I have been struggling with this issue for years and it REALLY makes me mad. Gotta keep the wrist detection off at all times. No sleep data. Annoying AF. Happy to find someone who relates to it because when I asked Apple about it they pretended like they had no idea it was an issue.
It sucks. I totally understand. For me it is hit or miss sometimes.

I know right, it’s literally been an issue that people have complained about since the first apple watch almost ten years ago. I feel like it needs to effect one of the high up at apple and it will get fixed.

I have had this problem with Apple Watch since the 5th and they have not been able to change that system. It really is something very annoying. Every time I update it I think it will be better and we have already reached ultra 2 and it is still the same 😡!!! Thank you very much for your video bro! 1- for a bether heart reading, everybody should put is watch above the wrist bone. 2- no watch heart rate sensor work with tattoo.

I have 2 blackout sleeves and have to turn off wrist detection before I go running on the Ultra 2. I can use the HR feature and ECG but all the other features do not work including gestures. Pain in the backside so I use the Garmin HR+ with the watch.
I gave up on it and switched to Garmin Epix.

I didn’t know this was a thing until I upgraded my gen 1 SE for a series 9. I disabled the autolock but that totally removes your wallet from the watch. I have the epoxy stickers and so far they work but after a while it makes my wrist hurt with the added bulk in a small area. It also doesn’t charge with the sticker on it. Too thick I’m guessing. Frustrating to say the least.
I really hope they fix this I’ve had an Apple Watch since two and it’s always been a pain. I’m geting my other arm tattooed soon as well and I’m thinking of keeping a space clear for the sensor. Hopefully they fix it soon 🤞

Well I got to see this vdo a little 2 late so now the time to return my Ultra 2 is out. Funny Apple themself not think this is a problem. Strange enough Garmin Fenix 6X work very good. The sensors are placed more together in center and not need that much tattoo free skin. Go buy Garmin and charge only once a month too.

Same problem here. I paid for the app Autosleep to monitor my sleep and I stopped using it because of the heart sense didn´t work and didn´t give info to the app... That´s hilarious

I’m heavily tatted and I had this issue from series 6 up to the ultra. The only Apple Watch that’s works without an issue is the SE Gen 1 and Gen 2.
Use epoxy sticker.
I didn’t know this was a problem until I got a sleeve. Now I gotta wear the watch on my other wrist.

Why would you have a lock code on your watch to begin with? Also would this theory not apply to darker skinned people too?
lock code enables many features i need which are going to be disabled when lock code if off. I don’t think it matters on the skin complexion only the ink since it blocks the sensor.

no because the ink goes under the skin which is what interferes with the skin. A dark skinned person with no tattoos wouldn't have this issue, but one who does have tattoos will have this issue.
