Lone Wanderer VS The Courier VS Sole Survivor - Who Wins? (Round 1) (in text form)
Chronological order sounds nice, doesn’t it? The Lone Wanderer is up first. He just for simplicity sake I’m assuming they’re all men grew up inside Vault 101 which was a relatively nice vault. The overseer was a dictator, but there weren’t any crazy experiments. Because of this, the Wanderer likely doesn’t have much combat experience aside from a few scraps with the Tunnel Snakes growing up. He kills a Radroach with a BB gun at his 10th birthday party, so it’s not too much of a stretch to assume that he’s at least handled a firearm. After all, Amata gives him one when James leaves Vault 101. James, the Wanderer’s father, was a doctor. This is where the Wanderer may have the advantage. Growing up with a doctor as a parent, he probably has more medical knowledge than the average wastelander.
Next up is the Courier. This is where things get interesting. Much of his past is a mystery, but there are things we can deduce from dialog in New Vegas. He’s likely in his mid-30s, as he says in a conversation with the Lonesome Drifter that he impregnated a woman in Montana 18 years ago, in 2259. The Courier was also responsible for helping establish a community or settlement in the Divide by discovering a supply route, however, he was also the reason why it turned into the hell it is now, as he accidentally set of a few nuclear warheads. Those two pieces of information tell us a lot. Montana is about 800 miles away from Las Vegas, which means the Courier has traveled far and has managed to survive. Raider groups and hostile mutated creatures a deterrent against leaving an established community without being well-armed. =
Last up is the Sole Survivor. Like the Lone Wanderer, we don’t really know a whole lot about the Sole Survivor. One of the first lines of dialog in Fallout 4, outside of the intro cutscene, indicates that the Survivor is a veteran. Lookout, a robot onboard the USS Constitution, scans him and states that he was part of the 108th Infantry Regiment, Second Battalion. It’s likely that he’s a veteran of the Sino-American War given the fact that it was the most recent large scale conflict prior to the Great War. Also terminal entry in Fraternal Post 115 indicates that the Sole Survivor is not just your average veteran, but was revered as a wartime hero, suggesting that he is quite capable in combat. Because the Sole Survivor was a soldier before the war, we know that he received actual military training, not just what wastelanders have learned over time. He was properly trained with firearms, combat tactics, and possesses at least a basic knowledge of how to survive when in a hostile environment. Suffice it to say, he can handle himself in both a firefight and a physical confrontation.
Let’s get the obvious out of the way, the Lone Wanderer gets fucked up. He’s 19 years old and has only known life in the vault. Shooting radroaches or getting into fights with bullies doesn’t compare to a lifetime surviving in the Mojave or proper military training. The Lone Wanderer dies first, no question about it. For the Courier and Sole Survivor, there are a few things to consider. One is where they fight. No matter where it is, it’s going to be a wasteland. Maybe Nevada, maybe Boston, maybe Washington DC just to make it fair. Either way, the Courier has the advantage. He grew up in the wasteland, he knows what to look for and what to avoid. The Sole Survivor has just stepped out into the wasteland for the first time. That’s gotta mess with his mind in a not insignificant way, seeing the world you once knew destroyed. - เกม

Let me get this straight you think a courier who delivers packages and got toke by 2 raiders and got shot in the head would win against a military trained sole survivor bullshit
Like I said in the video, it's just my opinion, not a fact. Also, it wasn't just two run-of-the-mill raiders. It was two Great Khans and Benny. Great Khans are a lot tougher than most raiders.
Mitten Squad I understand but still he's a courier that delivers packages who got toke by two great khans easily and we also have no clue if he's even been in combat, in a fight 1 on 1 fight in a big open map how can you not pick a military trained sole survivor with war experience he hasn't been in the wasteland but he knows bombs dropped and caused this and he's trained to survive also didn't the courier lose some of his memory being shot in the head just my thoughts

Nope. Courier is courier 6, Ulysses himself calls the courier "Courier 6". Ulysses would have been Courier 6 but he turned the job down and let the protagonist become Courier 6.
The sole survivor wouldn't even make it to the fight because hes too busy helping settlements.

Exactly, if they all fight at the same point in time then the LW would have 10+ years of experience (after his game, because they all basically become demigods when it their time to shine), it wouldn’t even be close
I'd still say Courier would Win. SS and LW needed an Army to Combat their Enemies, Big C is the Army, And depending on your choices, the only Big Nerf you'd have is a slow Clunky Robot Army fighting Both Legion and NCR.

The thing I like about fallout is that no matter how badass your backstory is, chances are your death will be sudden at the hands of some random murderhobo.
9/10 in New Vegas my death comes from flying through The Mojave and messing up a QSQL fall cancel. The 1/10 comes from dropping in the middle of a bunch of Cazadors/Deahclaws while reload dashing

'' A gun! '' Nervously thought the sole survivor. The courier hands the sole survivor a letter, tips his hat and moves forward. He looks at the courier's back as he's walking away.

The Wanderer has an Alien Mothership, the Sole Survivor has an army, and the god damn Courier is an army.
Yeah but the sole survivor can too take out an army himself. With just a T-60 and a fully upgraded combat rifle he could take out the brotherhood of steel by himself without any help because I've done it before just at level 10 after stealing a t-60 suit and fully upgrading a combat rifle
And if you get help by the institute to take out the brotherhood of steel the synths really don't do much damage to the BOS soldiers the sole survivor is doing most of the fighting
So the sole survivor is technically an army himself too and has an army which could either be the brotherhood of steel, the institute, or the railroad.

@@labledoutcast Actually that's not true. Canonically Courier is the strongest character in both beggining and end. He/she has the most experience of all protagonists. He\she spent his entire life wandering post apocayptic wasteland unlike all the vault dwellers.

The courier for one simple reason

The Courier is probably the most hardened one out of all the other protagonist. They grew up in the wasteland, had a long career as a courier traveling all throughout the country, and I'd say has the strongest will as he went through being stripped of everything and forced to survive in the harshest of places in OWB and Dead Money
Not really. Most times in the wasteland, you’re going up against people with wildly different levels of training and skill, so surviving the wasteland as long as you have decent equipment and experience isn’t hard. Surviving airstrikes and tanks and stealth armor and snipers and fighting off 18 other guys with equally good training and equipment though? The courier is better than raiders who fight on instinct and with shitty weapons. The survivor knows 400 ways to kill someone in hand to hand combat and has 200x more experience with firearms and discipline in combat. The only thing the courier has him beat in is knowing what does what. The survivor wouldn’t know what plants are safe or what ghouls can do, but this isn’t a fight through the wasteland.
The Courier is the only one who can have literally any backstory you want prior to the start of the game so they win

I personally was always fond of the lone wanderer. He been thru so much and made such a big impact
he hasnt been through a lot at all, i believe youre thinking of the Courier, lone wanderer spent his whole life in the vault whereas the courier spent his out in the wasteland and its dangers. the lone wanderer is also pretty much a kid
@@juliannnnnnnnnnnnn the canon ending to the broken steel dlc is the lone wanderer destroying the enclave, the canon ending to the main quest is that clean and pure water flowed through the capital wasteland, though i dont know what the canon ending to the mothership zeta is but it regularly ends as he becoming the captain of his own spaceship with a death ray (and that you can fire the death ray and it lands on Earth and its a pretty big explosion if you can see it from space)

This was my first video I had ever watched of Paul/Joseph, he is part of the reason why I love the fallout series so much. Always looked forward to when he would upload and would watch them even going to bed as they were very easy to listen to especially since I had watched them before. Rest easy brother I bet wherever you are right now you have a fork in one hand, a bucket in the other and you’re ready to begin the real game!

@@OperatorMax1993 yeah I tried that one, thanks! the speedrun tactics help too where u can skip fighting people altogether basically if you press a before u start combat you could run away from random encounters the second they happen... just tap "a" when the encounter happens and keep spamming it when the ap comes to zero... can use it against enemies too where u can skip past enemies without fighting them... as long as you don't initiate attack that is.

What people seem to be ignoring is although the lone wanderer wasn’t trained in combat or moulded by the wastes, he was forced to adapt from ‘security’ to the hostile world that faced him alone. That intense transition either makes or breaks you and he was able to withstand a pretty tough and scary environment solely through improvisation and grit. Who can say who’d win too many variables, but I’m backing the underdog.
What everyone also forgets is just how much talent the LW has, he can handle any gun with ease(even clear out jams) keep a cool head when fighting monsters(super mutants, death claws, ghouls etc) and fights extremely hard for what he believes in

I have this habit that when I finish shooting on vats I try to move or shoot normally (fo4). I don't really do this very often but when I do the mysterious stranger is always there so now when I use vats and need to end a fight quick I click random buttons just to test my theory lol

It's a cool theory but there's no way; depending on either ending you choose.
If you nuke the platform; it's reduced to ash in the final strike it can ever triangulate and it can ever fire off.
If you turn it on the Citadel, there's no way to return to the White House grounds. The automated transit station pretty much was a one way ride from D.C underground to Adams AFB. And even if the LW did manage to return, they single handedly decimated the entire Enclave army. There isn't enough man power after also killing pretty much everyone in the Brotherhood anymore

If you count the add-ons as canon to the LW's story, he also freed an entire society of slaves, defeated a society of tribals led by a brain in a tube, did something related to Outcasts which I haven't played yet, and saved the entire planet from being obliterated by an alien death ray.
Now, obviously, this doesn't make him any less baby, but it _is_ something to think about.
I just want to add that soldiers are trained to adapt and overcome, and dealing with desperate people (I.e. the enemy forces in a resource war) they can be as sadistic and crazy as a bunch of jet junkie raiders. The fact that he is a “veteran” means he has overcome many obstacles.
Definitely, Soldiers always know a way around.
But I think it has to do with the fact that Sole Survivor/Veteran is still in the process of adapting and overcoming powerful obstacles

You can glitch the gun to shoot them....
1.open the inventory
2.hold down the "favorite weapon" button
3.whilst holding down that button switch to the ammo tab and favorite the tiny tots.
4.with the laser detonator equipped press whichever button on the d-pad you selected and equip the tiny tots,it should allow you to load them in the laser detonator.

SS has actual training from his/her military history so I gotta give them the slight edge there. However the Courier knows the Wastes and probably knows a lot of ways to patch himself up so he could win with time. It just feels like a coin flip most of the time.

2. The Chosen one (Caveman who nukes a powerplant and oil rig, saved the planet and had the biggest 'impact' in the series) ends the threat of Enclave in the West, preventing a mass genocide. Saved humanity from endless FEV experiments.
3. Vault dweller (stopped the masters army from wreaking havoc in Cali and beyond, basically started the NCR. Without the vault dweller the NCR wouldn't exist. Saved humanity from extinction by defeating the master and disbanding the super mutants.
4. Lone wanderer (barely a man, steps outside the vault and becomes the doom slayer of the wasteland) - seriously tho he abolished slavery in the Capital wasteland, destroyed enclave in the east coast and supplied pure water to the capital wasteland along with possibly saving the world from alien invasion.

Personally, I believe that the Sole Survivors combat experience in an actual war would give him the edge. A 1v1 fight with an experienced individual would be tough, but not as bad as the hectic and chaotic bloodshed that typically makes up a military conflict.

Just because you as the player can say you have taken bounty contracts before does not mean canonically it is true. You can also say that you were a con artist in the game. Again. Doesn't make it so either. There are plenty of reasons to lie in the game and you are given many opportunities to do so. If you had undeniable proof that would be one thing but at this point all we know for certain is that the protagonist of Fallout 4 had genuine military experience. The courier was just that. A courier. Nothing much else is actually known of his past unless I missed something. Fallout New Vegas is my brother's favorite game so I will ask him about this. If anyone would know he would considering he has played through the game many times varying greatly in the story. I have played it at most two or three but have never heard of the courier being anything else but that at the start of the game. I certainly could be wrong though. Will need to look into it.

But the sole survivor can have any amount of health points depending on the level, my highest level fallout 4 character is level 352 with a whopping 3620 hp. Given the courier has all of the health boosting aids he can have around 700 hp max.

They start fighting barehanded with the L having stronger punches but C having better technique and coming out on top. L: damn your good even butch would be shocked at those techniques and speed. C: your punching power would make the legate jealous. They stimpack themselves and then the lone wanderer equips a bos power armor and C equips ranger riot gear. They nod and C pulls out a anti material rifle and L pulls out a minigun. They both take cover and start shooting. L destroys the cover C was hiding behind and lands a few shots and C runs and vats hits the minigun out Ls arm and land shots in his chest. They both get nerd rage and charge at each other with melee weapons, C has a thermic lance and L has a super sledge. They fight back and forth until C comes out on top due to his super slam. They both run several meters and then C pulls out a grenade machine gun and L pulls out a fat man. They shoot till they run out of ammo and wait till the dust settles only too see both on 1hp so they start running to each other until a voice says, "Preston sent me here to help but I didn't expect you two to be here."

Unfortunately the Courier is the most OP Fallout protagonist at the end of his game....if he can even be considered human at that point.
His first feat is surviving a shot to the head (which an average human has a 1/10 chance to survive) and was left in a shallow grave until he was dug up and brought to Doc Mitchell which probably took 10-20 mins.......needless to say that should have killed him.
Along the way the player has a chance to get several implants increasing his S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats, along with a slight healing factor and one that increases skin density.....THEN he gets abducted by the Big MT scientists and has the heart, spine and brain removed and replaced with cybernetics (AND TESLA COILS!!!). After putting back the couriers missing organs there is some tech that still remains making the courier even stronger! Plus the implants from Big MT that even furthers his survival prowess.
Now a few rapid fire facts: The couriers perk tree is geared towards survival, has learned several melee combat techniques, and has access to specialised ammo types (This would make power armour useless cause the courier would have access to armour piercing rounds), and has access to a ton of powerful weaponry.
The Courier became a nigh invulnerable cyborg war machine with superhuman senses and strength when all was said and done.

also 40 mm and 25 mm grenade machinegun launchers. And the customized mini nukes ... fallout 4 limited arsenal really makes dificult for the SS.
My headcanon is that the brain damage from getting shot in the head turned him into a combat savant that allowed him to quickly become the Mojave Wasteland's god of death. The other two, by comparison, are relatively normal people who are only as deadly as they are in-game for the sake of gameplay (sure Nate is a veteran, but he starts off exactly as capable as Nora, who didn't have a military background). I think if we actually compared them side by side the Courier would win
