I think the 2-stroke fanatics would love this bike. Its hard to stall, absolutely hauls ass and rips on the mid and upper rpm range in the best suspension out there. The faster u go, the better the bike feels. Iv never rode faster on any other bike.
I'm a two stroke guy up here in the PNW, and I just came off a 250x, and I love this bike, it does it all, easy to ride fast, and with a few mods it rides the tech gnar as well!!
Great initial thoughts. Own a '15 YZ250FX and they are a fantastic platform. Just came off '18 Beta 300rr and '17 Beta 390 and really enjoying the little Yamaha here in the PNW. Really looking forward to your thoughts on this bike as you get to ride it more. Definitely interested in the difference in maps on the 2020 and details on the map switch and it's effectiveness. Thanks for a great channel and keep up the great work!
good morning my friends who love these bikes and sports. As I always speak to you, congratulations on your profession in this area. competent in teaching mechanics and several other qualities. Thank you for always reading my comments, thank you very much for being such humble people at heart. In addition to you fox racing, and the pilot mike mtzeger are always thanking me and having this affection with me. and referring to this video, yz is one of my favorite bikes. a hug friends and sorry for talking a lot. God help you always.
What's the output on the stator? Can u add lights, signals, and horn to make it street legal? Or is that basically the WR250?? Do u have access to one of those for a dual sport review?
Would you recommend the 125 sx or the 250 sxf? Which one would you say is better for beginners? Really nice that you take your time to answer questions not everybody does that like you☝🏼👍🏻
Right now as a teen I buy all my own dirtbike accessories such as the gear and bike itself etc... so Im sticking with used bikes to save money. However Im so jealous of my future child who will hopefully love riding because they will be able to buy any year of fx they want. (hopefully the used 2015-2020s are cheaper by then)
In your opinion what are the main differences between WR250F and YZ250FX? Same bike if you mod air intake exhaust throttle stop and ecu on wr250f? Great review! Thanks! 👍
Almost the same bike, but wr250 was tuned more for average trail rider and 250fx for a racer. the gearbox is different too, not sure how much of a difference it is tho.. I think with all the mods and extra $ the wr250 can feel similar to 250fx.. wr250 comes with radiator fan and trip computer with speedometer..
Thank you for the video, been waiting for it. I guess now I know what bike I'm getting, just wasnt sure how it would do on the track since it's an FX model. Later this year I'm gonna get one!😁😁
Hey Buddy, I’m 6’1” and 300 lbs do you think I should get the YZ450FX or the YZ250FX according to my size. I only trail ride and don’t track ride at all. Thanks for the great video and I really like the fact that the 250 has 6 gears.
Hey man, i am not really sure how to answer.. on the faster trails 250 would probably be enough, but it might be little underpowered on slower technical trails. 450 might be a bit heavier and more difficult to handle.. are you experienced rider?
I’m fairly new to it and I have a lot of guys telling me that I would need the 450 because of my size, and others telling me that I would be fine with the 250. So I’m not to sure which one to go with.
This is my dream bike, especially after hearing that it's totally motocross capable. I'm really a trail rider, who rides a XR250R, which I got to ride with my son. I have a big desire to improve and progress in motocross, and the XR holds me back. The 250FX would allow me to do everything I do now, but it would open the MX world much more for me. I also love how practical and versatile it is, too. Very nice. I must admit though, after watching your review of the 125X, it looks like a worthy candidate, too. I weigh 175, so it seems like the suspension should be able to handle anything that I would throw at them.
Dirt N Iron i was using a preset one. Went back to all 0’s after I fouled the plug after about only 3 hours. Was good until I took it to the track a few days ago and couldn’t get it to start. Bike was at about 11 hours. Pulled it there and just wiped it and burnt it with a lighter. Worked for the whole day but I just took it into the dealer this morning to reprogram the ECU
Great video, i need some help if you can advise me, i actually have the 2020 yz250fx, looking for a 2021, i really love the bike, but here in chile the crf250rx 2021 is around 1000 dolars cheaper than de yz250fx 2021, so i dont know which is the best option, what bike do you prefer between this two?? Or maybe wait until 2022 bikes... (here in chile is difficult to find new bikes, almost all of them arrive sold)
2 strokes theres a reason all the pros still ride a smoker for offroad. you dont have to try so damn hard to keep it running and you can make it sing with a simple clutch drop
not to mention a smoker is so much easier to maintain and repair. i think people get so caught up in having to have what the pros have, the newest thing, the biggest displacment, and so on. in return people have forgotten just how beautiful and fun a 2 stroke is to ride and own!
I just got this bike was wondering if I'd be worth doing the airbox mod or not for it and what should the maping be like if I did that? I'd imagine make it a bit richer because I'm increasing the air flow
350xcf has noticeably more power everywhere, it doest also feel like a little more bike.. 450fx would be little to much for my riding.. 250fx can do it all, but sometimes would not mind to have little more power..
I'm new to the dirt bike sport, I'm riding a crf230f now, but now that I have more experience I feel like I need more power, I'm 5'4" tall and weight 135 pounds, do you think this could be a good bike for my size, thanks in advance.
I think its good bike, probably little taller than what you are used to now, but thats the size of any full size dirtbike and its ok not to touch the ground with both feet if you know how to ride. Try to take one for a ride if you can..
Is anyone running a Recluse in this bike or the WR version? Thoughts? I moved my wife from a CRF250X with Recluse to a KTM 250 XC-W...she's a much better rider on a 4 stroke & looking at getting her this bike (or WR). Thanks
this bike feels similar to RX but has more usable gearbox for trails. I dont have any rekluse experience, but this FX tractors up the hills pretty well and the clutch pull is really easy. I have stalling test video of this bike, check out my channel page there are more FX videos, might help you guys to decide
i still wanna know, which do you prefer more offroad? the 125 or 250x? have you had enough time on both? just watching you ride it seems you dont have to work nowhere near as hard on the 125 in the technical stuff
Dirt N Iron hey man it’s gonna be my first time riding a dirt bike do you think the Apollo 250cc dirt bike is a good one for a beginner or should I just buy the big brand bikes?
This one.. but they are different. This is latest from Yamaha, with all the good stuff. 250x is a good bike but its been here for a years.. up to you. Both bikes will make you happy. 😉
I have this bike, its my first dirt bike. I love it but I will say this, the suspension is WAY to stiff for slower speed objects. Im actually thinking of bringing my suspension to factory connection to have it revalved
can anyone tell me why americans try to use 4 strokes for offroad riding when a smoker will blow it out of the water? all the european countries are still on 2 strokes and winning races.
i dont really know.. US is pushing the emissions a lot.. specially california laws are getting strict towards 2 strokes, so I guess companies are focusing on 4stroke bikes more.
Sound weak and slow compared to my Honda crf 250r 2007 model old school carb ally frame twin pipe it has a longer gear range can tell by lookinf at vids but doesn't seem full blown power

They made some great updates for the 2020 model. I rode a friend’s 2020 YZ250FX and it’s awesome. Great video!
yea, they are really good bikes in 2020
I recently rode a well sorted WR450 F 2019 model, and WOW.. Better than any bike i have ever ridden.. Yamaha have done a great job.
Couldn't agree more! I did 2019 wr450 review last year, had it for 7 months and really liked that bike
Loved my yz 450f , put a heavy sthealy flywheel on it and it was a beast !
Love that bike, I have an 18FX and can’t imagine the 2020 ......probably amazing! Great video!
great bikes for sure, I rode 2017 before and really liked it!
Awesome video. Yamaha is cranking up the heat, looks like a hell of a great bike 🔥🔥🔥👍

Good review - thanks
Great review. I have a 2019 yz250f that I love on the track. Do you know what the transmission difference is between the f and the fx?
The x is a 6 speed i think
The fx has a wide ratio transmission so it’s better for bush riding and enduro racing
thanks Steve! the fx is 6 gear and wide ratio, so 1st is very slow (granny) gear.. and 5-6 are quite tall.. better for trails
Dirt N Iron so what’s the difference between fx and f
Love your channel, great videos! Keep them coming.

Really nice that you take your time to answer questions not everybody does that like you☝🏼👍🏻
250 f has more low end power and easier to go slow on while your learning
I agree, the 250f has more friendly power delivery, it will help you get confident soon.. linear power is best to learn on.
Looks like a great bike but they need to do a bigger fuel tank for the longer rides...
That would be cool, this one is bigger than yz250f, but still not big enough for long ride

Bought one a couple weeks ago. I love it. Fouled a plug after a few hours playing with the mapping though. Had things too advanced I figure
@Mitch Yamaha has service bulletin to fix the ECU causing the fouling plug issue. Check w/ your dealer.

I do set a sag usually, this one was done already for a similar size rider, I did not touch it yet
