked off and the enemy will be forced to spawn their weaker vehicles. The penalty for dying early is being at a disadvantage for at least part of the remainder of the battle. That doesn't mean you should immediately leave, it just means you have to use your next best vehicle. If you survive for longer your reward is having a "better" tank then the enemies.
In the end technically you would probably perform best by having a lineup, spawning the best vehicle for the map and then leaving the match. So if you want to maximized your K/D that would be the way to play. For actually grinding, spawning another vehicle and continuing with the battle is more effective because activity is more important than a K/D.
There's definitely problems with saying "just spawn x tank in x up/downtier. Some lineups don't have any reliable light tanks like 5.0-7.0 Germany where you only have armor reliant tanks. some have no heavies like Sweden, Israel and France kinda. It's just a rule of thumb I use to try to make the grind slightly more reliable and enjoyable.

I've been following all the hype about War Thunder since 2018, but I've never played it. As an armor enthusiast and avid fan of military history, I tend to be a bit of a purist when it comes to historical accuracy portrayed in games, movies, series, etc, due that reason I have been very hesitant to try this game for the first time in all these years, contrasting so many suggestions from friends with the well-known problems of the game which the community reports and Gaijin ignores on a daily basis every time I get the urge to install and play it. Videos like yours just confirm to me that I made a good decision in choosing to stay away from all that mess. thank you, you really deserve more views!

I remember playing war thunder before update 1.37. It was a great game in 2013. I remember unlocking multiple vehicles per level up.
Things seem to have gotten a lot worse in the 10 years that i have not played

Dynamic points would be awesome! Even if they were fixed locations as long as they are somewhat random it would still be a great addition.
GRBs biggest issue is CAS, solution: higher sp cost for planes with ground strike capabilities (bombs, rockets, AP belts etc.) and make the planes spawn from the runway (maybe exept bombers). also ground only mode would be also highly apprecieted. boycot vol2 when?
the D point was a dynamic objective, yet the game mode where it was available has been removed, I don't clearly remember the reason but it had been backed by player stupidity or something similar back then

I remember the AI swarms on Carpathians, or the landing ships on Jungle spawning AI convoys.
Hell, I miss the Team Death Match event they ran like 8 years ago, where they gave you infinite respawns and your only objective was "reach 100 kills" with your team!

But I think the best place to take notes about balance is Titanfall, where youd think that spawning in a massive 24 tonne metal behemoth would be extremely broken, but actually when you implement a count down that everyone gets to call one in it actually becomes pretty fun. Obviously this system couldn’t be implemented but it goes to show that a form of balance can be achieved.
4:21 the whole point of "Combined battles" in warthunder or "Ground RB" is to be semi realistic. Moving points does not make sense as thats not how it works. If you're at war and your objective is to capture an airport.. Would you expect said airport to magically move every few minutes?
At some point you have to discard some realism for the sake of making a game actually enjoyable.
I play ground RB for the sole reason to play the CAS role
And that says a lot about the game mode
