I've had one for a few months now, coming off of a yz 450. I can honestly say I won't go back to a 450. In western WA there isn't a whole lot that the 125x can't do. It is also the most fun I've ever had on a dirt bike.
I don't want the wieght, coming off a 450 I don't want to swap bikes with my friends. As soon as I do I want back on my 125. Lol It too much fun whipping it around as apposed to throwing something heavy around. in our area 450 power isn't needed.
Looks to me like the bike is surprisingly adequate at low rpm's for a 125......looks like it weighs about as much as a postage stamp. Seems like it would make a person a better rider on other bikes due to the attention it demands. I'd ride it in a minute.
I Bought the 125x about a mouth ago and my riding abilities have improved 100% . I’m riding terrain and obstacles I would have really struggled with before with ease. Complete game changer for me !
I have one and I bought it for specifically trail riding . I love it, the suspension combined with lower compression & and lower ignition curv makes it a fun bike for the trails. I ride it every weekend. 20 + hrs on it now and super fun . And it's a great hill climber, especially climbing over tree roots and such, the suspension is perfectly tuned for this type of riding. I did a lot of research before I bought this bike and couldn't be happier.
Something about the Yamaha YZ just feels right. I've owned KTM/Husqvarna 2T bikes and whenever I get back on a YZ I instantly remember how much I love them.
That lovely 125 2t motor!! I really like the way you do the review a break it down during the ride, telling us the gear you're at etc. I'm waiting for you to pin in the mx track :P

Great review. I picked one up about a month ago. I’ve only ridden a small area while I’ve been trying to get the carb dialed in. It was fouling a plug an hour
Dirt N Iron it’s close. Just some fine tuning. Possibly just clip position and may go smaller on the main. Plug is black but not wet or fouling like it was

Great info Rado. Can’t wait to see the 250. Lots of tight tracks in my neck of the woods and this WR450 is a handful. Looking for a new smaller bike in the future.
Great video! I’ve been looking at one of these to move up from a TTR230 trail bike. Little worried it would be a shock going from a luggable trail bike to a small bore 2 stroke. I’ve been riding for a few years off road and really enjoy. My son has grown into my 230 so it’s time for a new bike.
Yeah @Dirt N Iron, stay MOTO-vated!!! Love the 2smoke. My son has a KX 125 and I love that bike too, so light, so flickable. You DON'T need 65 horsepower on a dirt bike to have fun, that is exactly what you proved Rado. Big horsepower and low skill is a receipe for disaster. Lower horsepower that increases your skills is always the right way to go.

I have the Motocross yz125. It’s a great bike but mine shifts from 3rd past second into neutral in between 1st and 2nd gear when shifting down. Does anyone have any experience on fixing this sort of issue ?
Would you recommend this bike to someone coming off a crf150rb? I’ve been on a 150 for years but I’ve out grown it and not progressing with my ridding. I ride enduro loops and trails mostly but I’m only a 5’4 / 5’5 female and I’ve been on both 250 4 stroke and 2 stroke and think it’s too much bike for me. The yz125x seems like the only middle ground for me.
hi Sunny, I think this 125x would be decent bike for you. Go for it and try it out, I think you will like it and if not you can always sell it with minimal loss, these days used bikes keep really good value.
@@dirtniron so light and nimble with great power delivery. I actually bought it specifically to ride Cahuilla, Pala, and some private tracks in the area. It has served me well. However, I took it to Ocotillo Wells this past season and it was the most fun riding I have had out there in 10 years. You can literally put the bike anywhere you want. I like riding on the pipe more so for me I prefer it over the ktm's. My current 250x will now be setup for the dez with larger tank, flywheel weight, stabilizer, mousses etc...my new one will be track only.
The YZ125X is a bike that I wouldn't want to race, wouldn't dual sport, and wouldn't use for any "traditional" role...but damn I want one!!! It looks like the most fun on two wheels!
Could you do 2020 125x vs 2020 250x comparison while doing some hard enduro. I can't find any videos on enduro, everyone is doing track and easy trails. I need to know which one performs best in tight technical and hair scrabbles, and also I'd like to here from you what you'd recommend for me. I don't know if it helps but I'm 5'7 and I ride hard and aggressive
Hey Rado! How much tougher was it to ride it the tight technical vs say your 300? Did the mild power and lightweight make up for lug ability of your 300? I’m about the same weight as you and skill level. Bike looks fun but just wondering if it would just be a whole lot tougher to ride in the technical stuff. Thanks!
not sure Richard, I havent ridden Husky 125 recently. They are both great, probably Husky and KTM feels lighter and has less vibration with counter balanced engine..

On flat ground will handle almost any weight rider, going up hills you’ll want something with more power. Riding a Yz125 improved my riding drastically which I’m super thankful for.., However the big downside is piston lifespan, I’d be lucky to get 15 hours out of a piston. “Iz guuuud beginner biek”. Can’t really agree with that statement. The 125x is no beginner bike. I know a lot of online channels considering theme selves a sort of “authority” on all things moto but I’d hate to see a beginner think a 125x is a good starter bike.
just sharing my 2 cents, there are different angles to look at it.. what is it that you think is not good for beginners? have you ridden 125x ? I agree with you that this is probably not the best bike to learn on, but the angle I had in the video is that it pushes you to stay alert, its light and power wont get you in the trouble easily.. but yea, its probably better bike for kids transitioning from smaller 2 strokes than for a total beginner. just for the record, I dont consider myself an authority, I am a guy like you riding dirt bikes and having good time.
Dirt N Iron I would consider the 125x to be like “throwing a beginner to the wolves” so to speak. The bike simply requires more clutching, speed, and over all skill to operate than a bigger bore two stroke. I rode a 125x on an Mx track and owned a 125yz in my past.
