    What would you recommend for a mid priced salmon or fish based dog food. Dry or wet

    wholehearted is a great brand, my dog loves it and wont touch any other foods, He used to eat Science Diet but wont touch it and doesnt like Purina.
    I feed my dog Wholehearted with Grains because the Grain Free variant is bad for your dogs health, you do not want a bunch of peas and beans with no grains your dog can get very ill and can develop a heart issue related to grain free diets.
    You need to include grains because 98% of dogs can have grains, if your dog legitimately has a issue with grains and the vet tells you to go grain free do so, Otherwise it is putting your pets health at risk.

    Both brands have grain free lines and both have ones with chicken and rice I wish you could compare the most “comparable” of the two brands

      When I went to get the bag they didn’t have any of the grain free bags in stock. Also I wanted to do the original formulas that was released by each stores. I will in the future do the grain free formula.

    Hey Adam. This was a good mash up. 2 equally advertised brands by 2 equal competitors. It was fun to watch. Great way to start the year. I’m still thinking about that raw instinct. So impressive. I’m waiting to see if any other brand will match up to that.

      Probably no other brand. Unless it's another raw.

    I ordered 2 different bags of Gentle Giant for my 4 dogs. They been in Pedigree since puppies. Now I decided to upgraded the quality of their food I don’t even know what that really mean. For last 30 years I’ve search dog food reviews n the unfortunate part that is no one really know what best for dog to eat. Perhaps that the reason some people decided to feed their dog home made. Funny, many years ago the industry tell to people not to feed dog of the table. My vet told me that she feed all her dogs Purina. I asked why? She replied Purina who started dog food industry 100 years ago n they’ve been in the business for awhile. I don’t mean u have to feed your dog Purina. My point is that if your dog like the food that’s good, regardless what brand u choose. The sad part that the dog doesn’t get to choose what food to eat, people do.

    So, question, would the fact that one has grain while then other doesn't play a part in the way they breakdown?
    Uuuuuu....an idea. How about 2 senior foods? Both same quality level & both either with or without grain. Or 2 senior foods, use the same brand, with grain vs without grain.

    You should have compared it to simply nourish instead of authority since its more similar to whole hearted. Authority would be on the same level of iams or hills science diet

    Not a good comparison. Maybe compare chicken with chicken, no grain with no grain, high performance with high performance, etc ...

    • @AdamYourDogTrainer
      @AdamYourDogTrainer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree 100%. I have tried to match most of the foods but sometimes I only get some of the samples from a line. I started buying foods that match so they are a better comparison. Hope that helps. Thanks for your honest feedback!!

  • @ceemtay
    @ceemtay 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Like others have said, these are not comparable products. Two totally different product categories. One is a "science" category food while the other is "natural". As others have mentioned, you also compared a grain vs. grain-free food, even though Authority has grain-free products as well.
    A little help on some of the other ingredients. It's not "Oat Granoats", it's Oat Groats, which are the hulled kernels of oats. Also, you said Chlorine Chloride instead of Choline Chloride and Celery Root instead of Chicory Root. Again, big differences here.
    One last suggestion... to more closely mimic what happens inside the gut, consider adding digestive enzymes to your breakdown test since those exist in the digestive tract -- not just water.
    Appreciate what you're trying to do, but I would love to see a bit more care and research going into this before providing reviews and recommendations.

      I use white vinegar witch have the same PH as the dog stomach. I can’t get any closer to the dog gut better than that. The PH of a dogs stomach acid is 2.3 and the white vinegar is 2.2. If you have any thoughts I’m open to it.
