  • The President's private bedroom in the White House is an enigmatic space of great historical importance and personalization. Situated in the southwest corner of the White House's second floor, adjacent to the Yellow Oval Room, this bedroom serves as a private retreat and workspace for the Commander-in-Chief. Traditionally furnished and decorated according to the President's preferences, it often includes a sitting area for relaxation and a private bathroom with top-notch security features. This room has witnessed a multitude of historic events, including President Franklin D. Roosevelt's famous "Day of Infamy" speech. It is not just a bedroom but a microcosm of power, tradition, and mystery, embodying the essence of the American presidency.

It looks a lot like the inside of the private apartments in Kensington Palace.

FDR *did not* address the nation from his bedroom in his "day of infamy" speech. That was delivered at the Capitol during a joint session of Congress. 🤷‍♂️

The bedroom picture shown with Lincoln was actually Thomas Jefferson’s at Monticello.

I have absolutely no idea. I've never been in The Ehite House before, nor have I been in Washington, DC since 2004.

They show you everything except the bedroom. And no, the Presidents bedroom is not next to the Lincoln bedroom. They are at opposite ends of the second floor.

Technically it is whichever room he picks, but yes, it's the 2nd room from the sw corner.

You didn't show it, just other rooms. What a jip.

No way the President ever uses this room - he undoubtedly sleeps over 100 feet underground, more than 1,000 horizontal feet removed.

Is the private bedroom different than the president’s public bedroom?

They mostly showed everything BUT the bedroom in the southwest corner. This is where MOST presidents slept with their wives except for Nixon, JFK, LBJ, and Trump. Trump slept there but (rumor has it) Melanie mostly stayed either in a bedroom on the 3rd floor or at her parents house in southern MD. Nixon and JFK slept in the room adjoining the southwest bedroom - you can google photos of JFK and LBJ in this bedroom. Carter, Ford, Reagan, Biden, Bush, and Bush Sr. all slept with their wives in the southwest bedroom - when they did, the adjoining room (where Nixon, JFK, LBJ slept) was used as a sitting room or private office. There is actually a smaller room (with windows facing the west) on the other side of the southwest bedroom that First Ladies used as a makeup/dressing room - you can google Jackie Kennedy's use of this room.

Actually, Gerald and Betty Ford were the first presidential couple to sleep in the same room. All presidents previously slept in the room next to where their wives slept. I know JFK slept in the adjoining room that is now a sitting room and gave Jackie the main room. Lincoln slept in the main bedroom and his wife had the adjoining room.

So much in this video was just plain WRONG.
The President's bedroom does NOT adjoin the Lincoln bedroom. The Presidential suite is in the SW corner of the White House. The Lincoln bedroom is in the SE corner.
Roosevelt most assuredly did NOT deliver his "day of infamy" speech from his bedroom. In fact, it was not delivered from the White House at all. Roosevelt delivered this famous speech in the US Capitol.

The Lincoln Bedroom is NEAR the SE corner but there is another room actually in the SE corner. The Lincoln Bedroom actually was his office and the room in the SE corner was used by Lincoln's two secretaries (John Hay and John Nicolay) as their office. Nixon used this SE office as his relaxation room where he would have the fireplace aglow even in summer - and made the staff turn up the AC even on hot summer days so he could enjoy the fire.

Yea because Trump is a shining example of cognitive coherence. He ran against Obama. Jeb Bush got us into Iraq and Joe Biden will get us into WW2. Oh let’s not forget the red coats taking over the airports and flushing the body with bleach. At least Joe Biden has an excuse, he has a stutter. What’s Trumps excuse?
