My biggest problem with the Unity Crystals is creating them is absolutely not something Twilight would've done, and even if she did consider it the rest of the mane 6 would've shut it down immediately. It also annoys me that the reason the Unity Crystals were created was for something they were able to overcome on a much larger scale before.
I was so frustrated when I realized this was actually cannon and the sequel to Friendship is magic
Maybe the mane 6 weren't around to help her. She would've lived for thousands of years while they lived normal pony lives, she would be all alone eventually.
It's like an angsty fanfic, but what if her friends all passed and without them, without their help and support, she just kinda went bonkers or flew off the rails when things got hard again, now without them. Then in her grief and inability to get new friends because she couldn't ever replace her old ones, she separated every pony. Like a "I'm separated from my friends, and it seems everyone else wants to be separated from theirs, too. They're not appreciating the magic of friendship right in front of them, abusing their magic to hurt others instead of build friendships, they might as well not have any at all." kind of thing.
Or, more kindly and less edgy, "Magic is getting in the way of people's friendship. It's separating ponies already, if I take away magic they should get along again and then they can have it back, but never when theyre fighting." And without the help of her friends to resolve the problem or help her rationalize a plan, she just goes with that idea.
@@pyraffin It would be awesome honestly, I would love that. But unfortunately, that's not what we got. Luster Dawn didn't even make an appearance and it was the time when Little Cheese (Pinkie's daughter) was still a filly. So, not so long after the final episode.

Imagine Twilight explaining to Rainbow Dash that she wouldn't be able to fly anymore once the crystals were separated. I don't think that would have gone over well.
EXACTLY twilight has fixed way more "impossible to fix friendships"!
It just doesn't make sense! And I do get that maybe it was thousands of years later when the other five would've been dead leaving twilight alone to possibly make that decision? But she's smarter than that.. I'm confused now!!

@@Star_Strikehey i know that this is old but i just wanted to point something out, in the show it is established that without the crystals there woudnt be any magic, and in your story the group tells sunny that "magic can stay but the crystals make things worse for everypony" how would magic stay without the crystals if the crystals are the source of the magic. Wouldnt it make more sense for sunny to cast a spell to remove the magic storms instead of breaking the crystals, the magic staying after the crystals destruction wouldnt make sense
@@Solar_dragonzz The idea is that the crystals are only the source of all magic because they _contain_ all magic. If the crystals are destroyed, then all magic would go back to it's original source like we saw at the end of season 8 of FIM (School Raze Part 2)

Honestly can't help but think to the episode where Twilight kept trying to teach Starlight that you can't use Magic to solve all your problems and to set aside differences and see how they make us special.
Then proceeds to throw all of that out the window and try and solve social problems with magic, forcing everyone to never have an opinion or naturally work out their differences without much thought about anything else.
Which is why I wish the unity Crystals weren't created by Twilight, but by one of her successors instead. Twilight was the one preaching through the entirety of G4 that not everyone can be friends, and that friendships *can* and *will* end, and that using magic to fix them won't solve anything.
If those crystals were made by one of her successors there would be one less problem in the G5 lore.

@@crazyhairsinger On the other hand, Twilight is also the one that keep forgetting in every season that magic is not the answer to every problem with her friend have to constantly reminded her that there's more than just a rainbow laser.
@@crazyhairsinger One thing i am gonna say, in the movie we have first hand evidence that the three pony tribe got along very well even after they live in three separate settlement. It's in the underground station in Zephyr Height where you could see various sign welcoming the Earth Ponies from Maretime Bay and Unicorn from Bridlewood. But Zipp the Princess of Zephyr Height found this underground station ruin as weird caused she doesn't remember that all three ponies tribe as being friend in the record of Zephyr Height even though such period do exist in Zephyr Height history right in front if her eyes. It was at this station we see the stained glass that show the connection between the Crystal with Twilight. At the beginning of the movie, we here Sprout say that they learn at school the reason Earth Ponies feared Unicorn and Pegasi is because, "they attacked Maretime Bay to eat the Earth Ponies but Earth Ponies manage to kick their ass in some kind of battle".

I actually wanted to add in an arc for Twilight and try to completely remove the idiot factor by adding more context to her plan, but that would have taken at least another 10 minutes to go over everything. :P

Problem is, the comic established that Opaline was the one that started the division, which shouldn't happen UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES unless you completely ignore that seasons 8 and 9 exist, which you can't. Not to mention the blatant character assassination of Twilight, who had proven herself to be a paragon of friendship and she would NEVER stoop to the level of Season 5 Starlight Glimmer.
The comics are cannon, untill the show retcon them.

What these crystals do remind me of what the kirins did in Sounds of Silence from season 8. Remember how much they argued and their solution was just to shut up possibly for forever instead of talking it out and dealing with their anger a healthy way? It would be interesting if they would take a similar route with it, because that episode had a lesson that never not be relevant.
Oooh! Good point! I totally forgot that the Kirin did basically the exact same thing Twilight did in G5. Amazing how the messaging in MLP took a complete 180.

We are not explained what happened to the rest of the old pony homelands, and it’s effects outside of pony-kind homelands… yet… if they ever do.
But if the next episodes of the series are ever going to explain/catch us up on this, then I will be very interested in this new series!!! Are their other pony lands both new & old in-pain from this outside the 3 new pony settlements?!?! Even lands beyond pony-kind in-pain?!?!
Just like the kirins suffered in G4, just what if the rest of Equestia is now suffering like them?!?!… I want this adventure played out as if our new main 5 is on a quest to fix this serious new problem all across Equestria once the now this!!! !!!!🚨😭❤️🩹🤯

This is why I don’t trust “fate & destiny” alone. It’s one thing to acknowledge it’s what gotten/has us as we exist… but not agreeing with others outside yourself about how it should flow, that is like taking away their “free-will” or “part of their soul/spirit” that makes them unique & different!!!… I love those parts of us that make us unique & different, even if it means sacrificing part of your own power to control your own destiny so they can have the freedom “shared”!!!(Some call this agreeing to disagree, but with love not war, in old times)…
Also, fate & destiny does not make what’s wrong right or justify what’s wrong.(even though “some of us” are eventually faced with the choice to choose the lesser of 2 evils)… their is still going to be a mess to clean up & not everyone has the skill or time to make 3rd 4th or 5th option… But eventually everyone can & does need to admit this openly by another message or with friends “in an apology & ask for help with the new situation you or they created”!!!
I’m sure many people have faceed this “bite back in the face” before when fate & destiny was not enough to trust.
But how do you surpass both before or after? Perhaps spiritually? I think that is the answer!
For example: say you find someone, any creature that’s like a child, in a world it was never born in like “a living time-paradox” but in the flesh & can live a full happy life with no consequences on time! which is the right choice?
A: think it or your life is useless in a world it was never born?
Or
B: all life is sacred on both ends & every life & spirit is sacred regardless on both ends & deserves to live!
My answer is clearly Choice B!!!… Because nobody I know says no to living in the beginning! Because I don’t believe suicide is natural, it is a lie, a lie you reject on everything once you know the true priceless value of life!!!
Maybe the reason twilight is her pre-finale look is because she experienced the same thing as luna in season 1 ; She used up all her power so her form reverted to normal. She may have used all her magic to store magic away in the crystals.

Or the crystals is The Tree of Harmony but holographic, given how she is the princess of friendship and even harmony itself, why else would the tree have taken her form, and not Starswirl? Whom. with the help from his friends, planted a seed and put some of their magic in it, the same way Twilight made those crystals, at the end of G4, even with the tree gone, it was inside of Twilight
I really hope that the dark and evil "Unite or die" crystals are because your reasoning, and not twilight. Because I always thought from the beggining that the PRINCESS OF FRIENDSHIP should Never FORCE anyone to be friends with the threat of evil portals and death over their heads!
Another idea that I think is more likely is that the storms were an unintended consequence of the crystals. Perhaps Twilight never meant to put anypony in danger.
Whatever the case, I hope that by the end of it Twilight doesn't end up being a crazy dictator and failure of a princess. That's not the ending we want.

So not only was the Princess of Friendship unable to deal with one pony skulking around spouting racist propaganda, she thought the only way to protect the crystals from Opaline was to isolate Equestria from the planet at large. Yeah...
Reminder removing magic means she basically just did what that crazy filly wanted. You know the one she turned to stone for her plans? After sending her to Tartarus? Ya that one.

This reminds me also of the Sounds of Silence episode where the kirin leader decided "arguing is not allowed" and enforced this through her authority. And then we're literally told it wasn't a good solution and there's a better way.

i would love a story like this, but unfortunately, i don't think the writers know what they're doing enough to pull something like this off
My theory, based on the g5 comics:
Twilight ruled over Equestria, everything was just like when g4 ended. Suddenly, Opaline - a mysterious alicorn - appeared and used her unknown and dangerous magic to make ponies argue. Everything started to become different, ponies didn't trust each other, argued. Big danger came to Equestria. Twilight wanted this to end - she wanted to capture Opalines magic, so she wouldn't hurt anyone anymore. Twilight decided to take all of the magic of Equestria, and place it in the crystals. But that wasn't a good idea - Opaline was gone for a long time, but her magic infected the crystals. Soon, the crystals were seperated - three pony kinds found their place to live. I'm not sure how, but every kind got the crystal representing them (for example queen Heaven had the pegasus crystal). They remembered something and some ponies were meeting each other, but then they forgot about what happened and stopped meeting. We know that mane 5 changed everything and made the magic come back, but that also made Opaline come back. She wants her powers back, and now is trying to get the crystals so she can get it.
And what I meant by saying that Opalines magic infected crystals is that when her power was captured, it made the crystals glitch. Whenever a ponies are arguing, or sad, the crystals start to glitch and make everything dangerous. It's like Opalines power, but different, inverted.
I know it's messed up but that's my theory!!

@@ronaldpagar6513 maybe they tried but failed, and when she lost her powers she decided to hide and wait for a better moment. And about the other creatures - I'm not sure. This is what is not, but should be solved soon, they wouldn't just dissapear! I believe that maybe they also found their lands, just like ponies did
Makes sense to me.
So that would make Opaline's story very similar to Starlight Glimmer's. It could be interesting, but I fear it would require too much exposition to explain everything, and a lot of people would be upset if the comics became canon. Either way, I do hope they get rid of these crystals somehow. I'm pretty sure they're the worst plot device the MLP franchise ever came up with.
I think that the exposition wouldn't be that bad so long as it was stretched out over the course of the show. They just need to make sure that they start answering questions, rather than just creating them.

Basically it feels like the crystals are a literal cop out. Instead of putting in the effort to become better people/person and growing from the confrontation. I don’t think Twili made the crystals, when I think of crystals I think of Cadance or Flurry Heart. 👀
Sadly the odds of Hasbro doing this level of sophisticated storywriting for a show that they admit is now aimed at the pre-school demographic are about as likely as G5 being a worthy successor to G4 under ANY circumstances.

When Cozy Glow drained magic from equestria, Celestia said "when the sun sets on the third day magic will be lost forever" this can't happen because without the magic lost in previous days the sun can't set. Even through this it does and everyone is worried. They have no reason to be so scared of the sun setting on the third day if it can't do that!
I don't think she removed all magic, as cutie marks exist n stuff. I think she only removed ponies magic, and kept natural magic that's in nature.
The problem is in the movie, it's in the movie that the three ponies tribe were being told to get along. In Make Your Mark Special, the Pegasus and Unicorn magically get along very well the other pony races. It's the Earth Ponies that unhappy that they have no magic while the other two have it when previously they'll be equally non-magic, now it's not the same. In the special, the Crystal of Unity solution is to create chaos and if they help each other, then the Crystal will end this chaos and Earth Ponies will be granted their very own magic.
Crystals being able to make decisions and said decisions being like this one makes them even more evil. First they grant magic to all ponies when some of them stop being racist. Then when they start fight (what a surprise!) they create a disaster. And only after everypony learning that crystals will now destroy everything if ponis continue to fight they give earth ponies their magic the lack of which caused the fighting.
What if Opaline was the one that got reformed and Misty was still evil?
I kind of like the idea of Misty to stay evil instead of getting reformed in this episode. Reformation can come later for her.

These crystals are the exact reason why I called the Crystal Empire a gilded cage death trap! Yes, the Empire is pretty, but the Crystal Heart was powered by and tooo reliant on the positivity of its rulers and citizens. Just one bad day from either Cadence, Flurry, or the entire Empire could kill them all. Flurry's cries shattered the heart, in the comics the Heart dimmed because Cadence felt like a useless 'Pretty Princess' than an actual person, and when the Empire lost its luster due to Sombra, the Empire was exposed to the deadly cold. The current crystals are also too dependent upon positive energy and nearly destroyed Maretown Bay. I would not be surprised if Twilight created these crystals based off of the Crystal Heart, flaws and all.
That is a very interesting take on the crystal heart! I haven't read the comics, and have not thought about the heart that way before. Definitely an interesting topic.
@@Star_Strike Yvw, Love is fickle but I draw the line at a MacGuffin that can end my existence just because of one person's thoughts and emotions on a specific day. Another series that had a similar plot was an anime called Rayearth. Like the Crystal Heart, Rayearth had ‘The Pillar System’. A person who becomes a ‘Pillar’ is forced to think about the happiness and well-being of their world, Cephiro and Cephiro alone. Should the ‘Pillar become corrupt’, as in thinking of their own individual happiness, the whole world becomes filled with monsters and basically falls apart! Most of the series is on youtube if you would like to see it.
My theory as a person who loves g4 better than g5:
(Backstory)
Everything was going smoothly, twilight was ruling equestria everything was fine. Suddenly luster dawn being her immature self found new friends (at the end of season 9) anyway so one of her new friends was opaline, and I believe that opaline would be a Pegasus. Twilight and luster showed opaline around (opaline probs an orphan no idea she was traveling around to find her parents but hope was lost and she cam across luster dawn who decided to give her family and friendship…
Now that opaline was shown how beautiful magic was and how powerful it was she instantly felt a powerful connection wanted it all. But she couldn’t because she was just a Pegasus and didn’t really have any magic. Thus she starts creating disputes on twilights name. Like how chrysalis, tirek, cozy spread rumors she did the same except that she was special cause she was known as “twilights student and lusters friend” so she was respected and whatever she said caused disputes between the pony tribes.
Luster noticed the pony disputes and saw that opaline wasn’t true to her friends and power. As luster tried to inform twilight she didn’t believe so as opaline already prepared a story. Luster being disregarded, twilight noticed opalines actions different. But she thought It was a positive cause.
Soon enough just with lies, twilight turned opaline into an alicorn exactly as opaline planned everything would be. Luster was disregarded everytime. Soon windigos started appear all due to opaline. Twilight noticed this and opaline started to take advantage of her powers. Opaline took magic from other ponies, weakened them and destroying land as she has magic being an alicorn.
Twilight fought opaline. At this point opaline was power hungry. Twilight summoned the most powerful beings of equestria (her friends and stuff) but they were gone in defeat as her power was almost equal to twilights and no one was powerful as twilight. Soon opaline defeated them all to death and twilight lost hope. She battled her one on one and since there was no friendship there was no hope and power in twilight. Twilight flees the battle from opaline and makes a decision. She makes the crystals possible knowing that even if she sacrificed herself it would be the best for equestria. She created the crystals by sucking up all the magic from equestria including whatever opaline had, (opaline managed to keep some of her magic ig). The extreme power usage was taking up all of twilights strength. Knowing she would be sacrificed she went ahead and left a note to luster who was alive in the battle ground. Twilight being sacrificed and gone, luster saw the crystals, read the note, and immediately ran for her life and took the crystals.
But she bumped into opaline. Being a unicorn with some powerful strength she sucked some magic from the crystals and teleported and threw the crystals into the random places, as we know them today bridle wood, zephyr heights, martime bay. Opaline soon found her and took her life and magic. But the magic somehow was take back by the crystals.
Opaline deciding to use the bit of her magic to make that castle for herself. Lost it all. Meanwhile people of equestria powerless and having disputes split as three tribes were the crystals where located.
And that was how g5 was created. 😭
While I don't agree with the parts of your story about characters dying in a battle, it is a decent backstory for Opaline.

Remember at the very end of the season? When the mane 6 went to the crystal empire to meet up with Twilight who was rumbling about the plan for her to save her friends? And as the mane 6 ask for her guidance....she has completely lost all hope? Saying that everything they did to protect Equestria didn't matter? Sombra? Discord? Tirek? Chrysalis? Cozy Glow? How no pony could see just how much harmony means... everything? How she was willing to give up completely because of how ignorant every other creature was? That's what I think went through her again....no pony was ever going to set aside their differences....and I think... judging by how rapidly the mane 6 grow old while she remains immortal? She probably didn't get any logic support on what to do with all the disharmony happening in Equestria....and let's not forget the many times ponies have just been racially profiling not only their own species but others like Griffons?Dragons? What if Twilight thought this was her last straw and that if they wanted to keep magic? They'd need to learn to get along the hard way.....as her way didn't work she probably had enough. Hence why I think that she figured that even though this was cruel....she had faith on whoever pony could figure out a way to make things right. In conclusion to all this... I think...she is still alive, and it's only a matter of time before we'll probably see her through episodes along the way.
Good theory but Lauren Faust herself said Twilight wasn’t immortal like Celestia and Luna. So everything started collapsing _during_ her reign and finally collapsed altogether when she was no longer around, meaning everything went to crap over a single lifetime ... damn Celestia deserves her rump kicked for this, because even though her reign wasn’t perfect at least the three Tribes weren’t being racist to each other anymore!

Weren't the three tribes in a war during her reign? I think that is the story behind Hearth's Warmings Eve. Three tribes at war for their differences. Pinkie Pie played the chocolate earth pony leader in the play? I think that's how it went.

I honestly love the idea you have. It makes Opaline much more complex and not a cartoonish villain, sets up a character arc for Sunny, and would make Misty working with Opaline a little more sense if Opaline is actually nicer to her, almost motherly.
As much as I'm willing to keep an open mind about G5, since plenty of shows that started our mediocre or bad got good as time went on, two problem I can't ignore is it being a "be happy and nice or bad things will happen" lesson. We've seen it before and it really angers me. My feelings are my own to feel as long as I'm still controlling myself and not hurting anyone. Why do I need to just shut up and only be positive? Cause it's convenient for everyone else? Csuse then I can focus on their problems? No f*ck that! The only time I've seen this concept of "just be happy and nice" work is in Inside Out, and that movie was all about how toxic positivity is bad for you. The second problem is what this show does to Hitch. Why was he a more confident and competent character in the movie... when he was racist for most of it? Just because he has Fluttershy's abilities and male doesn't mean you have ti give him Fluttershy's flaws and also make him dumb.

Twi's decision is like a mix between Cozy Glow's plan and Starlight's village...
I'm accepting this show as an alternate reality. I'm not accepting it as lining up with G4 XD
The thing I loved most about FIM is that when there was clear conflict, it was solved properly. Like you would do in real life, with the stages of explanation/expression of feelings, apologies and moving on. like twilight said herself when she and the others defeated Discord; “Friednship isn’t always easy but there’s no doubt it’s worth fighting for.” This quote is portrayed throughout the show as the mane 6 face issues that at first they wanted to just let it ruin their friendships but they realised that friends can argue and fight, they WILL argue and fight. This isn’t really portrayed in G5, The MYM series especially. instead like you mentioned in the video they kinda just said QUICK WE NEED TO STOP FIGHTING BEFORE IT DESTROYS THE PLANET instead of taking the time to talk out their problems. Overall I think that FIM was more educational when it came to friendship and how it works, how you should treat your friends and how it’s okay to argue with your friends because ultimately it brings you closer together.

My theory is Opaline plans to unentangle the crystals from magic making sure it never shuts magic off even though the ponies have disagreements.
Making those friendship Crystal was probably not a good idea, because this magic is unpredictable if some ponies have argument a dark black hole will appear or if Opulean get it something tells me, she'll create giant void monster by accident. I guess Twilight over analyzed everything, when the ponies started fighting again and I think and when a Pony war broke out, I think Twilight just gave up on pony kind and just left for 100s of years ago. She did these because I think her friends die of old age, leaving her most only where she, then whet a little crazy with out her friends. She Also, probably seal everyone's magic into the Friendship Crystal, but I think when she did this it might've cause Dragons and other magical creates to disappear by accident. And she could've sealed her self as punishment.
I think it would have been an interesting idea to have Twilight have sealed herself! Maybe it will be a similar thing to when Twilight brought Starswirl out of limbo. Maybe Sunny and her friends will somehow free her, and then she will finally see the destruction she caused and will try to reverse the damage.

This was originally going to be on my list of reasons as to why G5 is doomed to fail, but I had too much to say on it, so it became it's own video.
I'm hoping the crystals eventually get Shattered when magic grows powerful enough for ponies to maintain it on their own.
The magic glitches and voids could be explained because only our mane 5 were maintaining the magic. Everyone else wasn't yet on board with being nice with others.
I don't agree with the role of the crystals. But they do still make for good mystery and story. But that story is only one sided in favor of "What happened in G4?"

Honestly its a good story but the way I see it the crystles in the make your mark speical where still un stable witch is why there were storms at the smallest fight and all the ponies had to come together to stablize them and unlock there true power.

I think rather than a trope where Opaline is manipulating her and pretending to be her friend, it would be far more interesting if Opaline genuinely cared about Misty and vise versa.
Maybe she still sees herself as above Misty, but they are true friends. It would make Misty's betrayal of Opaline hit a lot harder.
I'm gonna be so disappointed when the writers of the show don't come up with anything like this. Literally everything that's happened in G5 has been more disappointing to me every time something new comes out >.>
Why
Does anybody remember how there was an episode in either season 7 or 8 about the Kirirn, where they used a pool of silence or something to give up their voices because of how it allowed people to fight when they had them, and it would cause destruction, and the resolution was fluttershy and applejack teaching the kirin that you had to learn how to control your emotions or handle them or release them in a safer manner rather than get rid of them completely? These crystals are like the same situation, which makes it harder to believe that Twilight made them.

I like this idea for the new make your mark special, I hope it follows a story similar to this or better. My hopes for this generation being good are low and I see way to many moments in equestrian history repeat. I hope misty is more a background character rather than a sunset shimmer waiting to happen. My view is still open to change if the show takes a different path than what it's on now and I really hope this next chapter will get better as it goes on.🦄🐴💎

I thought this was a pretty good idea and definitely gave us a through line on how to progress the story and personal conflict between the main character and main villian (which we never really got since they always did that villian stuff through misty making it overall weaker)
The fact that it took you this long to figure out that the Magic Crystals are terrible is the most shocking thing of this review.
I already figured it out long ago when the movie came out because it forces conformity and prevents conflict of every form: including Verbal conflicts like simple disagreements and arguments which while is considered to be rude in certain circles of thought, one must remember that it is through Arguments that it is an essential element for Discussion, Conversation, and ultimately Change and Evolution of societal norms.
To those who are fans of _Star Trek,_ I would like to point towards the Tellarites: a verbose and conflictive species that always begins every single conversation with an open insult. The greatest wars that Tellarites fought in were not about resources or territories, but viewpoints and ideals, and because of their verbal nature many of these early conflicts were quickly resolved and led to the Tellarites adopting a policy of viewing every possible viewpoint in a conflict or debate. To a Tellarite, not responding to a viewpoint with a verbal counterpoint is considered entirely rude in their culture as it symbolizes close-mindedness.
But beyond that, it also limits the world that Sunny Starscout and her friends could explore in due to how the Crystals have essentially imprisoned the story to be around Maretime Bay instead of an open world adventure that G4 was popular for due to the vast landscapes and locations that the Mane Six could travel to and visit instead of being cooped up in Ponyville 24/7. The story is literally held hostage by the very MacGuffin responsible for G5s' story to exist in the first place; by making them just as important if not more-so than the main characters are.
Had they gone with a Sauron and the one ring type of story, I'm sure I would have been more invested. Imagine opaline needing to steal them not for the power they can grant her, but the fact that the crystals are bound to her life. Destroying them kills her, making her either a villain, or a victim.
This was absolutely amazing. Wow. How are you not hired to be honest.

Why the Unity Crystals was a stupid plan:
Opaline made all the ponies hate each other, and they just fell for it, and did so. To make sure magic never pitted unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies against one another, Twilight gathered all the world's magic and placed it in three crystals. As long as these crystals were protected, and all ponykind lived in harmony, magic would be kept alive and well in Equestria.
While that work for a while, I feel Twilight would’ve realized it wouldn’t work in the long run. Also, I feel during this time before destroying the crystals, and making magic the way it was before, the mane 6 should’ve found a way to expose Opaline. Twilight can record things with her magic, and show things and playback them as images. She can use a spell to record things and playback them as images. I also find it hard to believe that ponies would believe a pony they barely know into hating each other.
The story you were making up sounded much better and I wanna watch it if someone animated it.

I honestly feel like this could be a really amazing story! I have no idea what Opaline has planned, but I feel like a story like this would make the most sense. If it does turn out this way, it could not only be a great story, but a great moral for kids to learn, which is the intended audience after all.
I think it would be cool to have a "villain" with the goal of getting rid of magic not only bc of the class problem and that unicorns will always have higher status bc of their magic but also to protect the world bc almost all villain who caused destroction had magic. What if a enemy used magic to destroy the world and the rest of the world didn`t had the power to bet him. Getting rid of magic would be safer for everyone and the ponies lived without magic with basicly no problems (exept boredom).
One day everyone is going to go "hey, remember when my little pony ripped off 1984?", and that saddens me

These are some beautiful thoughts about unity with freedom. I hope more people realize that force and authority will never bring about true unity but will unite everyone in misery, with the exception of the elite leadership.
I think Opaline has gone crazy for living all those years well maybe 1000 years and she outlived all her servants and maybe allies or friends so she has a soft spot for Misty but also shows rage towards her for all those years she spend alone and wants full control so she wont leave also. But I hope we get a backstory of Opaline. I think she has a very bad past,maybe she was born an alicorn like Flurry Heart or maybe its Flurry's sister?
I’ve been so annoyed with the Crystals ever since they showed up at the end of the movie. Literally, having the ponies lose their magic from being at odds with each other happened at the end of season 9 with Tirek, Cozy Glow, and Crysalis- and NOWHERE did Twilight think to say “Hey let’s essentially pull the plug on magic incase any pony fights.” So when this random deviantart oc Alicorn tries THE SAME EXACT THING- then Twilight puts all of Equestria in timeout-? Leave them to spread rumors about one another and live separately without magic? Are we sure this is the same Twilight Sparkle we know-? Cuz it doesn’t sound like her.

Hmm, I like your idea and it also gives me an idea as to how to incorporate the Unity Crystals into the concept for a multi-Gen MLP film, plus an ulterior hidden motive, another 'darker' reason as to why Twilight had to create them, In my story idea there's this incredibly powerful ancient villain called Mara Dreamdancer (who was once herself a Pony but had become mutated by dark magic and turned into the malevolentolent and manipulative, mind-controlling villain the Pony World had ever known), she's kind of a cross between Skeletor and Mumm-Ra except for she sort of resembles an Alicorn, (except she is not actually one and hates them wisinisterester passion). Anyway, after some research into long forgotten history from before the known timeline Twilight somehow suspects the close return of some previously unknown enemy is somehow returning to their world after this villain had been sealed away for over 4000 years and realised a horrifying truth, almost all the villains and antagonists had been manipulated, most of all the accidents and bad decisions were orchestrated by this one arch-villain, Twilight then figures out why this secret villain has been doing this... Mara is collecting all the dark magic that has been created by all this so that she can escape her nightmare dimension/prison...
What makes this even worse is pegasi need magic to fly. Must have been a bad day for them

I personally would change thr creator of the crystals, i would do it more like "they found an old castle, they entered the main hall and saw the history written on colorfull windows. There was one that cauth their atention. On it was a creature that they never seen and main 6. It looked like the creature created the crystals not twilight."
And then they found a book where someone like idk maybe starlight wrote that the main 6 tried destroing the crystals and insted they banished the creator AND themselfs because of combinating their magic with the creatures magic. And as the story was told for generations it has changed.

I like to think that opalines tried to take the crystal with all the magic after twilight stored it all away all pony's Rance's and other races stopped seeing each other many have forgotten friendship with other pony's but the mane 6 where never forgotten for what they have done
