OH.. so sorry Mr Metronome with perfect Pitch it was completely unlistenable was it ? LMFAO.. idiot AND.. if i may ask, as you a Professional Musician or composer or in any way professionally associated with the music industry
Just saw Metallica in Buffalo for the first time live. Hetfield made a statement about suicide mid song at the transition point. Told the audience it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem - he said, someone loves you. We love you. Ive loved this band since the first time I heard them but I have a profound respect for Hetfield now. He's a great person as well as great musician.
@@u.s.m.c.fewproudthemarines2987 brother, I don't know who you are but hope you're still here and things got better. Know that a metalhead here is wishing you the best. Tomorrow is always a new day.
I love the fact that during a song about suicide they take the time to stop and mention “are you alive? how does it feel to be alive?”pretty responsible.
This song is not about suicide, but about making it and beeing alive after all problems accuring in your life. One should not give up. "Missing one inside of me" but still living. Let the dead part of you go, but stay.
Hetfield has written this song during their Europ tour. All their material has been stolen, amps guitars etc.. They lost some hope to perform the tour, but the band with whom they share the stage let them play with instrument. Sorry for my unperfect english cheers
@@WasilijSaizev I'm pretty sure it's about suicide since it talks about losing the will to live and at the end he says "Death greets me warm , Now I will just say goodbye" and it fades. (Fades to black)
@@Draddex no, this is the change inside of you. The thing, you lose is your part, that fades to black. It's the part where the music changes in the song. Since he is ascing people:"Are you alive?" He said that in the interview.
@@WasilijSaizev "It's a suicide song, and we got a lot of flak for it, as if kids were killing themselves because of the song. But we also got hundreds of letters from kids telling us how they related to the song and that it made them feel better." -James Hetfield in an interview with Guitar World (1991). Hetfield also explained that he and Lars were obsessed with death while making the album. So yes, the song is about suicide. The reason why the song is so popular and why it's such a masterpiece is because so many people including myself relate to feelings portrayed in the lyrics.
Life, it seems, will fade away Drifting further every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters, no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly lost, this can't be real Cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony Growing darkness taking dawn I was me, but now he's gone No one but me can save myself, but it's too late Now I can't think, think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
This song has pulled me out of some tough times, and has really gotten me up and moving. I've listened to Metallica since I was 6 and I won't stop now. Absolute masterpiece
The moment when I first saw and heard Fade to Black on a concert was one of the most emotionally extrange momments of my life. I was 100% happy and 100% sad at the same time. I was drowning in tears but smiling even with my eyes. I've never felt like that before, nor after again in my life.
The song that completly changed my life... call me the exception that confirms the rule.... 17 years old, already done with life, this song somehow brought me back from a road to the end.
Dude, my heart breaks for you. So many people suffer due to so many things. Metallica has gotten me through more situations in my life than I could ever explain. Music is everything to me.
Im very glad this song was made. Most songs you hear these days are either cheesy love songs or about a women's ass. This song actually highlights a real issue in modern day society. And as someone who's felt suicidal in the past, this song helps allot.

You know what..I've listened Pink Floyd, Scorpions, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple etc. all great bands, solos, vocals...But this band is a another dimension. Since elementary school this guys always finds a way too get to my heart
This is the song (specifically the intro and Kirk's opening solo) that made me fall in love with the band, the genre, and the instrument. I was 14 or 15 years old listening to Ride The Lightning on my brand new CD player playing along with my starter guitar and this song started and I could just FEEL something change.
Powerful chords matched with very intelligent lyrics. Feel it deep in the soul every time I get the honor to listen and or watch these legends amongst men. 🍀

Let's face it, they're not recording because they didn't have adequate means to do so. No one would be carrying a decent camera to a Metallica concert, but I'm sure everyone had their cell phones in their pockets. As soon as phones got halfway decent cameras slapped into them,... 🤷

let me ask this question about the people who disliked this masterpiece. so these people came in watched the video listened to this song and decided to dislike this?? I mean wtf!!
Diveen Varma
Kirks timing and James pitching ruined it for me personally.
they probably disliked for lars
Diveen Varma do not know what music is if it hit them in the salad
OH.. so sorry Mr Metronome with perfect Pitch
it was completely unlistenable was it ?
LMFAO.. idiot

My fav all time song from Metallica and I'm going to be 71 in a couple of months !!!!! Damn they are the BEST !!!!!!
My favorite also am 61
Just saw Metallica in Buffalo for the first time live. Hetfield made a statement about suicide mid song at the transition point. Told the audience it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem - he said, someone loves you. We love you. Ive loved this band since the first time I heard them but I have a profound respect for Hetfield now. He's a great person as well as great musician.
You can sense the sincerity in James too. In his music and interviews. He means what he says.

@@u.s.m.c.fewproudthemarines2987 brother, I don't know who you are but hope you're still here and things got better. Know that a metalhead here is wishing you the best. Tomorrow is always a new day.
And James was only about 21 when he wrote those lyrics too. Impressive stuff.
Sums up like what 21 feels like
& he wrote it because his favourite amp got stolen
I love ❤️ James❤
No way dude, everyone knows dave mustaine wrote everything. 😂😂
real talent of a genius 🐐
I'm pushiing 50, been listening to Metallica since I was 18, still the besytand only band to honor our veterans!
I specially love "Emptiness is filling me to the point of agony". Wow. That's so spot on. It truly amazes me.
The best part it doesn't fail to send chills all over my spine every time I hear it.
@@WasilijSaizev I'm pretty sure it's about suicide since it talks about losing the will to live and at the end he says "Death greets me warm
, Now I will just say goodbye" and it fades.
I am 52 years old and still in love with this band. Over 30 years and excited to hear them. Wishing myself to continue like them for another 30 years
Eines der besten Musikstücke die ich kenne ( Ich persönlich liebe es )
Life, it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
No one but me can save myself, but it's too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
bambang setyawan Thanx!

How does somebody write lyrics like that. James hetfield is one of the greatest lyricists of all time no debate. Fade to black is a masterpiece

one of the most melodic guitar piece in rock songs
This song has pulled me out of some tough times, and has really gotten me up and moving. I've listened to Metallica since I was 6 and I won't stop now. Absolute masterpiece
The moment when I first saw and heard Fade to Black on a concert was one of the most emotionally extrange momments of my life. I was 100% happy and 100% sad at the same time. I was drowning in tears but smiling even with my eyes. I've never felt like that before, nor after again in my life.

This is Metallica’s best song. It shows how versatile they are and they’re just not a hard rock metal band.
Then again - this is still metal . . Only balad👍🏻👍🏻
Don’t forget One
Second best, one is the better song
Yes one and fade to black are without doubt two of my most favorite mettallica tracks. Because of the fact that it mixes metal and ballad.

Thanks, brother passed little over 5 years ago. His favorite song.
Masterpiece.
strange but everytime I hear their songs despite the lyrics I feel happy and energized.

Dude, my heart breaks for you. So many people suffer due to so many things. Metallica has gotten me through more situations in my life than I could ever explain. Music is everything to me.
I honestly cannot believe that a song like this was made.
Im very glad this song was made. Most songs you hear these days are either cheesy love songs or about a women's ass. This song actually highlights a real issue in modern day society. And as someone who's felt suicidal in the past, this song helps allot.

have had several metallica periods in my life and im only 19 so im hoping for many more to come
This is the song (specifically the intro and Kirk's opening solo) that made me fall in love with the band, the genre, and the instrument. I was 14 or 15 years old listening to Ride The Lightning on my brand new CD player playing along with my starter guitar and this song started and I could just FEEL something change.

'now i will just say goodbye'

You can tell it is an older concert because not everyone in the crowd is recording it, but rather enjoying the music
Let's face it, they're not recording because they didn't have adequate means to do so. No one would be carrying a decent camera to a Metallica concert, but I'm sure everyone had their cell phones in their pockets. As soon as phones got halfway decent cameras slapped into them,... 🤷
More like they fold and let them selves be told what to do now. It's sad what this country has turned into.
Thats how it should be not Instagram or texting just enjoying in the moment
I’m sure everyone in the 80s 90s and 00s would’ve recorded if they had phones
Y’all are so blinded by nostalgia it’s crazy
@@cornflex8779 Agreed i hate looking at the comment sections of any live performances and there's always some stuck up music elitist, purists acting as if its music crime to record a live performance with their phones and blablabla good all days.....this generation sucks blabla back then people were better shut the fuck up already. Bet if we gave phone technology to people in the 1500s they would be recording Shakespeare or Beethoven plays as well. People are always going to be the same.
