  • Cut out any word cuts you want or need for your handmade cards or paper crafts. Use a Cricut machine to make almost any sentiment to decorate a project.
An electronic cutting machine such as a Cricut Explore or a Silhouette Cameo can make open up a lot of possibilities for cutting designs and words.
With some some tips and techniques, you can use your machine to cut custom files to personalize your paper projects. I like using my Cricut to create custom word cuts.
The machine can be used to cut out small or large fonts, cursive or non-cursive fonts, letters or entire words. I show you a few of these crafting techniques in the video.

Love the idea of using the left over negative paper to lay down the positive letters on the project with perfect spacing! Never too old to learn.

Great video! On the circle with the words Happy Birthday around the circle, after you “welded it” you could then place your smaller circle inside, center it and then use the “slice” feature and it will also cut out the center of the black circle, leaving a frame. Love your videos, thank you for sharing your creativity. Learned some great tips in this one.

That is what I've learned to do, as well. Also, I recently discovered that some techies have made SVG files for purchase that mimic the "stitched" die effect, including A2 card files. I've seen regular stitch patterns and cross-stitch.

I honestly forget how incredibly useful and FUN the Cricut machines are. Especially for Sentiments. I hadn't thought of more than half of the techniques you shared in this video. You have not only reminded me, but INSPIRED ME to break it out to get to it. I have spent way too much on Sentiment metal cutting dies, BUT I think it ends now. Thank you so so much for sharing these tips, ideas & tricks with us and especially the INSPIRATION!!! Arlene :)

Great video, not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but if you use FontLab Pad, it is free and is available on both windows and Apple platforms, it gives you loads more fonts to use and it automatically welds or space the letters for you, it is a great piece of software, and the great thing is, you can save your design as a svg, which means you can import straight in the your Cricut design space. Hope this helps a few of you.

With the HBD around the circle you could have used the Slice function. You put the smaller circle over the bigger one, select both and choose slice. Take out the sliced shape, you will get a frame. This is a good technique to use if you want to make stencils too.

    • @ItsMeJD
      @ItsMeJD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Yes but **** there's not an "easy" way to do it. It involves a lot of steps and workarounds. Basically you need a separate scanner, then software to edit your image, then you can cut it with cricut. A brother scan and cut machine works much better for that purpose.

I wish I knew, I have the same problem. Cricut needs more writing fonts!

You can download fonts online for free and install them on your computer. After that you can use them in design space. Just google free font...

HI, I'm cutting words out with the cricut maker, I'm using 110 lb cardstock, the fine point blade on "more", selecting 100 lb cardstock because I don't see an option for 110. It's not cutting through, any thoughts to help me? Thx. JIll

How do you get that tiny font to cut out so perfectly.?

For the HBD card, what size paper did you put in? I used 4.25 x 5.5 and it’s not cutting it right

Maybe my HBD is too large for the card? I made them 3.769 x 1.477

Will this work for intricate stamps for which I don’t have the dies? Is there a way to scan the stamped image and cut it out?

Hi Divya I recommend looking into the stamp company angel policy regarding digital cuts.
If you have permission you can scan them into your computer and upload them into cricut design space.

Hello!! Is there a way to create the shadows for these words we make? Not just the outline of the words that's a bit larger than the words themselves, but more like clouds that go behind the words that have higher parts where letters with tops rise and lower parts where letters with tails dip? (I can't think of how else to describe the shadows I'm thinking of!! 🤣)

There is a way to do that - i was hoping JD would touch on that. You use "off set" but i haven't quite got the technique down for it. I'm hoping someone has a video that spells it out. I think looking at some videos for stickers would help with this technique - just haven't had the time to put it all together yet.

Just a little tip, if you attach first, you won't have to color sync. 😉
