  • Follow along as we help you replace your brake pads. This tutorial will be helpful for most adult electric scooters that have disk brakes. Brake pad replacement is a common repair job that is simple and requires only a few common tools.
    There are a number of reasons to replace brake pads on electric scooters. Brake pad material will wear over time and should be replaced before the pad material is completely worn off. Another reasons to replace or clean your pads is due to contaminants like dirt or oil getting on the pad material making the brakes less effective.

    Thanks for the video!
    I just followed the steps and it worked out fine :)
    But I might have missed it if you mentioned this but you might have to push in the brake pistons either do it before or after you have changed the pads. As in my case when I had changed the pads were almost totally closed so the caliper couldn't be fitted due the brake disk didn't fit between the pads. So I took a flat screw driver and pushed it in gently between the pads and pushed the piston in to make enough space between the pads for the disk to fit.

      Great question! As of now I believe the only brake pads they offer are the ones we sell

    If I have no room for caliper adjustment does this mean I need to bleed my system in order to get out excessive air to make more room for pads? Because I changed pads but there is no room for adjustment, pads just scratching the disk from both sides.

    i found for best calibrating brake pad placement is slightly push brake lever, fix lever with the tape and then tighten screws

    Thanks for the video, one thing a cotter key (pin) is a one time use item. That's because each time it's bent it gets weak eventually the bent portion will break.

    why go through the nonsense of manually trying to line up the caliper if leaving it loose, squeezing the brake, and then tightening seems to work much better. why not just do that from the start?

    • @RevRides360
      @RevRides360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a great option if your rotor is scraping continuously. Otherwise you will want to adjust the rotor itself.

    Hi, i have a scooter that has a closed brake system, the rear brake is no longer working, and the front brake is squishy. I messaged the company for what size brake pads i need, and the told me i cant change the pads, that i have to spend 100s of dollars and buy two completely new brakes from them. That doesseem right to me, do you have any knowledge regarding this? Thanks. Oh, and i have completely disabled the eletronic brakes in p settings, will i still have to use brake fluid?

    The thing about these types of scooters is that you can't find brake pads for the dual motor scooter you buy on ebay. Only some name brand scooters the brake pads are available for. So if you buy a non branded dual motor scooter on ebay or other sites have fun trying to find replacement brake pads for them because they're not all the same fitment when it comes to brake pads

      Try applying heat with a heat gun or small toes h but keep it moving as to not over heat any parts. Also use bigger Allen key for more leverage. Hope that was helpful!

      Pulling them out to check every once and while is a good idea. They need to be replaced when the is little to no more pad on the brakes.

    • @milordas

      you will notice your brake lever reaching handlebar(or almost) when pressed at full stop force. Then you need to replace them. Ofc it could be bleeding problems, but if no oil leaking and bleeded right it should be the right decision. Actualy its happen every 1000-500km, depends how you use your brakes

    • @sebulbathx
      @sebulbathx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@milordas Exactly. My lever for my rear brake goes almost to the bottom which it didn't when new. And after inspection the pads were worn out.
      So that is a good indicator if your brakes felt fine from the start.
