Always like your videos when you're trying different things out as it helps me learn too. Am going to be getting myself a Polish lavvu this year so having watched this video I may end up ordering two sets in order to play around with the combos. Wishing you a blessed year ahead too Mike and really hoping your work situation sorts itself out, and we must meet up for a brew at some point ~Peace~
Zed Outdoors Cheers Zed, I like playing around with gear to get it right for me, still not 100% with the lavvu yet, and I'm sure there will be a few more vids on it yet. Yes we must have that brew soon mate, Atb Mike.
Hi Mike, I am with you on the VR/SV front. As for the laavu the porch idea looks like it will work but is bulky and I know it would entail a lot of hard work but by adding another 10 inches or so of canvas around the base of the laavu would transfor it. All the best for 2015 and I hope you are able to earn some bread. Work is always a worry in this day and age. Sandy
Interesting idea, Mike. It is a compromise bit of kit as it just about works as a poncho and just about as a tent. I still love it. Wow Sly is 6'4" and has slept in his on a low army camp bed. I'm 6'2" and ground sleep in mine ok. I have heard people say there are two sizes. Did you notice any difference between yours and Mack's sections? It is nice to show support for other channels, but, like you say it would be better for the prizes to go to new people who don't have the gear. Nice looking BP. All the best for the new year, keep on keeping on.
Great vid , was wondering about the extra piece.. I did manage to fit a bed in my two section, so I'll maybe get one purchased, do you think a third piece will fit over the top of the pole as the others do?
Just a suggestion, instead of putting a hole through the top to attach the top to a ridge line you might look into PackTach. It's a hard plastic and carabiner looping system for backpacks that allow you to create attachment points without damaging your material.
great stuff mike. Been subbed to the clam for a while now will check out welsh preppers channel. I agree with you on resolutions they always get broken lol. Atb in 2015 Steve.
Good new year to you to Know what you mean about work at the moment Nice mid to the lavuu when you pull the half tight will you need to drop the poles to create good rain run off ? As you say all the mods just keep adding to the weight but a good idea Happy trails
Northwest Bushcrafter Cheers Drew, I keep trying with the Lavvu, but I don't think I'm there yet, Yeah, I had a touch with wining that comp with Field & Trek, the Karrimor Predator 30, makes a great day bag. Atb Mike.
Nice bread pud mike my wife also from Yorkshire and does not know how to make it and also does not like it. It must be an Essex thing us guys and our bread pudding 😊😊 Have a safe one mate. Atb Ray
Yep that's different, maybe a skirt around the bottom of say a foot or so, might be better option Mike, a small Belltent lookalike style, you'll gain the extra length your after I reckon bud, good luck, atb, Paul.
Neanderthal 62 I think you are right, I keep on trying different things with it but I think deep down the skit is definitely the way to go. Thanks for watching, and your comments, Atb Mike.
Outlander Bushcraft Hi Martin, hope you are keeping well mate. I think you are right, you would still have to put your legs out of the porch to fit in, Atb Mike.
seen both vids, all nice mods mike, but to be honest, if you have to make that many mods to anything, to make it usable and it still only just there, then it aint much good, i know people love em, and fair play to em, but ive never been a fan of the laavu i wouldnt have one as a gift, much respect to you for sticking with it mate, cheers, dave
Colonelchimp, Bushcraft, Survival and Prepping Cheers Dave, I hear what you are saying and I must admit, I have to agree with you in part. If I only had the Lavvu as it came, I probably would have moved it on long ago, but part of the fun for me is trying to mod something so that it suits me. By removing the centre pole made a great difference and it did become usable, but you know how it is, you think sometimes by trying something else it may make it even better. Don't tell anybody, but I still prefer my hammock any day. Atb Mike.
dome tents are better. smaller to carry, most of all has a bottom sealed to the environment. 3 collapsing think poles, a few optional cords or plastic stakes and your home, water and wind proof and YOUR NOT SLEEPING ON THE DAMM DIRT.
great idea - now you got a 6 kg 1 man tent ^^

Thanks Darren, yes I reckon that it will fit over the centre pole. What type of bed do you use? If I may ask. Atb mate, Mike.

As you say all the mods just keep adding to the weight but a good idea
Happy trails
paul sheppard Cheers Paul, yes the poles would have to be dropped slightly, as it was a bit flat, but still an evolving project. Atb Mike.
crackin video mike like the mods on the lavvu and that BP looked very nice.atb drew

I think 4 poncho's would work, but there is a weight issue, ok if there is a couple of you to share the load.
This is a great set up mate I’ve used this myself before I started my channel up but think I will do a video how I went about it my self
