Utkarsh Kumar Look, I liked 3 as much as the next person did, but Rogue was an excellent duo of 3 and 4. It's one of the best AC games in the franchise.
ive just finished playing AC rogue and i was actually really happy with the ending! it was really fun to play and shays story was very interesting! i dont understand how people judge the game without playing it and knowing the depths of the story!
My opinion of the game was vastly improved by moving on from the story missions to the open world of the North Atlantic post-completion. The icebergs and the desolate caves and wrecks along with some brutal legendary battles made it a worthwhile title for me.
Same control problems? More like IGN sucks at playing AC. I think this game is as good as Unity. The story and the concept of playing as a Templar is simply brilliant
I almost got the platinum trophy of this game and tbh this game is absolutely fantastic! It has the same addiction from AC4(plundering ships, upgrading, sailing and plundering more ships). Really love this game and i enjoyed it more than Unity. Only little complain of Rogue is that are way too many collectibles, like seriously. The game is also too easy. Easiest Assassin's Creed i have played.
I pre-ordered it the next day after I saw the trailer, I bought the game the day it came out, yes I personally don't agree with this review, however this is HIS opinion, we all have different opinions, I think this game is flawless, plus it was my first platinum trophy, don't go hating on HIS review because it is HIS opinion, me personally would give the game 10/10, I know I am late commenter but oh well.
I like Assassin's Creed Rogue because I found the story to be really interesting, and I'm really a fan of this whole Assassin-turned-Templar thing, because you play so many games as an assassin mercilessly slaughtering the Templars, but I wondered what it must be like to see the world from a Templar POV. I like Shay's story and his personality, as well as his morals, where he has a Templar belief but isn't too radical and wants the best for people. This game made me realise that "good" is a point of view. In the previous games, we've always had this thing where we are "good" and the Templars are bad, but the Templars think the opposite. The Templars don't just say "Haha we're evil lets go kill assassins!". No. They think that they are right. A few gripes I had were that although the story was dark and interesting, it was too short The Legendary Battles aren't one on ones anymore but fleet vs fleet, which I found less fun. Great gameplay and combat though, but Ac4 is still the best.
Personally, I think the level of detail is decreasing in the AC series as they are making them just after one other. They are releasing their games as if it is some kind of magazine: every time they have something new, they'll just release another issue. This also explains why curiosity won't be rewarded. Add more "new" things, and add more optional things to explore. If they do that, then they will make, once again, a great game
To everyone reading watching and commenting, you should just play the game before reading/watching the review. It can ruin your experience cause it will skew your view of the game before you even begin. If you like the franchise and want a different type of story and new city, buy both. If you think the game is repetitive and and boring, don't buy it. Both are really fun and bring some slightly new things to the table.
This score is way too low. Rogue destroys Unity, but it's not quite on par with Black Flag. I would put it on the same level as AC3, maybe not quite as good. But overall it's great. Big world, lots to go, awesome setting and unique take on an AC story. I'll be trying to get the Platinum for it in January 2017.
I love rogue as after played and grinding black flag I was like oh what now.... then I found rogue and enjoyed it, black flag is better but show this game some love
Using the pirate ship thing was a bad idea. It's just something that you can't really use in more than one game without getting stale. It was great in Black Flag, but in this game it looks exactly the same.
Except with a better story according to most reviews I've seen. Which surprises me. I thought this game would be thrown together garbage with most of the attention and effort going to Unity.
I just finished this fantastic game. Yes its pretty much a big expansion pack to AC4. but the Story held up very well and was possibly the best story so far in the series. (SPOILERS) The ending is the most refined and well done ending ever unlike the past games. Shay ends up assasinating Arno's father which is the last mission and the first mission in unity and ended the pirate saga very well. Yes the game is quite easy but i thought it was fantastic
James Adams I know. That's why I think they're crazy. They are basically saying that this game is AC4 with more weapons and a better story but it gets a lower rating.

One thing I really love about Rogue, is that you can get assassinated by assassin's for the first time. You could be walking down the street and an assassin jumps on you from a building and stabs you. Simply brilliant.
TacoMasters Association Yeah, it happened to me several times in fact. It brings you down to a sliver of health, one more hit and you die. Anything you can do in the past games, they can do to you, and I found that really awesome.
chedrick78 Didnt something similar happen in Revelations (yes I know many have been trying to forget about this one), with some random guys that could possibly run up to you and stab you if you didnt counter them and took half your health? I had always wondered why they took that one out. I think that the crowd screamed they grabbed you then if you did not do the QTE stabbed you and left you there.
Ubisoft- We know this game is better then unity right now so give it a lower score because we didnt hype this IGN- but i loved this game and wanna give it a 9.5 Ubisoft- We wanna sell more copies of unity not this so here have more money IGN- ok we will score is below unity and give it a 6 and just say it copies black flag to much Ubisoft- good and about that deal about Far Cry 4 remember score that at least above a 8 so the customers have more faith in us for the next generation IGN- but the story was shit and so were the characters Ubisoft- how does this briefcase of money make you feel IGN- cant wait to see you guys again when the crew comes out
@Stark Industries Maybe the story should’ve been longer, but for the most part, the river valley and the North Atlantic are both huge zones to explore. Plus a larger New York than AC3. I think personally there’s more than enough content to explore.
wow i had a different opinion, i hunted all the time so i could sell things and craft items, i fully upgraded my ship so i could destroy more ships and get a whole lot of money, i only fast traveled when i had to get to a different map and i thought the gameplay was great and Shay is one of my favorite assasins, I give ACR a solid 9/10
People. Don't let reviews make a big impact on your desition on gettin the game. It's a good game and the story is great and interesting. Yes, the game is a direct sequel to AC4 and it plays the almost identical, but it is very fun and worth the money (i got it on release). The only thing with wich i disagree with this review is that the world is not empty and is full of stuff to do and beautiful places to explore. Take some time to sail to every different island on the game and explore them. I swear, it's worth the time (:
Superman13195 legendary battles, fort raiding, assassin headquarters raiding, assassin message interceptions, harpooning, hunting. There's a lot to do in the game. Plus, if you go for all the achievements in the, it'll be more fun IMO
No seriously, this game is well worth the money. If you hated black flag then I guess you wont like it, but it's much bigger than black flag an there is a huge benefit to hunting! What the heck is he talking about? Also the North Atlantic is beautiful

Vokun i started gaming late, but im also wondering if AC1 blew people minds at the time of release graphics wise, it was smooth as hell compared to GTA4 and saints row 2 (released 2008), and from 1 to black flag, there seems to have been little difference in graphics, so it aged really well. gameplay wise, it was unique, sure it was repetitive, but the controls were refreshing, and the assassination part was exciting with increasing difficulty, i think its my fave as well, with ac3 a close 2nd due to finding connor more interesting and conflicted
Vokun Played through the entirety of Black Flag wearing Altair's robes. AC1 had to have been my favorite, both for it's setting, and simplicity compared to the others. Your minimap was never flooded with icons, free running and combat felt great, the models + generic soldiers all looked awesome (I especially liked how intimating the Templars looked) and of course, Altair was badass.
Its funny how he says that he felt the world to be empty and later says he did not get to know the big cities in the game because he used fast travel all the time. Well thats not the games fault

Ubisoft needs to sit back for a year or two or maybe even three and think about what they are doing to the AC franchise. The game needs to be re-imagined and needs to go back to it's roots of AC/ACII, interesting story with emphasis on melee and stealth. The climbing mechanics are far from fixed in Unity as well, the controls feel clunky when trying to sneak, I often find Arno accidently jumping out of cover for no reason and getting caught...also, get rid of guns please lol. I just want the game to go back a couple centuries before guns. Maybe back to medieval times with crossbows and throwing knives but not guns and darts...I mean seriously Ubisoft.
I think that they are trying so hard to fit the assassins in a history context. USA independence, French revolution and in rogue i don't know wich one is it( don't have the game yet). They need a strong character just like Ezio, so they don't have to do this every year. The important thing about AC is the assassin, not his role in a big history event.
peter parker I honestly hope it is in either medieval England or Scotland. I would also love it to take place in Germany or Spain during the Roman Empire so we can see the massive NPC on screen thing from Unity actually be used for some awsome scenes like massive Roman Legions marching through the German countryside or Spanish countryside.
Call me weird all you like but I think this is my favourite assassin's creed... and I've played them all. Partly because I Just love exploring the North Atlantic.
This should at least have an 8/10, and if it came out before Black Flag it would be an 8.5 - 9. The story is great, the open world is possibly the best in the series and it's those collectibles you can't be assed to get that reveal important parts in the overall series. Haven't played Unity yet but there still hasn't been a terrible game in the AC series.
It seems like you are strongly nitpicking. There are so many amazing things in AC Rogue that you did not cover. Amazing story, the opposite side of the same coin. Looking at things from someone else's perspective. Strong personality. Variety of emotions. Side missions as a templar! There is no benefit of hunting as you're a templar and you have money to buy it all and not go through the hunting activity. The activity is not forced but provided as an option which makes so much sense. You did not get to know the city and finished the game. Well that can happen with every AC game. That is why they have side missions. So you can explore. If you did not do it then its basically your fault. Traversal mechanics remained unimproved, was painfully frustrating and for the most part you found it irritating. Maybe if you learnt how to play the game and go towards the green dot instead of continuously trying to run up the wall which was not even in the way of reaching your target it would be less frustrating for you (2:07). Seriously, IGN, can we have someone more experienced person write a review for you?
I give it 10/10. I loved it. Yes the story is short but it has what it needs and not what it wants like any other Assassin's Creed game. I have 100% story, location, crafting, ship, Shay, and challenges. All I need to do now is the rest of the trophies and then I will be done.
Now don't get me wrong Rogue is my all time favorite but it really did lack and if they could make a better Templar game i would buy it NOTE:i know almost no one will agree but still i needed to get it out of my chest
Only someone who is not a true fan of the series could dislike this game. This is an excellent piece of AC canon, has most of the best elements of Black Flag, answers many questions that were left unanswered in both AC3 and Black Flag, and serves as the missing piece of the critical timeframe between the end of Black Flag and the beginning of AC3, and Shay is second only to Ezio as my favorite AC character. AC Rogue is a must play for any die hard AC fan. The story does not come together without it.
i love Assassins creed games, my only problem is they feel rushed. Imagine if Ubisoft took atleast 2 years to make a AC game, can you say award winning? look how good Rockstar is at making games because they take 4-5 years .

I really enjoyed the open world. River Valley and the North Atlantic ocean were beatuiful, and it was fun to explore all of the island and find treasures, blueprints, and all that stuff.

I dont think anything is crap but you skipped best rated ac games. Hitman absolution rated for 7.5 is actually best game ever for me. I havent played any ac but i have bought 1,2,br,re,3 for x360, and i left 4 and syn for ps4. I will play all that in only 3 months.
@@rithik8674 parkour is literally the best compared to the previous games. You literally had so many additions to the parkour like using flag to go down , using the lifts in a diff way and many more things. Ofcourse it is your opinion , but I personally feel after Unity , Rogue parkour was actually awsm.
My Review:AC Rogue is a fresh AC game because it takes you to the side of the enemy and their experience.The naval combat in this game is very fun for me .The Abstergo challenges are pretty cool to do and you get cool rewards like the video files and such from doing them.The Missions are pretty good , especially the ones where you do the dynamic things(not gonna spoil them).I rate 8/10.
ac3 was best assassins creed, even when people say connor was too serious like wtf he went through hell, he grew up without a mother father brother or sister
rogue would have to be my second favorite. it's story is the second best (after ezio's entire life), the gameplay is tweaked just a little bit to fix any problems from black flag, and it is the most fun.
I honestly think this is one of the best AC games mainly because you take a different path. A path many were waiting for as was I. To finally be a Templar. I mean yes it was alot shorter then your common AC game but really I think its amazing how its done. You can wear awesome outfits here were in almost all others you they were just Assassin outfits with a little change in design and color where here you got like Captain outfit, Viking outfit, Arctic Explorer outfit and so on. The game just gave you taste of the other side of the world and its one of the best games they made in my opinion
I'm enjoying both Rogue and Unity. Great stories, lots of side missions, items to collect, etc. Few games offer a long campaign and I want my moneys worth. Thankfully ubisoft doesn't listen to people shouting for the series cancellation. I'm kooking forward to next years AC. Thank you Ubisoft for these fantastic games! :D
Loved this game! Just finished it....Amazing deep storyline and lots to explore! Although it is shorter than other AC games..... Got 50hrs of gameplay! I usually get over 60hrs+.....Great game overall!
Oh my god, Why is everyone saying that ubisoft is crap. The story is awesome. It all connects to ac3 and unity. The first 4 asssassins creed game had the same combat. Ac2 and brotherhood were almost exactly the same. I think 2 and brotherhood were the best but after this was announced, people just keep hating. There were 3 ezio games. AC, AC2, ACB, ACR and people say they were the best, and now with AC3,AC4 (probably the best) AC Rogue, and Unity, the series sucks now? Just cause they changed carachters and gameplay. Get a life
There are no such things called bad games or good games or even fucking reviews. Everyone has his point of view and everybody has his own taste in everything. Maybe you ( the reviewer ) didn't enjoy the game, maybe other people will. As for me, I liked and i still like every game that I have played on my consoles and computer. It's all about your opinion not another one who expects every game to be his way or the highway. I like to watch reviews to see if other people share the same opinion as me, but i never let it create any doubts about the game, and so should you. Let him say everything he fucking likes, you're the one buying the game not him.
I feel like the closer the AC series gets to the modern day, the worse the games are getting. Assassins Creed was all about stealth, hiding in plain site and finding strategically good ways to find and kill your target without being seen, then make a run for it using an escape plan you thought up on the way there. There was a sense of a set way of playing that fit the whole creed agenda. You felt like you belonged as an assassin, because the game makes you play like one. It's why I actually still really like the first game, despite it's flaws. None of that is here anymore. And where as AC4 replaced that with awesome sailing mechanics that reinvented how we went about our adventures.. it still didn't give me the feeling of being a true assassin and what's the point in playing an Assassins Creed game, if you're not playing as a true assassin, as depicted in the earlier games? There's just no soul in these games anymore. I have every belief Ubisofts greed has something to do with it. Stop pushing these games out every year. They're nothing but a cash grab, they never reach GOTY, beause they're no where near good enough and not enough time is spent on them. Until Ubisoft do this, I bet most of us who love this franchise will begin to forget about it real, real soon. I mean, Shadow of Mordor, a new game series, new IP, new franchise maybe, looks twice the game Unity and Rogue are combined, which is just horrific for the fans of this once fantastic franchise.
Superman13195 Not really much of an assassin then are you if you go all ''guns ablazing'' then huh? My point still stands, but the most recent games simply highlight it. In the earlier games you were rewarded for smartly playing the game, you weren't a one man army, you didn't have guns, or any major advantage other than the fact that you can manipulate your opponents through stealth, giving you the edge. If you remember back in AC 1, if you went head first into a group of enemies chances are you'd end up running, especially early game. Thus the game rewarded you for taking the assassin route of handling your enemies, simply because it meant you had a better chance of staying alive. Contrast that with Black Flag, Unity, AC3 and so on you see that, as you stated, there is no need to play stealthily because the game is too easy, you're too powerful, you're no longer an assassin that hides in plain sight and strikes in the dark, you're just another soldier doing the same old shit game after game in a new setting. And what's so special about that?
Well if you think about the closest to the modern era we are, the better the weapons. Its simple in 14th century they barely had any guns... While on the 18th they had a lot more so its obvious that a guy from the 14th century will have a lot less fire power than a guy from the 18th century. Weaponry progressed with time, with the tecnology, like altair he had to cut a finger to put his hidden blade, while ezio and the others did not.. Why that? Because they improved the hidden blade in 200 years and it didn't have to cut your finger to put it.
That too... Call Of Duty has 11 games I think since 2003. However COD4 started the craze back in 2007. Since 2007 there have been 8 COD games. Since 2007 there have been 8 AC games. Let's just say they are tied lol
Empty world? Empty world?! Mate, this game has map as big, if not bigger, than AC4! It's full of towns, islands, enemy ships, and major cities to explore! What do you mean "doesn't reward curiosity"? Chests with tons of money in them, easter eggs, secret forts, maybe some dialogue hidden away. And same control problems? Unless you try to utterly rush through the game with no intention of listening to the main story or anything, then you'll barely get any of those "control problems". You gotta take your time, nobody's asking you to finish it ASAP. This was a pretty stupid review. I'm NOT saying it's perfect, but a 6.8? I'd have given it at the very least a 7.5, probably an 8. And people, don't base your opinions off of IGN's reviews. If something looks genuinely interesting, buy it. End of.
6.8? Sure the world wasnt as alive as i would like it to be. Sure it was built on the same eninge as Black flag. Sure the story was short. But this was far better than anything Unity had to offer. Unity had a shit story, with no character development and boring characters which you didnt care about. The story in this game as excellent and all of the missions were also a ton of fun. 8.2 out 10 from my part!

After beating this game the other day, I would rank all of the Assassin's Creed games in my opinion: 1. AC II 2. AC IV Black Flag 3. AC Brotherhood 4. AC III 5. AC Rogue 6. AC I 7. AC Revelations I have not gotten AC Unity yet so I don't have an opinion on it, but I will get it once I get a PS4.
Basing it purely on gameplay and story, I would say: 1. AC II 2. AC Brotherhood 3. AC Rogue (Rogue fixed all of Black Flag's problems, I hated those tailing missions in Black Flag and Rogue was definitely a fun game to play. It has one of the best AC stories you can get and Shay is the first good character since Ezio) 4. AC Black Flag 5. AC III 6. AC Revelations 7. AC I 8. AC Unity (this game is hardly memorable as its definitely not fun to play, the story isn't engaging, the multiplayer is broken and that app/initiate thing with the chests is annoying!) 9. AC Liberation

I'm still super pumped for Far Cry 4, but I completely skipped Watch Dogs, AC Unity, and AC Rogue. Also Child of Light and Valiant Hearts were two of my favorite games this year.
I guess I'll pass then. The world was large in AC3, but everything felt meaningless and boring. Nothing really to do in towns besides a few fights and chest finding. Infinite respawning hordes of gaurds and other bugs. It made the already boring story really frustrating to play. I'm nt a fan of boat riding too. I just want assassins, not pirates.
Don't listen to the review. The game was great, and the story is more than worth the price alone. Not to mention that the world is most certainly *not* empty.
Imma give my opinion on the game. What I like about the is mostly the story. He goes through a dark transformation and he has to hunt down his former brothers. You also kind of see from the perspective of a Templar. What I really like is that the story ties in with assassins creed black flag and assassins creed 3. (It's after black flag and before 3). I also love historical theme to the game. Whenever you aid the English in the seven years war. AND the sailing was my most favorite part of the game. It's very therapeutic and enjoyable, I'm so glad they brought it back. But what I dislike about the game is that it doesn't really anything new to the table. Same mechanics, Same combat, same stealth. My overall rating of the game: 8.5 It's a very good game and it's worth the money. It kept me busy for a couple weeks.

HEYNOW : I got assassins creed rogue for the Lisbon, Portugal mission & I enjoy A C games in general, I also have Origins & my Favorite so far : Syndicate all on Pc ..... my son has Revolations , brotherhood & black flag , he tells me I must play black flag ~ his are on the Xbox one .... hopefully I will play them all 🎮 Thanx 4 Posting. 🇵🇹
The activities within the world (in-game) is there for the benefit of your player. Hunting, Pillaging, and Collecting are means of upgrading both you and the Morrigan (your ship). Both you and your ship would last longer in battles, your could carry more harpoons during whaling, and much more. I'm genuinely curious whether the reviewer simply played the game just to quickly finish it or if they genuinely "played" the game. Because if you were playing, you'd know that both land and ship battles are harder here than in black flag, enemies genuinely wanted to bury you six feet under (the sea). and only having the initial stats aren't going to get you anywhere. And this here, will determine whether you genuinely played it or just skimp the whole thing just to get a review out. Not to mention, well, not mentioning the new things to do like "capturing" assassin forts, new enemy type in the form of Stalkers, owning a grenade launcher (yes, you read that right) which has all the qualities of the dart but it's a (frickin') grenade launcher (which you can also upgrade).
I give it a 10/10, before you begin hating let me tell you why. The story was really good giving me a great look at what it's like on the side of the Templars. It was one of the first games in awhile to bring to see the end of it unlike FarCry 4, saints row4 Halo. It's also the game I wasn't expecting to have the most fun with during Christmas when i was really disappointed in far cry. it was the most fun I had since I played Deadpool and gears of war judgement. Now I did get angry at the constant jumps to the wrong place but nothing terrible like unity, plus syndicate still does it too. Overall pretty much the only game I enjoyed in 2014
I completely disagree i had lots of fun doing side missions taking over assassin headquarters and getting every collectable and some outfits looked great i loved the templar outfit you get after doing all legendary fleet missions were really hard so i went out of my way going through areas to upgrade my ship getting the blueprints to make myself a tank in those fights with close calls especially the last one. it was satisfying after finishing the game i upgraded my ship and i felt so much better than when i had tough time beating certain ships now with one mortar shot i take them down and with a full crew and a full fleet to get you unlimited gold, taking over navy ships to use as your new fleet addition.
I enjoy Call of Duty sometimes but instead of just hating on it what annoys me is how it is viewed with different criteria than other games such as Assassin's Creed. For example, AC Rogue got a measly 6.8 score from IGN because of how it was "redundant and repetitive and in need of drastic reinventing" when they gave its predecessor, AC 4 Black Flag, a great score. If anything Rogue built on Black Flag's mechanics and had more things to do and just better mechanics in general over the old one. What really gets to me is how each and every Call of Duty since the first Black Ops game (arguably) has been completely similar with the exception of the story and the setting (which even that is now getting overused with the past 5 installments, including BLOPS 3, taking place in the near future and a bunch of important landmarks getting blown up and the country is either on the bring of another World War or in the midst of one). I am disappointed by Call of Duty because with the amount of fame it has acquired over the years it could do so much more and better with all of the money Activision has and all of the loyal consumers that will buy the newest game no matter what. Reviewers need to hold the series to a higher standard and to stop giving it high reviews when the games keep tending to be near re-skins of the last installment with the addition of a minor gameplay mechanic like being able to double jump and shoot Boba Fett arm missiles, for example. I feel so let down because I can only imagine how great it would be to play a Call of Duty game that we can all accurately say is vastly improved over the last one and is its own unique, individual title, unlike the recent games.

My opinion of the game was vastly improved by moving on from the story missions to the open world of the North Atlantic post-completion. The icebergs and the desolate caves and wrecks along with some brutal legendary battles made it a worthwhile title for me.
Same control problems? More like IGN sucks at playing AC. I think this game is as good as Unity. The story and the concept of playing as a Templar is simply brilliant
I almost got the platinum trophy of this game and tbh this game is absolutely fantastic! It has the same addiction from AC4(plundering ships, upgrading, sailing and plundering more ships). Really love this game and i enjoyed it more than Unity. Only little complain of Rogue is that are way too many collectibles, like seriously. The game is also too easy. Easiest Assassin's Creed i have played.
I pre-ordered it the next day after I saw the trailer, I bought the game the day it came out, yes I personally don't agree with this review, however this is HIS opinion, we all have different opinions, I think this game is flawless, plus it was my first platinum trophy, don't go hating on HIS review because it is HIS opinion, me personally would give the game 10/10, I know I am late commenter but oh well.
I like Assassin's Creed Rogue because I found the story to be really interesting, and I'm really a fan of this whole Assassin-turned-Templar thing, because you play so many games as an assassin mercilessly slaughtering the Templars, but I wondered what it must be like to see the world from a Templar POV. I like Shay's story and his personality, as well as his morals, where he has a Templar belief but isn't too radical and wants the best for people. This game made me realise that "good" is a point of view. In the previous games, we've always had this thing where we are "good" and the Templars are bad, but the Templars think the opposite. The Templars don't just say "Haha we're evil lets go kill assassins!". No. They think that they are right.
A few gripes I had were that although the story was dark and interesting, it was too short
The Legendary Battles aren't one on ones anymore but fleet vs fleet, which I found less fun.
Great gameplay and combat though, but Ac4 is still the best.
Personally, I think the level of detail is decreasing in the AC series as they are making them just after one other. They are releasing their games as if it is some kind of magazine: every time they have something new, they'll just release another issue. This also explains why curiosity won't be rewarded. Add more "new" things, and add more optional things to explore. If they do that, then they will make, once again, a great game

To everyone reading watching and commenting, you should just play the game before reading/watching the review. It can ruin your experience cause it will skew your view of the game before you even begin. If you like the franchise and want a different type of story and new city, buy both. If you think the game is repetitive and and boring, don't buy it. Both are really fun and bring some slightly new things to the table.
This score is way too low. Rogue destroys Unity, but it's not quite on par with Black Flag. I would put it on the same level as AC3, maybe not quite as good. But overall it's great. Big world, lots to go, awesome setting and unique take on an AC story. I'll be trying to get the Platinum for it in January 2017.
After playing six games as an assassin, playing as a templar feels almost like a betrayal. That's my take anyways.

Using the pirate ship thing was a bad idea. It's just something that you can't really use in more than one game without getting stale. It was great in Black Flag, but in this game it looks exactly the same.
Except with a better story according to most reviews I've seen. Which surprises me. I thought this game would be thrown together garbage with most of the attention and effort going to Unity.

I just finished this fantastic game. Yes its pretty much a big expansion pack to AC4. but the Story held up very well and was possibly the best story so far in the series. (SPOILERS) The ending is the most refined and well done ending ever unlike the past games. Shay ends up assasinating Arno's father which is the last mission and the first mission in unity and ended the pirate saga very well. Yes the game is quite easy but i thought it was fantastic

One thing I really love about Rogue, is that you can get assassinated by assassin's for the first time. You could be walking down the street and an assassin jumps on you from a building and stabs you. Simply brilliant.

I had always wondered why they took that one out. I think that the crowd screamed they grabbed you then if you did not do the QTE stabbed you and left you there.

wow i had a different opinion, i hunted all the time so i could sell things and craft items, i fully upgraded my ship so i could destroy more ships and get a whole lot of money, i only fast traveled when i had to get to a different map and i thought the gameplay was great and Shay is one of my favorite assasins, I give ACR a solid 9/10

People. Don't let reviews make a big impact on your desition on gettin the game. It's a good game and the story is great and interesting. Yes, the game is a direct sequel to AC4 and it plays the almost identical, but it is very fun and worth the money (i got it on release). The only thing with wich i disagree with this review is that the world is not empty and is full of stuff to do and beautiful places to explore. Take some time to sail to every different island on the game and explore them. I swear, it's worth the time (:

AC1 had to have been my favorite, both for it's setting, and simplicity compared to the others. Your minimap was never flooded with icons, free running and combat felt great, the models + generic soldiers all looked awesome (I especially liked how intimating the Templars looked) and of course, Altair was badass.
Its funny how he says that he felt the world to be empty and later says he did not get to know the big cities in the game because he used fast travel all the time. Well thats not the games fault

Ubisoft needs to sit back for a year or two or maybe even three and think about what they are doing to the AC franchise. The game needs to be re-imagined and needs to go back to it's roots of AC/ACII, interesting story with emphasis on melee and stealth. The climbing mechanics are far from fixed in Unity as well, the controls feel clunky when trying to sneak, I often find Arno accidently jumping out of cover for no reason and getting caught...also, get rid of guns please lol. I just want the game to go back a couple centuries before guns. Maybe back to medieval times with crossbows and throwing knives but not guns and darts...I mean seriously Ubisoft.

I think that they are trying so hard to fit the assassins in a history context. USA independence, French revolution and in rogue i don't know wich one is it( don't have the game yet). They need a strong character just like Ezio, so they don't have to do this every year. The important thing about AC is the assassin, not his role in a big history event.

I would also love it to take place in Germany or Spain during the Roman Empire so we can see the massive NPC on screen thing from Unity actually be used for some awsome scenes like massive Roman Legions marching through the German countryside or Spanish countryside.

This should at least have an 8/10, and if it came out before Black Flag it would be an 8.5 - 9. The story is great, the open world is possibly the best in the series and it's those collectibles you can't be assed to get that reveal important parts in the overall series. Haven't played Unity yet but there still hasn't been a terrible game in the AC series.

It seems like you are strongly nitpicking. There are so many amazing things in AC Rogue that you did not cover. Amazing story, the opposite side of the same coin. Looking at things from someone else's perspective. Strong personality. Variety of emotions. Side missions as a templar! There is no benefit of hunting as you're a templar and you have money to buy it all and not go through the hunting activity. The activity is not forced but provided as an option which makes so much sense. You did not get to know the city and finished the game. Well that can happen with every AC game. That is why they have side missions. So you can explore. If you did not do it then its basically your fault. Traversal mechanics remained unimproved, was painfully frustrating and for the most part you found it irritating. Maybe if you learnt how to play the game and go towards the green dot instead of continuously trying to run up the wall which was not even in the way of reaching your target it would be less frustrating for you (2:07). Seriously, IGN, can we have someone more experienced person write a review for you?
I give it 10/10. I loved it. Yes the story is short but it has what it needs and not what it wants like any other Assassin's Creed game. I have 100% story, location, crafting, ship, Shay, and challenges. All I need to do now is the rest of the trophies and then I will be done.

Only someone who is not a true fan of the series could dislike this game. This is an excellent piece of AC canon, has most of the best elements of Black Flag, answers many questions that were left unanswered in both AC3 and Black Flag, and serves as the missing piece of the critical timeframe between the end of Black Flag and the beginning of AC3, and Shay is second only to Ezio as my favorite AC character. AC Rogue is a must play for any die hard AC fan. The story does not come together without it.

My Review:AC Rogue is a fresh AC game because it takes you to the side of the enemy and their experience.The naval combat in this game is very fun for me .The Abstergo challenges are pretty cool to do and you get cool rewards like the video files and such from doing them.The Missions are pretty good , especially the ones where you do the dynamic things(not gonna spoil them).I rate 8/10.

rogue would have to be my second favorite. it's story is the second best (after ezio's entire life), the gameplay is tweaked just a little bit to fix any problems from black flag, and it is the most fun.
I honestly think this is one of the best AC games mainly because you take a different path. A path many were waiting for as was I. To finally be a Templar. I mean yes it was alot shorter then your common AC game but really I think its amazing how its done. You can wear awesome outfits here were in almost all others you they were just Assassin outfits with a little change in design and color where here you got like Captain outfit, Viking outfit, Arctic Explorer outfit and so on. The game just gave you taste of the other side of the world and its one of the best games they made in my opinion
I'm enjoying both Rogue and Unity. Great stories, lots of side missions, items to collect, etc. Few games offer a long campaign and I want my moneys worth. Thankfully ubisoft doesn't listen to people shouting for the series cancellation. I'm kooking forward to next years AC. Thank you Ubisoft for these fantastic games! :D
Loved this game! Just finished it....Amazing deep storyline and lots to explore! Although it is shorter than other AC games..... Got 50hrs of gameplay! I usually get over 60hrs+.....Great game overall!

Maybe you ( the reviewer ) didn't enjoy the game, maybe other people will. As for me, I liked and i still like every game that I have played on my consoles and computer. I like to watch reviews to see if other people share the same opinion as me, but i never let it create any doubts about the game, and so should you. I feel like the closer the AC series gets to the modern day, the worse the games are getting.
Assassins Creed was all about stealth, hiding in plain site and finding strategically good ways to find and kill your target without being seen, then make a run for it using an escape plan you thought up on the way there. There was a sense of a set way of playing that fit the whole creed agenda. You felt like you belonged as an assassin, because the game makes you play like one. It's why I actually still really like the first game, despite it's flaws.
None of that is here anymore. And where as AC4 replaced that with awesome sailing mechanics that reinvented how we went about our adventures.. it still didn't give me the feeling of being a true assassin and what's the point in playing an Assassins Creed game, if you're not playing as a true assassin, as depicted in the earlier games?
There's just no soul in these games anymore. I have every belief Ubisofts greed has something to do with it. Stop pushing these games out every year. They're nothing but a cash grab, they never reach GOTY, beause they're no where near good enough and not enough time is spent on them. Until Ubisoft do this, I bet most of us who love this franchise will begin to forget about it real, real soon.
I mean, Shadow of Mordor, a new game series, new IP, new franchise maybe, looks twice the game Unity and Rogue are combined, which is just horrific for the fans of this once fantastic franchise.

Not really much of an assassin then are you if you go all ''guns ablazing'' then huh? My point still stands, but the most recent games simply highlight it.
In the earlier games you were rewarded for smartly playing the game, you weren't a one man army, you didn't have guns, or any major advantage other than the fact that you can manipulate your opponents through stealth, giving you the edge. If you remember back in AC 1, if you went head first into a group of enemies chances are you'd end up running, especially early game. Thus the game rewarded you for taking the assassin route of handling your enemies, simply because it meant you had a better chance of staying alive.
Contrast that with Black Flag, Unity, AC3 and so on you see that, as you stated, there is no need to play stealthily because the game is too easy, you're too powerful, you're no longer an assassin that hides in plain sight and strikes in the dark, you're just another soldier doing the same old shit game after game in a new setting. And what's so special about that?

Well if you think about the closest to the modern era we are, the better the weapons. Its simple in 14th century they barely had any guns... While on the 18th they had a lot more so its obvious that a guy from the 14th century will have a lot less fire power than a guy from the 18th century. Weaponry progressed with time, with the tecnology, like altair he had to cut a finger to put his hidden blade, while ezio and the others did not.. Why that? Because they improved the hidden blade in 200 years and it didn't have to cut your finger to put it.

Mate, this game has map as big, if not bigger, than AC4! It's full of towns, islands, enemy ships, and major cities to explore! What do you mean "doesn't reward curiosity"? Chests with tons of money in them, easter eggs, secret forts, maybe some dialogue hidden away.
And same control problems? Unless you try to utterly rush through the game with no intention of listening to the main story or anything, then you'll barely get any of those "control problems". You gotta take your time, nobody's asking you to finish it ASAP.
This was a pretty stupid review. I'm NOT saying it's perfect, but a 6.8? I'd have given it at the very least a 7.5, probably an 8.

6.8? Sure the world wasnt as alive as i would like it to be. Sure it was built on the same eninge as Black flag. Sure the story was short. But this was far better than anything Unity had to offer. Unity had a shit story, with no character development and boring characters which you didnt care about. The story in this game as excellent and all of the missions were also a ton of fun. 8.2 out 10 from my part!

Just finished Rogue. Definitely one of the best Assassin's Creeds, definitely beats Black Flag. 8.8/10 in my book.
It does kinda annoy me how they complain that the combat is the same when there is games like call of duty where it has taken them 7 years to think of a new way to play the game for advanced warfare. Then there's ea.....cashgrabing scum

Funny when you hear or read a review and disagree with it almost entirely. Thought Rogue was the best Creed game since 2, my personal favourite. If you like bad guys this a game for you.

3. AC Rogue (Rogue fixed all of Black Flag's problems, I hated those tailing missions in Black Flag and Rogue was definitely a fun game to play. It has one of the best AC stories you can get and Shay is the first good character since Ezio)

8. AC Unity (this game is hardly memorable as its definitely not fun to play, the story isn't engaging, the multiplayer is broken and that app/initiate thing with the chests is annoying!)

Been a terrible few months for Ubisoft... yet they have still once again run away with the gamers money.
Gamers are the ones to blame, they support Ubisoft's shitty games by buying them year after year and, pre-ordering games before they are even finished, Ugh.
I like their games, but I don't like them as a publisher, if that makes sense.
I'm still super pumped for Far Cry 4, but I completely skipped Watch Dogs, AC Unity, and AC Rogue. Also Child of Light and Valiant Hearts were two of my favorite games this year.

I guess I'll pass then. The world was large in AC3, but everything felt meaningless and boring. Nothing really to do in towns besides a few fights and chest finding. Infinite respawning hordes of gaurds and other bugs. It made the already boring story really frustrating to play. I'm nt a fan of boat riding too. I just want assassins, not pirates.
Don't listen to the review. The game was great, and the story is more than worth the price alone. Not to mention that the world is most certainly *not* empty.
As an AC fan, I'm just excited to hear that the story holds up at least. Familiar gameplay may bother some but I can't get enough

Imma give my opinion on the game.
What I like about the is mostly the story. He goes through a dark transformation and he has to hunt down his former brothers. You also kind of see from the perspective of a Templar. What I really like is that the story ties in with assassins creed black flag and assassins creed 3. (It's after black flag and before 3). I also love historical theme to the game. Whenever you aid the English in the seven years war. AND the sailing was my most favorite part of the game. It's very therapeutic and enjoyable, I'm so glad they brought it back.
But what I dislike about the game is that it doesn't really anything new to the table. Same mechanics, Same combat, same stealth.
My overall rating of the game: 8.5
It's a very good game and it's worth the money. It kept me busy for a couple weeks.

Even with a great story, Rogue's rating still falls behind Unity. IGN score for Unity is 7.8. Beat that, Rogue! You got a 6.8.
HEYNOW : I got assassins creed rogue for the Lisbon, Portugal mission & I enjoy A C games in general, I also have Origins & my Favorite so far : Syndicate all on Pc ..... my son has Revolations , brotherhood & black flag , he tells me I must play black flag ~ his are on the Xbox one .... hopefully I will play them all 🎮 Thanx 4 Posting. 🇵🇹
The activities within the world (in-game) is there for the benefit of your player. Hunting, Pillaging, and Collecting are means of upgrading both you and the Morrigan (your ship).
Both you and your ship would last longer in battles, your could carry more harpoons during whaling, and much more.
I'm genuinely curious whether the reviewer simply played the game just to quickly finish it or if they genuinely "played" the game. Because if you were playing, you'd know that both land and ship battles are harder here than in black flag, enemies genuinely wanted to bury you six feet under (the sea). and only having the initial stats aren't going to get you anywhere. And this here, will determine whether you genuinely played it or just skimp the whole thing just to get a review out.
Not to mention, well, not mentioning the new things to do like "capturing" assassin forts, new enemy type in the form of Stalkers, owning a grenade launcher (yes, you read that right) which has all the qualities of the dart but it's a (frickin') grenade launcher (which you can also upgrade).
I give it a 10/10, before you begin hating let me tell you why. The story was really good giving me a great look at what it's like on the side of the Templars. It was one of the first games in awhile to bring to see the end of it unlike FarCry 4, saints row4 Halo. It's also the game I wasn't expecting to have the most fun with during Christmas when i was really disappointed in far cry. it was the most fun I had since I played Deadpool and gears of war judgement. Now I did get angry at the constant jumps to the wrong place but nothing terrible like unity, plus syndicate still does it too. Overall pretty much the only game I enjoyed in 2014
I completely disagree i had lots of fun doing side missions taking over assassin headquarters and getting every collectable and some outfits looked great i loved the templar outfit you get after doing all legendary fleet missions were really hard so i went out of my way going through areas to upgrade my ship getting the blueprints to make myself a tank in those fights with close calls especially the last one. it was satisfying after finishing the game i upgraded my ship and i felt so much better than when i had tough time beating certain ships now with one mortar shot i take them down and with a full crew and a full fleet to get you unlimited gold, taking over navy ships to use as your new fleet addition.
I enjoy Call of Duty sometimes but instead of just hating on it what annoys me is how it is viewed with different criteria than other games such as Assassin's Creed. For example, AC Rogue got a measly 6.8 score from IGN because of how it was "redundant and repetitive and in need of drastic reinventing" when they gave its predecessor, AC 4 Black Flag, a great score. If anything Rogue built on Black Flag's mechanics and had more things to do and just better mechanics in general over the old one. What really gets to me is how each and every Call of Duty since the first Black Ops game (arguably) has been completely similar with the exception of the story and the setting (which even that is now getting overused with the past 5 installments, including BLOPS 3, taking place in the near future and a bunch of important landmarks getting blown up and the country is either on the bring of another World War or in the midst of one). I am disappointed by Call of Duty because with the amount of fame it has acquired over the years it could do so much more and better with all of the money Activision has and all of the loyal consumers that will buy the newest game no matter what. Reviewers need to hold the series to a higher standard and to stop giving it high reviews when the games keep tending to be near re-skins of the last installment with the addition of a minor gameplay mechanic like being able to double jump and shoot Boba Fett arm missiles, for example. I feel so let down because I can only imagine how great it would be to play a Call of Duty game that we can all accurately say is vastly improved over the last one and is its own unique, individual title, unlike the recent games.
