    As a guy with thick hands and smaller mouth I've never been able to string floss. Heck even the dental hygienist struggles getting in to get my molars. Wish I'd been suggested alternatives over the decades rather than just getting the 'floss speech'

    You touched on one of the reasons I like water flossers, which is they're just more fun than string floss. I usually uses both, but if I'm in a "can't be bothered flossing" mood, I'll still use the water blaster, and any flossing is better than no flossing

    Dear Bill Bra, the waterpik stimulates the gums thats why! The pulseses agitate the gumline and it exercises the tissue. The old ribber gum stimulators did the same thing. Start out on a low setting on your waterpik and after a few days gradually increase the pressure. Chewing gum also stimulated the dentin. Chewing gum might be easier than other.methods.

  • @user-do5hd7zb4x

    Dear Wendy Kensin, your absolutly right! They dont get under the gum line. Try the crest gum detoxify. Just a sugestion. Try all hydrogen peroxide in the waterpik reservoir. Use a low setting onthe on /h wand. If that seems to strong use half tank hydrogen peroxide and half safe water to drink. Disinfect with clorox bleach in the tank occasionally. Dont use clorox as a mouth spray though it is pretty strong stuff. Jist use the clorx for cleaning the waterpik. Youve got to use pure microbillogically safe drinking water in the water pik. Distilled water may be a safer bet. Check with your dentist. I may have blown an amoba into my gums with my waterpik so be careful to use sterile water in that thing.😅

    Despite missing a couple molars for a couple years now, there is still NO space between my teeth! I can take great pains (literal finger pain) using a string floss, but those interdental brushes are Never small enough for me. And those pick flossers always break or get stuck. I used to have a vibrating pick floss holder, but got tired of looking for the refills. Gonna try the water pick type flosser again.

    I floss with the things with bristles but I also use the string floss because I have to with these awful crooked teeth it's the only way to really get in the weird areas because my teeth are so misaligned and uneven it's terrible I don't think I'll ever be able to afford braces ,, but I've heard that aggressive flossing can cause receding gums and having crooked teeth can cause receding gums 😞 I used to floss aggressively and I have crooked teeth, those two together might be why I have bad receding gums today 😓😥

    The interproximal brush sounds like a good option for me. I am anticipating needing the finest gauge available to use in place of floss. . Thanks Whiney maybe I'll give the interpret a try. My big thing is a high powered light to see and a decent chair to be comfortable in while I'm navigating my tight small mouth. This isn't an excuse, a year or.two ago I was flossing like mad but then I had a good firm bed to sit on. I'm anxious to try smearing toothpaste on ribbon floss, I haven't tryed this yet. Of course I will need gloves of the right type. Please let your patients know that poor orL health leads to colon cancer according to the Japanese. I learned this a year ago approx.. get it prox.! • @BillBraskyy
    @BillBraskyy 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Why would gingival patients benefit from water flossing more than cavity prone patients? I remember you saying yhis in a recent video, and Google didn't pull up any straightforward answers (just a simple "why, cause, and effect" type answer is all I'm looking for lol), i don't want to have to read student medical journals, or download a 50pg PDF or whatever, and that's all i could find search result wise.
    I would think that obviously, water flossing is better than no flossing, and both string and water flossing stimulates gums to become nice and firm, and light pink, instead of red, itchy, bloody, and puffy... But people who are cavity prone (I have been blessed to just not have cavities naturally), wouldn't that also meam by default they are also struggling with gingivitis?
    And even if a cavity prone person isn't prone to gum issues, why would a water flosser not be an ideal method of flossing for them?
    Would the pressure from the water maybe cause pain where they have cavities? I have also read from people's comments that they tried water flossing (people obviously with gingivitis), but they quit almost immediately because the pressure was painful, and it made their gums bleed badly (u think that's one of those cases where consistency and pushing through the unpleasant beginning is worth the effort), like when people first start exercising.
    Me personally, I love my water flosser, but I realized that i HAVE to use strong floss to get between my first and second molars on both too and bottom, because even with the high pressure setting I use, it just doesn't feel like the soaces between the molars are getting any love, so yeah, 25% string, 75% water floss is ny method :)

    I still can't wrap my head around 'pockets' and receeding gums being the #1 problem, while all the purported solutions require pushing down and agitating the gums around the tooth.
    I don't want pockets, yet here I am jamming a string in between my teeth, literally like I'm digging trenches between them. Same goes for bristles (esp. electric) held at an angle so as to literally slip in under the gum at the tooth.
    Maybe the rappers have the right idea, and just go all gold? Word?

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      lol I hear ya but pockets aren't formed like that. they form from a bacteria infection eating away at them (due to heavy buildup, such as plaque and tartar sitting on the gums from NOT flossing and/or NOT brushing). hope this helps!
