In defense of Misty's magic. The show never stated that you needed a cutie mark to have magic. Sweetie Belle learns magic before having her cutie mark, and its so instinctual that even a baby can do it. The only thing a unicorn needs to do instinctual magic is having a strong desire to do something. Like Pumpkin Cake just wishing to be out of a cage or fly. With the help of a cutie mark controlling magic becomes easier.
Yeah but I think the show was trying to say that Misty couldn’t do magic without her cutie mark right? Like she says smth about not being able to do magic without a cutie mark, right before doing magic without a cutie mark lol. It’s just weird that they had that bit of dialogue in there at all. Like why mention that magic can’t be done without a cutie mark and then proceed to do it? You might as well just toss the line, it changes nothing other than making the writers look like they rlly don’t know gen 4 lore lol
@@athena-moena5507 well, we do see that Misty does have magic during "Sunny Side-up". But it activated when she was trying to free herself and thinking about her friends. She likely never knew she had magic because Opaline didn't allow it. Plus magic only recently came back so Misty probably never tried to use magic. And when she got her Cutie Mark, she knew she could use her magic.
@@athena-moena5507 Misty also said Opaline taught her Earth ponies had laser eyes. But seriously, why couldn't she call out that Opaline *LIED* to her?
the only thing I could think is that the factory had always been owned by the city and Phyllis just had some sort of lease, the issue with this would be that she still owns it until the lease is up or she refuses to pay for things like ground rent. just a theory
Here is something literally NOPONY noticed: Misty's cutie mark is a butterfly and butterflies are caterpillars that break out of their cocoon. Misty got it when she joined the mane 5, breaking out of her cocoon(Opaline).
I found Misty so realistic. She is an example of what happens when someone is raised by a narcissist. She realizes that Opaline is no good and that she deserves better, but she still deep down hopes and strives for Opaline's acceptance. I actually cared about Misty in this chapter, I actually wanted her to be happy. So, yeah, good chapter (at least in comparison to the rest). I did like Opaline's brutality I the last episode tho. THAT is the villain I have been waiting for! But indeed, why just leave her there? WHY?
Realistically, leaving Opaline alone was the *WORST* tactical move ever! But storywise, we still need her around for the next chapter. And who knows, she might actually rise to the challenge of being a decent MLP villain.
Honestly yeah, Misty genuinely gained a lot of my favor and respect in this episode, and SO DID OPALINE- like she actually kinda reminds me of Chrysalis in a way, but at the same time she’s completely different and new… I love Villains and somehow MLP tends to get the villains right more then the protagonists/heroes
The movie was great, but the show has been a massive disappointment. Sunny is now the least developed character. They turned Izzy into a Pinkie Pie clone even though there were clear differences between them in the movie. The baby dragon is annoying. The world building is terrible. How does the entire pony race only live in 3 areas? A small town, a forest, and a single city? Equestria was a massive country with many cities and towns, so this development just doesn't make any sense. Do the characters have any idea what's beyond their borders? If technology is advanced now, you would think they would explore a little lol. The only reason I'm still watching is because they finally put Sprout In. He's honestly my fav character!
Honestly i'm surprised how little people have questioned the fact that if Opaline knew Celestia and Luna since they were fillies (and was presumably around the same age) then how come she is still alive but they are dead. Unless they were killed (which i doubt the series will ever confirm) or there's gonna be some massive twist near the end of MYM that reveals all the Alicorns from FIM are still alive somewhere, it just continues to make the way G4 and G5 are connected confusing.
> *how come she is still alive but they are dead.* That would assume they are dead - which we honestly don't know. Opaline's being their age does confirm one thing though - that if any of the G4 alicorns did die, NONE of them would have died of old age.
Spoilers for the g4 final season: Luna and Celestia retire and give twilight some of their magic to be able to control the sun and moon using an artifact or something I believe. But either way, my theory is that they went with the hippogriffs because they said they were retiring on a beach I believe. @@ichangednametoamorecringyo1489
1:06 - 1:15 That clearly-stoned-out-of-his-mind pony followed by that clip of AJ asking "what kind of fertilizer have you had your nose in?" made me spit my coffee all over my screen. 😂
I so badly want to know this pony's name, he's already my favorite background pony, my love for him compares to my love for Derpy, I just want his name, nothing more
Misty suddenly being able to use magic reminds me of how Rarity's horn dragged her to the rock before she got her cutie mark. The magic system has never made much sense tbh. And maybe Twilight's castle turned back into a chest since she didn't live there anymore? Idk. It really bothers me that G5 is set in the same universe as G4 when there is no logical explanation for it.
Maybe magic works sometimes on ponies who dont have cutie marks to lead them towards their destiny to get there cutie marks, i think the castle reverted cause twilight was unalived or the castle took too much damage
@@starburst22 Oh... Well it's safe to say that none of the old buildings are around anymore. Maybe they explain it in the comics but I didn't read those.
A few points: -Yeah admittedly the punishment isnt very intimidating, but it is fitting for belittling and infantilizing misty in opalines eyes. And plus they couldnt have her physically hit her, theyve already been depicting parental emotional abuse and its affects on misty. -It is a bit anticlimactic for them to leave, but its not like they could do anything else. They beat her by the skin of their teeth, they cant kill her obv, and the focus is sparky being safe. Yes she will be a problem later but they are aware of it and preparing to counteract her, as they cant actually beat her in the moment
To me misty's cutie mark seems to make a bit of sense. She earns it by making the right choice to free her friends, I feel the butterfly symbols that she ishe is finally free to fly. She is in more control of her life than she was before.
but cutie marks arent symbolic, theyre a special talent. They arent supossed to have some deep meaning of renewal or doing the right thing its supposed to be something youre good at.
@@Commonpeople73 I agree, but since cutie marks were changed from how they work in g4 I'm not going to rule it out. I think this could also have something to do with her talent, she may help free others who are oppressed (Wishful thinking knowing how the writers line up a plot and then de-rail it into some other plot.) Kinda like the cutie mark Crusaders helping others earn their destinies, but more of helping others seek help/freedom.
Maybe the butterfly represents transformation. Like a caterpillar undergoing it's metamorphosis, Misty finally became the free spirit she was always meant to be.
It was actually much better than earlier chapters. I think the series is improving and become genuinely wholesome at times. Apparently Misty got her cutie mark in helping the mane 5. Her destiny is......uhm..... helping? I guess? Whatever, but there's still one thing, JAZZ IS STILL MISSING HER EARS. Also, Queen Haven literally ships her daughters with Hitch in the jinxie games episode.
If you notice, her Cutie Mark is actually a butterfly. She essentially went from a fuzzy caterpillar, too, a chrysalis-cocoon, to eventually sprouting like a butterfly. It’s pretty subtle, especially since she always drew a fake butterfly on her flank every time she went out.😅 it’s as if she subconsciously knew, just like the Cutie Mark Crusaders did, but she was so put out by everything going on, and basically stuffed into a box by Opaline
I was amazed the jazz missing her ears error was still there. However from equestria daily, it turns out it was intentional. The concept art for jazz had her hair really high and fluffy. Enough for jazz's ears to be covered. However translating it to 3d flattened her hair a lot and the animators couldn't make her ears where they should be unless from the side it would clip into her mane. So they decided to mostly remove her ears all together to look more alike the concept art.
If you go back to what Twilight said, Magic is stronger then ever, so i guess it kinda made cutie marks, and items EXTREMELY OP, Also it would have been cooler if Opalin was called a Pheonix Alicorn instead of just...Fire Alicorn, i just think the name is a little bland Maybe the reason the six-sided chest is there is because maybe the castle got destroyed and reverted back to default and when she defeated Twilight she took it as a victory trophy???
Something tells me in future chapters the animation and general writing will get better as we are already seeing. I think the best way to summarize the quality of writing is like building a house. You can have a great structure and design but if the foundation was not made correctly the house will fall apart. If the story was not made correctly, it is going to fall apart. ANG had a lot riding on it. It was the start of g5 and the foundation to the house. But the world building had holes in it and the more the holes were shown, you see the story fall apart. We'll still see some episodes like "Izzy Does It" but we'll also see "Portrait for a Princess" kind of episodes. I am optimistic that the writers will find their footing, showing more episodes that focus on the characters and less episodes that focus on world building (since g5 shows it can't seem to do too much basic world building.) ...so Opalines a fire alicorn confirming element magic for alicorns which makes ZERO sense. Sure, her and Celestia both are fire alicorns. Opaline shoots fire out of her horn while Celestia moves THE LITERAL SUN. The rest of the alicorns don't have elemental magic though. also: i envy your ability being able to record perfectly for a full 26 minutes straight with complete consistency throughout, despite the yelling which i'd imagine can put a strain on the vocals-
I think this an excellent way to describe what has happened with G5. If they want to build on their foundation any further, they need to first repair it so that the rest of the house they build can be great! I actually am unable to record this perfectly. I truly wish I could, but I tend to stumble over my words, get a dry throat and mouth from going too long and have the occasional voice crack. When recording a longer video like this, I actually have to take a short break and come back later to finish recording because my mouth is too dry. When I stumble over my words or have unnatural pauses, I do a retake and fix it in the editing process. My original audio was over an hour long because of this.
I would like to hear Princess Celestia and Luna's side of the story if they do return in the next MLP: Make Your Mark Chapter because I'm getting a feelings that Opaline wasn't telling the whole truth about her past. I mean the way she discribe her backstory to Misty she looks bitterly jealous and angry as for Misty at the end of this episode I'm hoping that she had left Opaline's castle for good now that she finally got her cutie mark at last and join the 5 maines into help them to defeat Opaline once and for all.
There is a possibility for celestia and luna to make a quick appearence cause if opalin was from celestia and lunas time, there probably out there just vibing. Also i think Opalin was jealous cause Celestia has the suns power and Luna has moon powers while she just gets stuck with just fire😅. I just like the idea of Opalin thinking that being a fire Alicorn is the best thing, while she was mostlikely one of the weaker Alicorn types. (She was definetly also jealous of their glorious flowing manes :3)
I think I have an explanation why the Defense Factory isn't from the Cloverleaf's. After the construction of the Giant Robot, Canterlogic savings went extict, and after Sprout destroyed the Lighthouse and was found guilty of the act, considering the factory wasn't useful anymore, they decided to sell it to the town to pay for the crystal Lighthouse and have enough income to live. That's why its considered a public place, and hitch is Ok with remodeling it.
This is the show that Hasbro wanted G4 to be. Inane writing directed at 4 to 14 year old girls and 3D animation that sells toys to said kids. If Lauren hadn't pulled a fast one on Hasbro the Brony fandom would never have happened.
@@piku5637 That'd require a fandom, any fandom, being some "monolith," which ... IMO perpetuating that idea that it is some monolith, and therefore you can generalize, makes the person or persons doing that (as opposed to calling out bullshit generalizations AND calling out problem people) part of the problem.
When Ovaltine -- I mean *Opaline* -- was talking about killing Sparky, I figured Star Strike would make a joke about her finally doing something good for the world that everyone would be grateful to her for. But in the context of the episode it really did come off as perversely cruel and therefore making a joke would have been in really bad taste.
If I was going to fix the second episode I would have Sunny see the photo of Sprout and His mum together and realise that the Cantalogic Factory is very precious to Sprout. I would have loved it if the main five had not only included Sprout but given him a new purpose and goal to strive for.
I absolutely love this idea! I personally thought that that episode was the worst one out of them all, but I think this small change could have easily made it the best!
Imagine if Opaline wasn't alicorn from the beginning (or at least, became one at the same time with Celestia and Luna), but rather was a unicorn from twilight's era with great knowledge and mind, surpassing those of even Twilight, that she was able to ascend to alicornhood on her own. That would have explained how she was able to defeat Twilight and why getting rid of magic was best solution. And then the reason why she acted so weird and dumb in the present is due to her mental degradation from being alone and not able to fulfill her desire for magic for a few thousand years. Sunny is unredeemable tho. She is just annoying bland character 🥀. Even Pipp is soo much more compelling and she is supposed to be this typical influencer
I like this reasoning as to how Twilight could lose to somepony like Opaline. It is a little dark for MLP, so I can see why they wouldn't go that route though.
It feels so wierd that twilight lose, I mean I think her as an alicorn must have have learn and read pretty much every spell in existence, what kind of magic did opal use to make twilight lose? Better qeustion what kind of magic did she use to beat up discord? I mean the only thing that can beta him are the element of Harmony and we know he can manipulate reality and rewrite it on an huge lvl as seen in the s2 ep 1 and others.
I have a theory on why their cutiemarks glow like that. If anyone remembers, their cutie marks never glowed while the new generation movie was taking place. So this only started happening after the magic was restored with the alicorn crystals. And for the cutie marks glowing, its linked to how a pony builds friendship, like how the chrystals were shattering with bad behaviour, and breaking reality. The opposite provides more and more power to the chrystals, which would explain how it would create new magic for earth ponies. And if the chrystals get to full power, maybe sunny could theoretically be able to be a permanent alicorn, and maybe even restore all alicorn magic. Isnt is funny how all magic is restored but opaline has to rely on stealing magic to reclaim it. And also celestia, luna, twilight, and cadence arent around to help? Because the chrystal does not have enough power to restore alicorn magic as alicorn magic is greater than most magic in equestria.
This chapter was definitely an improvement! Loved the finale too. I’m very invested in what lies in store for Misty and her newfound freedom along with what Opaline plans to do with the other dragons! But yeah, Sunny and her friends stealing Sprout’s family factory was pretty unacceptable, especially when it’s clear that the place wasn’t completely abandoned.
I’m super glad and surprised that Chapter 4 is better and enjoyable than what I anticipate. The people actually put in more effort into it. I’m really hoping Chapter 5 would continue to bring in more interesting stuff. Great video Star!
Star Strike being somewhat positive about G5? I must be dreaming. I myself think chapter 4 was the BEST installment of G5 since A New Generation. Had a great time watching!
@@Star_Strike I have a video suggestion. Change one thing from each of the Chapter 4 episodes like you did with Chapter 2. Just a suggestion you don't have to do it if you don't want to.
My thoughts about MYM for so long often revolves around me saying "I wish the script was given more time for developmental editing" instead of being rushed through production like this. Imagine how much crap we could've been spared if MYM Chapter 1 (13 episodes w/ a special or two batch) was first released in 2023 (or maybe later 2024) instead. With how successful ANG was back in 2021, I bet MLP fans could've eagerly waited for the TV series for as long as it needs. It's hard to relish on whatever improvements MYM has shown over these past 2 years when it already caused so many damages along the way. It'll be jarring if Chapter 5 or 6 comes along and suddenly the characters are written with much depth and nuance that's better than ANG, the stories surrounding them are suddenly excellently mature that incites good discussion, and also suddenly Opaline becomes incredibly threatening dialed up to 11. I mean, that'll be good. A wishful thinking that may come true? I still want that. But yeah, I would have rather waited until 2024 to have a polished and competent set of Chapter 1 episodes released on Netflix. TYT stories can just merge with MYM in order to add more meaningful slice-of-life meat to these 22-min episodes.
As a fan of TYT, I've always disagreed that you need to watch it in order to understand MYM. It seems like it writes backward from what was already written in MYM.
Remember when in the first entry of G4’s Equestria Girls spin-off series Sunset Shimmer snatched the magic crown from behind Twilight’s back and became a raging demon, only to be defeated by the Elements of Harmony? One of the darker scenes in that movie, but it made her one of the better My Little Pony villains than Opaline.
7:00 Yeah, it's true but we don't forget that Sprout destroyed Sunny's home so I think he and her mom gave her the place for compensation 20:42 They couldn't do anything with Opaline and their mission were to rescue Sparky.
The animation really improved a bit, they feel less stiff and have way more dynamics in their movements along with those improved expressions. However the quality is still kinda the same, there are still a few errors like fetlocks or manes twitching, unfocused eyes that are obvious despite trying to hide it or hope they won't notice, and ears still appearing and disappearing, but it doesn't happen As often as it used to. When it comes to the Alicorn thing, Lauren Faust did confirm that Celestia and Luna did come from an Alicorn nation with Amy, the one who wrote Journal of the Two Sisters. Amy goes on to further explain this in the 2016 Brony Con panel when addressing what Celestia and Luna meant when they said "We have never seen a Alicorn Born in Equestria" and that it was something she and Lauren had decided as lore for the Sisters. To cut it short, the sisters didn't lie that they never seen a alicorn born in Equestria, because they were the only True Alicorns to rule over Equestria. When Equestria was becoming a nation, the ponies sent Star Swirl and a few other Delegates to find the alicorns to rule over them without bias as they weren't involved in their disputes and came across Celestia and Luna. It also explains why They lived 1000+ years, while Twilight and Cadence will eventually grow old and die like regular ponies.
If you look at the room the crystal box is in, I'm a little convinced Opaline live's in Twilight's castle considering the two large roots in the room. Also, not sure where, but I think someone mentioned that Misty's cutiemark of a butterfly is a representation of change.
Believe it or not, Skyros is a canonical place in Equestria. It was only mentioned in a published book called “The Journal of the Two Sisters”. It explains that Skyros is a place where all alicorns live, including Celestia and Luna.
I love how *petty* the reason for Opaline's villain story actually is. it's not some horrible backstory. It's just "The sisters were more popular than me!!!!! How dare!!!!" and so she decides only Alicorns (see: just her) can have magic. Just like the Movie's conflict was Sprout just being a massive Momma's boy who wanted to make momma proud and got WAY carried away. It reminds me more of Gen1 villains and it's a breath of fresh air that no one point in the series is "super serious lore and world building" like the later chunk of the last Gen was. I was tired of "ramping up the peril" with villains being more and more world destroying. I love how it was seriously ramped up too. They built it up to the point of it feeling like it'd be a huge villainous backstory, but nope! Just angry she wasn't popular. I love it.
7:15 Adverse possession laws. Tax leins. Squatting with the intention to possess. Imminent Domain. Are just a few legal ways one can simply "steal" a property. Or the whole Joke is on Sprout because his name isnt on anything and he owns nothing. I could see his mom saying "no son, we're not rich, I'm rich."
Star Strike is like SaberSpark 2.0, you are doing a great job with these critique videos. Keep it up, honestly at this point I get more hyped up from this vids than for the actual show lol.
Sunny didn’t steal the building tho. The cloverleaf family has abandoned it and no one owns it at that moment so sunny can actually decorate the building with her friends.
The problem with there being an alicorn civilization is that Luna said in the episode Flurry Heart was born that they had never seen the birth of an alicorn, which hints that alicorns are MADE not BORN. So there’s no way there’s a civilization unless it’s an alicorn factory cult like a n*dist colony. This that means that Celestial and Luna were made into alicorns not born as alicorns. Like how Cadence is hinted to have been made into an alicorn after stopping being the CrystalPrincess.
One thing to mention from G4 is that it was said magic constantly evolves so that would explain why magic isn't completely the same. Earth pony magic is already distinctive. Still pretty powerful, more so then ever.
@@FuriousFanBoy- Twilight said this in chapter 2. Also Magic doesn't have any rhyme or reason, because the ponies don't have any real idea how to control it so it is fine that it works on odd ways. I mean they just got it back after possibly hundreds or thousands of years, so it makes sense that magic is out of control. The writing is what is the issue.
Oh, wow. You said everything I have been saying lol And thank you! Sprout keeps getting shafted! And I hate it. He was their child Hood friend and they treat him terribly. Oh and I 100% believe that Mysty is going to become another Alicorn like Sunny Oh and I liked the make up lol
7:20 the only explanation i can find is that either phillys donated the building to lessen the punishment of sprout, or she sold it once it was not profitable anymore, and Sprout being well sprout didnt get the memo, or, Phillys didnt stop them because she didnt want to call attention to herself again after sprout, OR sunny is a dictator expropiatin land, so technicaly still within the Law
That manure line from Applejack gave me a good laugh. I'm assuming Hitch didn’t say anything because Sunny was in Alicorn Mode and maybe that gives her some subconscious command power neither she or the others are aware of yet? It's something, at least. Opaline was young when Celestia and Luna were young. That opens WAY too many questions I know will NEVER be answered. WHY is the Crystal chest there? What the hay?! The fight scene isn't half bad. Not have good, but not half bad. I'm just rolling with alternate timeline. It makes the most sense. Maybe Twilight trapped Opaline in an alternate timeline.
19:41 Actually kind of does work like that in a way it kind of mirrors how the CMC got there cutie marks in the beginning Misty was willing to do anything too get her cutie mark but once she stopped thinking of herself and did what her heart actually wanted to do she got her cutie mark since she embraced well herself Now to talk about why it was a butterfly most commonly known butterflies represent change but interestingly enough different colors mean different things let's use Fluttershy's cutie mark as an example she has three blue and pink butterflies blue represents things such as luck, life even love while pink represents things like relief, positivity, Trust which represent her very well while Misty's cutie mark is an orange and purple butterfly orange representing energy and life most importantly the soul on the other hand extremely interesting because purple represents important characters in your life solving a mystery or even a life Pursuit lastly I type a spiritual enlightenment or revelation To sum it up Misty's cutie mark represents her character and her Ark pretty well
I am so happy I am not the only one freaking out about the fact they just yoinked that building from the Cloverleaf's. Like I was physically shouting at my screen like bruh.
i upon hearing the one about zip discovering stuff i think i would have liked if she reacted as insanely as twilight does in lesson zero but its due to caffein and lack of sleep because of the flow of her discovering what happened but no 99% of reboots can't be funny!
Ep 2 was my favorite of the bunch because Sprout. They answered some questions lingering since the movie about that big eyesore of a factory. I gave no thought to the iffy property situation, tho. Since it was Phyllis's factory, I just assumed she abandoned it and didn't let her son know because she didn't want to explain to him what a tax write-off is.
I love this guy-ALSO YOUR NOT THE ONLY ONE I ALSO EAT THE DOUNUTS PLAIN, also remember in the movie when sunny and izzy meet zipp beforeshe runs away she's shown flying in the air how tho!?!i thought the magic was gone
For some reason they love including Sprout in the episodes without doing anything with him. First he grew that giant berry. They could have, like you said, have him get the hang of their new powers and become a teacher and help ponies control their magic. And in season 4, they let him appear and do a "Haha I own this building and all of it! Sprout rules!" instead of Sunny and Hitch, as his former friends, talking to him about how this space was not used in forever and could really help bringing ponies together. This could have helped his development. And yes, I DO want him to get some redemption. I think he has real potential.
@Star_Strike Yes! I was a bit disappointed when Misty was revealed to become the 6th friend because I was rooting for Sprout to take that spot but I like her so that's fine. Still hope he gets more screen time and maybe they explore his doubts and regret of his actions in the movie a bit more (pretty sure he's not proud of what he did and maybe he could look for ways to understand Sunny's side better and find some unicorn and pegasus friends) because currently his sporadic appearance led to nothing and felt more like "remember Sprout. He still exists. Got that? Good. Bye Sprout"
chapter 4 was BETTER, not ''good' it was better, the bar was very low and the other chapters could of been easily outclassed. Its still a wonder if anything will be answered satisfyingly but i feel that g5 kinda doomed itself with how its butchered/changed g4s stuff
Just a few things Misty started to use magic before she got her cutie mark. And her cutie was earned by realising who she is and her destiny to stop Opaline. And when Opaline punished Misty, she prevented her from moving from the spot. Standing in one place is extremely uncomfortable. I do wonder about the factory though, Sunny kind of took it over.
It could have been written that the factory was given to Sunny and her friends to be used for their planned project of turning it into the canterlove studios after the destruction of her home in the movie by Sprout. I mean that would have worked a whole lot better than. "This is ours now and you can fuck right off".
I have a theory that Opaline was the one who corrupted Luna and turned her into Nightmare Moon. If you look at the first two episodes of FiM, anytime Nightmare Moon is on screen, she has this magenta glow to her magical aura which is the same color as Opaline’s magic aura. But in the episode where Luna gives herself nightmares as a punishment for becoming Nightmare Moon, that version has a saturated purple aura that matches Luna’s magic aura. My theory is Celestia and Luna were chosen by Starswirl to be his own personal students because they were kind hearted and wanted to help others and because they could raise the sun and moon by themselves without any help and told by their instructor to keep away from Opaline who Starswirl had sensed having a dark and selfish heart and he knew that such darkness could easily spread. Luna obeyed at first but eventually she had developed the idea that Opaline could become kinder and more caring towards others but it was a lost cause from the start. From here Opaline toyed with Luna’s thoughts and insecurity that she wasn’t as respected as Celestia because no Pony was ever fully awake all night long to admire her important job and the evil alicorn had planted seeds of jealousy via a spell that eventually overtook Luna’s better judgement and changed her into Nightmare Moon. When Twilight and her friends used the Elements of Harmony on Nightmare Moon, the blast from the Elements had freed Luna from Opaline’s control. After that, any time Nightmare Moon had appeared, the magenta glow was no longer in her aura. Opaline had been living outside of Equestria and slowly building up her ultimate plan of taking over Equestria. She did do anything while Celestia and Luna were the rulers as having two alicorns magically dueling one would lead to failure. But with Twilight, it was only one alicorn which made things more equal and having no Tree of Harmony or physical embodiments of the Elements meant less threats to Opaline and her plans. What Opaline never considered to be a road block to her plans was Twilight being able to perform massive magical attacking spells when every Pony and creature in Equestria including Discord had come together as one to give her an unimaginable amount of magical power as Twilight was basically a Princess of unity once she took over the throne from Celestia and Luna.
17:14 If you look closely, the artifact is broken in half, that's where the tree came from, the other part must have been left in ruins or idk, if the tree came to the surface the artifact must have been under the earth as if it were a seed husk or something. And man... you have a vision of an eagle, I hadn't even noticed the background, I'm going to start noticing more
i think the grounding is her worst punishment yet because misty literally couldnt do anything at all until opaline was back. (assuming misty didnt use magic since seems neither her or opaline knew she could.) liek imagine if opaline died while gone and misty was just stuck in her room slowly starving to death???
My theory about Misty's magic and how the Cutie Marks work: I dont think the Cutie Marks power the beam, I think Opaline was wrong about that and things with magic are just a bit different now that the Ponies don't naturally have magic anymore. It seems like Misty had a lot of trouble controlling it without her cutie mark, and once she got it she could control it no issue. Have we seen if Blank Flanks can fly/use their horns/control plants? I don't remember, but with how Opaline says their magic comes from their Cutie Marks, I think the Cutie Marks are a conduit for the magic that Twilight trapped in the crystals. Therefore without a Cutie Mark, they may not have access to the magic even with it being back now, cause they don't have the conduit for the magic? Just my thoughts!
yeah, i agree, it got a thousand times better than the other episodes. i was so touched about the mane 5 finding out that misty betrayed them, and finally being able to reconnect at the end w
Opaline is like Tirek, except that Opaline needs to steal a lot of Dragon Magic first, before she can absorb the other kinds of magic. On to the Cantalogic building, maybe there was suppose to be a scene where they asked Cloverleaf if they could turn the factory into something for all ponies to use. I mean it would make sense they asked about it and given how they're doing MYM it would've just been lost to translation like how everyone wasn't sus of Misty except for Zipp and even then Zipp wasn't putting all of focus on Misty. Who knows, maybe Sprout will bring it up to Cloverleaf and will get it shut down in a later episode. That's how I see it anyways.
Wow. So much yelling and anger. O_O I LOVED it! 😀 I just finished Chapter 4 and honestly, you pretty much nailed it. I did like this chapter more than the others simply because it had PLOT DEVELOPMENT. As you said, that is a REALLY low bar, though. I was ok with Bridlewoodstock and I actually did like the message. It was nice to see there were TWO songs instead of one, though they were very generic. I did like Ruby's design. As a person starting dredlocks in her own hair, I liked see her hair texture (as well as Misty's) onscreen. Ruby and Electric Blue's color schemes were also quite pretty to me. The remodel episode was ok, though your point about them not owning the building was hilarious and spot-on! It was nice to see Sprout again. I like Have's relationship with Alphabittle and I can see why her girls aren't cool with it. For me, that was the best part of the episode. Sunny Side up was fine. I did like Sunny and Hitch's dynamic, though I 100% miss the Hitch from the movie. 😞 Even before getting Sparky, his personality changed drastically in TYT and chapter 2 and I hated it. He was my second favorite character in the movie (under Zipp). The ball was cute and I did like the interactions between Zipp and Misty. Zipp has always been my favorite, so I'm glad she actually has something to do that is relevant to the overarching plot. Her suspicious were spot-on and I'm glad they had that confrontation. Misty's inner conflicts were actually done well and I did like most of the final episode. I did feel like I had missed something when it started with her kidnapping Sparky. I had watched all of TYT and I don't remember that. TYT 54 was essentially a recap of the final episode and it wasn't shown. Unlike TYT, Misty's hair hasn't changed in MYM, so I'm not sure where her new look came from (and I don't really like it). Overall, a better chapter than the others, but that's a pretty low bar. I'm glad the plot was moved and Misty has gotten her arc (and cutie mark). I'm also starting to like Pipp more. She is the influencer-type that I usually hate, but there is more to her and she is actually a very caring individual. I still like Zipp the most. I don't understand why she is the only one that seems to care about the history, though. That is something Twilight would have been all over and her friends would have helped no-question. That's what Sunny is missing. I get her urge to help others (and steal buildings?), but that is all there is to her. Hitch is a completely different character and Sparky needs to go away. I also appreciate your mention of how convoluted this format is. I've tried watching things as they have come out, but it's still confusing. Before watching Chapter 4, I found a YT channel with all of TYT (up to episode 54) and watched/re-watched them all, just to be sure. It seems that 54 should be watch AFTER Chapter 4, which is frustrating. There is no rhyme or reason to this format and there doesn't seem to be a list that clearly points out what order you have to watch everything. That's honestly a huge turn-off. As frustrating as Marvel is, with their shows and movies intertwining, THEY are easier to follow. I've bookmarked the YT channel and will watch the new TYT episodes as they come, but it's all kind of a shit-show.
I feel if Opaline is remotely close or the same age as celestia and Luna and is still alive now. That might mean the others are too and the sun and moon are still being controlled by them in a whole nother country or state. I like to think this. As far as zip explaining how Opaline is the problem I was very disappointed to not hear her actually talk and explain the clues connecting. I simply said "Of course the writers were too lazy to go that far -___-"
Yep - that immediately struck me in that one scene - that Opaline being alive means that none of the G4 alicorns died of old age, and barring anything or anyone else doing them in, they have to be around somewhere. I do hope they explore that more, but holy cow am I nervous about how they go about it if they do.
@@lightninggear0131 I never finished the series sadly I can't find season 9 or 10 I don't know where to find then. But either way- celestia and Luna should still be alive if Opaline is. And man- opaline looks good for her age XD!
8:19 What else do you expect Opaline to do? Burn Misty with cigarettes? Throw empty beer bottles at her head while screaming about how she ruined Opaline’s life? Opaline is a joke of a villain, yeah, but there’s only so much parental abuse a TV-Y cartoon can show. 15:46 As someone raised by a super manipulative parent, Misty’s reluctance to quit Opaline’s abuse cold-turkey checks out. (Granted, Opaline is really bad at being manipulative, but the thought is there.) Because, no matter how badly you were treated, you still want their approval, and there will always be the incorrect beliefs you were taught that make everyone else look like an even *worse* bad guy. Misty not doing a total 180 makes sense, especially since we FINALLY see Opaline actually praise Misty at some point early on in the chapter. My big complaint with Opaline and Misty’s relationship in the previous chapters was that Opaline was too cruel to Misty. The best villains (and worst parents) are Tirek and Our Town era Starlight, not chapter 3 Opaline. So Misty continuing to do what Opaline says fits with the unfortunate reality of chasing that ever-so-rare respect you get from someone you (are basically conditioned to) look up to. It’s not Misty being stupid or a hypocrite, it’s Misty being a victim of abuse. (Edited for typo)
The crystals definitely changed the magic. Twilight must have created some sort of failsafe spell that keeps ponies who don’t know or stray from their true talent and cause disharmony from being able to utilize their true talents. This is why they only have one cutie mark and why even though they can find their true talent and earn a cutie mark without magic, that magic is limited because they only showcased only a minute portion of harmony in that moment. We see this is the case when Misty seemingly starts understanding her destiny and true self. Only one thing that throws a wrench, albeit a small one, into that theory is Opaline. My only guess so far is that because she’s an alicorn, an originally ancient one and is one of an element, her magical prowess couldn’t be completely drained. She’s like Admiral Zhao, doesn’t think things through, is too wild and misses the obvious right in front of her, despite being a genius battle mage.
@@FuriousFanBoy- my best guess right now would be due to the fact that opaline can actually steal magic without any sort of trigger, possibly because her element is fire and fire can spread in ways that is unpredictable, so her magic is kind of like that. That and Opaline knew how to get under everyone’s skin, and it was creating a wave of this harmony that twilight, for some reason didn’t know how to resolve without taking extreme measures. It’s also possible that the magic that opaline was using to cause disharmony amongst other ponies wasn’t just her using words, but instilling a kind of spell that, without direct interference from twilight, wouldn’t be able to overcome this. So the unity crystals are supposed to be incorruptible and tied to the Harmony in Equestria. At this point, everything seems to be pointing towards subtlety, something that we might be able to just start figuring out if we put the pieces together, starting with chapter 4, and working our way backwards rather than just outright, explaining it. So it seems like they’re just trying to do more show, and not tell, which can work, but it seems to be sloppy up till this point.
@@FuriousFanBoy- it’s possible that twilight had more reasons than one to make these crystals, because we all know how unpredictable ponies can get, and with the Windigos being a threat, she had to figure out some thing. That’s not to say that I agree with twilights method, but she may have done what she thought was best up to that point.
Actually, we are dealing with THREE SEPARATE UNIVERSES! IDW has said "buck it" and replaced Opaline, Misty and Sparky with the return of Discord. TYT has had Misty give up her magic amulet with everypony present to see the dark energy erupt from the broken shards but she doesn't tell them sh(yay) about Opaline. And now we have MYM where Misty has been turned and is now a double agent? Which actually sounds kinna cool, to be quite honest. But all three are now totally canon divergent.
About Misty breaking Opaline's spell.... Hologram Twilight did say "Magic is ALIVE, always CHANGING, growing STRONGER" So basically magic has evolved to a point where it's so powerful that a unicorn without any experience can break an (admittedly weakend) alicorn's spell.
Are the troggles the ghost of the troggles from g1? Also are sirens sea dragons? Cause the pink fire of a dragon in opaline's hoof at the end of chapter 4 looks like a siren?
I have a theory, perhaps opaline is going through the same issue that sunset shimmer did in the first EQG movie, being a really bad and ineffective villain but will eventually turn out to be an awesome heroine. Cause I'm noticing she is not very proactive is neither threatening nor clever and her evil plans go absolutely nowhere, but her last plan comes close to winning just like sunset did in her arc. I mean sure she is still evil by the end of this but perhaps somewhere down the line something will happen to bring her to the good side. So I predict that the reason why she is an awful antagonist is because she was meant to be a good protagonist all along.😊
This chapter to me is rewatcheable genuinely and made me want more. Yet the previous chapters didn’t have that oomph. The writing quality improved in chapter 4 significantly imo. But especially the animation.
22:15 I think, maybe from my own imagination trying desperately to connect things, that the mirror is connected to Misty’s amulet in Tell Your Tale? In which case it showed up there and then was disenchanted there.
"Bridlewoodstock Festival" had a few more problems I would say. Izzy mentions the problem from the start, but later it seems like Pipp and the others react like they were hearing it for the first time, which kind of irritated me. They react to something that was already said, way too late. Or maybe I understood something in that episode wrong.
I finally just finished chapter 4 and... I spent the entire episodes wondering if they were going to be good or not. And I was disappointed in many ways. However the few moments where I was really captivated were those on the development of Misty. I love her character and I looked forward to each episode just for her. Conclusion of chapter 4: meh but is still better than the previous ones
And one more thing, if opaline tried to steal the crystals, Magic will be gone because the unity crystals are connected to the magic in that specific area and trying to get it out will definitely destroy the magic in equestria and opaline might even lose her own magic.
21:30 I have many things to point out but I'm just gonna point out this one thing and deal with the rest later. yes, despite how dumb opaline can be, she certainly did gaslight misty to HELL about the magic thing. Misty was so convinced that she can't use her magic without her cutie mark, she had literally no idea up until she ACCIDENTLY used it to free herself from opalines weak magic. Imagine being that emotionally damaged and manipulated that you have no idea about very basic things. because remember, unicorns can still freely use their magic without their cutie mark, so that leads me to believe that misty was severely gaslighted through-out her time of living with her. Especially if Misty was found by Opaline before all of the magic came back, which is most likely the case. Basically what I'm saying is, Misty always had her magic, just thanks to opaline- she never knew how to use it. She may not be menacing on the outside but I feel bad for the possible emotional abuse misty went through with opaline offscreen. As for the other stuff- I'll point that out myself in videos I plan to make at some point here. 👀
"Sunny Side Up" had its ups. The interaction between Sunny and Hitch was fun, but him being camera shy was nonsense. Also, Opaline being able to get that Dragon Stone is utter nonsense. Seemingly she is locked up at her castle? Like, later in the show she needs some magical BS to visit the pony towns, but she can get the stone easily by herself which is very important for her to become strong, which doesn't make a sense. Why can she get the stone? Why isn't it out of her reach and guarded? Also, why would Twilight not be able to beat her when Opaline is right there on a silver platter, not able to move? I never understood that part. Painting Celestia and Luna as arrogant by ignoring her adds insult to injury. But I loved the time-out part. Why? It could be great in a different context. Opaline raised Misty, so she is like her mother. Personally, it is a wasted opportunity to not have her be a mother to Misty in this show. Maybe a mother that actually cares about her and tries to get her a cutie mark in being a villain like herself, but Misty might have not have the talent for it, hence she isn't getting it. There could be conflict with Misty having to choose between two different kinds of ponies she cares about, leading her to sabotage both sides so they are not making any progress and she can keep enjoying her life with both. That would be interesting.
That second episode could have been easily fixed by Sunny offering to get rid of the factory's rats in exchange for letting the town use it as a community center. Then Sprout would agree. That's it. I don't care much about writing flaws in kids shows but you can easily screw up kids if you send the wrong message. Another wrong message that someone else pointed out was the lesson about trying to please everyone. Obviously the lesson is you can't but the sollution did not come with consequences.
They're really not hiding how that stage, and other structures look like blatant toy sets. Equestria views all Alicorns as Royalty. Celestia and Luna ruled from Canterlot, Cadence ruled the Crystal Empire, even Twilight acted as a defacto ruler under the Sisters then took over when they "retired". Opaline, being an Alicorn as old as the Sisters, could've just walked up after escaping the Castle and claim her birthright.
I still think that misty didn’t want her friends to be trapped. Before doing all that, she said she wants to do things right so she tried to get them to help sparky but opaline came and thought misty done it on purpose and making her friends believe that. Misty apologised for lying to them but she really didn’t want them to be trapped. I know how it feels when you’re being accused by someone when they don’t have the evidence, but they believed the lie instead of the truth coming out from you
In defense of Misty's magic.
But Star Strike needs to ignore that so as to complain. semi-jk

Misty also said Opaline taught her Earth ponies had laser eyes.
But seriously, why couldn't she call out that Opaline *LIED* to her?

Here is something literally NOPONY noticed:
Misty's cutie mark is a butterfly and butterflies are caterpillars that break out of their cocoon. Misty got it when she joined the mane 5, breaking out of her cocoon(Opaline).
I think Misty's cutie mark symbolises change in her life which is exactly what you said .
A CUTIE MARK CANNOT BE A SYMBOLIC GESTURE
@@Commonpeople73 I'm confused a little, don't they resemble something?
@Vibrant Gleam they represent a special talent the pony has like craft or music or dancing etc.
@@Commonpeople73 It can be and almost always is majority of time. Take ponies like Celestia, Luna, and Diamond Tiara for example.
I also don't know if Sunny is powerful enough to kill Opaline or if she's not willing to murder her even if it's for the greater good.
I can relate to misty!! I also have a narcisstic mom and idk what to do about it. I have to live with a woman who doesn't respect me :/
Honestly yeah, Misty genuinely gained a lot of my favor and respect in this episode, and SO DID OPALINE- like she actually kinda reminds me of Chrysalis in a way, but at the same time she’s completely different and new… I love Villains and somehow MLP tends to get the villains right more then the protagonists/heroes
It's unknown if Celestia & Luna are truly dead.
I actually think Luna and Celestia are still alive. Because how tf are the sun and moon working?
> *how come she is still alive but they are dead.*
That would assume they are dead - which we honestly don't know. Opaline's being their age does confirm one thing though - that if any of the G4 alicorns did die, NONE of them would have died of old age.
Spoilers for the g4 final season:
Luna and Celestia retire and give twilight some of their magic to be able to control the sun and moon using an artifact or something I believe. But either way, my theory is that they went with the hippogriffs because they said they were retiring on a beach I believe. @@ichangednametoamorecringyo1489
I just thought twilight automated it. They did give her the clock imbued with some of their magic.
1:06 - 1:15 That clearly-stoned-out-of-his-mind pony followed by that clip of AJ asking "what kind of fertilizer have you had your nose in?" made me spit my coffee all over my screen. 😂

Not gunna lie that clip was perfect
Chapter 4 despite its problems and is definitely the best chapter by far.
It improved things so much
this is good to know
It'll just take a while to fully sort out all of the new magic principals (and spells!) That we see in MYM.
Look at the last shot of FIM. Where Luster Dawn meets new friends and waves goodbye to the mane 6. The castle is still in the background
@@starburst22 Oh... Well it's safe to say that none of the old buildings are around anymore. Maybe they explain it in the comics but I didn't read those.
the hope is that they actually address it in future chapters
I viewed it is explained in the comics.
A few points:
-Yeah admittedly the punishment isnt very intimidating, but it is fitting for belittling and infantilizing misty in opalines eyes.
RIGHT? What were they going to do, call the royal guard?
Plus this is a kids show. They wouldn’t really have any physical abuse in it.
To me misty's cutie mark seems to make a bit of sense. She earns it by making the right choice to free her friends, I feel the butterfly symbols that she ishe is finally free to fly. She is in more control of her life than she was before.
I agree as butterflies symbolize freedom
but cutie marks arent symbolic, theyre a special talent.
@@BobHershey oh my goodness!! I love this!
Considering that Misty was raised to serve Opaline, I think making herself useful to somepony and helping is what she likes to do.
Pip gagged at her mother's comment, and Zip was a yeah,? so look
@@westernbody pipp is just shyyyy about it
If you notice, her Cutie Mark is actually a butterfly.
If you go back to what Twilight said, Magic is stronger then ever, so i guess it kinda made cutie marks, and items EXTREMELY OP, Also it would have been cooler if Opalin was called a Pheonix Alicorn instead of just...Fire Alicorn, i just think the name is a little bland
Maybe the reason the six-sided chest is there is because maybe the castle got destroyed and reverted back to default and when she defeated Twilight she took it as a victory trophy???
Oooh! I love that idea! Pheonix alicorn is 1000 times better! I SO wish they did that!
I am optimistic that the writers will find their footing, showing more episodes that focus on the characters and less episodes that focus on world building (since g5 shows it can't seem to do too much basic world building.)
...so Opalines a fire alicorn confirming element magic for alicorns which makes ZERO sense.
Still, it took a long time for them to reach to this point. Well, better late than never
I would like to hear Princess Celestia and Luna's side of the story if they do return in the next MLP: Make Your Mark Chapter because I'm getting a feelings that Opaline wasn't telling the whole truth about her past.

Ovaltine... 😂😂
I did consider making that joke, but chose not to for that exact reason.
“NO,YOU DONT OWN THE BUILDING” has to be my favorite line in the whole episode
Imagine if Opaline wasn't alicorn from the beginning (or at least, became one at the same time with Celestia and Luna), but rather was a unicorn from twilight's era with great knowledge and mind, surpassing those of even Twilight, that she was able to ascend to alicornhood on her own. That would have explained how she was able to defeat Twilight and why getting rid of magic was best solution. And then the reason why she acted so weird and dumb in the present is due to her mental degradation from being alone and not able to fulfill her desire for magic for a few thousand years.

If Sprout wasn't so smug he could file a legal claim to the property. But as it is, he thinks of the others as free caretakers.
I’m super glad and surprised that Chapter 4 is better and enjoyable than what I anticipate. The people actually put in more effort into it. I’m really hoping Chapter 5 would continue to bring in more interesting stuff. Great video Star!
But the question is when it will release already?
Star Strike being somewhat positive about G5? I must be dreaming. I myself think chapter 4 was the BEST installment of G5 since A New Generation. Had a great time watching!
I saw some good stuff in this chapter, and when stuff is done well I believe it is worth acknowledging. :)
I love how your videos aren't just boring reviews and I love how you explain all your points in a way everyone can understand
Thank you so much! I try very hard to make sure I always explain my points clearly, and I very much appreciate that you noticed! Thank you!
As a fan of TYT, I've always disagreed that you need to watch it in order to understand MYM. It seems like it writes backward from what was already written in MYM.
Same, they never really "explain" anything anymore then the show does.
@@Vader535 BRUH SUNSET'S TRANSFORMATION WAS CREEPY-
I think they actually did a great job on this chapter and that they'll only get better
if they get better
Sprout: My building!
Sunny: Our building.
USSR theme plays
I feel like Make Your Mark's plot could be even more serious in the subsequent chapters.
7:00 Yeah, it's true but we don't forget that Sprout destroyed Sunny's home so I think he and her mom gave her the place for compensation
20:42 They couldn't do anything with Opaline and their mission were to rescue Sparky.
the finale of this chapter outshined majority of the series IMO. finally we got some action and the ponies aren't just sitting around doing nothing.
honestly chapter 4 is the best chapter than before because it does have better animation and story in my opinion.
100% agree
Still pretty powerful, more so then ever.
vvher does it say that exactly
fuck i dont undetand hovv magic vvorks in g5
@@FuriousFanBoy- Twilight said this in chapter 2. Also Magic doesn't have any rhyme or reason, because the ponies don't have any real idea how to control it so it is fine that it works on odd ways. I mean they just got it back after possibly hundreds or thousands of years, so it makes sense that magic is out of control. The writing is what is the issue.
Oh, wow. You said everything I have been saying lol
And thank you! Sprout keeps getting shafted! And I hate it. He was their child Hood friend and they treat him terribly.
Oh and I 100% believe that Mysty is going to become another Alicorn like Sunny
Oh and I liked the make up lol
7:20 the only explanation i can find is that either phillys donated the building to lessen the punishment of sprout, or she sold it once it was not profitable anymore, and Sprout being well sprout didnt get the memo, or, Phillys didnt stop them because she didnt want to call attention to herself again after sprout, OR sunny is a dictator expropiatin land, so technicaly still within the Law
9:51 UuuuuuuhhMmmmmm… Twilights amulet broke after a long time so she casted a spell so they’d move on their own!
6:40 Sunny communist confirmed.
Now I’m starting to think Sunny and Starlight would make great friends.
i need to personally know why the comics story isnt the MAIN SHOW STORY!?!?!?!? LIKE WHATR???? its literally the most interesting storyline
19:41
Actually kind of does work like that in a way it kind of mirrors how the CMC got there cutie marks in the beginning Misty was willing to do anything too get her cutie mark but once she stopped thinking of herself and did what her heart actually wanted to do she got her cutie mark since she embraced well herself
Now to talk about why it was a butterfly most commonly known butterflies represent change but interestingly enough different colors mean different things let's use Fluttershy's cutie mark as an example she has three blue and pink butterflies blue represents things such as luck, life even love while pink represents things like relief, positivity, Trust which represent her very well while Misty's cutie mark is an orange and purple butterfly orange representing energy and life most importantly the soul on the other hand extremely interesting because purple represents important characters in your life solving a mystery or even a life Pursuit lastly I type a spiritual enlightenment or revelation
To sum it up Misty's cutie mark represents her character and her Ark pretty well
This is how many times Starsrike said "STUPID" in this video...(and at this point I don't blame him)😅😅
I am so happy I am not the only one freaking out about the fact they just yoinked that building from the Cloverleaf's. Like I was physically shouting at my screen like bruh.
Glad I wasn't the only one shouting at my screen XD
For the record, I agree that kids shouldn't be learning about stealing others properties and said it was theirs or everyone else's lol 😂😂😂
i upon hearing the one about zip discovering stuff i think i would have liked if she reacted as insanely as twilight does in lesson zero but its due to caffein and lack of sleep because of the flow of her discovering what happened but no 99% of reboots can't be funny!
honestly they should've just made thiz new generation in a different timeline
Ep 2 was my favorite of the bunch because Sprout. They answered some questions lingering since the movie about that big eyesore of a factory. I gave no thought to the iffy property situation, tho. Since it was Phyllis's factory, I just assumed she abandoned it and didn't let her son know because she didn't want to explain to him what a tax write-off is.
Phyllis is quite a awful mother honestly
Sprout was hilarious in that episode, IMO.
I agree. Not only do I think he has potential, but I honestly think he has some of the _most_ potential out of all the characters!
Got that? Good. Bye Sprout"
I swear Zipp is the only character in this generation that is in possesion of a braincell
chapter 4 was BETTER, not ''good' it was better, the bar was very low and the other chapters could of been easily outclassed. Its still a wonder if anything will be answered satisfyingly but i feel that g5 kinda doomed itself with how its butchered/changed g4s stuff
I think she got her cutie mark from breaking free from opaline (I'll add more later)
Plot twist, Opaline is actually Celestia other evil personality, I mean just think about it, her powers only works when the sun is up
Opaline:you can't keep me here forever. Sunny:no but I can keep you away from my friends. Star strike:NO SUNNY YOU STUPID YOU VERY VERY STUPID
17:14 If you look closely, the artifact is broken in half, that's where the tree came from, the other part must have been left in ruins or idk, if the tree came to the surface the artifact must have been under the earth as if it were a seed husk or something.
And man... you have a vision of an eagle, I hadn't even noticed the background, I'm going to start noticing more
19:28 In defense of Misty's cutie mark, I believe that she got her cutie mark for returning peace to her friends since butterflies symbolize peace.
1:13 IS THE BEST THING EVER, I DON'T REMEMBER IF THIS IS REAL
i think the grounding is her worst punishment yet because misty literally couldnt do anything at all until opaline was back. (assuming misty didnt use magic since seems neither her or opaline knew she could.) liek imagine if opaline died while gone and misty was just stuck in her room slowly starving to death???
My theory about Misty's magic and how the Cutie Marks work:
I dont think the Cutie Marks power the beam, I think Opaline was wrong about that and things with magic are just a bit different now that the Ponies don't naturally have magic anymore.
I just finished Chapter 4 and honestly, you pretty much nailed it.
21:21 misty used her magic before earning her magic in the episode where she got grounded so that's not rlly how it works
I simply said "Of course the writers were too lazy to go that far -___-"
velp lets see if the next chapter gets any better (probs not)
Yep - that immediately struck me in that one scene - that Opaline being alive means that none of the G4 alicorns died of old age, and barring anything or anyone else doing them in, they have to be around somewhere. I do hope they explore that more, but holy cow am I nervous about how they go about it if they do.
But twilight was controlling the sun and moon at the end of g4
@@lightninggear0131 I never finished the series sadly I can't find season 9 or 10 I don't know where to find then. But either way- celestia and Luna should still be alive if Opaline is. And man- opaline looks good for her age XD!
@@capricornscreations3500 I saw raritydash reaction video to every episode . Season 10 was only in comic form. Yes opaline does look good.
HE STILL COMPLAINS DESPITE BEING POSTIVE ABOUT SOME THINGS UNREAL BRO 💀
She’s like Admiral Zhao, doesn’t think things through, is too wild and misses the obvious right in front of her, despite being a genius battle mage.
but Y did she make them though...
not to mention the crystals literally suppressed magic in a vvay that it vvas never meant to be in the first place
Hologram Twilight did say "Magic is ALIVE, always CHANGING, growing STRONGER"
So basically magic has evolved to a point where it's so powerful that a unicorn without any experience can break an (admittedly weakend) alicorn's spell.
Izzy has a point, Sprout COULD be lying about his family still owning the building, nobody asked him for proof but just his hearsay
You need to add the 'stupid' counter
I felt the same way about everyone taking over the Factory and Hitch doing absolutely nothing to enforce the law 😭😭
This chapter to me is rewatcheable genuinely and made me want more. Yet the previous chapters didn’t have that oomph. The writing quality improved in chapter 4 significantly imo. But especially the animation.
14:03 Did that lobster just teleport the "sword" from one claw to another?
This is why fanfiction is superior
22:15 I think, maybe from my own imagination trying desperately to connect things, that the mirror is connected to Misty’s amulet in Tell Your Tale? In which case it showed up there and then was disenchanted there.
If you had an interview with some of the people who worked on g5, you would definitely go like 22:51
"Bridlewoodstock Festival" had a few more problems I would say. Izzy mentions the problem from the start, but later it seems like Pipp and the others react like they were hearing it for the first time, which kind of irritated me. They react to something that was already said, way too late. Or maybe I understood something in that episode wrong.
Well misty get her cutimark for transofation what a butterfly actually means.
14:13 calm down there Sideshow Bob
Wasn't he complaining how Misty's magic was able to counteract an Alicorn's magic?
@@KTWhatsup again the magic was in a weak state so it comes to no surprise it was able to be broken.
@@dreezegh I suppose
