When I was a child it was the Reverant Louden who preached fire and brimstone every Sunday from the pulpit of Greyfriars. I was traumatised in such a way that I only returned for my sisters wedding in 1997 by which time Dr Stuart Louden had long since retired. I think I would have found John Knox less intimidating at the pulpit.
Please do a video on my former school George Heriot’s. It’s next door to Greyfriars Kirk and has a fascinating history going back to 1628. I got a glimpse of the main building from this video and it reminded me of my attendance of founders day in June, my first attendance since 1973. In many respects the school remains unchanged in character although teaching aids have come on in leaps and bounds.
I was in Edinburgh during the Fringe in 2003. I attended a production of Macbeth that started with the witches in Greyfriars kirkyard, then the whole production, actors and audience, moved down the street to other stopswhere they did another scene. They ended with the swordfight in another kirkyard.

Can you even imagine what it was like to have your loved one’s body stolen? Talk about feeling violated in the extreme!
