It’s almost like riding a 4 stroke what Yamaha did to that motor was great they did a lot of stuff to to make that bike for the woods it very different then riding the mottos version of the yz they geared it down too. Very little clutching on that bike especially between 1 and second gear. I’m 215 pounds and it takes me up every hill I attempted! It’s a great bike

I ride woods and track and a double jumps on it and that suspension soaks it right up. It’s light nimble and has plenty of power and speed! I have been riding for 35 years and this bike is a blast to ride! Good job Yamaha!! Braaap!!

Just bought the 22 125x and it is one great bike!! And I tricked it out bigtime!! Smartcarb, pro circuit system, vforce 4 reed, apex head, Boyesen water pump, 9oz fly wheel and protection all the way around, !! And I am 61!!
You dont really need a stator for lights anymore. A 30 watt led headlight is extremely bright and 6 18650 cells wired 3s2p will run it over 2.5 hours and weight only 300 grams. If you haven't learned to solder yet, almost all led lights can use 10-30 volts so you can use most off the shelf rc packs.
Selling a 25 year old YZ125/250 (both shift like gravel, 250 vibrates, cable clutches, cheap grips/sprockets/chain/plastic that turns white. Meanwhile KTM/Husky/Beta and others are NEW and WAY better quality hence the Ready to Race (counter balanced 250/300) and resale is WAY higher.
Buy a KTM/Husky 150 there is a reason they own off-road and superior bikes way better QUALITY not the re-cycled 1995 YZ with their horrid notchy shifting and cable clutches.

Theres's a lot more differences to a YZ125 than you mentioned! E.g. smaller, wider 18" rear tyre; larger rear sprocket,; lower seat height by almost an inch; slightly longer wheel base; more rake angle on the forks; some kind of bark busters; and different pipe and muffler. Did I miss any?
6 feet tall 155 pounds got my first bike 2000 KX 125 big wheel 2 stroke and I will never regret it as my first bike it's a blast and so easy to maintain... Highly suggest 2 stroke 125 as a first bike. Mines 190lbs. 40 horse power and 20 torque

Possibly. It wasn't just me on at the intro that was saying how much softer the suspension felt than the MX version. Skinny guys were saying the same thing. For a vet-style moto track, with small jumps and tight turns, it could work, but depending on your speed you might need to stiffen it up or get stiffer springs. But, the power isn't as punchy either and might not give you the pull you want right out of a corner to clear a jump.
The same one that shifts like GRAVEL in gears, VIBRATES, cable clutch that YZ250 it is. KTM/Husky/Beta and others are COUNTER Balanced like night/day and they got hydraulic clutches, slick shifting transmissions and actually are NEW.
@@mt1885 and then the shitty welding on the ktm fails around the headtube and your bike snaps in two. Ktms are grandpa bikes and friends and family of mine have had nothing but problems with them. If you can't deal with vibrations and a slightly stiffer clutch than you shouldn't be riding.
Could this bike do like rocky river beds and steep rocky hills? I'm an old novice mx rider that has a crf450r that for the last two years rides trails. Don't have to be the fastest but would like to complete the rocky stuff without killing myself.
Big mistake sold 125 bought 450! Thanks to all you young people paying for my Medicare I needed it. Sold 450 after I healed up. Now looking at a Yamaha 125x that I can control !

This bike should be a 150 or a 175 with a button. And the 250 should be a 300 with a button. Add in a YZ350FX. Yamaha would rule off road. Why can't they see that ?
Because you can get one out the door for 7k usd and the ktm is 35% more. Maybe that has something to do with it. Or maybe people like having 15 years of used parts available. Or maybe its because yamaha I'd such a huge company making everything from drums to outboard engines, they have the tooling and the bikes are still selling. Or maybe....
Bummed when KTM discontinued their 200's, went to a 150, not bad but will NEVER give up my 200, the perfect bike for me, may have to check out the Beta some day...
