Torontarded! That is soo true. Anybody outside Toronto goes with flow dirves to work or school and maybe we don't like the weather, but at least we don't overreact to the conditions. What Rick said about weathertainment is true also. This week alone the weather network has been wrong everyday. Good Rant Rick.
Rick Mercer - you are a genuis! What a perfect example of loaded language in media. Critical Literacy in the form of entertainment... it doesn't get better than this!
Winnipeg: We got almost 1m of snow one night...most of my car was buried. Work wasn't canceled. Uni wasn't canceled. Just life as normal. Life sucks, get a shovel. Course, 3 of us digging for 2 hours still didn't have the driveway clear, but hey. We tried! lol. Toronto: 3 cm snow. CALL IN THE ARMY!
I agree that Toronto doesn't get much snow but that doesn't mean it isn't cold here. We're right on the lake and when that wind hits you, it cuts through all your layers and chills you to the bone. My mom has lived in Sudbury and Toronto and she insists winter was more bearable in Sudbury.
requirements of a snow day in northern Ontario (were i am): must snow at least a foot in under 2 hours, it must be to cold for the the snow plow (not a typo there really is just 1) to start, and there needs to be a muti vehicle pile up between your house and the school
Ive lived in Toronto for four years,I understand the whole economic power Toronto has along with the 401 and shit...but...well I moved to Parry Sound where its -10C colder so Im out. I havent heard anyone making fun of Vancouver.
I just wanted to post a heart symbol but that made your site freak out and made my comment have to undergo some approval process ... so with this explanation I should now be able to post my original comment below .....
god I miss home...dark, wet, snowy, icy, frostbitten...and of course I miss talkin about just how cold it is with every person I meet and taking the time to bash Torontonians for being torontarded. It's a Canadian tradition, bash anyone whose weather might just be warmer than yours...in order to make yourself feel better about your poor choice of location.
@ecologist96 Then came the riot. Sad. So do you like the sound of Van-coo-coo or would like to suggest a different word for the madness befalling the city?
Wow...another parallel between Canada and US, except that the Weather Channel in the US trumpets hurricanes and has their reporters report in the middle of them. I don't mind being educated on the weather but all of this forecasting and weather news is starting to look like a bad romance novel.
Holy crap, I like Rick, but the alternating slanting camera angles are causing a pretension overload. Get over yourself Rick, you're funny, no need for this EDGY bullshit.

So true in Vancouver. 1mm of snow and everyone freaks out.

Even if Canada is cold, and wet, and icy, and dark I still want to move there!!
"this is the true north strong, and free, and cold, and wet, and icy, and dark." lol so true!
In related news - Toque sales have skyrocketed at local knitwear stores all across Canada.
