GREAT advice, Clarence! The first credit I ever had was my 1978 Corvette back in 1994. I had to finance all $6500 of it at my personal bank and I paid it off in a year, but that helped me establish credit. I then got a credit card and always paid off the balance every month. If it wasn't for those two things, I could never have been able to get my 1997 Corvette in 2000. I'm glad to see you sharing your advice and hope others follow it because IT WORKS! I didn't know your C7 was that affordable, to be honest. I need to bite the bullet and just accept that I may need to get pay a payment if I want to get another car (C8 maybe). After getting rid of my c5 and waiting 10 years and driving cars I didn't like just so I could afford a new C7 (even though I ended up buying the i8), was a mistake. That's a lot of time I wasted that I could have been enjoying a nice car. I won't make that mistake again. As you said, we only have one life, and we only go around the sun so many times.

AWESOME TIPS! THANKS! Now let me give YOU an important tip; Before you do mods on an awesome car like that Corvette, find out if the tires that came with that car are Runflat Tires. If they are, replace them with non-run-flat tires. WHY? Non-Runflat tires are quieter, you'll have a smoother ride, they're lighter in weight, and they will cost you fewer trips to the gas pump. On top of all that, they are not as expensive as Runflat Tires of the same brand. Keep in mind that your tires are the most important part of your car because they are the only part that touches the ground. You'll do yourself a ton of justice by investing in a good set of tires.

Making mid cycle payments can help with credit as well. If you can pay off the card in full every month, but want to build up credit, making 2 50% payments can be in your favor. This keeps your Credit limit usage lower, which is one of the factors for credit scores. Keeping it under 30% is considered ideal for credit building, but newer calculations seem to favor 7%.

IMO, if you have to make payments on a $70k car and up, you probably shouldn’t be buying it. You are throwing away huge amounts of money on interest and depreciation. If you have to make payments, then most likely you haven’t earned enough money to not care about throwing it away for pure pleasure. It’s a free country of course, do what you like, you only live once...but advice from just one old guy like me is to save your expensive toys for a little later, after you’ve busted your butt, invested wisely, taken could care of your family and off-spring, made your first couple mil and are completely out of debt - and only then start throwing away your money on fun stuff you don’t really need. It doesn’t take that long if you work a couple jobs, start a few businesses, and study the myriad of good investments that can be made. A car isn’t an investment. It will almost always lose money... but maybe you make good money on it as a business investment for your TH-cam channel business, and

I can tell you from my own experience that saving all that money to enjoy expensive cars when you’re old, does not come close to the pleasure I enjoyed when I was young and made the not financially sound step to buy cars people told me I shouldn’t (“it depreciates”). You can do these things from time to time and still build a substantial retirement fund. I didn’t do this with every I car purchased once I married and we had a child, but I did do it a number of times when I saw a car “I just had to have”. I also bought cars that held their value better than most. The three Porsches I had did very well on resale. The other factor that resonates with me are my friends with significant financial assets who either never made it to old age or died just before/after retirement. This doesn’t mean you can or should spend crazily your whole life, but if all you are gathering is money and not experiences, that’s a pretty sad thing. Also, it depends on just how hard you work and the money you make. Clarence, for example admits he doesn’t have what people call a prestige job, but he works very hard and has multiple sources of income (and TH-cam isn’t one of them-yet 🙂).

Ford did on a 2020 F-150.. last November and I got a credit card..but my interest rate on the truck is ...are you sitting down.... lol 28.5%.. You read it right... 878 a month payment on a 30k truck.. I figured I'm buying my credit score be a year in November... credit has gone up 349 points in last 9 months.. hoping too be able to trade in and get a c8 vette soon..

Holy mother of god… I would be getting rid of that like, yesterday. No vehicle is worth paying almost 30% in interest on. I’d be absolutely livid with the f@ck that took you for a sucker. My guy. Get a 10k beater and another Credit Card to build your credit. Also, go find someone to make you an authorized user on their CC to bump your score.
