- On Monday 13th July 2015 I took a journey on an InterCity 225 along the 393-mile long East Coast Mainline from Edinburgh Waverley to London King's Cross.
Here is a video montage of the journey onboard 1E17, the 13:30 Virgin Trains East Coast service from Edinburgh to London King's Cross, propelled by Class 91 electric locomotive no. 91108, and lead by Driving Van Trailer (DVT) no. 82209.
I love that we can hear the cooling fans.
Fantastic journey

I live on the WCML but Ths is definitely worth the journey and extra price and journey time just to travel on these beauties! Nicely done video!
+James Connor thank you :) glad you enjoyed
Lovely video, enjoyed it lots, done this journey a few times myself, one small disappointment was on leaving Newcastle you were on the wrong side only viewing the Redheugh Bridge and not the Tyne Bridge view

The first 10 minutes isn't England...

Michael Scott Thankyou :)

whats the cost of a return ticket ?
It varies depending on when you book, and the type of ticket you have.
It's best to book a couple of months in advance, then you get the cheapest fares.
about £230
It's about £40 for a single adult, cheaper if you pay in advance
+Charlie Satchwell Everything is easier and cheaper if you pay in advance
Cheapest would be £50 return in standard but cheapest first class return would be £115. This is for if you travelling by yourself. (1 adult)
Nice, contemplating whether it's worth paying for 1st class?
+Geordi La Forge Yeah if you book in advance you get cheaper fares, First class is great on Virgin Trains East Coast but can be pricey
ECMLexpress I tried first class out a week ago london->edinburgh, comfortable but the included food was a choice between salad, sandwich or fish cake on the weekday evening return - expected more hot options..
***** That's funny as I had the fishcake too, it wasn't bad but I was in the mood for something more filling! Thanks for sharing your experiences.
@@GeordiLaForgery I wonder why they couldn't offer a good quality Spaghetti Bolognese or Chilli con Carne with rice...…both of these can be precooked and would go down very well with a large glass of wine.
Did You Have Anything To Eat Or Drink
There was a trolley service
All those empty seats and all i can see is his reflection, and u missed the East Coast Sea..
These older trains are better than the new azumas but LNER are better than virgin or East coast were
