My heart was touched greatly by Billy Joel’s generosity in featuring Mike singing “Nessus Dorma”. My father introduced me to the world of Opera ever Sunday afternoon when I was a child. My 94 year old father entered eternity on Wed Feb 5th and I attended the Billy Joel concert, Friday in Tampa. It truly was a sign from God when you sang that song Mike, and it ministered to my sad heart. My dad was Michael De Angelis. Thank you for your tribute to him.
The greatest gift was every Sunday you spent with your father enjoying the world of great music. And every Sunday, I’m sure, your thoughts return to those times. Sound is second only to smell in it’s tie to memory. I’m so glad when you heard Mike sing, that is once again brought you back to those sunny Sundays of your youth.
I Recent saw BJ in MSG on May 5th for the 1st time in my life. It was a 60th birthday present to myself, with my daughter and husband, taking off work, taking the Acela to NYC to see this concert and spend the weekend in the city. This was a bucket list item, both seeing BJ and at MSG for the 1sr time.. Waiting for the concert to start we chatted about the concerts we regret the most that we never got to see, while Queen with FM was an obvious answer for all 3 of us, I also said Luciano Pavarotti. I grew up listening to Pavarotti with my dad, and Nessun Dorma was our favorite, but my parents were too poor to ever afford to see him live. I was just getting on my feet professionally where I would be able to treat my parents and my dad died. I had no idea BJ played Nessun Dorma during his concerts, and I literally cried tears when Mike started to sing. I felt like God heard me! I was so happy on May 5th!
I've never been a fan of opera and yet this man brought tears to my eyes last summer in Detroit. I'm glad to have found a decent recording of it. Thank you.
I saw Billy & Stevie in PHX last night. Mike stole the show! Hearing Mike LITERALLY took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. I've watched this at least a dozen times and shared it far and wide with friends. Thank you Mike! You truly have an amazing gift. Immediately after last night's show I bought Tix to see Billy & Stevie again in TX in March in the hopes of seeing Mike again. I'll be dead center in Row 10 off the stage, seats 7&8. Please perform this in TX Mike, PLEASE!
Had the great pleasure of witnessing this miracle in Detroit last Saturday. It was a long awaited concert for my wife and oldest son, such a great evening. And Mr. Delguidice, your performance of this piece stirred emotions in this stoic man. Thank you for letting your talent out into the world! i went to see billy in manchester a few weeks ago. there were tens of thousands of people there, but i doubt there were many people who bought their tickets in the hope of seeing an opera song. however, mike delguidice got one of the biggest cheers of the night, and the only standing ovation (at least, in the block i was in anyway). breathtaking!

My classmate from Miller Place. I remember him in the music room.. I remember him years later when we were of legal drinking age by himself singing Joel songs in my favorite local watering hole in Port Jefferson village. We sat in a booth., me with my cigarette in hand, catching up after not seeing each other since high school... he is real genuine down to earth guy. Deserves his big break. So talented. I've been to many Billy Joel concerts in New York City's Madison Square Garden. He has always had Mike DelGudice perform Nessun Dorme as a solo. I've also seen Mike and the band,( several members of Billy's band members) at a venue in Long Island, N.Y. Always a great show!!!
The only thing that could’ve made it better was having the Optrans over the stage like you would have in an ordinary opera. That said, you can look up what the words are in English in the sea what the story is about as it sat in China and it’s about tests that to potential lovers keep giving each other to prove their worth, especially the princess toward her sooner. The actual title means “nobody sleeps” or something like that, I believe.
Mike's performance of this song was one of the highlights of the Fenway show on August 30, 2017. I can't stop listening to this version. I dare say the Fenway version was even better!
I just saw Billy Joel's Cleveland concert on 7/14/17. Loved the entire show, but one of the highlighlights was Mike DelGuidice's Nessun Dorma! Absolutely beautiful!!

This is profoundly ridiculous. First of all Nessun Dorma is a magnificient aria that was written by Puccini for a powerful well trained operatic voice. It is not for the layman. Singing this in a rock show is utter nonsense. it would be like inserting Pressure or You may be right into the middle of an opera. it simply doesn't FIT!!!!!!! This is just another example of humans thinking with their emotions & not their heads. Now I know there are going to be people contesting this. Opera is opera & rock is rock. And the two should never meet. It's not a crime to be unique and unto yourself. It doesn't mean your a snob & you hate other music. I'm sure there were a lot of people in the audience thinking, what the hell is this??? And they would be right to think that. They came for some ROCK N ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are certainly entitled to your opinion, and in most cases I would agree. However, I think this is a beautiful Prelude to "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant". This is a rare exception, it would not fit anywhere else in Billy's show.
What a breathtaking surprise last October in Winston-Salem to hear this aria out of the blue that I had been unfamiliar with. Just floored me, and now I can hear it again whenever I want on TH-cam although from London. Sorry to have missed you Mike last November at your scheduled show in Greensburg, PA near my old hometown. I'm 54 and I finally saw him live for first time a few weeks ago. 70 and he still is amazing and has great performers with him.
